Simple, Secure, Convenient!

Edit// v.5.2.95
This release has introduced a bug; I cannot select medication for refills, as it states “currently being refilled,” but such isn’t the case upon calling. This message even appears for meds that aren’t due for several weeks.
Thank you for the response and what appears, this far to be a successful patch on the login issue. I have been able to receive SMS for verification. Back to 5-Stars! 👍🏻 _________ Simply put: RxLocal makes for very clear, easy handling of my prescriptions! I love that I’m able to request refills via RxLocal , receive messages in-app, and to also have the versatile notification options which are provided! While I’m sure one’s experience will likely be [heavily] weighed based on the pharmacy with which they’re interacting, I definitely believe that so long as the pharmacy staff are doing their job, RxLocal will greatly improve communications! The interface is simple and clear. I can submit requests, check status and in the case of generics, I can even see the particular brand of generic which has been filled (as one medication I take changes almost monthly) and know before picking them up. A major plus is the interfacing among patient-pharmacist-provider. This makes for a seamless experience, and I absolutely love it!

Was great, now awful (but review updated)

This is my first ever app review. Tells you how TERRIBLE this update is.
Just had to update my app. Previously was very easy to use and stored all the info about my family’s prescriptions. Could submit refills easily with a touch of the screen and would tell me a pick up time.
Few days ago after update, I had to enter a new login and try to remember my password. Had to change it and still wouldn’t let me get into app. After several tries I was able to get in. The ease of submitting refills was gone. Had to go to several different screens to get to each family member’s lists. Very time consuming and not user friendly like before, but got it done.
Today, opened RxLocal and I have to REDO all my login and password etc - app didn’t remember it.
Have tried 3 times and gave up.
This update is confusing, difficult to get in, not user friendly. Have NO idea who thought to change to this current version.
Awful!
UPDATE -
Developers have gotten back to me and said they are working on a fix - they have had similar complaints.
I used RxLocal earlier today and it allowed me to log on with no issues. It also seemed as if the family members were all grouped on one page so I didn’t have to click several times to get from one to the next. More similarities to the older (more user friendly) version.
Hopefully my experience was a glitch and from now on RxLocal will be a better experience.
Change to 3 stars (for now)

Love after the update!!

RxLocal is great! With other apps like PocketRx, you have to scan in or manually add your drugs. Then, if you try to refill an arc when there is a newer Rx on file, those apps tell you that your Rx can’t be filled. RxLocal is great! It connects directly to the pharmacies software and shows me the drugs I have available, even those I forgot about. Comes in handy when I’ve forgotten that I had a refill on an antibiotic my doctor wrote me last year. Saved me a new trip to my doctor. And, I can directly message my pharmacy and even take a picture of my new insurance card. Hope your pharmacy is as good as mine at answering. Can’t say enough good things about RxLocal!!

Very Frustrating

I’m not sure what this update was supposed to do.. but has only caused issues so far. Before I had no issues having myself and 3 kids on RxLocal . Then after the update I had to reenter my info. No big deal. Mine popped right up. But when I went to add my kids? Yeah, I can’t. I filled all the steps to add a family member and it just keeps saying searching for patient or only has the continue button. No matter how much I click continue nothing happens. I need it to go back how it was BEFORE the update. At least then I was able to have all our prescriptions on there. I will definitely be contacting my pharmacy to ask them to use a different app if this is not resolved.

Great Idea, Needs Work

This is a great idea but it simply doesn’t work as promised. I’ve had it for less than a week and have had to reenter my reminders 3 times so far. Entered them one night after wondering why I didn’t get a reminder and seeing they were gone. Didn’t get a reminder the next night, and yep, reminders were gone again. They are, as I type, gone yet again. (All “Daily”) They only worked for two days, then have disappeared each day since. Don’t like to write negative reviews since I understand the work that goes into development, but issues like this are frustrating. Reminders are one of the main reasons I wanted to use RxLocal .

Ok app

In RxLocal, I used to be able to easily see what prescriptions were available for me to refill. Now it looks like all my prescriptions are ready all the time (which they’re not). It’s really hard to keep track of what I need to refill and when I can. I will say that the recent updates have made it more stable and I don’t have problems logging in anymore. But, it’s still so hard to keep up with my many prescriptions.

Feature request: allow users to delete prescriptions no longer in use. Right now, I have to ask the pharmacy to do that and they don’t always do it.

By

Unable to use

RxLocal keeps telling me it is unable to send me a text to verify who I am. It tells me to call my pharmacy to verify the number on the account. I reached out to my pharmacy, my number is on the account and correct. The other issue, when it does gather my phone number, it says it is texting me but then it fails. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but keep having the same issue. It’s extremely frustrating especially when the pharmacy encourages everyone to use RxLocal .

Terrible - tell your pharmacy

My pharmacist was surprised when I showed him RxLocal and walked through its most glaring problems. These problems are cited here in countless reviews. It looks like someone cares enough to write responses (a very good sign) but RxLocal updates are not addressing the problems that are repeated from review to review. It is clear that they lack the ability or budget to fix RxLocal. By showing the reviews and RxLocal to the owner of my pharmacy, it is my expectation that they will either return to a different app they were using or find a new one. It’s a shame, really, for such an important function, my family’s medicines, that RxLocal hinders rather than helps.

By

Needs improvement

RxLocal needs to show prices of current prescriptions that have been filled as well as the previous price of prescriptions. I previously used Walgreen’s before switching pharmacies and the Walgreens app was so much better as it showed all info regarding current and previous prescriptions, including prices so I could see if the price of a refill had changed plus being able to see the price of a current prescription waiting for pickup. It seems like showing prices would be a no brainer.

Bad. Bad. Very bad.

RxLocal used to work. It wasn’t spectacular or special in any way but it mostly did what it needed to. But there is a problem with RxLocal now which causes it to crash immediately upon trying to open it. It’s been this way for at least a couple weeks. RxLocal administrator/creator appears to be aware of the problem but still presents no fix. RxLocal is not one that people download for fun and games. It’s a necessary app for many people and fixing it should be a priority. I will be recommending to my pharmacy that they look into other options if the crashing bug is not resolved quickly.

Works as it should.

Unfortunately, common sense is an uncommon trait. I fear that fact may be coloring some of the negative reviews I read and that ALMOST persuaded me not to try it. My desire for convenience forced me forward and I am glad I did. My experience with RxLocal is the polar opposite of what one would expect given RxLocal ’s rating, thus compelling me to write this review. It is simple to use and functions reliably. Thank you.

Love the app, but new version is broken - Fixed!

Update - this last update restored being able to access both profiles. It is good now.

I’ve been using RxLocal for a while and it works well. Just downloaded the new version and my spouse’s med list causes RxLocal to abort. I can load mine just fine. I tried deleting RxLocal , restarting my iPhone 11Pro with current iOS, reinstalling RxLocal , but it still aborts on her info.

Closes out

So I got into my app finally but it only brings up the main screen and then it shuts down I had deleted it and re-downloaded it and updated my phone and everything and it still won’t work. What is going on? This is is not OK as I need to get my prescriptions filled and communicate with my pharmacist. When will it be fixed? Is there another app that we can do in the replaces this one as I go through Granger Medical pharmacy in west Valley city Utah. When will this get fixed?

Very disappointed

When RxLocal first came out I very seldom had problems. Now I have problems pretty much every week. My grandma is on several different medications, and if the refills run out the prescription is just going away like it was never there. Now the last few times I’ve used it the pharmacy says they don’t receive the order for the refills and they have no idea what it was I’m needing. So I end up going home just to see what it was I needed and calling it in. So what is the point of RxLocal ? I am just going to stop using it and go back to calling it in. At least I won’t be wasting my time.

Lacking basic information

A few things that would greatly benefit RxLocal:
- prescription and payment history
- if prescription status is ”on hold”, specify the date when it will be able to be filled and whether the prescriber post dated the prescription or if it is too early too fill do to regulation
-add a “days supply remaining” in the “learn more” section on a medication

Bugs:
-Many prescriptions’ statuses will be perpetually stuck on “in progress” with no further information

-When receiving a notification of a message from the pharmacy, RxLocal always falsely shows that there are 2 new messages. When entering RxLocal to check a message, you have to load the messages twice to get newer messages to show

If these things are added and fixed I would rate 5 stars

Missing data

This is the worst possible RX application that I’ve ever used. It’s always missing data. Also, when you select refill medications, and you select one to refill, until that prescription is due to be refilled,or until your doctor sends in a renewal script, it’s going to say “last submitted on” and the date that you selected refill medications. It very confusing. Also, whenever your prescriptions have been filled, it still says “in progress” until your next refill. I want to switch pharmacies just because if RxLocal.

By

The worst yet

I literally have have dozens of apps on my phone and this is by far the worst app I have ever used since they went to this multiple verification methodology. Someone didn’t know what they were doing when they attempted to crate this monstrosity and then someone who was even more clueless approved it before doing any testing or QI. If it is not improved quickly, I will pull it from all my Pharmacies because it has generated so much negative publicity, confusion and extra work for my staff in every location.

By

Buggy

I had to use RxLocal a few years ago and then moved away from my pharmacist and stop using it. My new pharmacist now uses RxLocal and has my current address. When I went to refill a prescription it pulled my old address from the old pharmacy. There was no way to correct this outside of removing the old pharmacy.

Additionally when I’m sending and receiving messages with the new pharmacy, it sometimes comes back stating that the message is from the old pharmacy.

NOT WORKING !!!

RxLocal or the on-line is not updating and absolutely no help from Pioneer. I transferred my wife in January and it still does not list any of her medications. It does list her flu vaccine from November. It has not updated either of our insurance information. None of my prescriptions have updated. Called the pharmacy twice in the last four weeks and they tell me Pioneer is aware of the problems and they are working on them. Problems may be fixed with an update but they will not give any estimated time line. Wish i had never changed…

Always been good for me

Palace Drug has been great. They allow me to order refills, send them text messages and they deliver.

The only downside/con is they are closed on weekends. I have used the email/contact feature but I’m not sure they are received because I never hear back and the emails are delivered.

Overall, it’s a good app and the only app currently available for ordering my meds.

By

Needs inactive med list

I would really like to be able to have two med lists for each person: active and inactive. Having meds I don’t use anymore on the main list, including one time things like antibiotics, adds unnecessary confusion. Let me shuttle those meds to an old meds or inactive meds list. I could add them back to the active list later if need be.

By

Easy to Use

Having switched from a large chain pharmacy to a locally-owned drug store, RxLocal far surpasses the one I used at the previous pharmacy. My only issue is that RxLocal doesn’t inform me when my medications have been filled and ready for pickup.

By

Great App

Love the ease of RxLocal , very quick to send in for refill. I wish it would notify us once the pharmacy has actually filled the prescription, so we could pick up at that point. Other than that, I talk about RxLocal to so many people, including my doctors.

By

Access to my pharmacist

Through the messaging component of RxLocal , I am able to text my pharmacist and have access to her like never before! What a great tool.

By

Potential is there

The potential is there. My parents only use one email, you can only have one user per email, seems like it’d be easy to put in two users, I could see a parent with children finding that feature useful. I also wish I could just scan my vials that need refilling.

I’ve ran into glitches where a medication that did not have refills said it’d be ready for pick up in two days, but in two days it wasn’t even faxed to the doctor. Something wasn’t working right.

By

Easy

Love this! However, I would like to be able to delete scripts we no longer use. I have to go thru countless old scripts to re-order. Gets very confusing!

Doesn’t work

Can login on desktop browser but not app. Contacted this app customer support and they were zero help. Told me to talk to my local pharmacist. Local pharmacist is wondering what they are supposed to do to solve an app login issue. And, yes, tried all the ‘forgot username/password’ options. App deleted

By

Awesome app!

So nice to be able to message my pharmacy now, and the med list and Refill tools are icing on the cake!

By

Not working

RxLocal used to work and it was great. But then there was an update and it stopped working. I can log in, I’m asked to select a PIN, and then RxLocal crashes. Every time. Even if I just sit there and do not enter a PIN. This is on an iPhone X.

By

Unable to log into app

I can log into desktop, but can’t on RxLocal . Seems others have had the same issue.

By

HORRIBLE

Impossible to setup an account. I ONLY use a password manager and I go to create a strong password and come back to it and it starts over from the beginning.

By

Absolute Trash

Unable to log in on app, ever; can only log in online.

App crashes

It's a good app but it crashes when try to setup reminders. It would also make RxLocal better if you could check on the refill status to see when it's ready & how much it is going to cost.

Just changed to one star because when I updated RxLocal just now, it will no longer get to my medication list. When I try it shows “Prescriptions 0” & a pop up box saying Error Request failed: Bad request (400)

I am no longer having problems with RxLocal and really enjoy using it now. It is really helpful to be able to refill your Rx through RxLocal . I just wish there was some kind of notification on when the Rx is ready and how much it is going to cost.

Thank you Hallsville Drug & Hardware

This is a great app! Very easy to use and quicker than calling them in.
A couple of questions:
Is there some way to delete scripts with 0 refills?
How can I contact the developer with questions about my app?

Definitely a keeper on my smart phone!

Refill message says no medications found.

RXLOCAL - if it is an app for the people, it should have a support channel. My pharmacy is great, and I like the pharmacists. At my independent local pharmacy. Not only have I been frustrated, but it also pains me to see the faces of the pharmacists when Ik know how hard they are working while there seems to be no local end-user support and only you can ask the pharmacy who's having people work harder than they have ever worked before. PIONEER RX SYSTEMS - Support your APP>. Pharmacists can't call you to be systems experts on your apps for their customers. If you wrote to support it. From the looks of this thread documentation and QA are other needs I suggest you support.

This app is terrible. When you go into the refill part of the app, it will tell you that you have no medications. You can't request refills, what's the point of this app. None, it doesn't work !!!

Cynthia   2 years ago

I downloaded the APP to my phone. Every time I get to the part to enter the validation code you NEVER send me, it does not work. I NEVER get a validation code. I have high speed internet, I have tried several days. You sent an email that works online, but not on the phone app. I am VERY frustrated. This is what my pharmacy uses for refills. I guess I will not get my much needed meds thanks to your broken two bit horrible system. You need to improve or go out of business. This is worthless!!!!! This app is TRASH and totally useless. Go out of business and let someone develop a system that actually works!!!!!

Kathy Mcbride   2 years ago

TRASH!!!!! moved my meds to INACTIVE!! what the HECK???? NO ONE IS HELPFUL APP PROVIDERS NOR PHARMACIST REDICULOUS !!!!!!

This app is TRASH!!!! moved my meds to INACTIVE WHAT THE HECK????? rediculous AND NO ONE IS HELPFUL—- customer service nor pharmacist !!!!

Troy C Perret   2 years ago

Can’t set up an account. I typed Exactly what’s on my prescription bottle.

Edward Baker   2 years ago

I am not currently receiving messages when my scripts are ready to pick up. I have been told to text "START" to a specific telephone number and have done it several times with no result. Am I even supposed to be notified? The problem could be that the only option I have for receiving my scripts is delivery. I always pick them up and the pharmacy knows this so they don't deliver them. I use Mitchell Downtown Drugs in Neosho MO. They are clueless about helping me resolve these issues. - I sure wish someone could solve my problems. I have to contact the pharmacy each time to see if my scripts are ready. With their old software I got a text, so you can understand my frustration. Thanks Ed Baker
