4.8 out of 5
Frustrating App

This appears to be really simple, but is frustrating. Theoretically, you should simply be able to click on the “+” button and choose from you recent photos - however, I can try it 25x and it will not show me my recent photos (only those already uploaded). And then I can try it again and it allows me to choose new photos. I spend way to much time trying to upload. Was so hopeful, but this is not a consistent app.

Suddenly locked out too!

Just like the review above says, I would have given Tripcast 5 stars, but how can they not have a way to retrieve a forgotten password? I didn’t even forget my password but it is locking me out. Can’t log in with google. Can’t log in with Facebook. Nothing works. Now everything I had on here is lost. Emailed for support and still awaiting a response. I’m a teacher and use this for trips abroad that I chaperone so the kids can share photos in a private setting. I have invited all the kids and parents to an album that they’re all now on and I can’t get on - a few days before we leave for our trip!! So beyond frustrating. Maybe someone will email me back from support, but until then I’m reiterating how stupid it is not to have a password reset option on Tripcast so you don’t have to go through the trouble of finding the support email address (also not on Tripcast ) and waiting for a response.

No longer working as designed

I used to love Tripcast and have been using it for a few years. The recent changes to get paid subscriptions seems to have broken the flow.

First of all, I don’t see why you’d have bothCluster and this app apps when they provide almost identical features. Use one and combine the geo location feature with the photo/video sharing you’d have less to maintain and your costs would go down.

Secondly, how can you remove this app from the Google Play store before having an update available? You leave everyone hanging that isn’t on IOS.

Lastly, for me the map feature stopped working recently. After looking at some of the changes I thought it was due to going over the 1,000 posts per group for the free service so I upgraded to the “friends” level. The map still doesn’t show the location where the pictures are taken in my iOS app. I tried to exchange emails with support to get this resolved but so far I’ve received nothing that helps.

And yes, location is turned on, I deleted and reinstalled Tripcast ,…. None of that works and at this point I believe I need something from the Cluster support but am not getting anything. For an app I pay for I find this not very acceptable…

Suddenly locked out

I would normally give Tripcast a 4, except that, after using Tripcast for years, I am suddenly being asked to log in or being told my info is in the wrong format. There’s no option to retrieve my password (which I think I’m getting right but with no “forgot password” option, who knows?—Oh, and it doesn’t say incorrect password. It just sits there and does nothing). The page is blank when I click on app support. I have years of pics and trips on Tripcast that I suddenly can’t access. I can literally see my pics flash on the screen right before it resets to its new account screen. I am looking for app support. This is happening across multiple devices.

not a good place to store memories

I highly recommend that you do not use Tripcast to store memories of trips. Main reason being that all photos and videos that are uploaded are compressed way too much and they end up looking very, very pixelated and horrible quality. because of this lots of memories have been gone because the pictures are no longer recognizable, even though they were shot on like the best camera ever.

Pretty Good

I got Tripcast to study abroad. Overall it’s easy to use and share with friends and family. My only problem with it is that you can do something like a daily album. Instead each picture uploads one at a time to the timeline and needs its own individual caption instead of one for a group. It would also be nice if you could reply to people’s comments. There’s tons of people asking questions about the pictures and updates but no way to answer them. If these two features could be added Tripcast would be 💯

Update: took another star away. It’s really annoying how sometimes you will hit post and nothing happens. 20 minutes of typing is gone and no reason why whether it is a normal note or picture caption. This isn’t the first time it’s happened to me. There is no chance to save it either. Would recommend to anyone using it that they paste everything into a notes app on their phone before they try posting and lose it all to Tripcast.

Love/Hate relationship

Am using this for my 2nd adventure this year and I really do like the slick way it works.

What I HATE is the fact that this app duns (that is, keeps pestering), me and all my contacts to buy a memory book. So, although for my 1st trip about 70% of the people who were invited signed up, only 40% for my 2nd trip signed up—they just do not want to keep getting the emails from TC pestering them! My friends know I am an advanced photographer and they can ask me for a print of a photograph they like: they don’t want a book!!

So, developer: TAKE NOTE— build a “Freemium” model: Either (1) it is free for the user and this app can pester all recipients mercilessly, OR (2) the user pays US$0.50/recipient for first 50 recipients who sign on, and US$0.25/recipient above 50, AND this app DOES NOT pester recipients to buy the GD book!!!

In my current case, with 110 invitees, if all had signed on, knowing that they would not be harassed, I would be (happily) paying the developer $25 for the first 50 recipients and $15 for the remaining 60. A total of $40.

Under the current model, the developer gets nothing and many recipients of the invitation to follow are not because they are being harassed by “Marlene” from this app.

My next trip, maybe I’ll just create an email address for the entire 110 list as a “group”.

memories and experiences

It was easy to use but couldn’t find a way to put more than one photo on a page. That totally frustrated me. Too many photos to choose from. I’ve used other services that were more complicated but I also could get much more creative. A trade off I suppose.
For a simple book it works.
But I enjoyed seeing what my fellow travelers posted (photos and their comments). ..that was cool. And yes some of their photos were better than mine.
NY in Portugal

Not the easiest!

My wife and I started a group as two separate posters. Posts constantly were shown from my account and not hers. Trying to resolve we merged and then lost access to the group. Started a 2nd group and for some reason although I used two different addresses for her neither show up on my list of people in my group although she can post.

Needs more functions for ease of use

Would like to edit the text in a post after it is posted, mainly to correct my typos.
Posting photos takes too long, sometimes gets hung up and I have to cancel and re-do, and, I have to try to remember what all my comments were.
Would like to have a temporary place to store posts to work on before I post them.

Love but want improvements

I love a lot about Tripcast!
But there are some things that I wish were changed...
1. I would like more flexibility in organizing photos once they are uploaded in app. I entered about 6 photos, then I realized I missed one... I wanted to upload it when I discovered it was missing... But I discovered I could not move uploaded photo to place it in a time sequence that made sense.... You cannot move photos once photo is taken by camera in app.. nor if you upload from your own photo file... to correct this error I had to delete photos, then re-upload all photos that were deleted and add text again.... this made using app very tedious and unfriendly...
At the end of app I just threw in photos because I could not delete the some 200 photos I had added to correct the problem.
2. The 2nd improvement I would like to see is the ability to edit photos taken by camera within app... I had a number of pictures that were too dark for the content to be distinguished and iris always nice to be able to crop... I know I could do that on my photo app and then upload photo... that adds lots of steps when you’re trying to go fast...

I did love the ability to push a button and have a book in a week... so close in time to the trip that you still enjoy showing book and talking about it... I also liked the fact that some people want to see photos along the way of the trip... There is, however, a learning curve both for the traveler and the viewers....

Close but needs more functionality

Your apps are just what I was looking for but I want them combined and enhanced slightly

I love the subscription ability to archive in Cluster but wish it could create a PDF or document with all of the content not just photos.

I love the add a map function in this app but wish it was in Cluster.

I wish there was an option in this app to purchase a PDF instead of a photo book or add add subscription option into this app for content download.
The issue being sometimes I want an electronic copy of my travel log.

Another thought would be to team up with another photo book service that would allow editing of content in the book prior to printing the book. Would love to have photos and maps and text entries all in the book with time to adjust layout before printing.

Finally one question, is it really true that I can only use this app for travel with USA. If so, that is a deal breaker for this international traveler.

Love this app

I have been using Tripcast for 4 years. It’s a great way to share pictures and comments as well as allowing friends and relatives to make comments. I enjoy the ability to share photos as we travel with a group of chosen people rather than putting pictures on Facebook or Instagram and allowing hundreds of people to know I’m out of town. It’s also nice to be able to look back 4 years ago and see the photos and comments of my trips. It’s a great way to keep a pictorial journal. Most of the problems encountered in our experience have just been user error or not understanding how to add people, photos, etc.

Five star review

Tripcast is so helpful and all of your friends/family can use/take pictures and post on it. Also all of the family can look at comments and picture posts!

Love this app !!

This is our second year using Tripcast for our travels. Still love it!
We used Tripcast to share our last 4mo trip with friends. It’s private and everyone gets to comment and they don’t have to be on Facebook which for a military and law enforcement family is great. We will be using it on next trip in a month too. Thankyou.

Easiest photo app ever!

Love the ease of sharing photos AND selecting, sorting, and captioning photos for my own photo memory book from Tripcast. My book arrived less than a week after I placed the order.

Ease of use

this app is a perfect way for a group of friends to share photos, videos and comments with each other. It is easy to use and the pictures are of great quality. Even short videos are of great quality. We used it during and after our Road Scholar tour together.

Memory pictures

What a great thing that we have this to review all our pictures from a memorable trip to Yellowstone with Road Scholar. Our historian was Leslie Stoltz, leader was Glynis Lovel and our driver was Brandt. What a trio that made the trip the quality it was. Now with pictures to put on we can remember the many memorable spots we visited.

Going out west

Friends and family expressed an interest in following our trip. We discovered this app and it has been fantastic. It is incredibly easy to work with and let’s you upload both photos and video. Our friends have commented how fun it has been to follow along. They especially noted the geo posting feature

Must be related to cluster. Same account.

Works great! lets everyone in the group share photos to a central location and make “Photo Books”
