The Academy's penguins are part of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association's Species Survival Program, aimed at conserving this species in the wild.
African penguins (Spheniscus demersus) live off the coast of South Africa and Namibia.
In 2010, the International Union for Conservation of Nature classified the species as endangered, or at very high risk of extinction in the wild.
Watch the birds swim, dive, flirt, nest and relax from any one of three live webcams.
Listen in as Academy biologists answer questions from visitors during meal time, daily at 10:30am and 3:00pm PST.

What a great idea. I love PocketPenguins.
I do wish I could see a bit more of the water so we could catch a glimpse of some swimming penguins.
Edit: I just realize you can tap the screen for underwater view. I wish I could give 6 stars.

Great job. Love the Apple TV app too.
Small suggestion would be push notifications when the feedings are about to begin. If it’s the same time everyday, they could just be local timed reminder notifications. Cheers! 🐧❤️

1) It’d be really nice if you could zoom in to get a better view of the penguins.
2) Could you make the underwater cam have color?
3) I can’t find the section where you can ask the scientists about the penguins...
4) I wish there was a section that had a description (name, age, color band, personality, etc.) for each penguin.
5) Maybe you could have some sort of schedule for the penguins in PocketPenguins , or notifications? I’d really like to see feeding time vs when the CAS first opens in the morning.
6) It’d be cool if you did a livestream with one of the penguins to answer questions or show some tricks or something.

So far when I open PocketPenguins all I get is "no network connection" I love penguins so this is extremely disappointing! I will keep trying but right now I am pretty sad.
Update: it's been a few days and there is no chance! :(

Rlly nice app and so cool to watch the penguins!!!...but😫 the camera cuts out randomly, so some days you can't even see ANYTHING I was gonna donate and feed the penguins, but if the camera constantly cuts out then why should I believe this is a legit organization. The penguins are worth it, but this so called "California institute of sciences" might not be...😡😤 JUST LET US SEE THE PENGUINS LIKE PocketPenguins IS MEANT!
