First the pros: the graphics are outstanding, with excellent anime-style character designs that evoke the best of the series. The sound, music, and special effects are equally outstanding.
The cons: there is some serious misogynistic use of these gorgeously animated characters. Sure, the series and many JPG games are not known for fully clothing their characters, but here it is the intentional use of titillating camera angles and body physics that is just wrong.
Every female character who is not petite in their physical endowment has their chest jiggle extensively every time they move. I’m talking about gravity defying, what the heck are they wearing under that shirt, over the top jiggles. It seems the characters move in certain ways just to be able to show this off (as the camera always seems to be centered on it).
Worse, the camera likes to circle in the most blatant areas to overly sexualize the outfits. One early scene with Ryza (who yes we know her shorts are indeed quite short), the camera actually goes far lower to the ground than is needed when she bends over to be able to show her underwear underneath. Completely unnecessary and cheapens a beloved character from the series.
The combat is a bit “meh” with the focus on stuns and timing access to bursts, but does reward planning and seems more effective played manual than using auto.
Gatcha is gatcha; too early to say how fair this is as only some beginning pulls so far.
