Boycat, as you can clearly tell by the title, is unethical. And illegal, full of lies, hatred and misinformation. You're seriously trying to boycott a country that is defending itself (and has every right to) against Hamas terrorists who love to kill Jews, non-Jews and animals just for the sadistic fun of it?! That is absolutely absurd, and one of the most uneducated things someone can ever do. Also, it won't do anything except limit the things you buy and use until you're left with nothing at all. And Boycat is one of those things, since the chip of the very phone you're using it on was made in Israel! Don't trust me? Than Google it! Oh, and now I can see exactly which products to buy in order to support Israel against her hate-loving enemies. Am Yisrael Chai!

I can’t seem to get past the “sign up” screen to actually input the boycotts I support. Not sure if it’s my phone or if it’s actually Boycat ?

I feel like this is a fab idea, but the only cause you can support is pro-h*mas? I was looking to boycott antiqueer/trans and racist companies — not looking for ways to make things easier for terrorist militant factions 🙁

The scanning feature constantly fails, and I have to repeatedly close and then open Boycat to get it to work. Requires me to spend a lot more time at the grocery store scanning products. Also, holding products up to my phone for minutes as I troubleshoot makes me look like a weirdo.

It could just not be optimized for my iPhone.

I know the basic brands that should be boycotted, however when I scan products under a brand that should be considered under boycott, it is considered safe by Boycat . I’m not sure if this you’re past a beginner.

The idea is great but some bugs are preventing it from becoming greater - for example, signup doesn’t work at all and shows an error screen that says “database load error after signup”. So even though it didn’t sign me up it say it may have and to top it off there is a load error. Hope the developer will fix these soon. I have yet to check Boycat with many products by scanning which I’ll do over next few weeks.

Great app, but I have 2 comments concerning the zoomies section.
Firstly, when you’re scrolling down the cafes, groceries, and restaurants nearby, the part showcasing it is so tiny, you can hardly see the name of the places, there must be an option to drag it up where you can read several places at a time.
Lastly, I got Carrefour as a safe grocery option nearby, yet when I search for Carrefour in the “Discover” section, it’s displayed to me as a boycotted store.

I’ve been using this when going out to buy snacks. I really love how Boycat explains why each product/company is bad, as well as providing the source. I also like how you can find and suggest alternatives! My one suggestion would be to have a toggle where you can make the text a bit bigger. The text for products is a bit small, but still readable.

Love Boycat, have been wanting an app like this for years.

It’s 5 stars but keep in mind there are still bugs and tweaks BUT when I DM them about the issues they are 1. Super kind 2. Quick and diligent to fix them

In a world where corporations don’t care about the greater good, I love that Boycat helps me keep my boycotts. I’ve been a boycotted not just for 2024 but since 2020 for fast fashion, slave labor, etc so I can’t wait to see Boycat cover more causes bc unfortunately there are a lot.

it can be so hard to be a conscious consumer, especially because of monopolies and “parent” companies. Boycat is so helpful and i’ve found it easy to use! i do think there is room for more within Boycat, but i believe that will grow with time and as Boycat developers are able to put time into it. i would appreciate it listing the boycott campaigns, but i also understand theres a lot of limitations there! it could be nice to have a social aspect to it, like listing your favorite boycott-approved items for your friends to see alternatives. but again, i know this will take time. i appreciate the team behind this and i’ve sent it to many of my friends!! thank you ❤️🍉

Some say Boycat is only a gesture. Few people will it and fewer will act on what they find within it. I disagree. The economic interest that sway our government, often against our better interest act with impunity. This at least allows a level of transparency on the level of our basic purchases. Boycat is very light and clean. No unnecessary features or buttons or other junk. Very straightforward and easy, which is a must for an app you want to use consistently.
The list of companies is pretty big so they’ve done proper work.

My only wish, for the sake of even easier and faster usability, is for the barcode scanner to simply grab the barcode as soon as it recognizes it, instead of making user tap Scan. Some apps have that feature so its possible.

Hopefully Boycat gets supported so the list of companies is up to date, etc. but please dont add any unneeded features or steps.

This little app’s impact is huge. The convenience alone is transformative— it was getting exhausting to Google every product before buying it and comb through subsidiary websites. This makes it easy. Mad props to the developer/s, way to do something meaningful

I love Boycat. It made my life alot easier and guilt free. Its especially hard to know who to boycott since companies are buried under different names and its also equally hard to pinpoint exactly what makes them complicit to whatever horror your against. With this apl, you dont have to spend hours researching every time you need to buy something.

The first thing I did after downloading it was to scan everything in my refrigerator and cabinets 😌 turned out I had two products that didnt belong in my cruelty-free household… good riddance.

Boycat truly accomplished its purpose of telling you what items support/do not support Israel. You can quickly scan a barcode and get info within 3 seconds. I highly recommend installing!

i've been waiting for an app like this! while i have not had any issues with Boycat myself, i understand that it's currently still being worked on and added to! i love the new list feature, makes it so easy to just search for brands. wonderful app made by wonderful people!! Boycat is a must have!
