Needs Improvement

I normally don’t write app reviews - but to say that this version is some extreme improvement over the other I am not so sure.

Breeze looks and feels like it was designed as an intern project. Many of the fields and UI/UX are very unlike what one would expect.

Also there is no support for Apple Pay or purchasing within Breeze - how can MARTA be so far behind every other app on Breeze Store?

This system isn’t going to get better until those at MARTA start holding themself to a higher standard (well I say higher but right now it feels like there is no standard).

Whoever downloaded Breeze before releasing it and reviewed it and stated “Yes - looks good” must not know anything about iOS application development, quality software engineering, or have any UI/UX experience. Many icons clip over themself, the load times are still very long, and if you were to ask me what time is a train arriving I couldn’t tell you.

Here’s to hoping when this app 3.0 comes out in 2033 (and we then have to make another account again) that we might get Apple Pay. At least then I’ll be able to complain about not having NFC support (coming in this app 4.0 in 2043 - new account needed of course).

i totally know a 4th grader who can write a better app this this steaming pile. little homie is going places. unlike the fools who made this crap. i counted and it literally takes 15 clicks to purchase a single ticket and use it to enter the train terminal. talk about poor design. dev is bad too -- app consistently crashes and won't display a current ticket if you travel outside of cell service signal which is often where subways find themselves, you know, keeping in mind the whole subterranean underground thing? i mean...this is almost funny just because it's so ironic that the friggin' subway app doesn't work if you happen to find yourself on...a subway. wow man, just wowzers. complete trash y'all. would rate zero stars if it were possible. worst transit app imaginable. an embarrassment in the industry. devs should be blacklisted and possibly prosecuted under an obscure law for flagrantly bad implementation. they should be forced to work for Twitter in the Elon Musk age. MARTA please hire me to write you a better app and make Atlanta a happier place. i'm ready and i'm cheap but not this cheap.

RUINED MY PHONE

I got Breeze to take the Marta train downtown for a concert and it messed my phone up!!! My phone was on but my screen was completely blacked out. At one point, I was aggressively tapping my phone just to get the screen to wake up. And when I did get the screen to wake up, it glitched the entire time. I had absolutely no access to my phone the entire night, I couldn’t even use my phone to get back on the train to go home. This has never happened before and this phone is brand new!!!!! The minute I deleted this retched app is when my phone had some semblance of normalcy. I’d give this negative stars if I could. And this manufacturer better hope my phone doesn’t have any prolonged damage after this stunt they pulled. I’ll buy a this app card for the rest of my life before I ever download this disgusting app again.

Breeze is pretty bad at the moment. It’s supposed to be a better function for those who use the Marta system. Prior to this new app every now and then I wouldn’t be able to buy a ticket because of technical issues through the old this app mobile app. However, since Breeze has gone live I have not been able to add anything to it. I have not been able to use Breeze and I am commuting daily on the Marta.

I have to make sure I have cash on me now so that I can load a this app card. It’s quite inconvenient and the original app no longer allows you to add anything to it either soo it’s just out of service. Someone should really take a look at Breeze and fix it because it’s inconvenient to it’s users at the moment and not as effective as it was supposed to be.

Have multiple guests or children in your group? This app fails hard at this scenario.

Breeze introduces the concept of ids for uniqueness in such an obstructive manner it is unusable.

You need to add as many ids as you want to have for unique riders - none of this is well documented. To add an I’d you have to have a Marta card for them (isn’t the point of Breeze to not have a physical Marta card?!?!??) or you have to have a unique payment form per I’d to authenticate.

Well I could add a couple with each on a different card from my Apple wallet. When you activate a ticket you need to assign it to each separate “Id” and once you do that you STILL can’t make it work at the turnstile.

The old app let you activate as many tickets as you liked and you could swap through them with the flick of your thumb and Sheppard your party through the turnstiles.

This version of Breeze fails so badly at this scenario which can’t be uncommon. Who decided this arbitrary identity scheme was a good idea - you either have a ticket for each person or you don’t why would it ever matter in any way that would force an average family to suffer through this experience. Go back to the old app or fix this.

Disappointed and Frustrated

Breeze is more of a bad redesign than an actual improvement. I’m yet to discovered any cool new features, and if anything, it's a step backward, since we now have to wait a whole 60 seconds for a ticket to load.

What is very disappointing is the total lack of integration with Apple Pay or Apple Wallet. Atlanta is a massive city, and if you want to compete with other cities in the US, you gotta give us these options too! I was in Chicago recently and it was so useful to have the Ventura card on the wallet app. It made the whole process so much easier.

Truth to be told we just need to be apple to add card in the Apple Wallet, like in Chicago and New York. I'm crossing my fingers that someone will actually listen to this feedback and make some much-needed changes in the near future.

If I could give it ZERO stars, I would!

Buyer beware! Parents beware! I thought I would go "high tech" and purchase a this app card through Breeze in preparation for a fun weekend in the A with my child. Wrong move! I purchased two tickets and activated both without issue. The issue arose upon arrival at the MARTA station when I used the first ticket to scan my child through, then attempted to use the second ticket and hit a brick wall. Even though I clearly had two tickets, a 3 minute hold was activated, which resulted in my increasingly panicked child being stuck separated from me. Luckily, a few fellow MARTA riders saw the unfortunate situation and scanned me through on their pass. Southern hospitality FTW! Do better, MARTA! This is unacceptable. 🤬

Amateur hour

This is a bad app. It’s bad in that way you don’t see in apps much anymore. You’ll encounter UI that’s clearly a web page awkwardly attempting to pass as a native app. Paying for a ticket requires manually typing in all your credit card info, even if you already have it stored in Apple Wallet.

Modern transit systems support the Wallet app, which allows using your iPhone as a transit pass without having to download any other app, much less a badly-designed and badly-engineered app like this one.

The fact that MARTA spent money developing a bad app, when a far better alternative already exists, is unfortunately par for the course for Atlanta’s transit system. Stuck in the past.

My round trip tickets disappear after using it one way

I was excited to use Breeze but I have been running into issues where my ticket disappears. If I buy a round trip and activate it for the day once I’m back on the bus for the evening, the ticket is completely gone forcing me to buy a one way ticket. I’ve lost money using Breeze . I’ve tried reaching out to support through Breeze but that is also another problem. You don’t even get a confirmation email that the support message went though and I sent three no response back yet after a whole week. I would appreciate a refund.

Terrible UI experience and confusing name

The UI is absolutely the worst from a usability prospective. First some text overflows onto the buttons at the bottom of Breeze and the fields do not support any type of iCloud Keychain password storage. The password recovery flow page is the absolute worst. It also doesn’t integrate with neither of the other Marta accounts and not even the previous version of Breeze . How many more accounts do you need before you implement an SSO system? Also why naming Breeze only this app Mobile? Add Marta to the name so that people can find it when searching for Marta on Breeze Store!

Very frustrating

I’m not one to write app reviews, but I’ve been very disappointed trying to use Breeze. I commute daily with Marta and was hoping this would be an improvement given the advertisements throughout the trains. Not integrating with Apple Pay is somewhat annoying, but the biggest complaint I have is with the QR scanner being incredibly unreliable. It’s happened multiple times where I’ve missed my train because of fighting with the UI and trying to guess with QR scanner actually works at the station.

Constantly malfunctions

This is such a downgrade from token transit (bus rider here). It constantly steals tickets, at first I thought I was remembering incorrectly but it would happen so often I decided to monitor it- and sure enough I had 2 tickets this morning and when I opened Breeze this afternoon I had none. Every ticket is $5 and this has happened at least 5 times to me. Such a scam. Token transit wasn’t perfect but at least it didn’t straight up steal from me. I contacted support with no response.

I’ve been trying to purchase a 2 days pass on Breeze for days now. Every time I put my card information in a big red X pops up on the screen and they tell me there’s been an error and to try again. I’ve checked over my information a dozen times it’s always put in correctly & have even refreshed Breeze & exited out yet I’m still unable to purchase a ticket. Worst app I’ve ever downloaded it literally holds no value.

It’s a bad app and it should feel bad.

Yeah, the UI is absolutely atrocious. And sure, it lacks some basic functionality that would be useful for a commuting app like train status and such. And OK, it feels like it was coded by a fourth grader.

But. There is literally no reason to use Breeze - assuming it works - over getting a card if you’re a regular rider. Why? Getting and reloading an actual this app card gets you discounted fares. Using and reloading Breeze - assuming it works - gets you. Nothing. You get nothing.

Randomly losing tickets

I’ve never had the urge to write an app review in my life but I gotta say Breeze will randomly make you lose tickets especially if you buy them in bundles. Additionally, whenever that happens you owe a $5 fee even though you bought the ticket. To say nothing of the pointless map causing some lag and 60 second timer to use tickets, Breeze has no right being the main or only way to buy tickets on some routes.

Hi, if you are an express bus user like myself and my gf they might just leave you with random negative balances! And actually force you to pay in order to get a ticket :) basically theft and a huge downgrade to prior option of token transit. If you can’t make a proper app don’t try. I can’t believe you make people deal with this crap and then deal with your support in an attempt to get it fixed. A literal joke please do all of atl a favor and delete Breeze off market place.

Doesn’t Work with Visa Debit Cards

I have a two different Visa debit cards that I tried to use. This new this app mobile doesn’t take either of them. It fails and i get a big red x on the screen when it attempts to process it. I deleted Breeze and re-installed and still didn’t work. It ONLY worked when i used an American Express card. Not sure if Breeze only works with credit cards but if you use a VISA DEBIT CARD beware. it WON’T WORK. Breeze is useless if it doesn’t accept debit cards.

App doesn’t work at a basic level: payment. I entered credit card information and added $$ that is now stuck there because the gates denied access. Tried at two stations. I don’t understand why MARTA can’t use Apple Pay like NYC subway’s easy-to-use tap-payment system. Not surprised: been using MARTA off and on for 21 years (more off than on these days) and nothing much has improved, including transfer wait times.

I purchased 2 tickets this morning @ 5am. I have not used either. I’m leaving work at 7pm and I have no tickets to catch the bus home. Breeze is a piece of garbage. They robbed me. I’m homeless and I just started a job just trying to make it. And to be robbed of something I don’t have hurts. Not to mention I have to put a week in the hole. Maaaaan! I am super frustrated and stranded due to this freaking app. I’m so upset I’m crying because I’m stuck and I have no one. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

App bug is now spending unused tickets

On one hand, Breeze makes traveling on MARTA 10x quicker than managing the this app card. On the other hand, it’s eating my tickets which did not occur beforehand.

There seems to be a bug when if you scan your active ticket (which is good for 3 hours) and have another unused ticket saved. Unfortunately, when rescanning the used ticket, unused tickets are spent instead meaning you now have two active tickets at the same time. This has happened multiple times and the only way around it is to only purchase 1 ticket at a time. This is clearly a bug because Breeze normally asks you to confirm when activating a ticket

Do not purchase more than one ticket

I purchased 3 tickets yesterday to use for me and my family members for the Falcons game. You can only use Breeze once to scan the barcode for one ticket. After attempting to scan the other ticket barcodes they would not work. The Marta employee on site admitted that this is a known issue and another employee used his card to scan my other family member and myself in.
I read one of the reviewers had the same issue. Oh well, this would be great if you can actually scan the purchased tickets one right after the other and not have to wait for who knows how long before you can scan the rest of tickets.
I’m sure Marta could pay the right company to resolve this issue. Please fix the problem.

Somehow actually worse

The original this app Mobile app for Marta is a sad joke. But this one is somehow actually worse. Where is Apple Pay support? Why do I need to make an account at all? Why do these text fields in Breeze look like a really old website?

If Breeze isn’t going to support Apple Pay, at least use Apple’s standard iOS text fields so you can use Autofill for passwords/credit cards etc

There’s an intro/guide when you first launch Breeze that also is really amateurish. You hit Next and then you get to a page with too much text where Next is greyed out, and it’s unclear what you should do next other than tap on Skip at the bottom. Why skip? Why isn’t it done?

Breeze is an embarrassment to Atlanta. A supposed tech forward city.

Reminds me of user interfaces from 1999, usability is not just subpar but abysmal. Payments wallet support is nearly non existent. Transferring tickets to another user is setup like a particularly complex maze that you can never get out of. Getting the QR codes to actually scan requires the patience of a zen monk. It is like Marta has deliberately ignored all the innovation of near field tech and deliberately chosen to go back a decade. Smaller public transit systems like the one in New Orleans do it much better.

Not Recognizing Apple Pay

When I tried to set this up with Apple Pay Breeze had me go through the steps to add a card to Apple Pay. Thought that was odd but went through the steps anyway only for Breeze to tell me I already have a card in my Apple wallet. I use Apple Pay daily with no issues ever. I think I’ll pass on Breeze. I can’t trust it to work IRL if it can’t even process a simple set up with Apple Pay. Hate to say it but this is so typical with anything related to MARTA. Always a problem. Either the bus scanners don’t work or their app is hit or miss.

Worse than before

Aside from the barcodes actually scanning now, everything else is somehow even worse. Breeze continually shuts down, restarts, or logs you out. It’s very inconsistent and sometimes the barcodes will come up invalid even when I just purchased a ticket. There is no accessibility through Apple wallet and the overall in-app experience is super disappointing. I was expecting an improvement and it feels like I got the opposite.

Dude - MARTA…

this app Mobile OG was a great app because it was a just a virtual this app card. Scanning is cool here but this whole Map & Route planning is horrible. Why would you even incorporate this when people are going to use Apple Maps/Google maps?

If you throw out an update - please - take this out and put all your money into UI. It’s “this app Mobile” not MARTA-All-In-One-Wonder.

Definitely an improvement from the last app, but why is there not a map of the marta stops within Breeze, seems like a very obvious/easy functionality to add a map (doesn’t have to be dynamic)

When app is first opened it takes 20-30 seconds to show up. This is too slow if I am in a hurry to pull up ticket to get out of station. Seems like some backend connection that slows Breeze down. Please fix it.

I love the idea of Breeze because I do not carry exact change all the time. However, Breeze needs more updates because ever since it updated, I was only able to use it once. The scan has issues and the bus driver tells me they check it in the morning and it works, but the scanner on the bus has a hard time scanning my app.

While I understand Breeze isn’t perfect at all but for just needing it to ride the bus/transit it’s perfect. You can put money on instantly and save the card if you wish. Breeze is simply designed and easy to understand nothing ridiculous. And you can use it always every bus/station has one . And it’s also amazing because I lose my card almost habitually and most times have my phone. The only way to improve is if we could use Apple Watches honestly or maybe if they worked on the maps portion lagging so much. But even then that’s understandable. It’s a very easy convenient app and it’s Marta so at some point you have to bffr

Pretty good app. Let’s me load up money and automatically deducts the right amount when I scan it. Pretty perfect.

I just wish I could take a physical card I get from my work and transfer its balance to Breeze .

It Works!

I understand some of the negative reviews complaint about the UI, which can definitely use some improvement. However, Breeze works. Very easy to add funds to the card (recommend creating an account online first to store your payment information) and purchase your fare. My only complaint is you can’t store multiple tickets on one phone. What if you have friends visiting from out of town or traveling with children? This is something that should be quickly corrected and I would happily give it 5 stars. Give MARTA credit where it’s due, they are headed in the right direction here.

It is as good as its look. Sometimes, it is glitchy, the barcode doesn’t scan, for example. Ways to resolve: refresh Breeze or choose a scanner that actually works. However, it is inconvenient to use both the MARTA and Breeze to actually navigate.

Huge Improvement!

I’ve been using the this app Mobile 2 app for the last 2 weeks or so and it’s been a huge upgrade to my daily commute! I love that I can check/update my balance when on the go without having to worry about getting to the station early to use the fare machines. I also love that I can link it to my this app card and use the RFID scanners. My customer experience is so much more efficient and happier!

I would like to see a small video on this description added to the pictures kind a f showing people how to use it for the first time or a reminder for returning customers so the flow can be easier on event days like Games, Concerts, etc to help speed along the line for those who need a quick tutorial. I think that would be a nice add and no excuse for standing at the gate waiting to figure out what to do next. There’s not always someone from Marta available on the platform.

I’m not sure why others have rated Breeze so low. I was easily able to create an account, add funds and set up Face ID. It’s not the best app in the world, but far from the worst. It does the job.
