The app crashes and exits to the home screen on both of my iphones proving it is not related to one phone or the other.

To resolve HOBOmobile network issues, Reset phone network settings:
1. On iphone, goto Settings » General » Reset » Reset Network Settings.
2. Enter device passcode » confirm [Reset Network Settings].

Force Stop the HOBOmobile App
1. On android, goto Settings » HOBOmobile » click [Force Stop]

Clear HOBOmobile App Cache and Data:
1. On android, goto Settings » Apps » HOBOmobile » Storage » click [Clear Data] option. This clears both data and cache.
2. restart HOBOmobile.

On android, goto Settings » Apps or Manage Apps tab.
Click HOBOmobile » [Force Stop]
Next, goto Storage » click [Clear Data]
Again, goto HOBOmobile » Mobile Data » [Allow Background Data Usage].
Go back to Settings » Connections » Mobile Network » Network Mode. Change the network to 4G e.g. LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
Relaunch HOBOmobile
