Having to pay for selected news items is an indication of a poor product that is not worthy of advertisers interest. It is full of liberal trash and is only there to support the message of the PM and her flunkies. Get real, get some balanced news that all can read not just the privileged.

This is the worst news platform I have ever used. The news articles are written in a poor logical order with lots of repeated information and readers can hardly get the key ideas. A waste of time! Some of the articles contains obviously biased views and perspectives. Have already deleted NZHeraldNews and will never read news from this source again.

Every second article is now restricted Premium with constant ads to subscribe. Happy to pay for serious investigative journalism but most of the locked articles are general news and press releases. The now limited non subscriber news has driven me to other sites with the same stories unblocked. Had there been less pressure I would have considered subscribing

Fed up of getting a notification to listen to something live and then opening it only to see and not hear it, happens almost all the time, no sound. Also WAY too much paid promotions disguised as news releases. Toppled with the fact I can’t stand NZ Herald journalism of total and unprofessional scare mongering it’s time to delete NZHeraldNews .

Don’t bother downloading this unless you are prepared to pay for premium access. Most news that is freely accessible on Stuff or the Associated Press app is not able to be read on NZHeraldNews.

New update that allows premium content (that is unreadable unless paid for) on to the news feed is very frustrating as it means you can’t read half the articles. Shall be looking to other apps for my news from now on.

Firstly, thanks so much for the invitation to rate and review The New Zealand Herald app. As an ex-pat living in Oregon, USA, I love reading The Herald on my iPhone app every single day! I still have a major part of my family in New Zealand and consider The Herald app a lifeline to all the current news there... it’s a little part of home at my very fingertips! I am a little disappointed though, yet fully understand, that I can no longer enjoy ALL your reporting I used to without paying an extra fee for your Premium only articles. In particular I can no longer read Ana’s “Sideswipe” which always used to put a smile on my face (have even had my own contribution published)! Keep up the great work and thank you once again. PS: In a former life I worked for The Herald in Albert Street, Auckland!

Gets very annoying constantly seeing ads for ZB/Hosking’s etc; also reading an article and seeing links to other articles on the same topic then finding some go back months is extremely frustrating.
Don’t know if I will resubscribe or just go to Spinoff for more balanced news.
Can’t trust the news coverage like I used to be able to.

I have a Herald Premium Subscription. But I am thinking of cancelling due to my perception of unbalanced reporting.

Too often there are articles by Mike Hoskings, Steven Joyce, Heather du Plessis Allan, Matthew Hooten et al but there is no counterbalance. These writers are certainly not balanced in their views and their political stances. They are unashamedly anti the current Government. The mark of a good newspaper is balanced journalism. Remarkably this newspaper seems to have stopped doing this

Fawning reporting of the PM’s birthday, partner’s support and appallingly premature celebration of being Covid free left a lot of egg on the face of this propaganda spewing “news” site. Lazy retreads of Fake News New York Times’s propagandist articles fakely portray US politics. Shame on this “news” site for claiming that NZ and the EU are the leaders in the fight against Chinese world domination when it’s a US-led fight with tepid and fearful support by NZ and the EU.

Almost all the content that is interesting is behind the paywall. If it was paid across the board maybe it could be a bit cheaper (it’s expensive for what you get) and actually you’d get more readers.

Overall the website is good. Easy to navigated but it does not allow online comment to opinion pieces which is frustrating. Also broaden the overseas news sources. Why only the NYT or Washington Post. Both are left leaning and have had to issue major restriction and corrections on big stories. Add content from the Wall Street Journal for more balanced content.
The coverage of the Govt’s response to Covid has been fawning and lacking independent analysis. By any objective measure keeping kiwis out and locking down Auckland for protracted periods is an economic and social disaster. Yet the newspaper refuses to really spell out these failings.

As an overseas reader from LA, the one improvement I’d request would be to remove the awful repetitive outbrain ad platform that spams clickbait messages about cheating spouses, solar panels and dog food at the end of every article

Full of well written timely articles and news, the New Zealand Herald is a joy to read. The paper is comprehensive with excellent coverage of both national and global news.

Horrible experience, pop up adds, videos use catch bait pics and then have nothing to do with the video of you find out after watching. List goes on and on

About every 6-8 weeks NZHeraldNews suddenly will rotate the page and remain stuck in this position. The only fix is uninstall and reinstall this has been going on for almost a year. Hope the fault is finally addressed.
