Premium Customer since 2017. All of a sudden, DSTV (which by the way has the monopoly in SA) decides to reduce the number of user of the DSTV app to 1! The reason? To combat password sharing. Why do honest and law abiding customers need to pay the price? Who was sitting in that room and made that decision ?

There is Channel 132(CBS reality) on DStvStream that has been stuck on the same spot for months. Each time you select that channel on DStvStream it shows you the same scene, and it has been like that for months. But who cares at DSTV? They are too busy punishing the right customers because few customers are in the wrongs. Mind blowing

I struggle with receiving my monthly invoices. It is systematic: in a quarter there is at least one month missing. And the struggle I go through to get that missing invoice is incredible. Such a basic right yet DSTV doesn’t care fixing it. but again who cares at DSTV? They are too busy punishing the right customers because few customers are in the wrongs. In the meantime there are wrongs in its own system that DSTV doesn’t care fixing. That’s what monopoly does to customer service

It’s annoying to think a company that I’m sure invests a lot in technology fails to have an app that simply works …. DStvStream keeps pausing content especially while live streaming it happens all the time and repeatedly and you have to continuously switch off and on the stream to actually watch anything the It may be me but I’ve tried on different devices and different internet platforms.. mobile data and WiFi same thing . I’ve had poor service and watching experience all the time. But regardless we’ll try to watch

While the availability of streaming TV on demand is important, Multichoice have still not addressed issues previously raised on the crash of the DSTV Now service (2nd week of May). This is paid for, as part of your premium package, but DSTV do not offer a service to meet your demands for viewing when you want and have a monopoly on this, which is not fair (I have missed live sporting events due to DSTV Now service crashes, and nothing has been done to make up for this). As such their customer service and reliability make me rate this a 1.

Someone had access to my login details and has set up 3 devices under my account without my permission.
I keep removing the devices but as DStvStream never asks you to login (even AFTER password has been changed to a new one). I have no way of preventing the theft of my DSTV. Cannot believe our privacy and security of our accounts are treated so poorly and that DSTV makes it so easy for people to connect for free! As long as they never log out they can continue to connect previously paid devices to my account. Mind boggling that DSTV programming allows this.

The channels keep buffering when I use Google Chromecast. I then have to unlink the TV, close DStvStream , reopen it etc and when I come back, the channel has rewound about 10 mins, so I have to close and delink again, come back and then when I open it and go to the channel and then it’s all in order.

Other times is buffers and then continues but the sound is about 10 mins behind. So again I have to close, delink etc.

It happens maybe 15 times a day. I have videos of it all if you’d like to see.

I have done Speedtest and I am always fine around 30mb/s. Netflix and Showmax work fine, so it’s definitely DStvStream. I’ve also deleted and reinstalled DStvStream numerous times. I’ve also done the log out log in thing but it just always fails.

I have missed so many important moments in tv because of this and it’s so, so frustrating.

You would think that naspers, as a self professed internet company, would have half an idea how to use elastic cloud servers to meet demand when everyone logs into watch a live event.... but clearly not... DStvStream spends more time trying to buffer and change resolutions that actually showing the content that it makes the experience a complete insult to us as consumers. Trying to watch the sa vs japan game was so bad. If that is best streaming service this company has to offer I am shorting the stock first thing tomorrow morning at the opening bell.
A complete travesty of an app and a service! Avoid like a jacob zuma Julius malema ethics conference!

It used to be perfect. But at the time when it should be getting better, DStvStream is not accessible siting not network.
There are four users connected to my account and non of us is able to view anything. I have contacted the customer care several times and provided information but this has not resolved the issue.
I have deleted and downloaded DStvStream more than 3 times as guided by the customer care team but this did not resolve the issue either.
I now wonder if DStvStream is still fully operational.

I wish I could give -ve stars. DStvStream is always freezing and buffering and before you go on to say it’s connection, every other app/ streaming service works perfectly on the same connection except this one. It also consumes so much data for something that barely even work. Fix up whatever it is that’s the problem. Dstv really a waste of it weren’t for the prem

Just a follow up on this, it’s mad cause you just released an update yet this problem still persists. Absolute disgrace.

I agree with the other reviews. App is not great. Is has great potential however. Too many poor streaming experiences to my apple tv. Lots of freezing and stuttering. Wish it worked better. Also, apple tv app is still missing which is a massive gap from a development point of view.

6 May review: After the update for the previous version i could for the first time since using DStvStream airplay an entire episode without constant buffering / freezing etc. So step in right direction. However it was inconsistent. Sometimes it worked and other times i could not even airplay anything. Lets see what this latest version does.

11 May review: Yup. Back to the old days. Cannot airply to apple tv without constant freezing / stuttering / no sound etc. Cannot even watch properly on lowest quality setting on my phone. Showmax works perfectly, maybe learn from them?

US residents are not able to subscribe to DSTV due to broadcasting rights not available outside of Africa. It’s really disappointing because I, for one truly enjoy African programming and sure there’s plenty more according to the reviews that feel the same way. So with that in mind, I have a question. The US Market could bring more revenue to you guys if expanded to more countries/continents. Knowing the broadcasting rights are an issue, how would your company go about getting those broadcasting rights outside of Africa to allow people like myself to subscribe? Thank you and hopefully you guys would consider expanding in the near future.

I have written this review to let you know the issue I have been having from your app. DStvStream keeps showing a black screen before it even finishes loading with a message that says that “device unsupported make sure you are not running a modified version of iOS” ,all this started when I updated DStvStream . Please bring back the previous version of DStvStream because I can no longer stream my favorite shows 😥🙏.your positive response on this regard will be highly appreciated! And that includes a five star rating from me and the whole of my friends

I really am because I have dropped a review here previously about my inability to watch my matches on DStvStream
I have noticed it’s channel 203 premier league.
The link you replied me with isn’t working. I’m in Nigeria and I have tried over Wi-Fi. Other stations work fine except that one. I wish I could screen record and attach it here for you to understand what I mean. I’m not here to say anything bad about DStvStream, I just want to be able to watch stations I subscribed for on the go like you advertised. I don’t even watch on tv so I really need this to work

The overall idea of DStvStream is superb. However, the point is to have the same programs as the ones available on the decoder I suppose? This is not the case. Many shows are blocked on DStvStream due the DSTV not having permission to show them which defeats the essence of DStvStream . Second issue is the fact that many times they jump to the next show while the current show is still running. I guess they set the show sequence based on time no matter if the show started or ended late causing us to miss a chunk of minutes of shows.

A few basics they need to get right:
1. Give people the ability to remove something from their suggested lists. I don’t want to watch Isidingo or Masterchef, give the user the functionality to remove that from their suggestions and keep it off. If I change my mind, I can go find it.
2. Improve algorithms to match shows ‘You may be interested in’. So I watch action, now I may be interested in Masterchef. I watch sport, now I may be interested in Masterchef. I watch comedy, now I may be interested in Masterchef. You get the point? If what I watch has no bearing on what you show here, then just remove this whole section because it seems more that promoted shows are put there than what I actually watch.
3. Allow users to set the picture quality and subsequent download size based on connection. For WiFi connections, I want HD but for mobile connections I want a lower quality. The user has to manually change this if they so want to.

Generally, a lot of potential, definitely some easy improvements can be made which will make this an easy 4-5 Star app (from a functionality perspective).

I love this dstv app and I have it on my iPhone, but anytime I exit DStvStream and then restart it, all channels will be gone except from dish 100 even the catch up won’t be available, everything will just be upside Down until I re download DStvStream and re login before it gets back to normal, then same thing when I exit DStvStream again
Please upgrade and fix errors

Usually I love DStvStream and being able to watch on the go, but lately it is starting it be unstable. Almost every week now out of nowhere and doing nothing out of the ordinary, I get a message that says I have reached my streaming limit of two devices at the same time, and I must dergister from one to continue watching. I have to go out DStvStream entirely and wait at least an hour until I can get back in to carry on watching. This is despite me only watching through DStvStream on one device at the time, never mind that you can have up to five devices connected. Logging out and in again or reinstalling DStvStream doesn't work, and I just have to wait. Not sure what is going on with the stability of DStvStream , but what's the point if you can't count on it to watch your shows.

DStvStream was practically unusable for a few years, but now works perfectly I’d say. You can watch live tv, download to your tablet, make updates to your account, etc. as a Nigeria user.
I’m not sure you can pay subscriptions via DStvStream . Not tried that yet.
This should be a 5* review, but as a frequent traveler outside the African continent, I am not able to watch anything outside Africa. That’s a BIG problem for me.
Fix that and you have my 5*

I have been experiencing this for a while now where my DStv now app does not work properly some times there is no catch feature and only certain programmes being displayed only local South African channels. I have logged out and logged back in but nothing helps.

I’ll be watching a program on catch up through my Chrome Cast and all of a sudden it stops streaming and I get a notification saying “Sorry, there was a problem playing the video”. It’s happened multiple times in one evening. Dry frustrating when you’re trying to watch a program.

DStvStream won’t let me watch all my live shows again!!! I’m always on the move and DStvStream is the only avenue i get to watch my live shows but recently it’s saying I can’t watch anything that it has to be watched on my decoder.

DStvStream is great in that I can watch anything on the go and the video quality is excellent. It is very easy to use and streams quite consistently. I just don’t know why I can’t seem to cast DStvStream to chromecast. I constantly get the message on my tv screen; sorry, there was a problem playing the video. All the while the cast icon on the top right of my screen is still connected to chromecast. Would like any suggestions from the developer as how to resolve this. Since this is a feature DStvStream has I am disappointed it doesn’t work as it limits what I would like to do that is the reason for my rating. I understand everyone has different uses and if one wants to primarily just stream on the phone or other handheld devices then this does just that brilliantly.

Let’s start with my biggest gripe - and this is a problem with all of DSTV’s digital offerings, including Showmax - why on earth must we be limited to running DStvStream on a small number of devices? With intricate rules governing how often devices can be added or removed? Just do what Netflix and Prime TV and so on do: Limit the number of concurrent streams to two or three, but don’t limit the number of devices please.

Other than that, the ability to remove items from suggestions would be great.

Overall DStvStream is getting better and better, though it lacks just a little bit of polish.

After down loading DStvStream on my iPad and Apple TV post the press release there is constant freezing and buffering. The error message of something went wrong please try again later is the only thing that seems to work.

Thank you for the good and quality service which you provide to your customers. We are truly grateful. I’m never bored with DSTV now with or without electricity, I still enjoy watching my favorite shows on my mobile. Thank you Multichoice .Please keep it up. 👍 .
