It used to be my favorite app...

DavisDrugGuideForNurses is a great, easy and reliable tool to find out about medications. The bad thing about it is that even if you hadn't renew your anual subscription, it still would let you use it, and now you can no longer do that. I would snooze the reminder of the renewal and use it to look up a medication and eventually pay again for the subscription anyways. I was at work and since it does not allow you to do that anymore, I will not renew my subscription since I couldn't rely on it when I needed it. My hospital offers at least two drug books linked to the charting system, I used them and found what I needed. There is also information available online for free. You should either lower the anual subscription or allow people to use it even if they haven't renewed the subscription. With that being said, they just lost a loyal customer that had renewed subscription and used DavisDrugGuideForNurses for 5 years until now.

It’s very good BUT...

I’ve had DavisDrugGuideForNurses for several years and I keep renewing subscription out of habit and fear of not finding something better.
The reason I am not fully satisfied: I look for new medications and it cannot find them! It’s frustrating! It’s extremely important to have the info on newer medications but it seems they’re not updating DavisDrugGuideForNurses’s database as frequently as they should! DavisDrugGuideForNurses shows me it’s updated, there’s nothing to add, but then, it does not show me a lot of meds! I also don’t like the fact that it’s tough to find combination medications.
I hope they will fix it! If not, I’ll most likely start using a different app in the near future!

RN, CNOR, Lic-P

While this is the drug app I like the most out of all the ones I have used, it still has a few issues. I've seen several new medications on TV commercials, but it seems to take forever for them to appear on here. The other, and perhaps the one I've read the most about, is that if your subscription expires, you can't access DavisDrugGuideForNurses in the version you've already paid for which is like a textbook self destructing after one year. That ticks me off. Because of those two things I give it 3 stars. I like it, and I'd recommend it, but I'd tell the person about those issues so they could make a more informed decision.

Not available for MacBook

Tried pulling it up on my MacBook so I can transfer content from app to a word doc that I need to print to have in class and was unable to do so. When I typed “davis drug book” in on google it took me to the davis drug book unbound website. That’s when I realized DavisDrugGuideForNurses isn’t the official davis drug book app, with the official one you can log in on google and also download it on your MacBook. Unfortunately, I already spent my money on this particular app... Gives me all the right info I just wish I had bought from the actual davis unbound so I can drugs up on my MacBook.

So far so good!

New grad nurse here coming to hail how extremely useful DavisDrugGuideForNurses is. It saves me time from having to lug my drug book, or look at the hospital’s medication system that only gives info from the patient teaching perspective, rather than the nursing perspective. It’s essentially a digital drug book, and has all the info I need. I’m glad I got the subscription; if you can afford to, do it!

Does not recognize me, search is tedious

I paid for my access via an app. It is not linked to my unbound account. Now DavisDrugGuideForNurses is the only thing I can use. No logging on via web browser.

Search function is difficult to find and use.

Love Davis. It is my most comfortable resource - but the tech is lacking

Don’t buy if you need it when you’re offline

I had the old Davis drug guide and loved it. But just like everyone else once I updated my iPhone this last time it was inop. So thought I’d try the one for nurses this time. Was working ok when I was in cell service range but didn’t realize it doesn’t work if you don’t have cell or WiFi until I was on a patient flight and needed to look up a medication and low and behold it doesn’t work. Thanks a lot! Now I hate DavisDrugGuideForNurses and need to find one that will stay on my phone. Anyway to get my money back??? Anyone have a recommendation on another drug book??

Love but

I love this drug guide! It has been super convenient in looking up a drug quickly. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I wish it was available offline. There are a few hospitals or clinics that block phone service therefore, I can’t use DavisDrugGuideForNurses . Wish it was accessible all the time. Otherwise, DavisDrugGuideForNurses is perfect when phone service is available.

RN, EMT

Quick reliable lookups when doing patient care. Like others would like to be able to see content I've paid for and forego upgrades if I choose to do that. Not really buying DavisDrugGuideForNurses it's more like a rental with a fee that adds up significantly over time.

Subscription renewal.

Great app, however I turned off the subscription when I was done with Nursing School. I recently updated my payment information on my phone, and yet I was still charged. Now it's not giving me an option to turn off the subscription.

How do you APA cite this source?

Having an APA cite in DavisDrugGuideForNurses would be very helpful (like on Wikipedia). Many people using DavisDrugGuideForNurses are students and using this source would be great for case studies. Knocked 1 star off because there is no info on Symbicort in DavisDrugGuideForNurses (it shows up in the search, but there is no info when you click on it).

Very Helpful for Nursing School

In terms of researching medications for care plans, this is possibly one of the best apps that I have used. Not only is DavisDrugGuideForNurses adapted from its physical counterpart, it also provides an easy way for me to look up medications with ease.

Great drug book!

I was given another drug guide from my school but compared to Davis’s Drug Guide, the other one I had was lacking. The layout Davis uses is much more fluid and easy to read. I recommend it 10/10!

Index not working

Good app if it works properly. I have not been able to look up a medication using the comprehensive index which I need to have that functional for DavisDrugGuideForNurses to be of any use to me. I’ve submitted 2 feedbacks to DavisDrugGuideForNurses developer with no response. I had to spend more money and get the actual book so I can get through my class. Very frustrating and I feel I wasted my money on DavisDrugGuideForNurses.

Great but hope there's a free one

I'm a student and cannot afford DavisDrugGuideForNurses . Its just sad this has limited use. I hope it can be free for core drugs without update, those who wanted update can then choose to purchase. But besides that, it works well, esp. if one is in clinicals because its hard to bring and look through the book all the time.

Kinda expensive

I love Davis and the way the info is organized. Only way it could be better is by making it free 😜🙃. No but real talk, a lifetime sub should be an option. Your selling this to nurses not millionaires, you lose a dumb amount of business to epocrates for this reason.

Can’t access account

I have been charged for DavisDrugGuideForNurses for a couple years now without even knowing it. So I tried to download and install it - but there is no option to log in or access my account.

Wish I found this app earlier in nursing school

I love DavisDrugGuideForNurses so much, it’s my one stop shop for all my medication verification needs. It able to calculate IV rates and so much more. This was totally worth the money.

Nursing students best friend

I love DavisDrugGuideForNurses! I have it for free right now, but a couple of people told me that it will eventually make me pay, I brought the book as well, wish I could have DavisDrugGuideForNurses for free!

Convenient

Very handy to quickly reference drugs. However, I would like DavisDrugGuideForNurses to include the corresponding page number(s) for the book.

Monthly Subscription.

I am a nursing student and simply can not afford to subscribe for a year. Why not offer a monthly subscription as well for people like myself? There should be different subscriptions options available; including an option with no update available but at least you won’t lose your access after a year.

Clergy and Rn

Love DavisDrugGuideForNurses. Use it frequently and find it fast reliable and easy to use. Love that it gives options when my spelling is off.

Auto Subscription

DavisDrugGuideForNurses automatically enrolls you to a PAID yearly subscription. You can cancel within 30 days. Problem is I can’t figure out how to cancel this subscription... there’s no cancelation option in DavisDrugGuideForNurses , or in my setting, or on iTunes. If you’re going to automatically enroll people in a paid service, at least make it easy to opt out.
