3/5 stars - Above Average, Good but not Great.

I’d give it 3.5 stars if it were possible but lacking some content. Upgrading Gyft and fixing it up with a wardrobe change, makeover, whatevs.....just a few things need adjusting to make Gyft a great one including more merchants, especially the big names. There is a plethora of quality stores and restaurants out there that are not on the list or in the search engine and you would expect them to be, so it’s frustrating when they don’t appear after you already have the GC. I lose them all the time or they get stolen/lost so Gyft is awesome and needed. It still has so some much potential it just doesn’t know it yet.
They need to step their game up before someone makes an app that blows this one away! Bottom line is...it’s 2020, if it’s not Great, it will get replaced!!

Sliding downhill

I went to add a gift card to my wallet, but I could not. The interesting thing is I added a similar gift card back in February. It was for Bed, Bath & Beyond. After a lengthy conversation with customer service, a case was created when the rep finally understood what I was saying. The response I received ? Instructions on HOW TO ADD A GIFT CARD! I wrote back that I didn’t need instructions. The issue was that I wasn’t able to add my BB&B gc. I then received a response (from the same rep) that I had “reached the maximum number of attempts to upload & balance check a gift card”. Really? I never got the chance! I wrote again asking if anyone there actually could read & comprehend what the issue was about? I then received a response that unless Gyft can verify the balance on the gift card, I won’t be able to upload. I asked about the one I already had , but they ignored. For me Gyft is useless if you can’t upload ALL your gift cards. What makes it worse is that there was no notification or anything. Not only that, customer service is clueless.

DO NOT GET THIS APP

i downloaded Gyft and was so excited to not have to carry around all my gift cards. i immediately entered all my gift cards that i could. some businesses didn't come up. things began getting fishy when Gyft made me log in every time i entered it, but i figured it was just a security thing. i tried entering a new gift card a few hours after i got Gyft and it kept saying "validation error" even though the codes were correct and i had checked the balance on the website so i knew the card was fine. i decided to read the reviews and was appalled. i attempted to download the cards to apple wallet so i could delete Gyft so nothing happened, but i kept receiving the message "this app not available". i immediately grabbed all my gift cards from the trash can just in case. when i went in Gyft again, it wouldn't let me log in. i tried to reset my password, but i once again got a "this app not available" message. i hope that nobody else makes the mistake of downloading Gyft. it's a scam and if the physical gift cards don't work in stores, i will be extremely angry.

Scam Artists

What a bunch of THEIVES!! So I attempt to pay with my Apple Cash Balance with ApplePay and a screen pops up saying that my gift card wouldn’t be provided instantly and if I wish to proceed... to which I tapped cancel purchase as I did not want to wait and would go to the store instead. And what do these people do they DEBIT MY APPLE PAY CASH BALANCE, where the transaction says approved and gives the transaction number and I receive an email saying my payment was declined?! I’m still waiting for a refund. Let me add that in Target app I canceled a gift card twenty minutes after purchase and my balance was refunded immediately because they didn’t actually complete the transaction like these LIARS. What a waste of my time and patience. Ugh how are these hacks in business? Oh yeah they hold on to our funds and claim a refund takes 7 days after your transaction doesn’t go through and make a killing of the interest they make from a bunch of dummies like us... awesome. This company should be ashamed of itself. What a hack

Sooooo BAD

If there is one thing Gyft does, its not work. Seriously nothing on it works reliably or how it should. this app is literally false advertising, this is a crime in most US states. Gyft does not do what it claims it can do. They also have some of the world's worst customer service. You CAN NOT mess around with peoples money, their personal information, their trust and not be able to resolve issues if contacted... Not because these issues are insane bugs or 1 in a million type issues. We're talking about something as simple as "what happened to my gift card that I had on Gyft yesterday? It straight up disappeared while I was in the store trying to check out" and the response from Tech support "I'm not sure, have you tried restarting Gyft ?... Oh you have? Well the ONLY IDEA we have is to wait 24hrs too see if that works" ... ARE YOU JOKING?! This is a joke... Apple I'm mainly disappointed in you for backing Gyft on top of allowing it to be on Gyft Store.

Works okay

I am dropping my review from 4 stars to 3 because recently Gyft has become harder and harder to use. It frequently has errors and bumps me out. It still includes Apple Pay as an option when it actually isn’t. I found this out after typing in a long, thought out message only to have it disappear because I tried to pay with Apple Pay.

My CONTINUED wish list

I wish Gyft would connect to my contacts so I don’t have to type them in

I wish the “sent status” would include the NAME of the recipient, not just the delivery method

I wish there was a reminder option for birthdays, anniversaries, etc that not only reminded you to send something, but showed what you sent that person in the past.

Disappointed already after first use

I’ve had Gyft downloaded for awhile and just finally decided to give it a try since I found a few unused gift cards I had. However, I wasn’t even able to add the first gift card. Gyft kept telling me it was unable to add my gift card, and to check the numbers to make sure they’re correct. I double checked, re-added them, and still it does not work. I know everything I entered was correct, because I just used the same numbers on the actual store’s website to check the card balance. As far as first impressions with apps go, this was a bad one. I went to check Gyft ’s reviews to see if other people were having the same problem. Sure enough, I see many bad reviews for Gyft. Don’t see a point in keeping it if I can’t even add in the few gift cards that I have.

Unusable garbage

I was given a gift card from a local restaurant to make up for a bad experience. They sent it via this app so I had to sign up for Gyft . I tried registering via email on their website. Apparently my password didn’t meet their requirements so I tried again with a different password and got a message “you’re not allowed to register”. OK, awesome. Super helpful. Tried a couple more times, still unsuccessfully. Next I downloaded the iOS app and tried again. This time got a message “looks like you already have an account”. OK, nice that the website didn’t tell me this. Also, odd that they… went ahead and created an account with a password that didn’t meet their requirements? Hmm. OK so I tried “forgot password”. Got a message saying the password had been sent. Of course I didn’t receive anything (checked spam, nothing there either). Just an all around garbage experience. Do better.

Garbage App

I can’t even sign up on the main menu, because if I try signing up through my facebook (in which it takes you to Gyft or website, a different screen) and go back to Gyft to confirm the Facebook login, the this app app goes BACK TO THE MAIN MENU AND AWAY FROM THE SIGNUP PAGE. On top of that, once I finally do get logged in and signed up through a series of ridiculous actions to avoid Gyft restarting, it gets stuck on a “loading” screen with the waiting symbol, and I cannot do anything until it is finished. If I try going to another app and coming back, Gyft restarts and I have to go through the whole process again. One time, when I tried registering, I sat for thirty minutes or so as the loading symbol spun around and around.

Long story short, it is impossible to register and if you do get to, it takes forever to get into Gyft . Not worth it, and it is a garbage and useless app.

Horrible App! Stay Away!!

I have to change my earlier review. First of all, gift cards are like money. All money related businesses have 24/7 tech support or at least 8-5 even on weekends. Most people use gift cards on the weekend. I got a new phone. Forgot my password and Much to no avail could I get it restored. Gyft new my old email and phone number after even trying to set up a new account, to see if it would. If someone puts their gift cards on here and had to switch phones and threw the cards away, they’d be in trouble. That makes Gyft a waste of space on my phone. If you aren’t going to be serious in this space please shut Gyft down and leave Gyft Store. I wish Apple would set their wallet up so we can add them without downloading a stupid app 😡. After all these years, Touch ID, facial recognition, and they still can help with basic simple Day to Day tasks.

Crooks they are!

I would have recommended Gyft a year ago- I used it for several gift cards and it worked like a dream. Then I purchased one for someone who could never get it to work after numerous attempts and she isn’t a dummy! I contacted this app customer service numerous times and I got the same form letter response verbally and via email. I emailed them 4 different occasions. They never offered to talk with my friend to work out the kinks and didn’t respond to my request for a refund. I don’t like to be ugly- I don’t- but I even suggested that I would be leaving negative review and contacting BBB (which I did) and still- no response. That being said- I DO NOT recommend you take your chances on this one. They don’t need a “bug fix” they need a complete overhaul of their business model or better yet, to shut down immediately!

Customer Service not responsive

I have spent a lot of money on Gyft sending gift cards to my employees for anniversary’s, birthdays etc. I have just recently found that many of them are being marked as used when the person has not actually applied them to their account, just simply opening the email shows it as completed. I also had an issue with sending a card to one of our vanity emails (such as “info@“) and because another employee had already claimed that email as their email for this app, they gave it to her even though she has not been with the company for several years, and no longer uses the email I sent it to. They were contacted right away with the error and are not responding in fixing it. They seem to not understand what the problem is.

Does not work well with 2-factor

For some reason Gyft is not capable of staying open in the background. I try to log in using my Google account but because I have 2-Factor Authentication, I have to verify i am logging in by switching to the Gmail app. In doing them, it essentially closes the this app app because when I return to Gyft , I am brought back to the initial sign-in/sign-up page. If I try to log in again, I have to do the same 2-Factor and in verifying, the this app app goes back to the same initial page. (I guess I could do the Text 2-Factor or use Authenticator but this closing of this app when switching to another app shows a big flaw with the this app app)

Also, and it is trivial, but having been updated in August 2018, it’s surprising that the UI wasn’t updated to support the iPhone X.

Great idea but flawed design.

Every single time I open Gyft I am asked to login. Again. It also doesn’t let me add the gift cards to my Apple a Wallet because of an error validating the card. I also wish it could tell you the balance of your cards, because I had to go individually to company websites and type in the gift card number AGAIN to find out the balance then add it manually. I think this app is good for keeping track of what gift cards you have but not for actually using them. It would also be neat if you could enable Apple Pay with the gift cards you have so that you can use your phone to pay with gift cards. I’ll restate the title of my review: great idea, but a flawed design.

Update Needed

You should be able to upload any type of gift card including generic American Express, Visa and MasterCard. Most of the cards i tried to upload weren’t available and you’re only able to choose from their preselected list. Would also be more convenient to allow camera access to scan gift card info rather than having to type it in manually. Lastly, very surprised and disappointed that once card info is uploaded it can’t track available balance. Again you have to manually enter gift card amount and then update the balance every time you use it. Honestly easier to keep and use the plastic than hassle with Gyft. A lot of room for improvement!!!

Works sometimes, frustrating

The concept is great but it seems as though the developers do not care about improving on Gyft or fixing the issues that customers have.
The biggest issue is having to log in EVERY time you want to open Gyft . If you switch to another app and come right back, you have to log in again. No support for fingerprint or Face ID.
When you try to have Gyft refresh the balance, it only shows a triangle with a “!”. What is the point of this feature if it does not work? Also, when you manually update the balance, instead of adding the date you updated the card, it will only show when the original balance was added.

A, now disappointed, long time user

I have used Gyft for years to store my gift cards and create digital barcodes for them. While some gift cards cannot be added to Gyft , with customer support offering no assistance, I feel like Gyft was okay until the recent update. Now, every time you open Gyft , you have to log in. And no, there is no Touch ID available. So when you are standing in line at a store or restaurant and want to quickly pull up that gift card you have, you need to enter your email and password. THIS HAS RUINED Gyft . I can’t believe the developers are so clueless as to what the users want. I will find another app to use - as I cannot log in every time I want to spend my money.

Chance

I am rating this company a 5 star to give them a chance after they come back to market Gyft, because it’s an amazing app and was just in the wrong hands. I have already gone through the “fishy” log in errors. Two error e-mail logons. Mysterious window for continuing login on connecting with email. I will write back 2 weeks from now to hopefully give this team their play store REP they deserve if their platform was taken over buy other identity’s. & not that their stupid.

Please fix this app.

I used this app for a little over a year as I was gifted a large sum of gift card money to spend. Probably would not use again because of how glitchy and confusing Gyft can be. I absolutely hated how the gift card balances did not update automatically because it made it very confusing. The log in process every time was a pain. And sometimes I wouldn’t be able to archive cards because Gyft would glitch and wouldn’t let me press the button. Would consider using this app again if these issues were fixed, but for now I’ll stick to real gift cards.

Sign-in inconvenience

Gyft allows me to upload my gift cards as expected, but I find it tedious to have to enter my login credentials every time I open Gyft . I understand this is for security reasons, but at least add an option for being able to sign in with the thumbprint scanner as you are able to with mobile banking apps. In addition, Gyft shows me the tutorial slideshow every time I open Gyft as well.
