Inaccessible

I like the product principles on display, but the design has sacrificed basic usability on the altar of minimalism. Folks, an edge swipe gesture cannot be the only way to go back up a navigation stack, and a vertical swipe cannot be the only way to close a modal sheet. In Anytype you cannot leave a modal sheet or a navigation child view when using VoiceOver. Default touch UI users also have expectation and muscle memory to tap a back button where it usually appears, which does not function.

This is a productivity tool, not SnapChat. Please use the basic toolbox and conventions of iOS.

Frustrating interface, clunky to use, nice concept

It is difficult to use when writing notes you cannot easily select all the text you write if there are new lines they want you to individually click on each block of text! No way to easily export from your individual notes on mobile. Graph view is buggy. It takes multiple clicks to add something as simple as a tag to a note. The concept of sets doesn’t seem to easily allow selecting multiple different object types with a similar relation.

Overall, too much extra annoyance for what should have been a simple user interface. Disappointing because local first is a great idea.

Massive Clunker

Looks pretty and is nice to type in, but there’s a known issue with devices not syncing. Sometimes you can type on your iPad and watch it appear on your iPhone in real time, but more likely you can let both devices sit half a day and nothing will sync up, not even a simple sentence, kilobytes of data. I’ll be watching for updates but it’s not worth using until one of the core features actually works.

This app as so much potential, but…

I absolutely love the way this app functions in the user interface. It is super easy to organize spaces, create notes and lists. Anytype has so much potential, however the backend is so buggy it makes nearly unusable. The sync feature between iPhone, MacBook, and iMac constantly creates “untitled” files that have nothing in them and which don’t correspond to any file I created.
The files I create in a collection don’t sync to that same collection on my other devices. I have to spend time hunting them down in the all objects folder and move them to where they belong.
For now, I’m leaving this app, but I’ll keep my eye on it in hopes these sync issues are able to be fixed.

Was impressed until…

I’m trying to find an alternative to Notion because their mobile app makes me want to rip out my hair and is unusable offline. I was pretty happy with this app and was close to committing on making it my main productivity app but there’s no formula function for automation. I use formulas a lot and can’t lose the function. I’d definitely commit if functions were introduced.

Let us hide inline collection titles

I love this app, much more than Notion. However, this small issue is quite annoying. I know many have been asking to be able to hide inline collection / sets titles, I was hoping that with the new iOS & macOS update we would finally get it, is such a simple thing to do, yet instead we got a new spaces sidebar.
Another thing I find annoying is that I can’t choose which space I want Anytype to open to, it defaults to my entry space, which is not my main space. I don’t have this issue on Mac, Anytype will open to which ever space I was using the last time before I quit Anytype . Again, I still love Anytype , and really appreciate that is free :)

Better than notion

Anytype is absolutely fantastic for organizing basically anything plus it works offline and is just so much better than notion / air table I recommend to anyone who wants to organize anything

I need widgets and calendar notice

Awesome app, I have been used for a month now, can't live without this app, it's my second brain, helps me to organize my life and goals.

I really need widgets and calendar notice, please consider these two suggestions!!!!

Noice 🤓

I love this so far. It’s been a little confusing but I’ve been learning over time. I’m using this instead of Notion right now since I can attach any media file of ANY SIZE without paying anything (cough cough) and I love how customizable it is, reminds me of Obsidian. Keep it uppppp!!!!!

LOVE THIS APP

It’s fast, works offline, privacy-first, object-oriented, super flexible. Literally everything I’ve been looking for. I am now in the process of porting my entire life’s data into this app and having a single “wiki” for everything in my life that I know is secure and private has been a game changer.

Can’t create a new type

Love it, finally something to sort out my chaos. I can’t create my own new type with Anytype , and in the recently edited view when I long press to and click move to bin, it just opens the object instead of moving it to the bin.

Okay, this app is brilliant.

At first Anytype takes a bit getting used to. But once you find your niche it’s brilliant. Ultra-privacy focused and has amazing speed on desktop and mobile. Way better than notion as a personal tool. Haven’t used it collaboratively but works for my use-case.

Private, my forever

I think of writing as a superpower. From diary to powerful strategic documents, this app is the best writing tool for me. Especially because I know everything is encrypted, stored on my device and no cloud company can decide if i have access to the years of my writings

Just a banger of an app

I’ve been using this to help organize both my life and my novel. It’s really great for both. The only downside is not being able to see the maps I created on mobile. But linking pages together to make chains and display a rough map for my story is very cool on pc.

Abrasion Free!

This update was so needed. It will be so much easier to create work flows. Sometimes simplifying and reducing options creates focus on how to set up a system. Thank you to the developers. A lot of the abrasion I experienced previously is now gone and except for a few little quirks that I suspect will be ironed out in the weeks to come, this update is a game changer.

Like Notion, but Encrypted

I love Anytype! I’ve been using it since the pre-beta release, and I can’t say how happy I am to have found something JUST like Notion, but with privacy at the forefront.

You can take quick notes, make databases and tables, write, and so much more! I love the peace of mind it gives me that it is both stored locally and encrypted. So grateful for Anytype and the team that created it.

So many great features

As a long time Notion user, I’m really excited for this app as it addresses many of the concerns or issues I’ve had with Notion. YOU own your data and it’s stored locally, which is something I’ve been wanting for a long time. E2E encryption, referencing objects directly within a note - the feature list is robust and I can’t wait to build out my space.

Great offline Notion alternative

While still in beta, missing some features, and still polishing out UX and onboarding, this app provides a vast majority of the functionality of Notion, except its offline and private.

I was fully invested in Notion since their early days, and am now slowly migrating to this app because not having offline access to my notes and data isn’t acceptable.

I broke up with Notion

this app is a great blend of Notion and Obsidian’s features, while not feeling overly complex to pick up and learn — especially if you're already somewhat familiar with Notion’s workflow.

The speed and ability to work offline is what finally won me over after years of being a daily Notion user. I do miss Notion’s excellent spreadsheet-like tables, but hopefully this is something that will be added down the road.

Safe & private

I’m really enjoying Anytype so far! I’ve fully transitioned from Obsidian and partially from Notion. I love its linking feature and the overall simplicity of its design. I just hope it will eventually support tables, charts, and formulas like Notion does.
