Needs a lot of improvement
What I would like to see mostly is a way to sort search results. I don’t see that they’re sorted in anyway and it’s painstaking to go through all of them. Also, some of the descriptions on the initial search aren’t there. For example, if you search for “foundation” there will turn up results like “bare minerals escentuals fairly light foundation” and then just “foundation” and a picture of what it is. More consistency with that would be great. Also, it doesn’t seem like all the products are listed. I’m not sure if that’s a store thing, or if just that’s what is available for pickup or delivery or what, but for example, Walmart has every single product listed (perhaps because you can shop online) but sometimes I like to make lists to see what I’m going to get later at the store so having more products listed would be helpful. Lastly, it seems a bit unorganized and hard to navigate. With several modifications it has the potential to be a useful app.
Too many issues and too cumbersome to use. There is no place to enter notes for shopper or for special requests like there is on website. Notes and special requests are especially needed if you use mostly fresh ingredients or use the butcher/seafood counter a lot. Search results pull up things totally unrelated no matter how specific you are. Don’t want to have to type everything, especially since you can’t rotate screen for easier typing. Still don’t have all items in search results, not even Giant Eagle’s own brand of things that are in the store(e.g. Giant Eagle Half & Half in all sizes, not just gallon size)But that’s a problem on the website too. For now I’ll stick to the website and try the app again after more updates are done. Seems like this was thrown together quickly and you want your customers to fix it for you.
Works great mostly
Love that they have finally created an app for this, however there are still a few things to be worked out. Some ingredients that I know are available using the website still don’t show up on the app. Alcohol was finally added but when you try to check out you get an error message that your order could not be processed because there is nothing set up to age check for the beer, wine etc. Still the app works well for what it is designed for and is especially convenient for online ordering.
I don’t like the app. I can’t view the actual sale ad to choose items I want from it. I want it to be easy and as quick as possible. The new app requires me to scroll through thousands of items on sale that I don’t want just to find the ones I do need. A huge waste of my time and a frustration. I deleted the app and used the website instead. I hate grocery shopping even online so to have it be more painful than it already is is a move in the wrong direction.
Sticking with the Walmart App
Tried creating an account for an hour! First, it would not accept my advantage card. Tried reloading the app then it said my password was invalid. Went to the link provided to reset my password and it said they are developing something new and exciting... but no way to rest my password. My wife tried it on her phone and had the same issues as well. We just deleted the app and went back to the Walmart app we have been using to order our groceries!
This app is so much easier to use for curbside and delivery ordering than the web interface. The search function still leaves a bit to be desired. But this is still greatly overshadowed by the ease of ordering. I love it!
No delivery option
Shopping on here was great compared to the mobile internet site, but there was no option for grocery delivery. My store lets you choose delivery from the mobile site, but not the app, which seems like a serious limitation to the app.
Made shopping on line a lot longer!
I liked the older app, all you had to do was click on the sale items on the flyer that you wanted and search anything else you needed, then you could easily check out for curbside. Now you have to literally scroll through EVERYTHING on sale and it’s not showing everything on the current flyer either. Ugh 😐
I upgraded my ios to 13 for this garbage?
Not sure what was wrong with the mobile friendly version of GEs website. It always worked fine. This app is terrible. You can’t filter by name, or price, or brand. You can only view whats on sale for a particular department. Thats worthless to me. I used it for a total of 5 minutes before writing it off. Its clunky, ugly, and the items are all over the place. No thanks.
Let me get this straight: I need to install this app so it can open the one already installed in my smartphone before it can do anything? Why not enhance the functionality of the old app instead of asking people to install two lackluster ones? I’m assuming it took a whole team of Einsteins to come up with this strategy. Maybe it’ll be cheaper - and better for your customers - to just license Kroger’s excellent app. I’m dead serious.
My weekly list is gone
The app is pretty easy to use but my favorite feature of the other giant eagle app was my weekly list. I would just go straight down it and add everything to my bag. Now I can’t find it.
Bring back monthly purchases
I liked the feature where I could see purchases. Please offer Giant Eagle Product first example tissues. Great otherwise I shop often with your app.
So much easier to use in an app form! I will do GE curbside so much more now. I used to go out of my way to Walmart for the ease of use, but I won’t have to anymore. Thank you!
Finally a competitive app
Giant Eagle has finally introduced a competitive app to Walmart and Wegmans. There is a good product search and prices. Only thing missing is an aisle location.
App doesn’t work with Ipad
Think i will continue to utilize the website since the app doesn’t rotate to landscape format. Additionally it does not go to full screen only a slightly larger one. It appears that the app was designed for someone using an iphone. For someone who is using an ipad with a keyboard, it’s currently easier to use the website.
