Last available issue

It’s currently the middle of February 2019 and the last available issue to download is November 2018. It has no way to refresh the list and I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling. I’ve tried to reach out to Hemispheres thru FB and Twitter with no responses. Please address this issue as soon as possible or at the very least acknowledge that you are working on it please.

Please fire your dev team

Come on, seriously, I need to force-quit UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine and re-open to get two seconds of your home icon so I can get to my other saved summaries???? Shameful oversight!

Not functional

C’mon guys, this is a screwed up magazine display....do you
ever proof it? You can’t update, you can’t go back....somebody
needs to do the complete job....better get back to work!

Unintuitive

It's so incredibly unintuitive how UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine works once you're reading an issue in portrait mode. I mean....wow. I spent five minutes trying to figure out how to get back to the collection of issues screen. I even closed UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine from the background because I couldn't figure it out. I've NEVER had this happen to me with any other magazine or book app and I read tons of things on my iPad. I must have 20 different magazines and ereaders on here and never had an issue like this. Turns out you have to tap and hold to bring up the menu! That's not used in ANY other iOS app I've ever seen so the developers of this should be fired or they should read a book on UX. I felt so angered by this bad user experience that I just had to rant about it here in hopes that someone at the company will read this and hire a competent mobile development team. Oh, and to make this even worse I just noticed that you not only have users swiping from page to page but also up and down to access content?? WHY?? It's so hard to tell if that's the only content on the page or if there is more. Sure, there's a little down arrow, but little is the key word. Why make it look like your content is finished if there's more down below? Give visual cues that there's more on the page by letting part of the text and images be cut off at the fold! Argghh. I would put money on it that you had a team of Indians create your apps.

iPad version is terrible

The iPad version's navigation is horrendous. Once you open the one of the issues, it's impossible to view any other issues. There is no way to close the issue and look at another one (at least none that I found). I even tried restarting the iPad, but once you open UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine it goes straight to the issue that you were looking at.

Also, within the issue, you have to scroll through every page to get to the article you want to read; there is no easy way to navigate within the issue.

BTW, the iPhone version works fine for just the Three Perfect Days articles.

Great content, BAD UI!

Whoever wrote UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine has NO understanding of how apps work. It is really too bad because United has some great content. Just read any of their magazines in their planes. But WHO has been able to figure out how to pull up the menu? Where are the instructions? I have many other in flight magazines and they all work seamlessly. Perhaps UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine developers can learn a lesson or four from the Cathay Pacific inflight iPad app. Great content but the delivery is horrible. Go ahead and download UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine and give it try. Good luck trying to read a different issue unless you know beforehand that you need to tap and hold. Tap and Hold.

Not ready for prime time

(laughing) Who designed this thing ?

No way to get back to previous issues. No sort of global navigating except flipping through every single page.

There is some sort of cryptic bar of different sized bars that is pseudo-accesible at the top, filled with bars of different sizes that represent the pages (sort of). Yet, it serves no useful function except to tell the reader that they are three bars over to the right of the big double bar somewhere in the middle of the document. (Yeah, page numbers might have been a helpful idea.)

Not full content, missing articles

I downloaded UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine because I saw a couple recipes from the Chef's Corner section of the inflight magazine. I was hoping to view it later on my iPad when I got home.
Nope, Chef's Corner is not printed in the iPad version of Hemispheres Magazine. I hope that the editor will consider it for future publications.

Great App

App is easy to use and navigate. Images were sharp and print easier to read using my iPad versus the printed magazine. Especially liked the zoom feature on the "route map". Thanks United Hemisphere.

Like It!

I like UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine a lot. Excellent mixture of content, both written and video makes this an outstanding travel magazine. Works flawlessly, clearly a lot of work and thought went into the design.

Not intuitive, and pixelated

I'm glad that I came to read the comments here. I was getting really frustrated using UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine in portrait mode. Thanks to the other review which explained that I needed to tap and hold. Totally not intuitive, and I second your rant.
Furthermore, the magazine is all pixelated since it doesn't support retina screens. Really? We have had retina iPads for a few years now. Please support them with retina content!

Wow, really dig the Newstand support

As a frequent United Airlines flyer, I like that I can get this magazine on my iPad for those months when I am not traveling. I do miss David Carr, though, and I wish I could see the menu items and route maps.

Fix it

Downloaded many issues. Finished most recent issue and wanted to read others. I can open issue but it immediately closes back to newsstand. Would be a wonderful app if fixed.

Awful UI

Was looking for in-flight information. Saw a beautiful article about Seoul, clicked on it and could never get back to the main menu. I have been using computers for 20 years and this particular app's interface was awful. Had to use United's web site instead. Deleted UnitedAirlinesHemispheresMagazine .

Good job

This has some great travel ideas. If you love to travel, check this out!
