It is an App to check just account balances

Nothing worked fine in HDFCBank other than to know my account balance and I was stuck in every transaction I tried . I didn’t get any text messages after I started using HDFCBank including the credits to my account. But I got text messages for all the transactions that I did in netbanking using my Laptop. I didn’t get any texts which also implies I didn’t get OTPs, Thus I have reach out to my laptop wherever an OTP is needed, which is any transaction other than checking balances I had to use my laptop. I really don’t understand why all of sudden you have make us use a new app and we just have to be stuck with it ??

Unable to login in

Totally useless app. For last few days unable to login to iOS app for HDFC bank. Keep getting error message network is low. How do? Using 5G as well as high speed internet access. No errors or issue login to any of my other financing apps. Only HDFC has error messages. Also tried login to your dumb website which has all pop ups but server failed in NetBanking. Same thing going on for last few days. Tried to call 800# ( USA based for nri banking) phone disconnects after few seconds of IVR recording. Poor service, support and app/ online development.
Btw, I deleted HDFCBank and reinstalled it. Same error messages. Grow up guys!

App shows Device is Jail Broken

I have been using HDFCBank for so many years now on my iPhone. Currently I am using iPhone XS with iOS 13.6.1. But ever since I have upgraded to iOS 13, I am getting following error - “Fatal error. For your own safety we don’t allow JailBroken devices to use this application”. REALLY????
For the matter of fact, I have never jail broken this device and I never will. This is my primary device. Why would I play with this $1000 device. I don’t have cider or any other app installed on my device. I did contact to Apple support and here is their response “ But there is no issue with the phone if you are able to open HDFCBank , delete, and redownload HDFCBank is giving you the error. Apple does not own HDFCBank therefore Apple can’t troubleshoot it’s in-app issues.”

Pathetic app and pathetic developers

Never seen such a piece of crap. The phone freezes, touch id never ever works. Looks like this bank is even worse then any public sector bank in terms of technology and technical staff.

The overall experience of HDFCBank is also a disgrace on the name of an app. A novice or any college student can develop a better app then this junk.

The HDFC should pull up their socks and should hire some real techies and UX developers.

I think they should learn from Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase or similar banks who even themselves have develop their own frameworks while these guys are just not even able to develop and maintain a simple app.

A total flop and a piece of crap it is... Not sure why even after seeing their rating as 1.8 they don't work to improve it. Looks like the are busy in giving loans to the king of good times and diamond kings who will later ran away and hide in Austria, Germany, London and similar places.

Piece of garbage again

This hot piece of smouldering garbage was dreamt of by a person with zero semblance of user interaction and ease of usage. It disables copy/paste of passwords and user id! But it requires you to setup a new password every 3 months! How in gods name is this supposed to work with password managers? Please fix this mess! In the words of immortal Ron Swanson “ You are the celery of vegetables. Zero stars”. Update : Here we are back again. Just when we think it couldnt get any worse, you have released mobile number verification that doesn’t work for NRO/NRE accounts that’s connected to an international number. Please fire your QA team! If you were trying to show how bad it can get, well… you have done it! Another shining diamond in your crown of failures!!

The worst becomes even worse

For those wondering how it is possible, to them I say please download the HDFC bank app.

Response to developer after asking me to elaborate.

1) The primary screen after login is blank, every time.
2) Menu choice by default is “Imperia” which shows a blank screen. When I login to my account through my mobile, I want to get work done. A blank screen and getting into the menu to reach functions does not make an app useful.
3) A web page pops up on logging out with an audio tune. Totally unnecessary.
4) This hasn’t happened every time, but often there are advertisements that slide up from the bottom of the screen taking up screen space and launches a web page when trying to close the space wasting pop up

I am surprised your app testers haven’t given you this feedback.

You people already have my money, don’t try to find more ways to have me give you my money through pop up ads.

If I need something from the bank, I most likely will talk to a person, rather than waste time looking for an advert popping up when I am getting work done.

App is worst among major banks

The HDFC mobile banking app interface is poor. The landing home page is blank after logging in most of the times. Why a blank page after logging in? That's very stupid. HDFCBank doesn't offer card less ATM withdrawal feature even though HDFC keeps advertising it. I have searched all menu options and it's nowhere to be found. The side bar menus are not named correctly. HDFCBank is extremely limited in terms of the facilities it offers to customers using mobile banking. I tend to use desktop netbanking most of the time because using this mobile app is a frustrating experience. HDFC mobile banking app is as bad as ICICI mobile banking app

Security pain for people traveling or with multiple phones

The designers of HDFCBank don’t provide users to choose appropriate security levels. I’m someone who travels abroad a lot and have multiple phones. HDFCBank doesn’t provide alternative mechanisms for 2FA authentication like verification via email or secondary phone number. To even use HDFCBank they want to access messages and calls which seems like an invasion of privacy. Total morons seem to be designing HDFCBank . Instead of allowing us to configure security settings based on user needs they seem to be creating unnecessary blockers. Wats the point of having an app if it doesn’t meet customer’s requirements.

Best bank with ridiculous mobile app and tech team

Hdfc might be the best bank in world but one thing is sure there developers are the worst in world. We indians are tech back bone of world and then we have hdfc tech team. Few years back they launched a new version of app and that failed badly and now there existing version does not work. Most of the time you cannot login and it shows you are in low network area whereas I am using 300 mbps speed. And if you complain they ask you to write email with app version but thousand people have complained but these people feel its people problem not there tech team problem

Full of Advertisements, doesn't seem like a professional app

In the latest upgrade there a lot of Advertisements on every page. On top of that, clicking on close icon opens the ad in the browser which is typical ad revenue generation technique used by freeware software. Be professional, we have a lot of money and other investments in your bank. Think about customer experience before and making your customer's life easy instead of trying these cheap techniques.
If you really need to show your products, don't advertise like this. Get some feedback and UX experience from Bank Of America app.

Worst Updates

Please fire your IT people now. Every time there is an update you cannot login. The phone number it shows on the SMS verification page is not the one linked with my bank account. It’s some random number and I cannot edit that phone number either. I have used so many banking apps in last few years HDFC Bank never improves it gets worse by the day. Get the idiots out of your team they don’t perform correct testing before major upgrade and implementation. Also get some smart IT Auditors to perform change reviews prior to implementation.

Iphone dual sim issue

I had been using the mobile app of HDFC fir several years without any issyes. Now since january or April of this year (2024) I have been having problem. i am in the USA and India for 6 moths each in a tear. When I have to reinstall HDFCBank in the Usa from my iphone which has dual sim i am having s problem during my phone verification process which creates a pre completed sms that errors out when I send message from both ghe primary and the cellular number.
Please look onto this

HDFC App’s Outdated Login Method Makes It Impossible for Overseas Users—Time for a Fix!

Absolutely frustrating experience with the HDFC app! As someone who spends most of the time abroad, I’m appalled by HDFCBank ’s rigid login requirements. Forcing users to rely on sending a message through the registered SIM card just to access HDFCBank is absurd! How do you expect someone who’s overseas to do that? Not everyone can keep a local SIM active just to use an app.

Why isn’t there an option for an OTP login through either our registered phone number or email? In this digital age, making things simpler for customers should be the priority, not creating barriers. Whoever designed HDFCBank needs a serious reality check on user accessibility and rights.

And to make matters worse, why did you remove the option to use HDFCBank on an iPad for users without SIM cards? Don’t you trust the phone number and email we registered with? This is just another unnecessary roadblock. Fix this issue in the next update, HDFC—make it convenient for your international customers, instead of blocking us out!

Why is the app asking for Customer id?

I have installed HDFCBank many times, but never logged in. Why is HDFCBank asking for customer id? And where can i find it. In a time when all apps uses phone number and otp for login, HDFC is the only app that uses this kind of confusing login process. I am sure it won’t be just me who would have faced this issue and uninstalled HDFCBank . If customer id is the same as user id used in web login, the keyboard allows me to type only numbers.

Bad mobile app

First of all HDFCBank login is no good. They have a fingerprint system which is broke. Secondly the home screen is blank and doesn’t display balances. Thirdly all features in netbanking are either not available or hidden and difficult to navigate to. And finally that nasty piece of music and redirection to hdfc website. Who asked for this feature. When I open HDFCBank at night it makes this nasty high volume music waking up everybody. Can the devs fix it? I m a longtime customer of hdfc and feel the older app was far far better than the current one

Expect few irritating bugs, overall experience is good

This new design app is very good and flexible and easy to navigate, but What I observed is after logging into account, i see a blank screen. I have to explicitly goto ‘Home’ page from menu option. I thought this new release ‘10.0.7’ will resolve this bug. This is very irritating when every time you have to go to select Home just to see your account overview.
Login Method: ‘FaceID’

An urgent enhancement request

HDFCBank is working fine (except the blank screen when logging in - so many have asked - how hard is that to make the Home screen the default?)

*** Now coming to the most important enhancement that is needed - FAST **

You need to introduce the concept of nickname/personalization of account name in HDFCBank and net banking for an 1.) Account 2.) Beneficiary/Payee. This is pretty standard across banks - even nationalized banks.

This is the use-case:

I have multiple HDFC accounts in my name and transfer beneficiaries (with the same name but different account) - This is not an edge case.

Now a couple of times I made a transfer from a wrong account to a payee because the accoubt number selected was wrong. Do you expect us to remember or look up the long account number every time when selecting a source account? Same happens when beneficiary/payee name is same.

It is so cumbersome and prone to errors. I have other friends who have also faced the same issue.

PLEASE update HDFCBank and/or give visibility on when this basic change would happen. PLEASE.

Update required to use non Indian mobile numbers

Even if the Touch ID is enabled in the latest version, it does not work with out the quick access PIN and the PIN registration does not work with a non Indian mobile number like a US number. As NRI users can use their mobile number for all other banking purposes including OTP receipt why the cell field can’t work with them while PIN registration? Looks like apps developers are not listening to the customer complaints carefully enough. Please fix it ASAP. It’ll be given a higher rating then.

Highly improved

I do have another question. While I'm able to access my account on my iPhone using touch ID, I'm not able to do that on my iPad. It does not offer an IPIN option. HDFCBank does not allow me to set IPIN as I've already set it on my iPhone. Can this be resolved?
I am unable to submit the QUERIES/FEEDBACK FORM as the form does not accept mobile number from USA.
I sent the information as described. I got a reply in two days asking for all kinds of personal information. I decided to give up. Bottom line: HDFCBank will only work on one device either iPhone or iPad, but not both. Disappointed.

Absolutely pathetic experience

Update: The issue was fixed after reaching out to support. Kudos to the support team for quick fix. Again, shouldn’t have had this issue to begin with.

Original: I don’t know how, but every time I try HDFCBank, it’s worse than its previous iteration. I can’t even register myself using my phone number as an NRI customer
