HSABank is horrible and, despite the 1 star review, it doesn’t seem like they are doing anything to fix it. Where to begin? The log in is a pain. Most of the times, you have to try two times because the first time it’s just stuck. Despite telling it not to challenge my device, I kept having to do an extra step to verify before I can move forward. And once I finally get into my account, HSABank is sooooo slow at doing anything. And MANY TIMES my claim gets rejected because the system did not receive the second page, despite showing that it did. And that took me awhile to figure out as the rejection notice is very ambiguous about why it rejected my claim and what it wants from me. You get a standard rejection notice. AND DONT EVEN TRY TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE because I gave up on that a year or two ago because all they can do is send an email to the claim company because it’s a third party situation. Most of the times, I just end up using the website instead of HSABank . But the website is equally bad so I have to switch back and forth and try to pick the lesser of two evils to get the work done. Very upset that I’m always required to DO TWICE THE WORK because of how horrible HSABank and website is.

The old app wasn’t perfect, but at least it mostly worked, and I could do basic things like see my account balance, and log in securely with Face ID, and upload receipts. HSABank doesn’t even show pending transactions (three this month that HSA bank texted me about, and said “log into your account to see the transaction details” just aren’t there - I finally found them buried deep in a menu on a random page that allowed me to use an SSO link to pull up my account history) doesn’t save my login info, and I’m not going to trust anything that pulls up a pop-up in-app browser to upload receipts reliably, and not lose my HIPPA protected data - not to mention how painfully slow the okta links are to load… I have no idea why, in 2022, a BANK would choose to do a scrap-and-replace project like this, rather than continuous improvement of their existing app, but HSABank feels like a irresponsible release… If I could give it zero stars, I would… (This is a petty aside, but it gives a window into the lack of attention to ANY details in HSABank : I don’t know how this even made it past HSA’s marketing team - their logo doesn’t have the appropriate spacing around it, and is just crammed up in the top corner.)

I trusted the previous app to save my receipts from the year, thinking that this functionality would not just randomly be removed. All of those receipts have been deleted and I don’t have back up photos. I guess you were not supposed to use that to save your receipts at all. I am very disappointed and wish there would’ve been some kind of warning for us to download our data out of HSABank before they just got rid of it and told us we weren’t allowed to login anymore. I didn’t think I would need to keep separate back up photos of paper receipts since this is my HSA’s app and it offers this function as a way to record data. Very disappointed that we were not at least told to get our data out of HSABank before the company just completely changed it. Did they not understand that people were going to lose things that were only in HSABank and not on their site?

Just got prompted to download the new version of HSABank . Complete disappointment! Had to do a new login (which is not so surprising nowadays), had to use my email to verify TWICE (other apps either have face id or let me use my phone text which is much easier), and the worse part is that the dependent care account page looks like a website instead of an actual app. How is it that the HSA account looks like a mobile app but you couldn’t do the same for the Dependent Care account!! I can’t see anything, have to zoom in a lot and it’s overall a complete headache. I can’t use HSABank like that, it is not user friendly AT ALL!!! Please delete this new app asap and either create something usable or don’t bother! I won’t be using HSABank at all, deleting it from my phone immediately. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Got a prompt to delete and install this new version of HSABank so I did. This one is little more than a wrapper for the website. Not great, but neither was the actual app version.
HSABank offers Face ID and that’s about it for features the site doesn’t. I would cut your loses and just go right to their site in safari, that’s what I was doing before anyway. The site isn’t great either (clunky, slow, kinda messy imo) but it’s definitely more responsive than either version of HSABank
I have a lot of health problems and insurance stuff is always just an inherit bummer to deal with. But no matter how I access Hsa bank services it will do what I need, sometimes I just have to dig through a lot of menus and spend some time waiting for things to load is all. 2/5 app though and I think that’s being generous

One step forward, three steps back. You took a marginal app that, at the very least, was functional enough to see my account balance and broke that basic functionality. Seriously. Who was the executive who looked at this and said “Perfect! This is EXACTLY what our customers deserve!”?!!!? And why can we not have our credentials saved? Face ID? Seriously, back to the drawing board.
Here’s a suggestion: when you develop an app, you need to test it with your USER BASE not the DEVELOPMENT TEAM.
The developers already know where you buried everything and how to navigate whatever Byzantine menu they’ve created. Open HSABank and hand your phone to your GenX parents. Ask them to find something and LISTEN when they tell you how difficult/confusing/frustrating it is.

I don’t even know where to begin with like if garbage you forced on people, but let’s say I wish I could give you less than the 1 star to review it.
I mean, with your funding being the only HSA bank provider you would think you at the very least could offer customers a user friendly platform. The previous app worked just great but this “upgrade” is an insult to everyone relying on your service.
For one, what is it with logging in constantly? Why even give us an option to select “remember me” if the application doesn’t give a flying $#%* about it and makes you log in constantly anyway? And what happened to Face ID? I mean, the rest of the world is just fine using it for their platforms as were you a hot minute ago? The next thing is, why in the ever-loving-god is it taking a week for dedication and credits to show??? In todays world with todays technology, there is absolutely no excuse for it to take this long! My little hick-town bank that serves more cows than people has a better system than what you concocted here.
I have never been compelled to leave a bad review, but your *hitshow takes the cake!

The old app was not great, that I will admit. I had to jump through hoops to even be able to log into this new app because my login did not transfer over. All of my logged receipts and invoices are gone. There was no notice of this new app launching to enable me to save those invoices and bills. To rehaul an app like this is fine, but to completely discontinue the use of HSABank all together, only to replace it with a different app that took me 3 days to even gain access to, just to have all of my meticulously saved paper trail just disappear without a whisper of a warning, is literally insane to me. Unprofessional, irresponsible, careless. I would give this -12 stars if I could. Hopefully I can find the receipt from 3 months ago that I need to prove my $400 backpay. Thanks guys.

Quite disappointing that the developers forced us to uninstall the old app and install this new one instead, only to see a clunky interface with webpages formatted for actual computers with a big screen rather than a small phone screen. I feel bad for anyone that has trouble reading small text because it’s even hard to tap the right checkboxes which all are way too small to be convenient. Filing requests for reimbursements are a hassle and I have to navigate to the same webpage repeatedly for each transaction rather than a simple “return to the last page”.
I see no advantage to HSABank over their website.
By kaliiyugaa
I don’t understand why the old app had to be replaced with this virtually useless app. It logs you out constantly, it never keeps your information saved or logged in, and it almost always requires email verification! I’m a full time student that works part time and my HSA is linked to my work email, so to even access HSABank it has to be a day that I’m working!!! By that point I can just access it on my work computer.
So what is the actual point in HSABank? What was the point in making us use something even LESS functional? Please fix all these flaws immediately or bring back the old app, the existence of this one completely baffles me
By Zebra2110
The old app had some issues, but was way better than this new app. I am frustrated that there is no option for logging in with Face ID. I am extremely frustrated that there is not an easier way to scan for eligible items; the scan with the camera was much easier to find a product at the store, having to click a link to open a web browser and manual search doesn’t work well and makes it much more slower and frustrating to check eligibility of an item. HSABank needs to be overhauled … big time. Like others have said… it’s like using the web browser and there’s no point of even using HSABank.

My organization moved our benefits into this company and I wish they never did. I downloaded HSABank and I should have known better with this horrible score. This “app” brings you to the web version of the website. But before it even does that, you have to log in, close it and the go log in again before it actually lets yo in. If you try to view messages it won’t open any of the attachments to read what they are trying to tell you (because it’s trying to open up another window which is not supported within this so called “app”.) You need to just use the website, don’t waste your time with this HORRIBLE app. It’s useless.
By tjh217
Usually when a company puts out a new app it’s because the old one couldn’t keep up and they want to release new features. That’s absolutely not the case here. For whatever reason, HSA Bank released a new app with LESS features than the previous one which makes HSABank SIGNIFICANTLY inferior to the one they used to have.
Remember when you could use touch/ Face ID to access your account from HSABank ? GONE. Remember when you could at least use password manager to log in via HSABank ? GONE. How about the ability to modify and easily navigate to your account and its features? GONE. Whoever decided this was HSABank to release and replace the last needs to be fired.
This is a complete train wreck compared to the last one which was glitchy, but at least was useful and easier to navigate and allowed us the ability to use touch/ Face ID to log in.
Shame on you HSA Bank for releasing this. I’d rather log in via a mobile browser than use this terrible, terrible excuse for an app.
By Weather Buff 48
HSABank is terrible. Its basically a web browser, and I have to log in from scratch every time I try to use it, as it doesn’t allow face recognition login from my phone. Even though I chose the option to remember me, it asks for my user name every time, and makes me do the double authentication.
The interface of HSABank is basically a zoomed out web browser. I have never made an app before, but I could have done a far better job. The old app was much better. Would have expected far better from HSA Bank, but if their app is this bad, how is their customer service and management?
By Sleepy travelers
I have HSABank downloaded on the phone. The log in is not streamlined, and takes multiple steps to get user and password entered. Tax forms and information are difficult to find ams access. The minimum requirement to be held in the cash is not clearly listed, not in FAQ. The company I work for has the option to invest with TD or Devenir, for novice investor, the learning curve is steep and difficult to use. There’s no streamline way to access investment portfolios. I have not had any expenses, therefor unable to report on that user experience. If you are an employer, please consider different options for your employees before settling here.
By MrOBrian
HSABank is literally just a web browser that loads their site. I mean, I guess it works, but why even bother? Especially since it’s somehow not bringing up my saved passwords for the site. It’s easier to just save a bookmark in safari and access the info that way. I’m just glad that I’m almost done with this company. We already had to redo our logins because our usernames used to be our last name and part of our SSN, which was a huge security concern, and now we have to switch to a new app that is just pointless. I wonder what’s next.
By ChaselenDaze
This new app is absolutely horrible and added 0 additional value from the original. In fact it actually has made the customers benefit worse, which I never thought possible being an IT professional, but here it is. The customer can just use the website and get the job done faster. Horrible API built into HSABank to log user in and display web based info, totally obvious. You all wasted your money developing this and disabling original app. Im deleting and just using the regular website, its annoying to have to do but frankly faster and better presented. Sorry but Im not sorry.

It’s hard to believe a large company like HSA Bank can not figure out how to make a user friendly app when hundreds of small credit unions across the country are perfectly capable. Moreover, they know their users are part of a captured customer base, as HSA options are usually employer-chosen. So it’s hard not to be cynical and assume that HSA Bank is providing an awful experience in order to keep more workers’ money locked up in their crappy service (presumably so they can use our money to invest in other things and make more money for themselves). I will be doing my best to encourage my employer to change providers.
By FullThrottle2022
The old app was easy to use, put in some info, click to access camera and it would upload a pdf to receipt organizer, select it and done. I see old documents in the receipt organizer but can’t add new ones. Every page is borderline unreadable unless you zoom in. IT IS MY OPINION that HSABank is designed so that you do not ever request reimbursement and HSA gets to keep your money. You can’t even use the take a picture function on iPhones since it stores in an unaccepted format (HEIC instead of JPG GIF or PDF). Regulators should look into this company due to how horrible it is.
By pratsang
I used the previous app frequently to reimburse myself or upload receipt and review transactions. Prior to the recent update, I was also able to sync my account to quicken.
With this update, it looks like they don’t want customers to use their mobile app. This new version is just a wrapper on their desktop website, which is so hard to use. I have seen companies gradually improve their mobile apps, but never seen someone so drastically make it unusable.
Bring back the old app, or just shut down HSABank completely. There’s no use for this version of HSABank .

Easy to navigate between my different benefit products and makes it easy since it’s the same as the web version!

I like the new biometric login option. Overall I like the look and feel.

new version of HSABank much better. thx for listening to the feedback.

Only weeks ago, maybe days, HSABank had about 1500 one star reviews and an overall rating of 1.1. Why have all the reviews, including mine, been deleted? It’s a lousy app and everyone who uses it knows it. Looks like the latest update is gaslighting!
By awfcjinokmcdvu
It is clear you do not test your product at all before releasing it to the public. If i had the option to use a different bank i would but unfortunately you are my company’s chosen HSA provider. Perhaps this captive customer base is why you feel like such a useless app is acceptable in the first place. Please fire your current team of app developers and hire some people with at least a high school level of competence. Whoever wrote HSABank might be cheap, but even if they were free it would be overcharging.
The old app wasn’t perfect but it was at least an app optimized for phones with basic functionality. This abomination is essentially a broken website mirror with most of the features removed. You can see a basic account overview, and you can upload an expense receipt. But it is like using a web browser. Everything is zoomed way out, and the upload feature is a link saying click to browse your computer. When you try to update a provider address you get a window completely out of size you have to scroll around in. At the end of it all I was randomly logged out. There is no option to use fingerprint login so you have to type everything out each time. Overall i’d give this a 0.5/5 and would not recommend anyone waste their time with it.

There have been recent updates to HSABank that have made it much better. Biometrics are functional, HSABank is faster, sleeker, and easy to navigate. It no longer feels like a mobile dashboard that deep links into a desktop site. Much improved.

New updates have been a great improvement and increase the functionality tremendously

Looks like a freshman CS student wrote this as a final in 48 hours. Everything I try to do leads the website being placed in a browser view. That is if it loads. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck a screen with 2 button to either “Go Back” or “Logout”. Was hoping to get my HSA Card into my digital wallet but doesn’t even look like HSABank knows about the HSA Card.

User friendly layout and easy to navigate!

I am able to navigate my HSA now with ease utilizing the HSA Bank app.
By dcb634
HSABank gives you an overview of your account balance and contributions. If you want to look at your expenses or pay someone it turns into a shell of the website with 2 point font and lots of scrolling. It use to be a better app before it was “improved “

Great improvements

Useless app with a bunch of recent shill reviews.
Went from 1 star to 4.5

I'm not a fan of "apps" that utilize a web interface within them. Really HSABank should be a true app. I should not need to punch zoom everything in order to see /view it. This diminishes the user experience greatly and adds frustrations.
There are issues with the login, also. Every time i launch HSABank it just spins and spins at the login screen, as if it's trying to log in & fails, forcing the user to force close HSABank , reopen it & then authenticate. I'm not sure if this is in relationship to it being left open in the background and then being relaunched and having a stale session cookie or what the issue could be.
By DrewChicago
Fonts in the Manage Expenses section are infinitesimally small, and early impossible to read without pinching and zooming every page and interaction. App needs to be optimized for mobile. The user experience is excruciating.
Also, HSABank makes you log in and authenticate with a second factor every time you use it, even if you ask it to “remember you on this device“. So annoying.
By DuB302mzk
This is the most scammy company, stealing people’s medical money as “fees”. If I could choose another company I would, pushing for my company to change next year. Avoid this company if possible!!

the button that says “don’t challenge on this device again” for two step verification doesn’t do anything. it just keeps doing the verification.
