Beat Passenger: Find your ride Reviews

BeatPassenger was great and offered many advantages which through the recent changes were all negated. One can not choose a ride anymore. It was not a beauty contest but things like “are pets allowed, how big is the car can it accommodate many luggages and people is there an airconditioning and so on” are not known since randomly a driver is assigned. What’s the point then to use BeatPassenger one. Am just as randomly hail one on the street or call a radio taxi. Car sharing to common destinations is also not a good idea. One may NOT want to share his cab!!! Or if 2 people are in a cab and 3 are looking for a ride and the driver gets assigned to this group one gets left out???? How does this work? And finally mandatory to give the exact destination which the driver does not see hmm I don’t believe that. Secondly why should there a database exist that registers where I go with a cab how often and so on.... that is similar to a police state. I am sorry but the changes make use of BeatPassenger not particularly attractive definitely worse than BeatPassenger of the parent company in Germany which kept all the attractive features !!!

It’s a good app because the prices are fixed, but a lot of times the taxi drivers “confirm arrival” when it’s obvious that we haven’t even started the ride. It seems like the driver does this to avoid getting a negative rating from BeatPassenger ? I don’t understand how they can do this when by GPS it’s obvious that we haven’t even arrived to location. Sometimes taxis can even confirm arrival when they are far away...

It also takes forever in the mornings to find a taxi in Peru. For example, I’ve been requesting since 7:05am and finally at 7:36 I was able to get a taxi when the price has jumped by almost 50% because it’s now traffic hour. They should respect the price we were given since it’s quite frustrating when obviously I had been requesting at an early time to avoid this price. Quite disappointing.

Beat doesn’t check the cars of the drivers. In order to get the better rate, the drivers lie about their cars. Seems like beat doesn’t check the drivers information.

Too glitch;, just use Uber. You have to either verify your identity either by entering a credit card or logging into facebook in order to get a ride (even if you want to pay for the ride using cash). EVERY time I tried to verify my identity using my 4 credit/debit cards, BeatPassenger gave me the message “Your card is not valid”, so I couldn’t verify my identity, and thus order a ride. When you try to verify your identity using Facebook, BeatPassenger opens a tab to log into Facebook. The problem is that every time I entered my login information and pressed “Log into Facebook,” the page would reload and take me back to the Facebook login screen, meaning that, again, I could not verify my identity, and thus order a ride. Developers: let’s be real - are these two ways (and to be clear, these are the ONLY two ways) the best method of verifying someone’s identity? When BeatPassenger asks someone to verify their identity using a credit or debit card, BeatPassenger doesn’t even ask for the name…

Not quite like Uber, it just sets up a match between passenger and driver. The driver apparently knows in advance where he is being asked to go, so that makes drivers happy, and they can ignore requests they don’t like. Two different countries, but the TaxiBeat drivers in Lima seem less downtrodden and more committed than the Uber drivers in Washington DC.

1. The SMS verification doesn’t work when you’re in the location you want to use BeatPassenger , despite setting it up prior to travel
2. Your authentication process is a joke. I logged in with my other +1 cell number (since the first one I pre set up magically wouldn’t work) in Colombia and someone had that “account” (aka had registered my number) and had been using it for a while. This had no impact to me as it was just a phone number and tied to my finances or cards, but once I logged in I instantly had access to their entire account and could have used their card for “free” rides. Realized at that point this whole thing is a joke and deleted it immediately.

FYI for anyone reading this and traveling in South America where uber no longer works— Download DiDi. It works just fine, and it’s at least a bit more secure. Don’t let Beat beat you.

I left my phone in a taxi earlier today and haven’t been able to get in contact with the driver. The number I called for the beat help desk hung up on me twice. The “left something in the taxi” section of the help area of their website explains that you need BeatPassenger to be able to contact the driver. Haven’t gotten an email back to be able to get the pin required to get in BeatPassenger on my friends phone, and the pin can only be sent to my phone. Only 8 out of 30 people found this advice helpful on their website, yet it hasn’t been updated. Was in a taxi with Florian T. And the license plate was TAB6765 if anyone here decides to help me. I made a dumb mistake in leaving my phone but I cannot be the only person to have done this. Will compensate the driver for returning my phone if anyone can help me get in contact with him. Very stressful situation.

We had a terrible experience using BeatPassenger. Our driver intentionally went the wrong way to increase the meter and then got upset with us when we told him he was going the wrong way. He went 10 minutes out of the way and Then after we corrected him he said he didn’t know the way to our hotel, even though he was following his GPS which was telling him the correct route... I realize BeatPassenger doesn’t control the taxi driver but the driver tried to charge us 10€ more than the Beat estimate.

When we got to the hotel he got upset when we told him we were not going to pay for his mistake. He began yelling at us and swearing in Greek. He acted like a Child. It was by far the worst taxi experience of my life.

My advice- have your own GPS on to make sure the taxi driver isn’t going the wrong way.

This used to be my go to app for taxi hailing. However, in the past months I’ve encountered many glitches for this to be helpful. For example, after I initiated looking for a cab, it remains in search mode until no cabs can be found, and yet a few minutes later I get a sms msg saying that a cab has arrived. The transaction is no where found on BeatPassenger so I had no idea that a match happened nor do I have any idea which car, it’s location and who is the driver. It happened at least 4 times in the past month, once after I already got another taxi via Uber.

Also the fact that they removed the ability to select users, a feature that distinguished Beat from all the other services is not well thought out. Will move to Uber for my future rides.

I’ve been using BeatPassenger in Lima for over a year and it’s been pretty decent so far. I’ve had very good drivers and maybe a couple that weren’t good enough for different reasons. However, what I’d love to is the option to add stops. In the mornings I usually have to take a cab since I have to go with another person because we work very close to each other. The problem is that I can’t use Beat until the night, because there’s no option to add stops and simply I don’t trust any other app. Any other new feature would be nice, but I think this is the one I expect the most.

Using Beat in Athens, Greece. Love it ... however: (1) BeatPassenger does, unfortunately, not access my address book with all of my contacts and addresses. (2) Entering a GPS coordinate as destination won't work – too bad if I want a taxi to my favorite hiking trail or beach or coastal spot that does not have a house number. (3) It would be useful to be able to enter the destination *before* waiting for the pickup point field to be filled in. And (4) please make an Apple Watch app!

I love how much cheaper BeatPassenger is than Uber and have been solely using it for that reason, but I’ve been having a lot of issues with it not picking up my correct location and sending the driver to the wrong place. And if I don’t lock my phone, the address will sometimes change in my pocket and I’ll end up in the totally wrong place! I’ve never had these issues with other apps so hopefully they can fix these issues soon cause otherwise it’s great!

It used to be a great app for rides in Athens, but it got really bad from June 2021: no drivers. You can wait for 20-30 minutes and there are still no drivers. I live in Athens and I tried to use it at different times and days of the week, but was successful only 2 or 3 times since June to November.
An extra pain - BeatPassenger sometimes doesn’t show you that the driver is found: it keeps showing “searching”, but if you close BeatPassenger and reopen it again you’ll be surprised to see that driver is already waiting for you.
You can’t schedule a future ride.
Uber now works much better.

It’s almost 2019, and BeatPassenger won’t take my credit card simply because it wasn’t issued locally. What? So if you’re a tourist or travel around Latin America for business, you better get a different credit card in each country you visit. What a stupid policy! Use a better payment processing platform. Also, let me schedule stops along the way. And will you just drop your in-app calls system? It’s slow, unreliable, and buggy. Let me just text or call the driver directly.

I always have a hard time getting BeatPassenger to work, I get a ‘no connection’ message and I’ve recently been charged for a trip I didn’t make. I tried getting a beat but nothing happened for a couple of minutes, then I cancelled and surprisingly enough I got an e-mail about my “last trip”. I was never notified that someone was on the way and I even accessed BeatPassenger again and it didn’t seem like I was on a trip nor waiting for a taxi. Then, I had to rate the driver of this phantom trip in order to be able to write a complaint. I will not be using BeatPassenger anymore and I do not recommend it.

Used to use BeatPassenger and the service a lot, recent changes however are not allowing users to choose the driver they want (why have ratings and show other details if I can’t use them I wonder)? Claiming that demand is high doesn’t mean that o cannot choose the driver I want and definitely doesn’t improve my experience. Also recently it is becoming increasingly difficult to get a driver (any) using BeatPassenger , I assume because less drivers use Beat as their primary channel! Overall very disappointed and looking for alternatives!! Beat wake up!!!!

i live in Mexico City, it is impossible to use BeatPassenger . there are never any drivers available. ever. most of the time it never really offers the ride to anyone, just immediately bounces back with “no drivers available”. in all my attempted i have so far got one Beat driver - not a tesla or a zero - to accept a ride and he was 20+ minutes away. either there’s something really wrong with BeatPassenger itself or the service should be closed to new users until more drivers come on board. absolutely useless.

BeatPassenger used to be great but keeps getting worse and worse!
1) waiting times (if you are lucky to find a cab available) have been going up and up and I talking about suburbs around the center of Athens.
2) cab drivers can cancel the ride even though they were on their way to you, without any explanation and Beat doesn’t give you the option to leave negative feedback on them.

The best application to use in Greece .. the application save you more than 60% of the cost that normal Taxi will ask for.. for example when I came to athens the taxi took 78€ from the airport to the hotel .. when Checked out from hotel to the airport I used Beat .. I only paid 31€

Downloaded BeatPassenger and tried to register but never received a text or call. I tried numerous times! It looks as though BEAT does not have service in the United States. As suggested to other reviewers with similar issues, I sent an email to Beat. A week later, today, I received an email reply, from the “BEAT Customer Care Team” but, it’s in a different language and I cannot read it. Since it appears that “Beat” does not offer service in the U.S., I just deleted BeatPassenger . Too bad.

Drivers are great, prices are very good, but app sometimes doesn’t work it gets stuck thinking....
Pick up times keep changing. Sometimes it shows driver arriving in 2 minutes and will change to 8min once you are already outside on the street waiting, coupled with Changes in location of driver. There might ne a glitch sincronizing with waze or google maps.

BeatPassenger used to be quite good up until 2017. Since then it has been consistently getting worse. Finding a driver is impossible, calling customer service is not an option at all (literally there is no number for customers), drivers take way too long to arrive. I’m not sure there is a decent alternative in Greece other other than hailing a cab on the street. Beat is truly a disappointment, coming from someone who really liked it a lot in the beginning.

I have tried using it on a phone with a foreign SIM card and the process is hard.

I would recommend not using BeatPassenger , unless there are significant improvements.

I give it 3 star because it’s the only way it will show up for users to read how horrible BeatPassenger is. I cannot only not see my driver or had to wait 30 min to ride horrible crazy drivers in Greece but I had to pay in cash. It seems BeatPassenger has bend down over backwards for local taxis just to make money. Definitely compared to Uber or Lyft this is an app to avoid in a country that doesn’t embrace competition.
