Bitterly Disappointed

2025-02-20

by Beth Kooyman

I called UCLA on Monday March 27, 2023 with covid asking if my doctor could prescribe any medication. I had to call back later in the day after not receiving any response from UCLA. I finally heard from UCLA after 4:00 pm on Monday. A tele visit was scheduled for 9:30 am on Tuesday March 28,2023. I signed in and waited for 20 minutes before terminating the call as the doctor was a no show. I called to complain about the no show on the appointment and then a doctor called me back . After I relayed my symptoms she offered a medication with possible side effects that I do not care to risk. I am very disappointed at how non- responsive UCLA has been. Having UCLA as a treatment facility is akin to having no doctor at all. Thank you for a very open display of incompetence and unresponsive personnel. Beth Kooyman

I have complained to your complaint line and in an online message which said there would be an answer sent within 48 hours. I have heard nothing from my request for an appointment earlier than Jan 19.
I suggest that you 1. Hire more support staff. 2. You treat staff with greater care and respect. 3. Train them better in what is considered a problem that is not routine. 4. Raise the salary of current employees so turn over is not so great.
Instead of asking patients for evaluation of services do some evaluation on your own and prepare to make much needed changes!

Too Much Bureaucracy

I’ve got COVID. I’ve been sick for two days. I need my doctor to phone in a prescription to my pharmacy but UCLA insists we have a video conference. He’s not available so apparently I’m getting some doctor I don’t even know and it hasn’t been explained to me if this person is FaceTiming me or is it through the portal, do we do it by phone or do I have to be at my computer. This is very simple, why are you making it so goddam complicated? I’m not trying to get some dangerous narcotic! I just want the COVID medicine!
