Read 20 Customer Service Reviews 😠💢

4.6 out of 5
Worst App and Program

Customer service is terrible. I’ve talked to five different Acura Link agents to get help enrolling in the Connect tier with no luck. Today during the 5th attempt (and after getting in my car to start my one hour commute after work), I was passed around twice, had to provide my VIN (shouldn’t this app automatically have it from my vehicle?), and then I was hung up on after 30 minutes. I hit the blue this app button again since I had about another 25 minutes before getting home, however I was placed in the queue for the entire time. I never got the opportunity to talk to anyone again. I pulled into my driveway and gave up for the day. I suppose if I was in a wreck and was seriously injured, I probably would have bled out and died by the time my wrecked vehicle indicator was relayed by this app to emergency personnel. I don’t recommend AcuraLink, nor do I recommend getting an Acura, especially if you’re interested in paying for the upmost in safety features that is supposed to be found in these type of apps connected to their vehicles. The service I’ve received is amateur at best. If you want a vehicle with a connected service/safety app, I would recommend a vehicle with On-Star. On-Star is a professional company with outstanding customer service and ease of enrollment. I really wish I would have bought another Cadillac instead of an Acura.

Why can’t it track a moving car in real time?

Last year we bought a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. Prior to this, we hadn’t bought a vehicle since 2016. Needless to say, a lot has changed with cars in the past ten years. Our experience with car apps, like this app, began last year when we bought the Nissan. The Nissan app is vastly superior to the Acura app, basically for one reason; namely the Nissan app allows you to obtain real time tracking of the moving vehicle. My wife and I paid for the Nissan app because of this capability as we value the convenient extra level of safety that is provided by real time, tracking of a moving vehicle. We recently bought a 2024 Acura MDX and after installing the this app app, we discovered that it cannot provide location services while the vehicle is moving. This is the best feature of the Nissan app and obviously it is technically possible but for some reason Acura hasn’t incorporated this into their app. As I recall, the this app is free for some amount of time, that I cannot recall at the moment but that I think might be 3 years, and thereafter you have to pay a monthly fee. I will not pay for AcuraLink unless it includes moving tracking services like the Nissan app. Furthermore, I am willing to pay a small fee for this service if it’s added before the free trial expires.

App needs lots of improvements!

AcuraLink is highly inaccurate. AcuraLink takes forever to open and refresh the connection to the vehicle. The few available commands take even longer to execute even when the vehicle is in my driveway and I am about 20 feet away in my home. When I press the start button it keeps saying refreshing before finally sending the command to the vehicle. Then you don’t know if the vehicle is on or off because the 10 min counter shows up at times and others times it does not. They app does not connect to the vehicle itself ever using the system menu to connect to Acura link. I have a 2023 Integra with Aspec and Tech Package, there are far more advanced vehicles on the market for a lower price. AcuraLink needs to be redeveloped from scratch using another developer. The UI needs to be simplified and more accessible with all the information displayed on one screen. Come on Acura, you can do way better if you really consider yourself to be a Luxury brand.

What team of executives saw this app and thought we should charge for that?

Unless the team at the top is looking at a different app and is getting a different level of customer service, they should be embarrassed. Why put so much care into designing a vehicle and have not only the upgrade to a technology package that fall flat, but the basics not be there in the first place. I’d be happier if the sales person said to me, “ Would you like to pay for our app that sometimes can unlock or lock your doors?” “It can also honk the horn or tell you the tire pressure when it works if the upgrade hasn’t rendered it useless!” “Customer service for AcuraLink is extremely convenient by hitting the service button in your car and having them ask you to take down a number while you’re driving to open a ticket with someone else that closes that ticket without fixing anything!” “And for all that we’ll only charge you an additional $300 a year.” “Oh, so you know, even if it doesn’t work, we’re not going to give you your money back!”

Upsetting App

AcuraLink is great when it works. But the amount of times my car has not unlocked via key fob in the morning has led me to leave this review. At LEAST 10 times now after activating the remote start, I have been unable to unlock my car with the key fob upon trying to enter. I have to use the physical door key which in turn makes the car turn off. It is so frustrating!! While the yearly subscription fee isn’t outrageous, I expect an app that I pay a subscription for to work. I almost wanna switch to Audi or BMW… even the tech inside the Acura (I know it has nothing to do with AcuraLink) is finicky and fails. The Apple Car Play is an absolute joke. Half the time it just doesn’t even work. Buttons lag, buttons won’t work. I love Acura and am currently on my 2nd TLX, but the constant issues make me want to switch over to another brand. I hope these issues are fixed.

Ridiculous… Nothing but problems with my 2023 MDX

It’s sad that you shop and spend good money on a “luxury” car yet something as simple as the application not working. I take that back it did work for the first week just fine but then my car disappeared from AcuraLink and I’ve been spending over two weeks and literally over 5 hours on the phone trying to get this fixed. Customer service is of no help because they have to wait for the “tech team” to do anything. Also the customer service with this app is closed on the weekends. It’s hard to troubleshoot while I’m at work during the week. I can’t even bring my car to the dealership cuz they can’t do anything. My case manager Stacy seems to think that it’s not a big deal and that I’m an annoyance because I’ve been calling every day to try and get a feature that’s sold with my car to work. 2023 MDX’s are given THREE years of this so it’s not like a trail. I thought this would be taken care in maybe a couple of days but we’ve tried everything and I’m still waiting on the “Tech Team” to somehow fix the problem with adding my VIN. Let’s see how long this really takes.

Sometimes it works

In the beginning when I download AcuraLink, it worked like it was supposed to. Now not so much. When I start up my car using the remote start for my RDX. It starts at the car, but won’t allow me to open the car even when my keys are in my hand so I have to turn the remote start off then I’m allowed to open the doorwith my keys in hand. It does that every time I use the remote start function for my 2023 A-SPEC RDX and my 2024 TLX. Plus every time I exit out of my car and the car is still running. AcuraLink automatically opens on my iPhone while I’m DoorDash or doing any other function other than trying to check AcuraLink out. It has become very annoying to the point where I would rather delete AcuraLink than to have it constantly opening when I’m in or outside of my car. The only reason I got AcuraLink is because my RDX doesn’t have remote start, but my TLX does have remote start. And I do have the most recent version of AcuraLink and I feel like the Update just made it worse. The other feature on AcuraLink such as schedule maintenance does not work on and tried several times. when is time for oil change is supposed to show an app that is time for oil change and it does not.

Not reliable

AcuraLink is just not accurate or reliable. It shows locked when it’s unlocked and unlocked when it’s locked. I’ve even just got out of the car and walked 100 feet, AcuraLink says doors locked but I didn’t lock them, walked back to the car checked the doors and they’re unlocked, walked away and used AcuraLink to lock them, AcuraLink shows the check mark, but then AcuraLink shows unlocked even after it confirmed my lock command was successful. Another common problem is remote start from AcuraLink . I’ve tried to start it from AcuraLink and I get a message that I exceeded the number of start requests, and this is the first request. This has happened several times. On another note why does Acura limit the amount of remote starts in the first place!? I’ve landed at the airport in the dead of winter, started the car prior to getting off the plane, it runs for 10 min, I extend it, but it takes me more time than anticipated to get to the car so it shuts off, I try to start it again and I get the message that I exceeded the amount of remote starts, when I get to the car it’s cold. Why, I should be able to remote start my car as many times as I need to and I don’t need Acura to tell me how many times is appropriate.

Perplexed on the Value

I own a 22 RDX A-Spec Tech. Keep in mind I have remote start using my FOB. I had one a one year trial using AcuraLink . I honestly did not see the value for the premium price for the services offered. The only feature that I did pay for was the security feature. I like being able to send a destination via AcuraLink when needed. The ability to track the car is fine as well although again the price point is absurd. The concierge service, I would never use, why pay for that when other free means are available? The customer service to me is bargain basement quality. As much as Acura or whatever outsourced company needs to improve their customer interactions. Currently I once again have a trial for a couple of months and I am still finding it hard to justify it. Other companies even mainstream and other “premium/luxury” brands offer app services for free and or at a realistic price point. I do suggest that Acura offers a digital key through AcuraLink . That would be ideal.

If I didn’t know any better, I might be impressed

Acura (or Honda for that matter) needs to do much better with AcuraLink. From the UI to the actual functionally, it needs to be improved. As other have mentioned, other car manufacturers that are known as luxury cars have way more functionality and features. Acura is only fooling folks who simply don’t know what the other manufacturers are offering in terms of apps and functionality. In other words., anyone who actually rated AcuraLink 5 stars just doesn’t know any better. Manufacturers are becoming greedy and nickel and diming on these features. I assume if they add new features, we’ll have to pay to add them to our service like ala cart menu…just greedy, trying to squeeze every penny they can out of you.

Please add(but don’t charge more):
-Ability to open and close windows and roof.
-Ability to use your phone as an actual working key. Why wouldn’t you have this?
-Ability to set the interior temperature or at least a few preset options. Now, there’s no rhyme or reason. When you remote start, sometimes the climate control is on and other times it’s not. At least let us know what those parameters are.
-Apple Watch functionality
-Lock screen widget. Seems obvious on that.

Also, the cost is silly. These are features that should be included, or at least baked into the cost of the car up front one time. Not a yearly subscription for a subpar app.

A lot to be desired

My car was stolen just before Christmas. AcuraLink couldn’t stop the car and couldn’t locate the car. The geniuses at Acura thought it was a good idea for the vehicle owner not to be able to stop his stolen car from moving and won’t let him locate his car while the car is on. Then the stolen car feature only works once you give them the police report (it only took the NYPD 6 hours to show up). And Acura told me they would only let the NYPD know where the vehicle is. AcuraLink located the car for me after the thieves had trashed it and crashed it… I gave the stupid app 2 stars because of the remote start feature. I’m not buying Acura again even if they understand that the car owner has the right to locate his car and stop his car using AcuraLink he actually paid for.

Driver feedback stopped working after 2 months

I like AcuraLink and would give it 5 stars if all features were working. I have a 2022 Acura MDX with technology package. I can see my tire pressure, oil life, gas tank status, and all remote features work. But, no driver feedback-odometer not showing, nor range. Trips are not being tracked. Any suggestions? I have deleted and reloaded AcuraLink . I have deleted and reloaded the vehicle, I have even rebooted the car. Nothing works to fix the problem. It is now more than a year since AcuraLink stopped working. No odometer reading. Interesting the range left on the car just came back. But, the car still does not log trips-when it worked I really loved it. I have filed numerous tickets through customer service. Useless. They can’t fix it. The developer needs to fix it.

It’s Good Could be Better

AcuraLink works perfectly about 75% of the time but the other 25% will give you a headache. 15% of that can be best described as when it does not send the command to the car and errors out but still counts towards the maximum startup of 2 times. The other 10% is starting the engine and once you get to your car it won’t unlock for any reason until either the time laps resulting in AcuraLink disconnecting OR if you go back into AcuraLink and select to turn off vehicle (which you still have to wait for the command to send to the car if it doesn’t error out).
I’ve had this issue on going since I got the car and had them check the key system and more they said it wasn’t the car so it had to be an app glitch and would be fixed soon…
That was over 6 months ago. I would just like an app to function properly for the features I’m paying for.

It’s sufficient

I have no major complaints as I’m coming from using the UConnect app with a Jeep.

I love that you can see the fuel level, interior temp (auto start will turn on heated or vented seats & air depending on outside temp), as well as oil life.

You can schedule maintenance and things of that nature as well.

My only complaint is that auto start features/lock and unlock are kinda slow. For my jeep as soon as face recognition took place for my password, the vehicle started in less than 3 seconds. With Acura link it’s realistically probably 5 but I swear it feels like 30 seconds. To some that may not be an issue, but considering how quick remote start is, I’m beginning to debate whether or not to buy the option from the dealership! (I likely won’t lol, just flustered).

All in all, decent app.

OH! Almost forgot, if you buy a used Acura and attempt to set up this app and get the error message when it’s time to choose the level (remote/concierge), it’s likely because the old owner is still under your vehicles’ VIN. You’ll have to call this app, they’ll send you a link to attach proof of new ownership (bill of sale), you’ll then have to wait a few hours for the system to clear the old owner, and reattempt the sign up. If purchasing from an Acura dealership they may clear everything before selling, but CarMax didn’t for my RDX.

Great App with minor issues

Hi friends, first of all AcuraLink itself looks and works great as per what a driver would basically need. I have a couple of things to highlight. * The refresh actually doesn’t seem to work sometimes and takes 30 seconds are more before it returns the status of car * the gas range seems to be inaccurate as per what I noticed. It is stuck with a value 3 days ago. Probably might be a sw bug. * it would be nice to have window control built in. * keyless entry when locked will be an amazing feature for people who would want to leave keys inside the car while going to places where keys might be exposed to water or bad weather. But
the UI itself looks cool or in par with many apps.

New issue:
* I get an error saying that “car is out of coverage area” it used to work earlier and has suddenly stopped working. Please address this issue.

Core functions good, garage control expensive

I’ve been using AcuraLink for the last year. I’ve also use AcuraLink with the myQ control for the garage while it does work and it’s nice to have on screen in the car. It is certainly not worth anywhere near the subscription required to open your own garage door 180 hours for a five year subscription is really just a bad way to go. How confident are you that you’ll have this exact same car in five years? If you’re not confident, don’t subscribe, you can also use the myQ app from the garage door manufacturer, for free, and skip the expense with the this app app or you can use the garage door opener control that came with your garage door again for free, or if your car has the embedded garage opener in the mirror for free. I really fail to see the value in subscribing to the garage door functionality from Acura. Seriously? This should be part of the premium subscription that comes that you can subscribe to from with in AcuraLink to do things like remote start, etc. this is where the garage door app should live. It should not be a separate subscription. This is just crazy.

Nice app!

I just got my 2022 MDX with Advance Package. I know this new app is a work in progress base on customer feedback. Here are my wishlist: - vent option to partially open the window - cabin temperature display - ability to close all window if left open - ability to view and record camera activity - ability to turn on hazard lights - record or hear cabin conversation remotey from AcuraLink . I know the other Acura app have other controls but why not integrate the features into just one app instead of two different app. I think with all these feature it will be worth it to pay or renew the subscription.

Update: mileage doesn’t seem to update or lag. Gas tank is full but mileage remains low. Trip logs doesn’t update. Need more feature for AcuraLink to be useful.

Works okay…

Acura claims “precision crafted performance”….

While I love my 2021 TLX, AcuraLink needs some work!…and to charge me after the trial ends is a joke, ACURA! I just spent $48K for this car. It should be included for life IMO.

First off, once you use AcuraLink to remote start your car, you can no longer use AcuraLink to turn on the lights or unlock the car…you should be able to use AcuraLink as a key as well so you can ditch the fob!

Also, can you add the ability to roll down and up the windows?

To me, the running lights on the car should also illuminate to show the car is started.

Also, can you make AcuraLink so you can pick/adjust the climate control? As it is, when you use AcuraLink to start the car, the climate control and seats will turn on, however the display for the climate control is not on?? It has a mind of its own in which I haven’t figured out yet.

Also, I get no vehicle health like it shows for the RDX, the TLX is similar, so why it doesn’t work is weird.

One last thing, in AcuraLink I should be able to pre program navigation destinations so I can have them ready when I get in the car. No such option.

App is just horrible

AcuraLink is the worst thing I’ve ever tried using. I’m paying for these subscriptions and can’t even use the functions. When you call for help all they want you to do is a factory data reset and then you have to set up everything in the vehicle again. Had a 2019 RDX and AcuraLink worked for that vehicle but now I have a 2022 RDX and AcuraLink won’t work at all. Status update is always from a couple days ago, lock/unlock or remote start commands come back with make sure car is in a good coverage area. Who ever made AcuraLink needs to fix all the bugs soon. Will be calling to get a refund of my money as I’m tired of paying for something that doesn’t work.

Who ever wrote the last update needs to be fired.

Ever since the last update I have had nothing but problems with AcuraLink . Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and each time it gets worse. The latest issue is the account needs to be activated….did that three times…gave up on that. Then it tells me that remote functions will be available after my next drive. That was 5 drives ago. Gave up after an hour of being on hold trying to talk to someone. And the dealership just said it’s not their problem. Who’s problem is it then to fix this major problem?
