Twitter used to feel alive.
You’d open XChat and instantly know what was happening in the world. No fluff, no weird sorting, just real time thoughts from real people. It felt raw, and that was the whole point.
Over the years they chipped away at that. First the timeline stopped being chronological. Then everything turned into a fight for engagement. The best posts didn’t win anymore, the loudest ones did.
Verification getting sold off was the turning point. That used to mean something. Now it’s just noise. Anyone can look legit, which means nobody really is.
And if you’re actually trying to build something on there, good luck. Shadowbans, random reach drops, mass reporting… there’s zero consistency. One day you’re growing, next day you’re invisible.
The rebrand to X just made it worse. Feels like they threw away everything people actually cared about and replaced it with… nothing.
It’s still usable, but it’s not the same. It went from a place where things happened first to a place where everything feels filtered, forced, and a little fake.
I tried logging into this app on my personal X account that has NO GMAIL linked, yet when trying to sign into that account on the iOS app, it FORCES Google sign in, even if you don’t use it. Nice try, invasive and totally unnecessary for app functionality. Can’t even get logged into to use it, try again. By try again, I mean you, the developers. Not sure if it was intended to trick you or if someone totally overlooked the MOST INTEGRAL part of XChat and first obstacle, logging in. Maybe lay off the Claude.
“Could you please add a translation feature? Many apps already have it. Without it, it’s not very friendly for people who don’t speak foreign languages. This feature is very important to me. I really need it. Please consider updating it soon.”
For many users, there is no need to have a shortcut link to open a social media and start doomscrolling, on a Chat app.
Not even Meta does this with WhatsApp.
X Chat should give the Option to remove the bottom left permalink to open its social media app, and keep it OFFF by default. I bet creators would appreciate it, and they can enable it as needed.
For now, this is giving bloatware vibes
i really don’t know what’s the point
Same as with X. The product is still raw and needs more time to wait.
I live in Russia and everything has been blocked by Roskomnadzor, viber, WhatsApp, telegram, twitter, discord and so on, thank you so much for releasing this chat, now I will have a place to chat with my girlfriend and friends.
I like being able to go into my X messages with a standalone app but would like to see more options like stickers, etc etc
Add New Feature to delete all messages from everyone
It is also very convenient to add people and communicate. I highly recommend it. It is much easier to use than WeChat.
I think I'm the first person to post a comment here. I was just excited to try it. “I just downloaded it, and I can’t wait to explore all its features and see how it works.”
It's a pretty good start, but some features are missing. For example, there's no way to see if a contact is online, and a proxy is essential, since many countries are currently experiencing access issues.
Thank you, for creating a messaging app that truly respects end-to-end encryption.
I’m glad they added a separate app just for messaging.
One of the best apps. The best. I use for my empire fleet operations it is much better than the other chat apps ! Nice
You can download and use it now.
There is finally a need to end encrypted chat. this app is fun, useful and full of features. Did I mention it’s encrypted?
It works well, but I don’t really see the point of it.
Good app nice and clean. I wish you can add your phone number and call
On the page, select a password. I type the password, click OK, and then it freezes.
XChat is very safe to use.
