Keyboard usage needs a re-design

I use NoMachine daily on an iPhone. I see two major issues, both related to the keyboard. 1) The row of extra keys at the top of the keyboard does not work correctly on the iPhone. You are supposed to be able to slide it left and right to access all of the keys. However, about 80% of the time performing the sliding action causes the keyboard to disappear. You have to re-open the keyboard and try it again. This makes typing a *very* frustrating exercise. The sliding action needs to be removed. I would rather have two rows of extra keys. Even better, one row with a configuration option to choose the keys you want. the keys also could be made smaller. Look how small the letter keys are on the iOS keyboard. 2) The second major issue I have with NoMachine is the keyboard appears directly over the screen content you are viewing. I have used other remote apps that use some intelligence to “zoom” the content out or slide the content up when the keyboard appears. I find myself re-adjusting and re-zooming the screen content every simgle time before I can type, then when I type I run into issue #1 above. Seriously guys, the keyboard needs work.

Almost Perfect

I’ve been using NX on my desktop for quite some time and I’ve always been pleased with the performance and ease of use. The iPad app offers the same experience with only one drawback: Audio Streaming to my Bluetooth headset doesn’t seem to work! Instead, it will default to playing through the speakers (on my iPad Pro 11). Not a huge deal, but that’s the only thing keeping me from giving it a 5-star rating. I hope to see this addressed in a future update.

Works great, but update is overdue

I've been using NX on my desktop and laptops to work on a consistent VM, and has worked solidly. The iPad app has the basic functionality down, but could use an update for better support on iPad pro. A couple of issues to note:

- Resolution locked to older iPads, so there's black bars on each side.
- If using the new Smart Keyboard, the mouse works but two finger scroll doesn't work. It makes it very difficult to scroll on the remote machine.

Improper Aspect Ratio on iPad Mini 6

this app works great and offers much better performance than VNC when I connect to my Linux box. However, on iPad Mini 6, the aspect ratio is ‘hard coded’ to be 4:3 and doesn’t allow the aspect ratio of 1.523:1 that is the iPad Mini 6 screen. I hope there will be an update soon to fix this.

Needs a lot of fixes for ios 13

Mouse and trackpad support does not work well and there is a lag with in using it on the ipad especially when watching videos. I have been using it on Ubuntu and there is a lot that can be done to make the experience much better for the ipad especially when using a mouse and trackpad. I tried going to the forums but I have never gotten an email confirmation. I have tried it with two different emails and nothing. Hopefully there is an updated coming for the ipad because this application has a lot of potential for the ipad.

Linux and Windows with sound

NoMachine work nicely with Windows 10 and centos7. I have installed other apps before and struggled with getting sound specially in Linux distro. NoMachine solved the sound problem and the interface is very clean and intuitive. It even finds available VMs in the network automatically.
Thanks developers for making such a great app for free.

Great

Working perfectly, even better than PC version in my surface (there’s always some kind of display issues and I don’t know why) , not mentioned to be better than that RD client. All in all, one step closer to the future PC I think.

Any plan to update?

Doesn’t seem to get updated anymore.. on the iPhone XR it doesn’t seem to have the notch support since the notch clips the screen so you can’t see the whole desktop.

Terrible and left in the Stone Age

The developer makes empty promises of updates and revisions... NoMachine has not been updated since 2018! You cannot import SSH keys as they app is sandboxed and cannot access and iPads file system. The instructions on their website tell you to use iTunes (which doesn’t work even for Catalina, let alone Big Sur).

NoMachine was written using non-native tools, software decoding for graphics... talk about no effort.

Quality deteriorated

Very disappointed with this latest release. I use an iPad Pro, and the fonts are noticeably blurry - they were never before. I've tried all manner of things on the server side to correct, but to no avail, and anyway the issue is clearly due to this new client release.

I understand that the release was targeted more to the iPhone. I get it, but as an iPad user I am just not happy.

Remote audio cannot be played with Bluetooth AirPods

It always plays in the speaker, please!
Thank you for the great job.

I really want this to be good

NoMachine is pretty much unusable on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The problems begin when menu titles are hidden under the display notch, and navigation buttons are nearly off the top of the display. The same issues is also there when controlling a computer, this is the only app I have used where things are actually hidden by the notch.

However the bigger issue is that when using touch mode the touches happen somewhere different from where I actually tap. And the keyboard will not open.

Please update NoMachine ! Once this is usable again I’ll be sure to update my review!

Typing issue, otherwise ok working with wayland

Problem writing upper case letter with iPad pro 9.7 keyboard case. Upper case can be only be written if pressing keyboard icon and pressing shift there, not working with physical keyboard shift key or apple touch keyboard shift key also. Please fix.

Needs iPad Pro support

Works great and love how it works across so many platforms. Just needs to be updated to use the full resolution of the iPad Pro and have keyboard and mouse support!

Needs improvement

I’ve been testing this for a few weeks and the verdict is that it’s not stable/reliable enough.

I regularly have issues reconnecting to a machine (blank screen). I end up needing to fallback to my old tools to login and restart the service on the remote machine.

Way too many clicks to switch between monitors.

Remote cursor lags like crazy (both devices on same wired LAN) and is difficult to see.

Finally

I had been glued to my iPad for weeks ever since i saw they had submitted NoMachine to apple for approval. I constantly typed this app for weeks until yesterday when it showed up. It works great and I'm still testing it to see its limits. Great app :)
