Customer service is terrible. I’ve talked to five different Acura Link agents to get help enrolling in the Connect tier with no luck. Today during the 5th attempt (and after getting in my car to start my one hour commute after work), I was passed around twice, had to provide my VIN (shouldn’t AcuraLink automatically have it from my vehicle?), and then I was hung up on after 30 minutes. I hit the blue AcuraLink button again since I had about another 25 minutes before getting home, however I was placed in the queue for the entire time. I never got the opportunity to talk to anyone again. I pulled into my driveway and gave up for the day. I suppose if I was in a wreck and was seriously injured, I probably would have bled out and died by the time my wrecked vehicle indicator was relayed by AcuraLink to emergency personnel. I don’t recommend this app, nor do I recommend getting an Acura, especially if you’re interested in paying for the upmost in safety features that is supposed to be found in these type of apps connected to their vehicles. The service I’ve received is amateur at best. If you want a vehicle with a connected service/safety app, I would recommend a vehicle with On-Star. On-Star is a professional company with outstanding customer service and ease of enrollment. I really wish I would have bought another Cadillac instead of an Acura.

Last year we bought a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. Prior to this, we hadn’t bought a vehicle since 2016. Needless to say, a lot has changed with cars in the past ten years. Our experience with car apps, like AcuraLink, began last year when we bought the Nissan. The Nissan app is vastly superior to the Acura app, basically for one reason; namely the Nissan app allows you to obtain real time tracking of the moving vehicle. My wife and I paid for the Nissan app because of this capability as we value the convenient extra level of safety that is provided by real time, tracking of a moving vehicle. We recently bought a 2024 Acura MDX and after installing the AcuraLink app, we discovered that it cannot provide location services while the vehicle is moving. This is the best feature of the Nissan app and obviously it is technically possible but for some reason Acura hasn’t incorporated this into their app. As I recall, the AcuraLink is free for some amount of time, that I cannot recall at the moment but that I think might be 3 years, and thereafter you have to pay a monthly fee. I will not pay for this app unless it includes moving tracking services like the Nissan app. Furthermore, I am willing to pay a small fee for this service if it’s added before the free trial expires.

The app is just not accurate or reliable. It shows locked when it’s unlocked and unlocked when it’s locked. I’ve even just got out of the car and walked 100 feet, the app says doors locked but I didn’t lock them, walked back to the car checked the doors and they’re unlocked, walked away and used the app to lock them, the app shows the check mark, but then the app shows unlocked even after it confirmed my lock command was successful. Another common problem is remote start from the app. I’ve tried to start it from the app and I get a message that I exceeded the number of start requests, and this is the first request. This has happened several times. On another note why does Acura limit the amount of remote starts in the first place!? I’ve landed at the airport in the dead of winter, started the car prior to getting off the plane, it runs for 10 min, I extend it, but it takes me more time than anticipated to get to the car so it shuts off, I try to start it again and I get the message that I exceeded the amount of remote starts, when I get to the car it’s cold. Why, I should be able to remote start my car as many times as I need to and I don’t need Acura to tell me how many times is appropriate.
