Everything about the mechanics and design of AskADoctor are designed to take your money in the simplest way possible with little strings attached. The quality of the doctors help and advice can be good but they often waste the follow up questions you pay for by asking stupid questions and even if you are excessively and overly thorough and descriptive, ask "are there any other specific symptoms." and after you reply with an immediate "no," they don't respond for another 5-6 hours. For those turning to AskADoctor when scared and ill, the quality of the advice can be good if you're prepared to wait many many many hours between responses. Also customer service responds within two days so no help there. If you do decide to use this, get the unlimited and cancel it after asking different doctors until you get a relevant or well formulate response. Don't expect any sense of urgency or care.

The free version isn’t worth using. I am struggling financially and 100% can not pay for premium. So I tried using the free version. I wrote out as clearly as 160 characters allows my question and background to the current health issue. Yet both responses from doctors said they didn't understand the question and to write it clearly.
1. “Should I stop using the antibiotics?” That is what I wrote as the question. It is simple and clear. What do they not understand about that question.
2. Yes I wasn’t able to type out the background perfectly but I made sure the important parts were in there and understandable.
“Im being treated for an ear infection with antibiotics, the swab test came back with no bacteria only yeast.”
Followed with the question.

I don’t understand how the doctors on AskADoctor can’t understand that!!!!!!

I'm not sure why there are so many positive reviews for AskADoctor. You cannot do anything without paying for your question. You can ask a free question but you cannot attach images or reply to your question with more details etc. the answer I got for my question is asking me to upgrade to paid question. You can go for webmd or mayo clinic if you just want to read answers to other people's questions. Also it costs $17 to ask a question which is ridiculous.

I have had two experiences with this site, the last being absolutely terrible with a so called Dr. Divakara. After waiting 7 hours for a response, I got a one 6 word line answer with no opportunity to respond back w/ further question. I now have to waste a paid question & resumit & hopefully get someone with half a brain & personality that will communicate with me. Bad Experience. First experience on different matter, was answered within an hour, this Dr. was very nice, informative, gave opportunity for me to ask a few more questions. What a BIG difference.

I almost never write reviews, but man, they need to fix their app. I want to write a question and when I hit the limit of characters for a free question, it asks if I want to pay, and I say yes, but it does not work. God! It’s so annoying.

I tried cancelling the subscription, but it turns out AskADoctor wouldn’t let me! I contacted them, and they told me they had cancelled it. One month later, a subscription fee shows up on my bank statement. What is this, a scam or lack of management?

I wanted AskADoctor to ask 1 question and I immediately deleted and tried to cancel the subscription after I got my answer. Since, I’ve been charged 3 additional times because there is no option to cancel it within AskADoctor . I called the number on my statement and can’t get in contact with anyone, and I’ve emailed them multiple times with no response. I just really want to stop the subscription and I honestly want a refund for the multiple months I’ve tried to cancel to no avail due to their unavailability.

As far as the answer itself, I’m an RN and I honestly didn’t receive any pivotal information outside of what I already knew. It may be beneficial for those who don’t work in the medical field or don’t have a decent foundation in health, but not me.

I think the title says it all. I paid $18 to ask 1 question with 2 follow ups. The original question was answered quickly, but included medical terms not easily understandable. It was a good answer though and helpful. My follow up question took 15 hours to get a response. So much for 24/7 service as advertised. I also agree that a limit of 160 characters for a question is ridiculously limited. Sorry won't use again. Don't waste your money.

I tried the free two questions. They are very short, like the length of a tweet (Twitter). First response was plain wrong and I couldn't respond unless I paid (what would have normally been) an additional $18. Wow. The next response o received clearly didn't acknowledge my question either based in the response I received he was unaware of newer information. I would not recommend AskADoctor based on my experience as it was too expensive to go back and forth trying to correct a doctor. It may sound pompous but when I recent study shows a vaccine prevents X from reoccurring in Y patients and the doctor claims the vaccine isn't helpful for Y patients. They're plain wrong. Oh well, there are other apps out there I'll try.

App has a few bugs in it. Sometimes various words will show up as symbols. Other than that it’s really great if you have a question or searching for answers. There’s been occasions that it takes quite a while for someone to answer your question. Love that you can upload lab results and images directly to the portal. Some of the doctors are fantastic others or not. We have a very rare disease and have gotten some great ideas from some of the physicians here.

The free questions only give you 160 characters, and you cannot ask follow up questions or add pictures. If the cost weren't so high, it would be a great resource. Maybe consider lowering the price for a question to around $5-$10 instead of $18. The doctors do seem very knowledgeable and were quick to respond. The only issue I had is that it is unaffordable for many.

Limited characters make it difficult to describe ailment. Doctors randomly ask questions that were already addressed causing the user to use up their question on ridiculous replies.
Then to have to pay $18 bucks to reply to original question is a bit pricy... Especially when the dumb dumb doctor repeats the question.

Good tool to help with today's healthcare issues and great for hypochondriacs.

This sites Dr's give you an inexpensive alternative which consists of a consult that includes compassion, details and reason.

I like that AskADoctor saves the time of going to the doctor. Especially if you have embarrassing questions and the fact that it's anonymous makes it even more easy to use. Although it would be more convenient if people didn't pay have to write longer questions. AskADoctor would definitely be a 5 if they have you more than 160 characters.

This is a really great app, you get feed back in about 5minutes. The only thing is that, you only get two free questions and have to pay. They should make it 5 questions. Otherwise, I love AskADoctor.

What an excellent tool for all of us struggling to deal with health issues today! Normally we have to accummulate our questions while waiting for our nextedical appointment. With this tool, you can get an answer immediately. Sometimes, also, I have been told by one doctor that I will have to ask another specialist. With AskADoctor, you don't have that problem!

I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread!

At times when medical information is needed this is a very helpful app. You can not always get to a doctor and it is expensive when sometimes you just need some clarification or information. AskADoctor also helps lead to the type of medical support you might need which cuts the frustration of multiple visits through a list of different specialists to find what you need.

Came across AskADoctor while researching a health concern my husband was having and have found it to be one of the best apps yet! It's great if concerned about a medical issue and are unable or simply don't know if the situ warrants seeing a doctor or even urgent care. The doctors have always been extremely helpful and very considerate of my concerns. I highly recommend AskADoctor whether you're simply looking for a quick answer to a questionable health concern or are one of those anxious worriers who just need some peace of mind at times!! You will always be satisfied with the result!!

Her answered my question with details are did not use words that were unclear and the answer was very clear and in detail and it is not some random answer because he had details from my question he has gave me the best answer out of the other doctors I have asked. Definitely 5 stars!

This is a handy resource. You can ask a question 24/7 and response comes within 24 hrs- most of the time within 2-10 hrs. I like that a wide variety of specialists are available and does not cost per question like some other web sites.

AskADoctor is a life saver. The Drs were not only quick to respond, even late and early hours, they gave accurate and informative advice. They explained why they were giving the advice they did. I highly recommend AskADoctor and service. Well worth the price and peace of mind of having Drs on hand 24/7! Less than the price of an office call.
