Takealot - Mobile Shopping App Reviews

I’m not here to review Takealot as much as this app service. Takealot works fine and is easy to use and keeps track of orders and returns. So much for Takealot . It is in service delivery where this app is top in the market of online shopping. I started slowly, not being one to trust easily, and have now come to the point where I am reluctant to use anyone else. This kind of trust was earned by this company’s excellent business model and prompt and reliable service. I sincerely hope that they will never slack off as has happened to many previously successful businesses in SA, but keep on improving in little ways.

Online shopping I would give a 5 stars. So far it’s been an amazing experience with this app. Unfortunately only once the delivery man from this app was extremely agressive. He didn’t called me in advance to inform the time he is coming. So he did canceled delivery . But this app fixed the issues and eventually delivered my orders.

I have placed many orders with this app and 80 percent of them end up as expected. However these other 20 percent left have costed me 280 Rands so far that I don’t know what to do to have it back. Long story short, I bought two packs of two of spoon rester but only got one pack of two, when I contacted this app they asked me pictures of my order ( it’s was a lot of other items too), however at that time I had already sent the order to a different location so I could not make a picture, now I don’t know how I can have either my money back or the other pack of the spoon rester. In addition I have received in the past many order that were not mine however I have always returned them.

I use Takealot for ordering and keeping track of my related account activity. Well organized and easy to use. My one major qualm: images take far too long to load. Sometimes they don’t load at all, even if I quit/restart Takealot . My internet speed is adequate (30+mbps). Frustr Also, the search function is not reliable. Even when applying filters, the search reveals items that have nothing to do with the type of product being searched. Yet, if I search via Google, the item appears linking to a this app web page. Frustrating!

Excellent range of products. Unfortunately, have a few items on my wish list which have been out of stock for weeks.
Delivery is always excellent and good follow up if an issue with quality.
Only irritation is when I order and pay for an item and then days later, get a message to say- now out of stock. Has happened at least 3 times. Giving me credit is not really the way to go- you are basically keeping my cash and forcing me to buy from you again. You should reverse the credit card payment.

Ordered from them and paid on the 25 of May 2020. Order was due for delivery on the 9th of June. On the 8th of June (after noticing my order had not shipped) I sent them an email and was told the order was missing an item and that they’d cancel the 1 item and deliver my order on the 18th of June. They had to cancel my item because it is against their policy to do split orders. I agreed to the cancellation and got refunded for the one item and indeed my order got delivered on the 18th of June...

Except that it was an incomplete order. Missing an item which they had not canceled or reimbursed me for. When I asked the driver where my item was, he said it’d be delivered the next day. It wasn’t. I contacted this app and they told me they had split the order. Something they had said was against policy when I suggested it.

It turns out policy is only relevant when it suits them. I’m still waiting for my one item - almost a month later.

Last order with them, will use other online services.

this app has always been a consumers dream. The only issue I have with this app’s app is the search functionality. I find that many times I’m searching for something, I can’t find that item on this app but as soon as I Google search the item it links me to a this app page of the product that I had searched for earlier. This happens with many products. It’s for this reason I hope this app can work with there indexing and database teams to get this resolved.

I was very impressed with the service and the quality of products I bought from the big bird branch Midrand.
Hope to receive the same quality service and products in Cape Town relocated back to Cape Town so in need of new items here. Thanks guys you make life so easy

I give Takelot 5 stars for service and especially for their return policy.
Their app is pretty good, the e-commerce art is seamless and easy to use but the search function does not work very well at all and returns irrelevant and unrelated items. I use the Google to search for items on Takelot and then open the link in Takealot .

User friendly! Easy adding items to Wishlist and Basket. Love the added “similar” and “other user”. The popup adds are helpful in getting new ideas. Love that there is a notification on the exact day the package arrives.

Do you like random pop up ads? Especially ones that occasionally don’t have the close button?

Not only is Takealot serving pop up ads but they’re also broken.

this app makes way too much money to justify such terrible design. Is any testing done or do they just let “the IT guy” push whatever he wants?

I wrote this app 3 weeks ago and besides for their automatic response basically saying solve your own issues through the help page (which isn’t helpful) I have had no response. Nothing. Three weeks and nothing. Pathetic.

Goods to be returned , no problems.
Always ready to help if you have a problem.
Everything I bought from them I never had any problems .

I enjoy shopping on this app, quick and easy to use and no problems with returns or exchanges. Delivery is great. One thing I would improve is add a service where you notify customers if something on their wish list is out of stock.

I recently tried to purchase a tv from this app. It requested that I verify my tv license and I entered all valid information and it said my account was in arrears. Even after making two payments for the tv license the site kept giving an error message stating the account was in arrears. I contacted customer service who pretty much told me there was nothing they could do coz that’s how their system works. Just lost a customer!

I bought a vacuum cleaner on this app. It has a 2 year warranty, this app have been completely incompetent in providing the required service never mind that they said they can’t call me and I said email me then, they can’t get the product fixed because they can’t get hold of me via phone but I’ve had 6 different people email me, saying the same thing. I will never use this app again.

Great service! Had to return an expensive laptop and the process was very easy and smooth! Very satisfied with the service and delivery.

I ordered a fan and waited 2 weeks for it. 5 days before the delivery date this app cancelled my order because the supplier did not have stock and refunded the money as credit on this app. I have to go through a process to get it back as money in my bank account.
I regret using this app, I will now just go to the shops to get my fan same day with no delivery fee.

I love that take-a-lot is dependable and quick to purchase and receive. I think the website could use some work. It is a bit cluttered to navigate and all the prompts don’t work. If they fixed this aspect I would definitely be using it more.

Overall it’s good, however the search does need work. Sometimes difficult to find what you need. I tend to use google and get redirected to Takealot . Also a dark mode option is really needed.

Will be helpful to a easier way to update delivery details in case you need edit change the date after you reach the payment page.

For the last few months the COD payment option is not able to be selected. I don’t like to use my card due to previous online hacking and COD was my preferred payment option which is now unavailable. I have consequently not bought items from this app that I am used to buying on a regular basis.
