Only one complaint

The new app works fine for me after an initial hiccup: Having to enable cellular data streaming in RushLimbaugh is unnecessary and took me reading reviews here to figure out what was going on after a day of frustration. I see no reason for this redundancy. Cellular streaming should be enabled/disabled from the phone settings and that’s it!

Other than that, I love the new look and it works quite well for me. I like being able to both stream shows and individual sound bytes. Rush has a lot of talking points and having to not wade through hours of show to find the clip I want is so helpful when replaying for friends in conversations and such. They do a good job of putting the individual stuff separate for the bigger talking points. I also like that the sound quality is a lot better than my local AM affiliate. I find myself using RushLimbaugh even when I can listen on the radio.

I look forward to a future update without the redundant cellular streaming issue. I know I’m not the only one who finds this annoying. Other than that, good work.

Less is more

For years I was a 24/7 subscriber and listened using Downcast, a podcast player that is simple and extremely functional. Rush’s old app was ok, but not worth having because it wasn’t nearly as good as Downcast. I replaced my phone and now am forced to use the AWFUL new app because all the trash they added has made the feed unplayable in Downcast. Interestingly, the morning updates work fine- which seems to indicate (I’m talking to you here, Skyler) that it isn’t user error. It’s the crummy app.
Thanks.
Like other reviewers, I am frustrated about the weird interface. The whole point of subscribing is that I’m busy. I want automatic refresh when shows are published, a brief description, and the ability to listen to the whole show in two clicks. If you want to listen to the latest show you’re just screwed. I guess it now takes them a couple of days to prepare the content, so your only option is to WATCH the live show, complete with dead air/commercial breaks and without any way to easily navigate. Want to rewind a few minutes of the program? Nooooope. It will start over. Think you’re playing today’s show? Nah. One of the 15 buttons in RushLimbaugh was triggered by your pocket and you’ve been listening to ten minutes of a commercial break from last week. Makes me want to cancel my subscription.

It’s the show stupid

When the majority of people using RushLimbaugh have always used it to access the show’s audio why would you make us change screens and scroll down and click again to open the show audio???? Once we open the audio we no longer have summaries of show topics to help us decide which episode we want to access - that doesn’t show up until after you start an episode (and then it scrolls by in tiny font with blue on a black background...cmon guys). We still don’t have a 15 sec rewind/fast forward feature after every state of the art audio player incorporated it years ago. RushLimbaugh forgets where you are in a program if you interrupt the playback to answer a call. The slider used to navigate within an episode does not work most of the time. RushLimbaugh is not an improvement for anyone who wants to listen to The Rush Limbaugh Show 24/7...and the show is the point isn’t it???
And since I’m airing complaints I’ll add mine to a few other commenters - I’m tired of paying for the show for my convenience and still having to spend a minimum of 5 minutes an episode dedicated to these live commercials for boll and branch, norton core, legacy box, simply safe, etc. It doesn’t make me interested in purchasing these products - it has the opposite effect.

Rush with cancer

As a person battling cancer, I all to well know what you are going through, and what you will be going through. I have listened to you for over twenty five years. You are like a father figure to me. I was on my way yesterday going to chemo when I heard the news. I cried and I believe you wanted to, too. One thing about cancer it doesn’t discriminate. One of the things I can tell you is to learn you body. If you feel something is not right. Say something!! I will be praying for you and your family. You family will need help more that you. You know what you have and will have to face it one day at a time. Your family has no clue what you are going through. There is no money, no gifts a person can give you. All the wealth in the world can help or save you . Prayers are the only time that can save you. If anyone says what can I do for you. Just say pray for me and my family. Wish you all the best. Always want to meet you. Maybe one day will meet in heaven. God bless🙏

App freezes on start screen

I can't use RushLimbaugh any more, although I would. It stops 3/4ths through the splash screen and freezes. I hope they are working on this.
RushLimbaugh won't load at all in airplane mode. Crashes immediately.
Tried to remove and re-download...also restarted my phone. Still same splash screen fail.
If it ever gets fixed, I also don't like that I have to flip through a screen and scroll a view just to get to the podcasts. I also wish the podcasts were in release order than by day, hr1, 2,3...hard to find out what is next to hear when missing a couple days and trying to catch up. There should be some indication that a podcast was played.
Also, if I leave RushLimbaugh for a day, and was in the middle of a podcast, RushLimbaugh restarts and I end up flipping through the list trying to figure out where I left off. Takes too long. You should keep track of what is currently being listened to(plus where it last left off, and return to that place). The reload-refresh is terrible because of this. Poor user experience because of this. I know you want to pass new stuff as soon as it's available, but it shouldn't be at the expense of returning to where you left off. This must improve.

Mostly good but has some issues

Love to listen while at work. I spend many hours in my vehicle and listen via Bluetooth. Unfortunately since a few updates ago, the show will not stop playing if you get a phone call. Very frustrating trying to talk on the phone and the show plays at the same time. Fortunately, the caller can’t hear it even though they probably wished they could. I also have a similar issue as another reviewer with Bluetooth sometimes resumes the show and other times it plays something else, either from podcasts or music.

I would also like to make a feature request. It would be nice if RushLimbaugh would keep track of which shows/hours have been played already.

Keep up the fight Rush, both personally and professionally.

A terrible user experience

RushLimbaugh is not user friendly at all. I have been a subscriber for over 5 years, and just paid nearly $80 to renew my membership for this. I am a life long Rush listener and his content is as good as ever, but I am at my wit’s end with RushLimbaugh. My only reason for paying for the subscription is to be able to listen to the show commercial free at anytime. RushLimbaugh constantly buffers, it randomly crashes therefore losing its spot, it is not recognized as an audio source on the phone so there is no playback menu, the sliding bar to fast forward/rewind rarely works, and when you get a phone call, you have to manually go back into RushLimbaugh and wait for it to load for it to continue playing. When one hour of the program ends, you also have to go into RushLimbaugh to manually play the next hour. These issues have been going on for months. I have emailed support multiple times with the same response of “we are aware but there is no time frame for a fix”.

It is so disappointing that Rush finds this poor product to be acceptable for paying subscribers. These bugs have been ongoing for months, and there seems to be no sense of urgency to deliver a functional user experience.

I hate to give one star... but the app needs to be fixed

Love rush. Love his podcast. The one star is because RushLimbaugh is terrible. I have reached out before and they still haven’t fixed it. I spend more time trying to get the podcast to play then actually listening to it. I’ll press play, it automatically stops. I have to do this 5-10 times before it will continue playing. It’s like trying to get a lawnmower to start after it’s been up for winter. Just today, something new, the audio stops playing in the middle of listening but the seconds are still counting on the player. It stinks cause I subscribe to rush each month. Would love to listen to you buddy... just can’t cause your app doesn’t work. I have heard him say on the radio that If you are having trouble with the podcast and listening to it, then it’s probably a problem on your end(the user/listener). Not buying that... Please fix 😬😬😬

Giant step backward

I have listened to Rush brag about how great his new app etc and I cant help but wish I never even updated. I use RushLimbaugh to listen to the show audio during my commute, and with the new app this process was made more difficult as I now have to scroll around to find the audio which is buried under a bunch of videos and random sound bites. Also with this update, I lost the functionality to fast forward or rewind using my car audio controls. Using the slider in RushLimbaugh never works, and is not suggested while driving. Sometimes I open RushLimbaugh to only discover that the latest audio file is days old and have to reboot RushLimbaugh to get the latest. Finally, today I can’t get past the loading screen to even listen to the show. And let’s not forget the first few days RushLimbaugh was out where they told me my phone didn’t have cell enabled as they defaulted the setting to off and you had to randomly dig through RushLimbaugh to toggle cell data on, with no instruction pointing you there. If I wanted to deactivate cellular for RushLimbaugh, I would do it through the phone settings, not this broken app! Bring back the old app!

App needs serious improvements

Just trying to get to the latest show is a chore, clicking or scrolling past all the snippets I don't need or want to listen to. Audio podcasts should be the priority. No iPod or Bluetooth controls means I can't control RushLimbaugh and audio at all when the phone is locked or from my connected Bluetooth device. RushLimbaugh consistently loses its place, requiring you to start from the beginning or try to scrub through to where you were. There is no speed control for playback so you are forced to listen to the entire show in actual time. These are all basic features of mediocre podcast apps, the level of which this doesn't even rise to. I'm not planning to renew my subscription unless some of these features are implemented.

The developer obviously thinks RushLimbaugh is eye candy with all the graphics and flash. I don't want or need the video. Make that a separate app or just allow me to subscribe to the podcast content so I can playback via the native podcast app. RushLimbaugh is borderline garbage and turning off Rush listeners/subscribers.

Disappointing from 25-yr. Ditto Head

Rush, I love you and love your show. I’ve been listening since 1993. I, too, am an Apple guy and an iPhone guy. This new app is bitterly disappointing; I can’t sugar coat it. You, too should be disappointed.
I echo all of the laundry-list technical company jaunts you have been hearing. RushLimbaugh makes it difficult and frustrating to simply listen to the show, which is all I really care about and why I am a Rush 24/7 subscriber. Please figure it out and fix RushLimbaugh . It is not up to your high standard at all. Please make it so I can DOWNLOAD the show; that is what truly constitutes a PODCAST. Streaming your show while tethered to your website (requiring internet access) is NOT a podcast. That is called streaming. Please don’t insult our intelligence by referring to this frustrating procedure as a “podcast” because you know better. BTW, as of today on my iPhone 6+ with iOS 12.1.5 installed, I am UNABLE to open RushLimbaugh . Same on my iPad mini. Tried deleting RushLimbaugh and now it won’t re-install. Please get it together, Rush. I’m embarrassed for you.

OK - This is Great!

You guys got it right this time. We’ve been waiting patiently for the enhanced audio player with the ability to skip back/forward 15 sec (though who wants to skip forward on this show?).

Digging the podcast feature. I’ve never been able to use podcasts as I listen to the first half of today’s show on my way home from work and the other half on my way to work the next morning. I use a company laptop and they won’t allow us to install iTunes. In the past — no iTunes, no podcasts. Now we can download them directly from RushLimbaugh .

I primarily use the streaming feature. I enjoy the over-the-air format with the bumper music and the little gems Rush slips in while cutting to obscene profit breaks. Your “Rush 24/7” membership cuts out the ads and whittles each hour down to a tidy 38:50 minutes. The podcasts save you an additional two minutes per hour by cutting out pretty much all of the bumper music. But again, Rush sometimes slips in some doozies while that bumper music is playing and frankly, I enjoy the selection.

Not sure whether I can attribute this to the updated app or iOS 11.4, but I was having serious compatibility issues with the previous version of RushLimbaugh and the audio system in my car. Those issues seem to be resolved.

Thank you. Great job!

Not a fan of the new app

I like the old app as it was easier to navigate and find what I am looking for unlike the new app. To me, the new Rush 24/7 app is a very poor app. I like the old Rush 24/7 app so much more because it is very user-friendly. The menu was easy to understand and I could always find what I needed. Either make the new app easier to navigate like the old one, or bring back the old one back!

I instead use the podcast app that came with my iPod for the Rush Limbaugh podcasts. I get hours 1, 2, & 3 and the morning update with no hassle like people get with the new 24/7 Rush Limbaugh app. I don’t like how the new app plays the podcasts. I listen to the podcasts when I go to bed and don’t like the screen lit up while it is playing. If I turn off the screen, then the podcast stops playing. I don’t get that hassle with the iPod podcast app. At least I can turn off the display, hook up my headphones, and play hours 1, 2, & 3 in the dark as I go to sleep listening to the podcasts play. So much better than hassling with the new Rush 24/7 app!

Needs CarPlay—UPDATE

Update: CarPlay has been introduced and my star rating has been updated from three to five stars

The unfortunate thing about RushLimbaugh is that if you use CarPlay, RushLimbaugh does all kinds of hokey things while your iPhone is connected. Since it is not CarPlay enabled, you have to rely on RushLimbaugh itself on the phone to play the audio and all kinds of goofy things can happen. For example, in one car (‘19 Camry) adjusting the volume in the car causes the native music app to take over. In another vehicle, receiving a phone call drops the show altogether and you have to scramble to find where you left off. I was soooooo hoping that Rush’s announcement today about RushLimbaugh would mean they made it CarPlay compatible, but alas, no, dear reader, they made an update for Apple TV. Sigh.

Took a good app and made it Obama Care.

Only reason I gave a two and not a one star, I like the show. I listen between teaching classes, and now it’s FOBAR. RushLimbaugh restarts every time I try to go back and continue where I paused the episode. Can’t fast forward worth $#+). Why can’t next hour start after finishing previous hour.(at least prompt you to start next hour and not have to exit to start next hour) I might dump RushLimbaugh and go with third party now. Putting the audio towards the bottom was an example of poor planning and lack of research. Promote RushLimbaugh if you decide, but really made it hard to justify paying for use. I use this as a case study in my class now, “proper planning and testing before implementation.” You disappointed me. Special Note: High light the hour once it has been listened to, for user reference.

I want this to be good but it is not.

I feel bad giving this such a bad review but nothing else is reasonable. I hoped the major overhaul would fix it but while it certainly is a very good looking app now, the functionality is awful. The main use of RushLimbaugh is to listen to the show while it isn’t live, and the media player is the worst. I can scrub forward reliably but not precisely, but there is no way at all to scrub backward while listening to the show. It is unlikely to remember my place if I pause the show for awhile, and if I miss a few seconds or want to hear something again or find my place, there are no controls for skipping forward or backward a few seconds (and again skipping backward doesn’t work at all).

The show has by far the best content, but I guess I’m back to going to he Podcast section of the website in Safari on iOS, or when I can downloading the podcast and putting it in iTunes as an audiobook. Then I can skip forward, backward, and even adjust playback speed.

Love the content but the app still needs work

The iPad app still is a frustrating experience if you use it on landscape mode. For some inane reason it only works properly if you hold your device in portrait mode. This can be quite annoying. Also many times if you try to play audio bites you get what the developer probably thinks is a clever message saying “I’m 99% sure something went wrong”. This is a takeaway from one of Rushes sayings. It may be cute but what the heck is the issue and why do we keep seeing that message? The devs need to actually debug RushLimbaugh on the iPad a little more. They’ve had years to get it right and it should be much better by now. But I still love Rush do his app will always be 4 stars even if it didn’t work at all because Rush is one of the lone voices trying to keep this country great. 🙂

Update: New Problem

8/29 Update: New Problem. In just the last couple days, I can’t download any hours of the show. I tap the download button and it does nothing. If I hit play to stream it, I get the spinning circle but nothing ever plays. I tried deleting RushLimbaugh and reloading it. Same trouble. I have a fully up to date iPhone X.

I have absolutely loved RushLimbaugh to date. However, just in the last day or two...I will download all three hours, but all three hours are the same content. It appears that which ever hour was downloaded first that day is the hour that keeps repeating. If I delete all downloaded hours and then download only one at a time, deleting after I’m finished, then it seems to work.

Needs Reliability Improvements

RushLimbaugh frequently freezes and loses track of where I was in a podcast if I’m driving through an area with a weak cell signal and buffering is required, or if I get a phone call. This is highly annoying when driving down the road, and the scrolling bar generally doesn’t work which is even more frustrating when I’m trying to find where I left off. Often times the newest show audio episodes don’t show up right away in the list, there’ll only be ones that are 3 days old or so until I close and reopen RushLimbaugh a few times. Also, 15 second replay/forward buttons would be a great addition. Please fix these issues and my review of RushLimbaugh will be changed to 5 stars.

By

Love Rush but app remains problematic

Thought I’d check in to see if I was the lone wolf continuing to have issues with RushLimbaugh and evidently not much has changed. It remains clear RushLimbaugh isn’t up to the same standard of quality as the show. Same issues as others have experienced - often doesn’t want to start downloaded audio. Does seem to need an internet connection to play downloaded audio. Won’t continue to the next hour once the current hour completes. If interupted by say a phone call, it will rarely restart. Nowhere near the playback functionality, robustness and consistency of operation as Apple’s Podcasts or Audible or GoodReader or probably just about anything else out there. We’ve emailed back and forth a while ago, but again RushLimbaugh does NOT perform like the aformentioned apps. My expectation for something with Rush’s name on it is best in class. RushLimbaugh remains last in class.

Interface is terrible

After hearing what a state of the art RushLimbaugh would be I became a 24/7 member. I’ve been in contact with tech support for weeks. When I went to the podcast screen I expected a list I could download (just like the other podcasts I am subscribed to ) but there’s no list. The little box comes up....I’m 99.7% sure something just went wrong. Yep so am I!!! Where’s the list? After screen shots, phone type, membership info etc. I still haven’t a clue. What’s the point? Tech pointed me to another Rush site where I have an entirely different page with “gold buttons “. Oh there’s the podcasts. Why these two platforms aren’t combined is beyond me seeing how they claim this is a state of the art app.
It’s also frustrating to listen to show. While listening to music I like to go to another app, read email, and the program won’t play in the background. Also noticed that the hour one, two and three aren’t available as each hour finishes. Come on why does it take so long to edit the tape?
I trust El Rushbo will get this fixed.

By

Almost There

Honestly the new App is very nice and thank God they fixed the the annoying WiFi issue (was waiting for this update to see if it fixed it). That one issue alone would have knocked 2 stars off my review. There are a lot of really good things about RushLimbaugh and I like all of the features.

Navigation could be slightly better but the real reason this is not 5 stars is because of the audio player controls. Not to beat a dead horse here but you REALLY need rewind and fast forward 15 sec (or whatever) I think that should be a default feature for every audio/video player period.

Again, nice app, I use it every day but the audio/video controls need some improvement.

By

Overrated for what it is

I’m a 24/7 subscriber that I primarily use for the podcasts because it’s impossible to find anything on the website with its silly iPhone-looking navigation menu. That hasn’t improved and RushLimbaugh hasn’t helped either. The one thing most podcast listeners want is the ability to control the rate of playback to maximize our time. And the fact that Rush speaks slowly makes this feature a must.
I can’t find the daily news stories he refers to in RushLimbaugh although they’re somewhere on the website if you look hard enough. Maybe they’re in RushLimbaugh if you hunt hard enough but you shouldn’t need to.
And finally, not all of us have the time to watch videos all day so the ability to read stories and bypass the videos quickly would be appreciated. But mostly I’d settle for a speed control, but tbh I don’t know if it would drag me away from Downcast or not. The lack thereof certain doesn’t help.

Kelly L. O'Brien   3 years ago

I think I have the free version, as it seems to not have all the bells and whistles. The problem I seem to be having is that the app appears to crash, while I am watching the "Latest Dittocam" videos. Seems like it generally happens at, what I believe to be, the last video, but it also does this randomly, on occasion. After it crashes, if I exit the app, the phone acts like it has a momentary minor restart, or something. My Phone is a Samsung Galaxy, with Android OS.
