I don’t understand why they broke ithleteTrainRecoverPer . I paid $9 for it years ago and now they won’t let me use it unless I pay for it again. Scummy

I’ve had several finger sensors recently and they all broke in less than a two month. I feel scammed out of a couple hundred dollars.

I previously purchased the HRV finger measuring device and had access to ithleteTrainRecoverPer , which was free to download and use with the product I PURCHASED. Now I have to pay in order to use it? That’s some gangster **** to do, old school bait and switch method. I would have never bought this in accurate device in the first place if I had known I would get jacked for more money later. ithleteTrainRecoverPer is garbage anyway, you get differing readings even when some back-to-back. Find a better app and company bc ithlete is a fraud.

Works well until the very expensive finger sensor stops working.
Mine did after just 7 months. Absolutely no response from them after emailing them. No help. Don’t do it, useless!!

HRV is a great piece of data. Unfortunately the finger sensor is pure crap. It is very shotty and troubleshooting tips did not help. The microphone is on the privacy settings are correct. There is no limit on the volume yet the only time it seems to want to take a reading is when my finger is removed. If the developers can help me I will change my rating. I will no be recommending ithleteTrainRecoverPer to my athletes and patients until they do.

I do not have any ithlete sensors. I ordered an HRV finger sensor close to two weeks prior to writing this. I did not receive an order confirmation email, so I submitted an order inquiry message through the company’s website a a few days ago. I have not received a response for that yet. As of now HRV Fit Ltd. has taken my money with nothing to show for it.

Was using with no issues. Nothing changed on my side. Starting getting “Bluetooth” turned off when Bluetooth was on and other HRV apps working perfectly.

I’ve been using a couple different apps over the last 2 months to measure HRV. As a coach I wanted to try this one out as well. After about 10 tries to take a measurement I gave up. Each time I got an error message saying the measurement stopped early, check the sensor. Have had zero problems with the other apps.

When I buy an expensive measurement product, I expect to be able to use it without any additional charges. Very disappointing that to achieve functionality, more money must be spent. Had I known this, I would not have purchased from this company.

The latest update locked me out. I paid $9.99 to purchase this in 2014. I can no longer access any of my historical data nor can I generate any new data
Customer service has been unhelpful

Every time I use this, I need to make multiple attempts to get ithleteTrainRecoverPer to accurately track my pulse for 55 seconds. It always stops me at least once and makes me start over due to lost connection between my HR monitor and ithleteTrainRecoverPer . It’s really frustrating, because it’s a great concept, but it is difficult to do every day because it turns into a whole process with several attempts each time I do it.

This is a great concept IF ithleteTrainRecoverPer were able to detect pulse for a solid 55 seconds. More than 70% of the time it loses connection to the thing measuring pulse before the time is up, and the whole process takes on average about 5 tries with varying levels of success. This is pretty consistent throughout different measuring tools - I’ve used their ECG receiver, finger sensor, HR monitor, and a Under Armour HR monitor. Actually, the tool that worked the most often was the UA HR monitor, but still around 3 tries every time to get it to work. I wouldn’t recommend any of the other tools they sell.

Bought both finger and chest sensors, neither works well enough. Takes 20 minutes to detect a pulse then kicks off halfway through a reading.

While many of my friends are getting sick or injured due to overtraining, ithleteTrainRecoverPer helps me make solid, science-based decisions on how hard to go on any given day. Paired with TrainingPeaks, it paints a crystal clear picture of both systemic and localized fatigue versus readiness. Big fan.

Update: Got it back to working... Key for me was NOT to have the H7 as a Bluetooth device ('My devices' in iPhone settings). For some reason iThlete now can always pick up the H7 when I have deliberately not paired it with my phone.
Previous review: Was somehow able to measure my HRV for first two days - then for last two days ithlete does not pick up my Polar H7 whatever I do (uninstall/reinstall, wet, clean, conduction gel). Other HRV apps read HR fine. Frustrating!

Easy to use , upload and analyze. I do wish it have more details in the reporting of the variability metrics but overall my go tracker

Use it every morning to check my HRV! I just wish there was a way to use it during a workout so that I could save the data and look at it after I work out

I have used this as well as 2 other HRV apps and this is by far the most useful one out there. The diary and other user entered daily metrics are VERY useful in letting you know why your HRV is going up or down. The other apps don't do this.

Like ithleteTrainRecoverPer ! A couple suggestions. On the testing directions, it didn’t specify taking test sitting or standing so I initially was supine in bed. Went to the website and found info. Secondly, I get several greens (ok to train hard) the day after a hard run. HR > 90% Max for 6 to 7 miles, not sure why? Still in the learning curve?

Love the comment section. I use this side by side to Ben Greenfields for comparison and he doesn't allow comments

Using heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate and recovery enablers, such as stress, diet, sleep, and more, ithlete delivers a truly personalised training recommendation that anyone from a recreational runner to an Olympic athlete can use.
The ithlete app is an app that uses heart rate variability to indicate your state of fatigue, recovery and readiness to train following a 1 minute morning measure, and it is not used during the actual exercise.
By using ithlete to monitor training stress you can adjust sessions according to your body’s current readiness to train, improve and perform.
Remove the need for guess work by using ithlete and base your training on an objective measure of fatigue and recovery.
Heart rate variability is a proven window into the body’s nervous system, going beyond a simple resting heart rate (RHR) measure.
Simply take a 1-minute measurement every morning and follow the colour coded training recommendation: train as normal, train light or take a rest day.
A 60 second measurement each morning will tell you how stressed, recovered and ready for training your body is.
Training is all about stress and recovery and a hard session will lower your HRV score.
Please also note that this HRV app is NOT a heart rate monitor app, which people use during exercise.
Getting the right balance between training and recovery is a challenge, even for experienced athletes.
Know when to train, how hard to train & when to rest in order to optimise health, fitness and athletic performance.
Users will need either an ithlete Finger Sensor OR a compatible analog or Bluetooth Smart HRM strap.
These are all available from Please see the website FAQs for a full list of compatible models and purchasing options.
You will reap the benefits in fitness and performance.
