First off, let me say if you are not a moviegoer, you will be once you get “this app.” Talk about a game-changer. I love watching movies, but if you are like me, thinking, geez, why am I paying $15-$30 for only one film? When I can be paying $10-$30 to see everything that comes out in theaters a month. Um, no brain! I got the $20 package, and as a board member of the Movie Goer’s Club, I watch two weekly movies. I might even see three in a week if I want to rebel! I was a part of the first this app years ago and am very upset that we’re gone. I didn’t burn down my local theater or anything in a rage; now, that would be silly, lol. this app is life, and being able to go to the movies weekly knowing I’m not paying an “Omg what this receipt says” price is very comforting. I recommend it to all my friends, coworkers, family, and even strangers to get this this app. Plus, the slick black card makes me feel like a Puerto Rican, lol!! Everyone needs this card to enjoy its monthly benefits. If we all get together, we can even see if this app can get us a discount on concessions. I mean, it doesn’t hurt to try, right? #this app #MOVIEGOERSCLUB #MOVIEPASSISLIFE #WATCHDEMALL #MOVIEBUFF

I was an original Movie Pass holder and I am so happy to have it back again. For only $10, I can see two or three movies a month. All you have to do is pick the movie from MoviePass while you are nearby the theater, and it instantly loads on your card. You pay with the card just like any other credit card. You can even use other rewards cards at the same time. If you don’t use all of your credits in a month, it rolls over for a maximum of 68 credits. I can’t imagine using more than that in one month. You can even cancel your ticket through MoviePass if you change your mind. It is all very quick and simple once you learn the process. If there is ever an issue, customer service responds quickly through MoviePass . I see so many more movies than I would without Movie Pass and it saves me a lot of money. If you watch even 2 matinees in 3 months, it pays for itself. Unlike the theater-specific clubs, you can use this at any theater chain. I’m not sure why other users have complaints, but that has never been my experience. I highly recommend!

Funny my first review isn’t here. I was a subscriber years ago when they first started out & was sad when they stopped services. I was ecstatic when I got the email about their return. I got the middle option, I think it was $15, but I wasn’t going often enough so I changed to the lowest tier which is $10 (68 credits). The credits NEVER rollover like the company claimed they would. I had issues with the card not working but it would take my credits (in the beginning). Multiple attempts to reach customer service were made with no results. Emailing, never get a response. Using the chat in app just ends your chat when you get to a certain point. I was charged for this recent month & my credits are 68. I usually go to Galaxy & movies or times have not been accurate at all. Lately nothing shows. I went to a different theater (Regal) & the movie wasn’t listed so I had to choose the “my movie isn’t listed” option & was deducted 30 credits for a 15 credit movie. Fine, but I should have a balance of 38 not 8. It deducted 60! I cancelled my subscription since it’s not even worth paying for the hassle. I do NOT recommend this service to anyone. I’m going to get the Regal unlimited pass instead, way better & I know their customer service actually works. Save your time, money & frustration.

I signed up when the beta version rolled out in my area in March. I have not experienced the issues others have mentioned here. The only issue I have experienced has been with MoviePass itself. When looking at the movie list for a theater there are sometimes missing movies on the list and so there is no way to reserve that movie for that day and you will need to wait for another day or so for it to resolve. Also, per this app process you have to be physically near the theater (in the parking lot or mall) to reserve a movie. I wish they would widen the geo fencing on that policy. As for this app itself I really cannot complain about their $10 plan. In my area you get 34 credits a month and points roll over 1 month. This usually for me works out to two weekday evening movies a month or three matinees a month. In my area most matinees are 10 to 12 points. Most evening weeknights shows are 15. Opening weekend evening shows will cost you a whopping 30 points. Overall, considering how much a ticket costs in my area, ten dollars is a bargain. Glad to see them back with a more sustainable business model.

There are way too many things wrong with MoviePass. I used to have this app way back in the day when it first started so I was glad to see it come back even though it was in a different format. My first month using MoviePass went ok but now I’m starting to find a LOT of flaws and setbacks. The customer service is complete and utter trash. There is a chat option that is completely useless. I have tried using it many times to address the many issues I’ve had with MoviePass , and I’ve never once been helped or gotten back to. In fact, the chat box disappears as soon as I try to start typing a conversation. The past couple times that I’ve tried using MoviePass now I’ve noticed that it’s only giving me options for 3D showtimes (if the movie comes in that format), and that is not what I want. I don’t know how to get around it and it is really starting to get irritating. These issues, along with many others, need to get addressed quickly or I don’t think I will be renewing my subscription.
Edit:
I’ve now canceled my subscription because other than what I’ve previously stated, MoviePass started giving me more issues. The biggest one being that it wasn’t showing any showtimes for like 90% of the movies listed. Such a headache and just not worth it anymore.

I think people can be kinder to MoviePass reviews considering this whole company is in a Beta phase still. Yes, getting customer support is very challenging with them but as someone who builds digital products for living, I believe MoviePass is growing by leaps and bounds and making the moviegoer experiences better with each update while keeping the bottomline in check thus allowing them to truly grow as a business in a lean fashion. Yes, the experience is not as great as the old movie pass app but I hope this company and thus their app evolves to the much better stage.
Overall, for the current app - while there are glitches every now and then and some experiences could be better, I have always been able to easily find movies, easily check in and buy a ticket successfully and enjoy my movie experience.
Good job, Movie pass! Continue to progress you are making.

I was a this app subscriber way back when they did the first go around. Loved it, used it all the time. Went to the movies like five times a week. So I was very excited when this app came back around. It worked great for one month, but then when I needed to update my payment, MoviePass completely locked up my account that I paid for and I reached out to customer service multiple ways about 50 times and they kept telling me the fix is a do it yourself fix in MoviePass . I kept telling them there is no fix in MoviePass to update my payment like they are telling me there is. After two weeks of repeatedly telling them this, they finally reached back and said, a new update will be coming out in a month and I had to wait for that because they couldn’t fix my problem before then. The customer service for this company is almost nonexistent, and all they want to do is refer you to questions previously asked rather than helping your individual problem. Then instead of correcting your individual problem they want you to wait for app updates. Totally unhelpful. When MoviePass is working and functioning correctly allowing you to see movies it is great. But, don’t run into a problem…

We were original subscribers to Movie Pass a few years ago. We loved it and we were sad their business model was not viable. Fast forward to early this year and Movie Pass is back. Unfortunately we have had a terrible experience. They are overwhelmed with all their problems and it has caused major customer service issues.
My wife and I have over 100 credits banked, but can’t use our cards and their App. Just in the past 2 weeks we have had to pay for 3 movies out of pocket and they just say “sorry”, but refuse to reimburse us. MoviePass has bugs in it the the point where they even made our reservation. We showed up at the theater only to find out we had no reservation. Earlier this year we emailed Movie Pass about excess credits being used; they said we would hear back in 3-5 days. Sent them a reminder after 10 days, and now 3 months later we still have not heard back. The Regal theater we go to told us they are having consistent issues with Movie Pass.
We just cancelled yesterday and I guess we never will get to use those credits. Our advice is NOT to make the mistake we did. Movie Pass is not ready for prime time!

I tried to use my card at a theater. The movie showed up before I left for the theater but not when I showed up. I followed MoviePass instructions for that problem but it didn’t work. I even tried to check into another movie that did show up. The person at the ticket counter tried multiple times. I then tried to reach customer service but all I got was we are busy helping others. My suspicion was there was no one actually working since it was 9:30p on a Saturday night. I ended up paying out of pocket for the movie. I went through the motions on MoviePass for support to address when they weren’t “busy.” No one bothered to respond at all. A week later I sent a direct email rather than through MoviePass . Five days later someone finally answered it with some lame excuse, which was not true. They added 15 credits. Even more lame. How about refund the $16 I paid out of pocket or not charge my next monthly $20 fee?? Who knows if MoviePass will malfunction the next time too? I suspect they’ll go down once again because they still can’t get their act together.

Had troubles logging into the website for a prolonged period of time. Troubles inviting friends to join when MP invited me to invite them. Had issues getting into the theater I wanted and then another time, at the show time that should have been included. Missed a show because of this and lost my points because they expired. And actually, the points are lost too fast if you don’t use them. If there are no good movies out, basically you lose the opportunity to use the this app in the future too as the points max out quickly and then new points are just lost. It is a bit inconvenient to have to drive to the theater to buy advanced tickets and would be better if they could be purchased online but I could live with this if I didn’t lose so many points when there isn’t anything I want to see. Had it for about 6 months but am seriously considering cancelling as there really isn’t much advantage to the pass in terms of saving money and it is more inconvenient to use this app than buying tickets online.

I used to be a member back in the day and was super excited when I heard movie pass was coming back because I still love going to the movies but could really only go on Tuesdays because of it being cheaper. So I was invited to be part of the beta then added to the waitlist and as soon as the waitlist was over I joined then I came to MoviePass Store to download MoviePass and was scared due to all the bad reviews. I can say I’ve seen 4 movies now with it and it’s been easy everytime I check in once I close to the theatre typically after I park and then I pay with the card and it goes through easy. Only thing I can say bad is it hasn’t updated credits used so after I use credits for a movie it doesn’t update to tell me how many I actually have left and I would like to see what’s movies I’ve seen with the pass as that was an old feature years ago but overall I’ve had a great experience and recommend it to anyone that loves going to the movies.

This new iteration of this app is not without its flaws, however the value of the service is still unmatched. I’m currently spending $10 a month for this service, which gives enough credits for about 2 movies per month. These credits will also roll over if unused for the month which is another amazing perk. I recently saw a movie at a local regal theater at 10PM and paid about $12 for the ticket. this app had already saved me the two dollars on just the single movie, making it already a better deal.
This could be a five star service if it always works. But it doesn’t. I’ve had the card be declined several times even though we had followed all the steps at the theater, reserved the ticket yadayada. Even though I had to pay out of pocket for my own ticket that time, the overall cost of the tickets I’ve purchased within this last year vs the cost of this app is far less with the service. Thanks this app

So unfortunately I have to retract my 5 star review. I. First month ish I had this app it was great, at least until I needed to change my form of payment. They claim they rolled this out but it doesn’t show anywhere in settings or anywhere in MoviePass for that matter. Now my account is locked. It says click join so I do that, and it says I’m already subscribed. But my points which I paid for were all erased, and now I can’t use my card. I have tried to reach customer service 1000 times to no avail. MoviePass is in beta sure, I understand that, but I have paid 40 a month for myself and my partner also pays 40 a month. This is not cheap (we have also only been to a couple movies and don’t even come close to using most of our points). If you can’t handle the small amount of customer service inquiries for just the beta….how can you do this when open to the public. You took my money and I can’t use my account or app. I am pretty disgusted and will be filing a chargeback at my bank for all charges. It was nice for the first couple times I used it I guess. Shame on this app

So far so good. Some hiccups early on in the reboot (winter 22-23), but those are to be expected. Good price point. Love that the credits roll over every month, that’s a dealbreaker for this model, so I’m glad that’s the case. I’m a movie lover that prefers the theater experience, so I’m very glad this is back and working well for both parties involved!
Next steps technically would be online ordering so I didn’t have to be physically present in the theater to purchase/reserve ticket and seat, but instead be able order my specific seat in the theater from work, home, wherever (nowadays I feel like that’s standard with other movie theater apps and even though this is a third party, the bar is the bar; the standard is the standard. A few have that option on the this app app but most do not, including the theaters I use this app for.
But I still say this is a good deal and I recommend it to friends! Thanks this app for making a comeback!

I was an original user. I loved Movie Pass but knew the old model wasn’t viable. They had to be bleeding money. Anyway, the new version seems to work ok. Sign up was easy. My card came quickly. I would like to be able to reserve my tickets sooner. When I have to wait until I’m at the theater it’s too many cards to juggle. Points are also an issue. 15 points for a movie at 10am. 20 points for a movie at 1pm and 30 points for a movie at 4pm. My plan is the $10 one. I can go to one movie a month because my schedule just doesn’t allow for a matinee. My theater has a $5 Tuesday. Cheaper for me to go that route. Even if they lowered the points for the 4-6 twilight showings? I’ve been holding on thinking changes would come after some time but it’s not looking good. I’m not expecting to see a movie every day for my $10 but right now I can get 2 if I’m going at 10 am and it’s just not worth it.

I was a this app user back in the olden days. I used it several times each week for a couple of years before the company went belly up. Then I hopped onto the new this app Beta months ago (last year, maybe—I can’t recall). It worked mostly flawlessly for me for a while—until the past month, that is. Any time I open MoviePass , no matter what city I’m in, it says that there are no movies showing anywhere near me. It also throws up an error message any time I try to view my subscription information in MoviePass . This means I am paying for a service that doesn’t work at all and doesn’t allow me to cancel my subscription. It’s just gone absolutely down the toilet over the past month, and that’s the case for most people, it seems. You can look at other recent app reviews and search Twitter for complaints about the exact same issues. They are abundant. It’s atrocious and needs to be fixed pronto. Additionally, every user should be credited for an extra month (or however long this service blackout continues) when everything is fixed.

I joined the waitlist and then the beta test when they first opened. I was really excited for this newer version of this app, but it’s turned out to be the same failing company. First of all, my card took forever to arrive, and then I received a random second card that cancelled the first one. I finally got it working and was able to go see one movie with the card, but now, my account has vanished. I have been unable to use my this app for almost three weeks because my app is suddenly saying my account is not active, and I am unable to access my account info in MoviePass to fix it. I have reached out to the support team on at least 10 occasions, and they have responded exactly once, to tell me to check my payment info in MoviePass , even though there is nowhere in MoviePass to access this. Other than that one message, I have not received any response from the support team for the last 3 weeks that I’ve had this issue. This company had potential, but it’s been a downhill slide from the very beginning. NOT WORTH IT. Try Cinemark or AMC instead.

I am an original this app users, and that system was easy to abuse. This one is not, which is good. So far, everything has been working the way it’s supposed to. this app is accepted at all the theaters near me and so far I’ve used it twice without issue. Planning to use it this weekend. The only thing stopping it from getting a perfect is that sometimes, the theaters don’t have all the movies. So you’ll see an icon at the bottom that says “Missing Movie”, this will allow you to still go and see whatever movie you want to see, but it will require the maximum number of credits. If I wanted to see a movie right now, it’s 10 Credits. If the movie is missing on MoviePass , it’s 20 Credits. I’ve not gone to see a movie because of that. One theater which was showing about 12 movies, only showed 2 on MoviePass . The rest were maxed credits on a Tuesday.

All the theaters around me offer online ticketing days ahead of time. Unfortunately, with this app you have to buy tickets in person just before the movie starts. It's basically like being on standby hoping there are still seats available for the movie you want. I had several times where I tried to get a ticket, only to find it sold out by the time I could buy a ticket. The final straw was when I went to three different theaters trying to get into a movie. By the time I got to a theater that wasn't sold out my this app card kept getting declined. I tried contacting customer service to get it figured out only to find it was an automated chat that said someone would hopefully respond to me within 24 hours. That left me just paying for the movie on my own. The response that finally came days later gave no actual solution to the problem, just an apology and a thank you for your patience.

We haven’t had any significant issues (only once needed to restart MoviePass to refresh the movies.)
Our nearest movie theater allows us to use the movie pass to pre buy tickets from home. Although not all theaters around us have that option.
We often go to earlier movies on the weekend so use less than half our monthly credits per movie. Just one movie per month saves us money! My husband and I both have accounts so have to coordinate purchasing at the same time.
The credits roll over which helps if you’d like to go to popular movie times but those movies are a lot of credits. Around my house it’s 12 for early weekend but 30 for an evening movie (I live in a major city)
We are definitely glad movie pass is back!

I was on original subscriber and used it quite a bit. I think I’m using it even more now.
I’ve had a couple of issues early on but both were quickly resolved. MoviePass had the address or gos of the theater wrong so even though I was at the box office it said I was too far away to check in for my movie. I reported it and the theater info was updated. Second issue was my first rollover of credits should have been 10 credits but only 1 credit rolled over. They fixed it right away (and actually gave me extra credits on top of it though I'm not sure that was done intentionally).
So far it’s been working great and I am absolutely getting my moneys worth (and so is the theater because I still get snacks). I have the $10/month plan and that’s plenty of credits for me to see pretty much all that I want.
By nani_1678
Your plan says 2 movies for the basic plan, and gave 34 credits and each movie with online/convenience credits if it is not a matinee show it is around 37 credits unless it is a old movie where theater itself sells the ticket a low price. If you are just gonna compare dollars to your new useless credit system what is the point of purchasing your plans to start with. 1 movie is nearly 34 credits and even with that its just one movie and if I am a second tier subscriber, I can barely watch 2 movies. I can pay the same amount to Regal or AMC memberships and watch more movies. The next worst thing ever is your payment, intial movie-pass has a physical card which is very easy to use and now a virtual card where cashier is going to type the card number and all in the system, you can make that even NFC compatible which can ease the payment process little bit less complicated, no you chose to make it a virtual card go to stone age and ask a busy employee in a theater to type out the whole number and process the ticket if only your plan gave enough credits to purchase, else have to buy extra credits which would make it easier to buy the original ticket straight at the counter. Just useless business logic one bankruptcy is not enough you are out here to waste your investors money with this crazy idea.
