You actually can’t ever check on your flight or manage it or check in because it immediately flips over the entry page and access if you never inputted anything because you actually didn’t get a chance. Many people have commented on how buggy JapanAirlines is, but JL doesn’t seem to care.
Online check-in procedure seems to be buggy. Check-in status says I am checked-in, but the system is unable to generate a barcode for my phone. Also, I have a JAL Mileage Bank account but because I didn’t book with a JMB number, I can’t retrieve my booking details unless I log out of JapanAirlines . The system needs an upgrade and some process optimizations.
I have made several complaints and suggestions with Tech Support regarding JapanAirlines since last year and, so far, nothing has improved. It is very frustrating to navigate JapanAirlines on an iPhone. With regards to services, JAL used to be on top compared with other airlines. But now ANA has taken over that title. Unless an improvement is made, this could be my last booking with JAL.
I’m in the US and purchased a domestic ticket. JapanAirlines has my departure and arrival dates wrong . The US 800 number works but the representative was not able to help me . Said I needed to call Japan direct . I don’t have international cell service. She also suggest that I delete JapanAirlines and start over , which I did but still having the same issue. Last week I was locked out all day from JapanAirlines as well
This has to be the worst airline app I’ve ever had. I’ve booked a ticket, admittedly not on their app, I have a locator number and my E-ticket number. I am a JAL mileage bank member. But according to JapanAirlines they can’t find my booking. However when I made a trial attempt to check in suddenly my booking did exist although JapanAirlines transfers you to their website for check in. Checked JapanAirlines a day later and I still don’t exist! It’s early days as I’ve only recently downloaded it but if it continues to work like this I shall probably get rid of it.
JapanAirlines lacks so many features, for example doesn’t show me details of my profile or let me edit. It has a huge logical error too, I’m from US but I can’t book flights from an Asian city to another Asian city. The cities are not just not available for me ? I have to log out to search those cities and book as guest. What’s the point of having a profile and account then ?
When I looked for your contact number it took me while to find it. Your subsidiary company Zipair has the same problem. Perhaps both of thr websites were built by the same company. There is no logical connects between and webpages. Also at the reviewing page before making payment there is not option for editing. One has to click the backward icon many times to get back to the personal information page if there are changes need to be made. Very very inconvenient.
I booked an international connect flight through JAL, but the airline changed one of the flights and I was no longer able to connect. Was trying to get the flight changed, but that part was just a web page embedded in the native app. Using their website directly is a better experience tbh. And somehow after I filled in my booking information the website errors out and I wasn’t able to change my flight at all.
JapanAirlines is an embarrassment to an otherwise tech savvy country. It seems the developers want to make it as difficult as possible for customers to book and manage flights. Traveling to Japan and want to book a domestic flight? That’ll take you five steps to figure out, and when you do, you’ll click on links that open in your internet browser. What’s the point of having an app if you can’t do things within JapanAirlines ??? Annoying.
Good luck trying to find any info about your booking in JapanAirlines. Live outside of Japan? Forget about it. They are not interested in helping you. Book on another site? You’ll never be able to connect your reservation to JapanAirlines. Need to manage travel documents? Be prepared to fully manage it yourself. I thought this was supposed to be a quality airline. They are light years behind the competition.
Often difficult to locate your scheduled flight—not consistent with most international airlines where you enter a 6 character alphanumeric confirmation number. Also, once you locate your flight, have never been able to upgrade seats similar to most international carriers services.
Knowing all the information needed to find my booking, including my flight number, date of travel and booking number, it took more than 20 tries entering my name, and information over and over trying to retrieve my booking. JapanAirlines kept saying that my information was incorrect. JapanAirlines asked for, my last name and my first name as well as the other details of the flight and booking number but, the problem arises when the booking is actually including the middle name as listed on the passport and JapanAirlines doesn’t ask for the middle name. I found that I had to include my middle name with my first name and no space in between in the box on JapanAirlines asking only for my first name. Finally, when I capitalize my first name and attach My middle name, also capitalized, with no space in between, I was finally able to retrieve my reservation.
I think JapanAirlines could be improved by adding a separate box for middle name, if the reservation was made with middle name as it’s listed on the Passport.
Maybe it's the language barrier, but the JAL app was the least intuitive airline app I've ever used. Example 1: You retrieve your reservation on most apps by entering your reservation number and name. JAL also requires you to enter departure date and flight number. To enter your flight number, you have to specify the airline (instead of just defaulting to JAL). But you have to enter it as "JL" (not JAL or JA). And my flight number is listed on various documents as 1, 01, 001, and 0001. Only the last entry works on JapanAirlines . In all, it took a dozen attempts before I learned the right way to enter the flight number. Example 2: There is an notification on JapanAirlines about: "Submission of Countermeasures to Prevent Recurrence in Response to an Administrative Warning". I can't even begin to parse this or several other statements on JapanAirlines .
I bought tickets for a trip later this fall and then signed up for the JMB mileage program. Then I downloaded the JAL app and tried to find my reservation. JapanAirlines just ran me in circles but never displayed any of my flights. Ultimately I discovered that it works if you are registered with JMB first and now I had sign out completely, sign in again without JMB and then the flights finally bowed up. It was frustrating as I received a message by email telling me that there had been a small scheduling change and I needed to accept it or risk cancellation. This added considerably to the stress of being told that there was no reservation at all under my name. There was no way to search, even with the confirmation number. Really a mess.
Unable to join the reward program to check on my flight status .
Too afraid to accidentally cancel the flight. The option of viewing the reservation is all in the same tab as change and cancellation .
Pls make different tabs for different things
Added my current location on JapanAirlines (overseas) and it would NOT let me book a domestic flight. I had to chance my location to Tokyo before finally being able to book a domestic flight. It seems like JAL won’t be happy if you purchase a domestic flight ticket but go elsewhere with the international flight. Oh well, found a workaround at least.
Was quite a complicated process. had to redo the application many times. even put in my credit card number twice, and even at the very end, after everything was confirmed, I still wasn’t getting a confirmation email to one of the emails
I just loaded the JL app on my phone
It has always been a process to get seating for one world carriers using other carriers mileage tickets on japan airlines for a portion of the trip.
I used JapanAirlines for the first time a few days ago to get the seating on the JL flights. it was very easy and pulled up the seating map for each flight allowing me to choose the available seat that was best for my needs.
Excellent Service, very kind and professional worker. I will definitely always loyal to Japan Airlines. Thank you for the great experience everytime I fly in Japan Airline
My first experience with JaL was in 2022. Imagine to
recover my lost mobile phone, after 2 months ? and I’m really amazed about it, truly Japan Airline is one of the best .
Will be traveling back home this coming December 08, looking forward for more surprises the JAL can offer.
