Good App For Power Users

My wife and I have been using FLIRCloud for well over a year now. We use it a lot to check in on our pets through our Lorex FLIR surveillance system. FLIRCloud and system have been very solid. Reliability cannot be questioned. Picture quality is outstanding when viewing Main stream, ok when viewing Sub stream (to save data).

I’ve read many bad reviews of FLIRCloud and felt I needed to share my experience because mine has been very good. I held back one star because the Lorex system and FLIRCloud are not at all intuitive. Great system. It can do things to run circles around the many packaged wireless systems out there. But you really need to be a tech guy with patience (or a pro) to get it fully setup and running those circles. If you’re that guy, go for Lorex. You’ll be impressed. If you’re the plug-n-play type, be warned. You may be frustrated or even dissatisfied.

Huge improvements after recent updates!!!

I’ve been using FLIRCloud for both home and office use for now over 4 years. I was a little disappointed at first. FLIRCloud was very buggy and would crash multiple times through out the day. Sometimes the motion alerts didn’t come through and it was a bit disappointing. Finally after many updates later this past 6 months have been completely bug free and I’ve been very satisfied with FLIRCloud. They’ve come a long way and it didn’t shows in the results. Overall very impressed and therefore Ive changed my review from 2 stars to 5. Couldn’t be more happier with how FLIRCloud performs now.

Surprised

I read all of the negative reviews and was quite worried setting up the system. I was kind of hoping I went with another system because of the bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised that set up of the system was very easy and set up of FLIRCloud to connect with the system just as easy. I had no problems connecting under Wi-Fi or LTE. I was able to see all cameras very clearly, and receive notifications for motion detection. Very easy set up. Note-having a 4K display will help. I hooked it up first on a 720 and was a no go, then a 1080 P, worked fine but ultimately hooked it up to a 4K television and it was beautiful. Easy set up, nice app.

Useless for security

I have only installed three of the cameras. I see no point in installing the others. I can see what is happening in real time through each of the installed cameras. However I cannot see back in time because the system will not properly record. The system is set to provide an alert when it detects motion, and I receive a notice on my phone and iPad each time someone approaches a camera’s field of view. But incredibly the system does not keep these notices in its “event list“, so no record is kept. Worse, it will not configure to record continuously, so I am not able to review past footage at high-speed to determine when an event occurred or determine what may have happened on a specific day and time.

Horrible Connection Speed

It seems as if with each update, the connection speed is getting slower and slower. I have timed FLIRCloud for my phone: 12 seconds for one square to populate and 20 seconds later, the other 3 finally show up simultaneously. Only 2 squares populate on my iPad. This is definitely not going to make me feel more safe and secure when I hear noises outside at night.

Not user friendly

Please use a more contrasting color for the playback marks. (The marks at the bottom of the screen to show movement during playback) They are yellow on white and very hard to see.
Also please make it more user friendly. My system is recording on a very low quality and it makes it difficult to see any identifying features at night of people walking by my front yard because the quality is so bad. Please make it easier to change the quality of my recordings. At this point I have no clue how to do it and I have read the manual and I consider myself pretty tech savvy.

Terrible - don’t buy Lorex

FLIRCloud doesn’t fully render on my ipad (a new IPad Pro). The left side of the interface doesn’t load all the way. I get icons on the left but not their full label.

Despite that I can use FLIRCloud to get in and see live views from my cameras. That’s pretty cool.

But if fails when I try to review recorded video. There’s no instruction on how to do this so the trial and error required is time consuming and frustrating. But it can be done. That would be bad enough but FLIRCloud will not respect the time/date range I set for the video time period I want to see. FLIRCloud defaults to ‘movement’ (I can guess what that means but no where does it say what the settings mean on this pane. Anyway, I set if for one to four of my cameras, continuous recording and play and when I get to the time period I want the image degrades and skips ahead by minutes.

On sum, the interface is marginally functional, frustrating and desperately in need of improvement.

Solid - Reliable

Have used FLIRCloud for Lorex system for a number of years. App works great on all my devices. Was surprised how well it performs on LTE even with a weak cell signal.
Interface could be a bit more user friendly, but it has a certain logic for those who have worked with basic monitoring systems.
Have used other brands and so far Lorex has been the most consistent.
PTZ function also works well and is responsive.

Reliable App

Not sure what people are trying to do on FLIRCloud that would warrant a bad review. It has worked very well for me. I can view all of my cameras at any time. I can get notifications when motion is detected. Set up is easy and FLIRCloud is free. I’ve never had a problem viewing my cameras via FLIRCloud and it has been extremely reliable. Did I mention it’s free?

It's worked perfectly fine!!!

I've used FLIRCloud for 20 months and it's worked perfectly fine. I have a few other household members use FLIRCloud on their phones and it also works fine. The only issue is when I don't have a good data signal on my phone, but that's my providers fault.

Unacceptable

After using FLIRCloud for a few years to view my cameras, about eight months app stopped working, and I am unable to connect remotely to view my cameras. I have called their support more than once, and still the problem is not fixed. The last time I called support, someone was to return my call at a specified time, and I was only called back when I received an email stating that my ticket with support was being closed, and I informed them that I was still unable to connect as I had previously.

Don’t Believe Preview Pics above!

My app looks nothing like this and my pictures of active cameras is basically useless on my iPad. The pics are so bad I actually started to look for a new system. Then I checked out the tv my NVR is hooked to and realized there is nothing wrong with my cameras when viewing on the tv. Only on the iPad and I would assume my iPhone. Uninstalled and reinstalled app and it still gives me a trash picture and my app looks nothing like the one pictured here. No customer service available and link to app support is dead!

Hacked - time to change brands

This was good at first, but had nothing to compare it to. Then I found out from the local news (not from Lorex) that these DVR’s had a backdoor access to hackers that could not be blocked. Google it, I couldn’t believe myself! All my camera names were renamed to Hacked, and the only fix from Lorex was to disable remote access. Ummmmm hello that’s why I have the cameras so I can monitor when I’m not here! Now there are a lot of other systems so when I upgrade it will NOT be with this one!

Sadly it maybe time for another system

I’ve love Loren for years but software stink. Connection an issue especially now. They have not kept up with the basics. Last change broken connection. Only works 30% of the time

I need reliability. Sadly they are not. If I cannot see remotely and get alerts then forget it. Ring works much better. I guess I have to convert over. Sad

Sub-Par

Forget the privacy policy, FLIRCloud is just plain awful. You basically can view your cams if FLIRCloud feels like it and the interface is counter-intuitive and very difficult to use.

They haven’t updated FLIRCloud nor PC Client in ages and it shows. We’re not asking for a slick app that can organize our underwear just one that gives a smooth user friendly experience.

Cmon FLIR!
