Beyond the UI problems, Meritrust is garbage. I have now had two payments scheduled through Meritrust not process. I had confirmation and scheduled it, but Meritrust and the backend lost it. Additionally, payments will often show incorrect amounts due.
Double check everything on Meritrust and make sure it is correct because it will screw you over for this app CU’s benefit.
This is on top of other servicing issues, including botched data migration when implementing this system. They started demanding I open more accounts because they screwed up a data ETL. Basic stuff and probably in violation of the agreements made with Visa to even connect to their network.
So all the grandstanding running up to Meritrust release the new app is terrible. I understand they would have teething problems, but I think this needs a little bit more help than that. Good job, this app. I gave you one star the only reason being I can’t give you zero.
This new app has everything a person hates when it come to using an app. It’s basically just a mobile webpage, stuffed into an app. They took out the widget functionality that allows you to easily swipe over and view your account balances, which I used all the time. The UI is confusing and hard to use, and has the look and feel of something from 10 years ago. Instead of being able to quickly make a payment on a loan right from the loan account page, It now takes you over to the transfers page which, in my opinion is again clunky and unintuitive compared to the old system. my biggest question is why didn’t they just take the old app and update it with a new features. Whoever decided this was a good idea should be fired, because it was not.
The old app format was way better and easier to use than the new one. The new one doesn’t let me make payments on loans or deposit checks like the previous one. Everything you try to do is ten times harder. I’m literally contemplating changing completely to my another bank. Apparently your regular costumers aren’t important enough so you make us change apps while your business costumers don’t.
Extremely frustrated with Meritrust right now. I have not had a single issue until lately. App is taking forever to load and no there is “a problem returning the information,” and I have to try again, and again, and again. I try to log in on safari and it just takes me back to Meritrust where I am having the issues. Some features great, but these bugs need to be fixed ASAP!
The this app app used to be great, no issues. Since they have “upgraded” their app to be conjoined with a new website, it is awful. Bad enough that I am considering switching banks since Meritrust is what I primarily use for bills. Meritrust rarely works. It rarely loads in the first place, and if it does actually let me log in, then the accounts take a while to load. I have zero idea how they think this is a better system. I have iOS which may be the problem, but I never had issues with that on the old app.
They made a huge downgrade. Half the time my accounts won’t show up. It’s the slowest app I’ve ever been on and I do not have the ability for a “quick balance”. Honestly will probably change banks. If they made the decision to change from an app that worked great to THIS. Imagine what decisions they’re making with your money.
The old app worked exactly like a banking app should. This new app feels like it’s simply loading a webpage for each menu and everything is extremely slow to load, although it seems to be getting slightly better. The interface looks like a website from the early 2000s though.
My biggest gripe - there’s no landscape mode for the iPad. All in all, it’s a big downgrade from the previous app.
I know it’s still new and some glitches might get fixed but the whole set up in itself feels like I’m back in the early 2000’s. It seems so dated to me. I feel like the old app was more user friendly. This new mobile app is horrible. We also have our business account with this app and the business app is so much easier to maneuver.
I have been trying for two weeks to pay my bill. It declined my cards. Then won’t allow me to link a bank account. It’s been terrible. App is confusing and doesn’t work properly. I’ve called and called and called. Then to pay over the phone I was told I would be charged $15. But I was willing to pay it just to not deal with the people and Meritrust . Then they couldn’t accept my card because it was husbands and he wasn’t present. Wow this is how you treat your customers. Crazy can’t use your app but let’s charge crazy amounts for service. I’m disappointed and won’t ever be using this app again after I pay off my vehicle. Please fix these issues app worked fine before the update.
My whole family is taking our money out of this app now. The dumb drive through screens was the first red flag that they don’t care about their customers. Now they’ve forced us into this broken new App so that only their “Preferred”business customers can use the other App that actually works. Can’t even log in, and I’m not wasting my time calling you to maybe make it work. You had something that worked, and then forced me to not use it, and instead use something broken, not my problem. I’ll just go elsewhere, probably get more interest anyway. What a joke.
the process for onboarding everyone to the new app is a disaster. You have a route set up to get my member number but it ends with nothing. It doesn’t tell you at the end. Many flaws and glitches.
Harder to use than the old app. Really not a fan of this layout or how it’s set up.
The new app compared to the old app is terrible. The layout is crummy and low-definition. The color scheme is ugly. It’s slow and just all around awful. The previous app was far better and more advanced. PLEASE GO BACK!
The old app was not perfect, but this one is awful. The old app was missing a few things that I missed from other apps I had and still have, but overall it was still offered a pleasant user experience. This one is awfully dated, and has been since the day it came out. Seriously that loading graphic is dated, doesn’t rotate, and looks like crap because it’s not sized properly. Please either fix Meritrust, or admit that you made a mistake and just go back to the old one.
Meritrust has taken several steps backwards in terms of convenience and ease of use for this app customers. What used to be an easy process to transfer funds is now a multi-step, clunky ordeal with multiple different screens involved.
The spending alerts are also useless, as I will get multiple alerts at once - hours after the actual spending has taken place.
I was excited for this app to role out their new app, but after downloading this I wish I could go back.
It’s been over a month and now apps like EarnIn can no longer detect my account or well the proper bank because you changed everything I’m honestly considering just to change banks cause Meritrust is significantly worse than the last one the last one had problems sometimes as well but like it was a lot better than what we have now I gave it a chance it’s not good
I haven’t got many problems with this app the bank but I hate Meritrust. They used to have a beautiful app that was easy to navigate easy to use and had some fantastic features to help you budget track total spending and some net worth features with graphs. I was using Meritrust at some point every day. Then sometime late last year they switched us non business people over to this current pile of garbage that looks like it was ripped off a website from 2002. I still have a hard time finding some of the features I used to use while being convinced that some don’t exist anymore. I hate Meritrust so much that I’ve thought about closing my account and moving to a different bank altogether.
I have downloaded the new app and so far through the setup process am disappointed. I have had to change my UserID and Password criteria. This information should have allowed the same parameters as the previous app.
I just want to know my balance and now I can’t even get past that step up.
The old app was quicker, better, and not broken so why would you need a new one?
Meritrust is really slow and doesn’t load.
this app obviously prioritizes their businesses over anything else. They create this new “easy to use app” that doesn’t work. You call their help number and press the button associated to the issue and it hangs up on you. Maybe take care of your day to day customers that also have needs. Figure out the bugs before screwing everyone over. Very disappointed in this company that used to have great customer service.
I like this app but Meritrust is pretty poorly made compared to the other this app app. I thought since they were wanting us to transfer to this new app it would be new and improved but its pretty cheap looking compared to the other one.
This new app is horrible. All the good ratings are the staffs putting in the reviews to get it rolling.
It lags and hard to locate when wanting to find specific things. Try again and do better please.
I logged in first thing today and it worked fine. Now I login and my account info isn’t loading. I attempted the chat feature and it wasn’t loading either. Seems Meritrust may have some bugs to work out
This bank seems like they’re trying to make it more and more difficult to bank with them over the last few years. Now they’ve taken one of the better mobile and online banking platforms out there and made it worse.
In response: No change isn’t that hard when it adds better features and benefits. You’ve taken away the ability to search transactions, you can no longer view specific date ranges of transactions and instead have to continually scrolling down to load more or look up old transactions by digging through pdf statements. It no longer separates your loans from your bank accounts and instead just gives you one jumbled mess of accounts. Don’t try and play off your poor choice of an upgrade as my difficulty to deal with change.
I can’t remember who I had helping me set up this account but he was wonderful. He was probably the only good part of this new app.
I think the old app had a pleasing design and functionality, where this one feels like not much effort was out in at all, making it harder to use. I would prefer to have the old app back or make this one similar to that.
These 5 star reviews out there have to be fake. Probably encouraged customers in their lobby or even employees to write them. Still won’t make Meritrust as good as the old version that you took away and gave to your more prosperous customers with companies. There’s no reason you couldn’t have invested in that same style app for a secondary customer base. I’m probably going to close my account soon. I’m already tired of having to do the email thing every time I need to glance at my accounts.
Meritrust is not very user friendly. And takes awhile to load all my accounts if they load at all. Maybe i was just spoiled by the other app but to me this new app is a HUGE disappointment.
Thankfully, I have not had any of the interface issues many other reviewers are talking about, as of yet, at least. I am completely confused as to why they launched this new app though, other than a couple of new features, which easily could’ve been added to their previous app, the only difference I notice is the entire user interface looks completely different in a bad way. The previous app looked modern, pleasant to look at and clean. this new app seriously looks like something I would’ve expected to see on my desktop computer back in the late 90s or early 2000s on windows XP. Terribly outdated look. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that launching this new app was completely necessary for security purposes, and as long as it is functional, I won’t complain too much, but it’s definitely a big downgrade from what we previously had though.
Honestly. I don’t like the set up of the new app. It was so much easier with the other app. I’m not sure why or who’s idea it was but I am not a fan. But it will have to do I guess.
Will there be a widget available for IOS like the previous this app app had?

Functional? Sure. But Meritrust looks like it was created by a 12 year old. Fit and finish of Meritrust is sub-par for sure. Hope their subsequent updates improve the look. These things matter, especially for a banking app.
New open is horrible! I can not review transactions. It barley loads! Why would you change something that worked! Meritrust looks like it’s easier but it was not ready to be released yet!!!! Fix it and give me my old app back in the mean time!
You logged me out of my online banking on my computer three separate times today as I was paying bills I had to start over a fourth time to pay all my bills. By logging me out all these times that is so much time to my bill paying that is supposed to be simple.
There were no warnings given that my time was running out. Your system bounced me off unexpectedly each time.
The new app took something as simple as making a transfer into a chore. Making loan payments used to be a couple of clicks but now you have reselect the loan then the account to transfer from and then select the date because it defaults to the due date instead of the current day. If I have an account selected and click transfer it should automatically select that account.
Several times today I wanted to look in Meritrust and every single time it requires the extra verification. I checked all of my security settings and Touch ID is on. I’m visually impaired and it’s harder to see the transactions list. The numbers are bold but small. Meritrust is not as smooth and seamless as the original, which I read is going to be used for businesses only now. How nice for them. May have to put my 70+ grand elsewhere after a couple of iOS updates and it’s still problematic.
Your older app was a good design and UI. That’s the main reason I stayed with this CU.
The new app is decent I like being able to see my checking account info when looking at the account instead of having to go into settings but that’s it. It runs extremely slow and it’s not very pleasing to look at. Reminds me of a bad website from the early 2010’s
I use my iPad with a keyboard and the screen in landscape mode. Will an updated version of the iPad app rotate, similar to the old app?
I’ll give you guys the benefit of the doubt that this is still under construction since it’s a new app, but as far as user experience, this one seems much clunkier and much less visually appealing than the old one.
Was able to re-enroll and get this new app quite easily. I guess my question is: what was the point of switching mobile apps just for it to mostly look the same (but more confusing and with the green?) Also, please bring back Quick Balance 😭🫶🏼
The new app is clunky and slow. It looks like it was developed 15 years ago and is honestly an eyesore. It feels like they didn’t put in the effort to hire a UX designer for this project.
In the end, Meritrust gets the job done. However, this app should step up their development game.
This is the first bank/credit union I have ever been associated with that truly makes you feel welcome, and not judged for wealth, what you have IS important enough for respect! I’ve been a member of this credit union for over 2 decades and never crossed my mind to leave it. Recently I had an issue with my Roth account Jarrett and Kristen helped me with. They are both exceptional people to work with. I had a miss understanding on the process of funds from Morning Star. Still don’t agree mailing paperwork to process in today’s world with Fax etc. Stock market changes daily and 10 days is to long to close an account. That’s management above them. Thank you Jarrett and Kristen for being so professional and patient with me.

Justin over at the this app branch on E 21st St N helped me open up my extra account. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly and courteous. Justin was ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations; which are ALWAYS high! He even set up my mobile banking app and my mobile account for me! Justin was a sheer delight to work with. I was a customer previously about 10 years ago and decided to try them again because they are so close to my home. I’m home again! Thanks Justin for going ALL out to help me with my new account!! I’ve been a this app member for 20+ years, but didn’t realize that my checking account number and member number are different. I tried to re enroll for the online and mobile app but it kept giving me an error, so I sent a message on the chat. The following day, Nick called and was very helpful and patient with me while I tried to re enroll. He got everything working again. Thanks so much for the quick response from Nick. I truly appreciate his kindness.
I love all the new features! The new app gives me such much more control over my money and I love the color!
I LOVE the new app!!! From the colors to the functionality…it’s so tech forward and fun to use. I like how I can personalize it and arrange my accounts and services how I want to see them. The accounts have so much information and ability to navigate through the system so easily!!! Great job this app!! You make banking fun!!
