As with everything from DietDoctor, this app is beautiful in design, easy to use, and has solid information. I have made many of these recipes from the website and they are tasty and healthy. Highly recommend this app and the Diet Doctor website, videos, health information and podcast. The premium membership is well worth it, it will add menu planning to this app and access on the website to hundreds of top-quality videos. One month free trial available. Only request so far is that it will be optimized for the iPad. A larger format would make cooking in the kitchen easier. If you are eating low carb or ketogenic diets, this is the best recipe app I have seen so far.
Shopping List feature isn’t customizable
If you want to use this app to have your shopping list on your phone, just realize that you can’t customize your meal plan. If you customize your meal plan and send the ingredients to the shopping list, it just sends the ingredients for the original plan. I ended up with not enough of some ingredients for meals I wanted to do twice and then I bought ingredients for meals that I had not intended to make. Also, the shopping list kept jumping and rearranging itself, so I ended up not getting a few items that I needed because stuff at the bottom of the list had jumped to the top. Basically, this is only good for looking at the recipes.
Update challenge to 2019 & web to app integration
I am looking forward to talking the 2019 challenge, but the app is not yet updated with the new meal plans. Currently if you want the 2019 challenge plans in the app, 2 weeks of meal plans have to be created manually. A real drag! Sync between app and the website would be great added functionality, so that any changes will be updated to both my account & the app.
Everything I Want & More!
I became a member immediately as the benefits are worth it for me. I’m over more structured “programs” and healthy and mindful eating has worked wonders on how I look and feel. This app brings what I loved about the Kitchen Bowl community with my preferences for low carb and Keto. I love knowing more is coming in recipes and food combinations. Like a shopping app, I don’t view this as a healthy “recipe” directory but more of a personalized ongoing inspiration and support.
I am really enjoying this app. But one issue is I am unable to view my favorites list. Another issue is when I add things to my shopping list, everything is added as a separate item. If I have one weeks worth of items in my cart, and let’s just say eggs are in every meal, it will put eggs 21 times. Rather than just having one slot for how many eggs you need. Please fix!
Works for me
Nicely done, and I appreciate the shopping list feature. I wish there were more recipes, for example, there wasn’t a single soup recipe. Still trying to learn how to navigate it though so it may get more clear in time.
Love the app
I love the app and the recipes, I’m a monthly subscriber and I think is all well worth it. I wish I can download the app to my iPad to make cooking in the kitchen easier than bringing my computer to the kitchen. I hope in the future you can incorporate a keto calculator to calculate the macros. Thanks for such a great product.
Subscription required to view recipes?
Many of the recipes look delicious and I understand a subscription is required for Meal Plans and shopping list. However when I try to view a recipe, the instructions aren’t visible. The photo and ingredients are there, but no instructions. For example keto deviled eggs and buttery harissa shrimp there are no instructions but Keto chicken nuggets with green beans ha instructions. The app states recipes are free. Please clarify.
Glad to have this on the go
Very excited to have this information in a mobile app! The meal plans and shopping lists will now be with me even when I leave my written list in the car or on the counter top.
Displeased with screen
I love this app however it only allows use of its recipes in the vertical mode. This makes it very difficult to use on my iPad as I am cooking. Can this me fixed to view in horizontal mode.
Is there a way to search for favorites? I mark the heart icon but can’t find those later without looking through everything. Otherwise, I love it!
Great filter for finding recipes
Great UI. I like all the filters to help me find the right recipe. I wish you made a tracker that allowed me to put in other recipes and things I ate.
Are you looking at adding in an interface to shopping services e.g. Instacart here in the US? Apps like emeals have a good example and it is incredibly useful!!!
For iPad Soon?
The app is wonderful. But, the orientation is for iPhone, which means the images are oriented awkwardly for iPad and small. Will there be an iPad version? Keep up the excellent work!
Good meal plans but app is not too good
You have great meal plans but why am I not able to create meal plans on the app? Whenever I go to the meal plans tab on the top right, it goes completely blank. Please fix this, especially since I am paying for the app.
