Not too many Asians on the dating section and the distance option doesn’t do anything. 97% of the people who actually pop up are 1500+ miles from me even though in my settings limited it to 1-55 miles from me. There was even one time it said someone was 1 mile from me and then once we matched it swapped to 2500 bc he lives in New York while I’m in Cali????

I like the idea of Yuzu but whats the point of being able to state your gender if you aren’t cis, but then you have to choose if you get shown as only a “man” or “woman” to people 😔 Devs please fix this so I can amend my rating or something, like I know Yuzu can playfully lean into our shared common stereotypes but not being inclusive doesn’t need to be one of them 🥲

App has an option to join big group chats for various topics. Pretty cool, but not my thing. I couldn’t find an option to disable “A group chat has high activity right now” notifications, so I had to just disable everything instead. Now I can’t see if someone chats me. Ah well, in that case I just won’t use Yuzu nearly as much.

Sure iPhone SE is not a model a lot of people use, but having Yuzu not made for all iPhone is just bad design. I can’t even go past the initial stages because the continue button is blocked by the selection whether I wanna make friends or make friends + date. Can’t rate an app high when I cannot even test the basic functionality of it 🤷

After you select social it won’t let you continue. The continue button is stuck over socials/dating. No you cannot scroll down or turn the screen. In other words, I have never seen a more broken app. Elementary students coding simplistic python games never fail to include a “start/continue” button. I am simultaneously baffled and impressed by the strange hubris that allows one to put up an app that cannot be actually accessed. Perhaps this is simply a social experiment to examine the sociology of those in the Asian community. To see how many times we will try at something before giving it up. Nothing else can explain why a company would pay for ads and then close the door to any possible recuperense. Honestly, I am astounded.

You can like and swipe all you want but you won’t be able to connect with them in any capacity. The screen that has the “connections” is literally BLANK and stays that way. Is there an update I’m missing???

Ugh. I was really hopeful but left disappointed.

I went back on Yuzu downloaded it again when to make a account but when I tried to it keeps giving me the error “phone login is currently unavailable”. i tried contacting support three times yet I have no response I got a automated email regarding to use the mobile site to login in but theres no way to find that or exists

The preference settings for social don’t allow you to filter for gender, so you have a lot of guys using the social feature for dating. This clogs of Yuzu so instead of getting a chance to connect with potential girlfriends, you end up getting unwanted flirty messages. Also, why is the minimum radius 20 miles?? How is this supposed to help me make friends if the closest person is two cities over? This might make sense if a driving region but is useless in the northeast. Tried redownloading a few times but always deleted it within a day.

Thought it would be cool but after a week of having it literally no one added back, there’s loads of different cultured people on Yuzu not just Asians but if your not asain no one will add back. So if your not asain and thinking of getting Yuzu , keep this in mind.

I cannot get into Yuzu since it keeps saying “We are not able to process your registration at this time. Please try again later.” I’ve tried to register multiple times over the course of a week. None of them have worked. I will review again or delete this once this is solved.

I’m still having problems receiving my sms login. So I can’t even log in w/phone number again after first time signing out! (I get “Sms login currently unavailable”)The notification option is not even in my this app app settings (ios 17.6.1) so I cant check to see if notifications were disabled. Please create a way to at least turn notifications on. I would like to access the account I opened. A settings option in app before sign in or at least a way to log in into a website would be nice too but the website is basically a link to Yuzu .

I was excited for this app because I’m Asian and I wanted to meet people that’s similar to my culture and other Asians as well but 85-90% of the people I see on there are non-Asians. I also see a lot of inappropriate photos of people on there. This is the only app i can think of that’s trying to solve the issue with creating app just for Asians so it’s sad that it’s not working. I haven’t had much success of users liking me back. Probably due to the fact that most of them left already. I hope they make it easier to find other Asians.

I wanted to hopefully find more friends and new ppl to meet in the Asian community in my city but most everyone I’ve seen on here are not Asian. Even if you set your preferences to seeing profiles where the person designates their roots, such as Korean/Chinese/Taiwanese or whichever Asian country or ethnicity, Yuzu doesn’t filter out anyone whose roots is the US so it’s almost all Americans. Yuzu is a bit useless claiming it’s for the Asian community when the filters/preferences don’t work and it’s mostly non-Asian ppl shown.

It’s a great idea, but the location issues are a joke. I set my locations to be maximum 20 miles within <5 year age gap and Yuzu would often recommend me people 300 miles away outside my age gap. I already updated to the latest version, but the problem persists. Can Yuzu developers please show people only within my parameters and preferences?

Also community wise, people also rarely reply back, but that is outside Yuzu developer’s control.

I really like the idea and concept but I’m not a fan of the fact that it’s parent company is match group. Match group is the parent company of Tinder, and all the other dating apps that I presume is for profit and not for people finding a genuine connection I.e. putting certain eligible matches behind the pay wall. I think that will spill over in Yuzu as well, so I deleted it.

I’ve noticed every time I ask for a persons socials while texting them on Yuzu. I’ve noticed it kinda bans or hides the message or just never goes through so the other person won’t ever see it… I’m pretty sure this is intentional from the developers…. If it is I’m confused why? Also if it isn’t then you guys have to fix it :/ overall Yuzu has potential and to add more about my situation if it is intentional I’m not breaking any rules just for asking for their instagram..? I’m also sure I’m not the only individual doing it anyways.. fix it..

I’m happy that there is an app that is built for the Asian American community, last app that I can remember is East Meet East before it became a camcorder site. However, it is absolutely bonkers that all the users I am seeing on this are hundreds of miles away! Hopefully it will get better when Yuzu gets more users but it’s ridiculous that even when my preferences are set at 20-30 miles I will get people 1400 miles away!!!

I like how Yuzu looks, and I think the Asian focus is a nice touch.
HOWEVER, the sign in function is broken. I was suddenly signed out and I could not sign back in. The only option to sign in was with my phone number and the SMS one time password could not be verified. I am currently locked out of my account. If there is a server wide issue, I think this app management should send an email to all registered users.
It’s still the first week of their launch, so I’m gonna refrain from giving them a 1 star.

I know that this app can’t prohibit other races/people from Yuzu which is fine, but as an Asian man currently looking for other Asian friends and possibly an Asian women to date it’s even harder than on other dating apps. My biggest problem is that i can’t find anyone in my area even though I live in a big city it always says the people are 250 miles away. I love the idea and the people I’ve met are great… I don’t think I’ll continue to use Yuzu

I love that the first thing you’re asked is if you’re wanting to date or not. For those just trying to make connections and NOT date, this is great. But then you get into Yuzu and it’s the typical dating swipe left / swipe right. This was a huge turn off for me. This is the established method for dating, I think if you’re trying to do something for friends it will have to be something totally different. Maybe just a list of people that you can see and connect / message? The swipe factor is a huge no no for me.

Also the groups seem to be national which is pretty useless for building community. There should be an ability to create your own local groups, for example me making a group in Houston

I heard about Yuzu and wanted to try it since so many of these similar Apps are pretty much the same. Finally I get waved at after how long but in order to see who it is I have to pay. I understand that companies need to make money; just wish they were more upfront about it. I have not received messages yet but I’m dreading when I finally do send or get a message I need to pay to even do that.

Filters don’t work on Yuzu. I took the social version and filtered out men, but still got a lot of men in the feed. I also placed a distance restriction for 30 miles yet I still got people who were 150 miles away from me.

also, in my area, majority users were like men they were basically no girls. Maybe 3 girls per every 10 men. so I guess maybe don’t install this if you’re not in a very high population Asian city??

Me and my friends all downloaded Yuzu. But none of us can get past the account creation. It says my phone number is invalid, any other number is invalid. My friends phone number worked but when she created the account, it loaded forever and never made the account. It’s just not letting any of us do it. I don’t know what’s wrong with Yuzu lol.

Other people have mentioned this already, but there should be a filter to block out people who aren't actually Asian. Kinda weird to have an app built around Asian community-building and then have other people in it. Also, I frequently have issues where pictures just stop loading, so it's just a bunch of white squares mixed with prompts.

The dating/social section for matching up ain’t bad. It’s pretty much like tinder for Asians but there’s a community chat, and it’s overran by gen Z’s, I ain’t gonna lie there’s a lot of lames that have mob mentality and just usually will ostracize you for messing around. Bunch of softies.

Yuzu is great as a concept: an app targetted at minority groups to help foster community and relationships.

However, as many of the reviews will point out, it has a difficult time with geolocation and often gives you choices from thousands of miles away despite you explicitly stating you’re looking for “Social” or “Dating” within a 50 mile radius.

On top of this, you unlock DMs by waving at people. The issue is: if someone waves at you from a “Social” standpoint and you wave at them from a “Dating” standpoint, it becomes awkward.

The Groups tab is not active enough. There are also a bunch of old white dudes who’ve made profiles. I don’t know if Yuzu is a free-for-all but that’s how it seems at the moment.

I really like the idea of Yuzu and what it’s trying to do but they need to come up with a way to make sure only asian people are creating profiles because this is filed with lots of white and black people (and other non asian ethnic people but those are the vast majority) and if you’re trying to meet fellow asian people like Yuzu suggests you have to spam left swipe through them and more than half of them are asian fetish people which is honestly revolting…

Been playing with it for a while still and no updates have been made on the bugs for filtering through profiles. People from any distance, age, gender.

To the developers: PLEASE differentiate who is looking for just friends, and who is interested in dating. Do something like add colors to certain profiles to let everyone know who is looking for what.
I’m only looking for friends and I’m tired of getting profiles of people trying to look for more.

There are some bugs with messaging and it’s not really the safe space for the Asian community that it’s advertised to be.

It’s about 50% other people who are obsessed with Asian culture usually anime or K-pop which they say in their bio and interests.

I feel like Yuzu is pointless if the filters don’t work because it’s pretty much just Tinder or Hinge.

Honestly it could be better - location filtering could work better it’s pretty much nonexistent now recommending people 150 miles away, they should show you who you’ve liked in the past, menus seem desolate, and just doesn’t seem to be well thought out - hope it improves over time

The unlimited swiping is cool — it gets VERY boring after some time though, and there’s like a 000.1% of getting a match.

There’s a lot of non-Asians in Yuzu and people pretending to be Asian. It’s encouraging Americans to be a koreaboo pretty much.

Needs moderators in chat, people just talk about whatever they want pretty much.

They dropped a photo of a discord link in chat, and told the 13 year old to join it. It was stupid.

In the beginning Yuzu was great with the distance now it’s giving me people 100, 200 & 300 miles away. Sorry but I live in NYC and I will not travel 100, 200 or 300 miles to go on a date with that person.

I got Yuzu to potentially find an Asian partner but since Yuzu popularity has grown it’s no longer just for Asians. Got all people apart of it. So pls fix the filter system to actually allow people to pick out Japanese or Nepal or Korean or whatever else and actually only get those people. The location distance too I put it at 20 and still get people from like 750 miles away

A majority of Yuzu is just people who are looking for Asians who aren’t Asian. Specifically females fetishizing Asians and are from complete different backgrounds. Another issue I find with Yuzu is that it’s lacking countries. Specifically Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan is a country in Central Asia that’s filled with Asians. My only issue is with the countries and the fact that Yuzu is being abused by other ethnicities and races for fetishization purposes. Other than that it’s good

Please make the filters work better. The location filter doesn’t work and neither do preference filters. I get the developers can’t explicitly discriminate against non-Asian users or force non-Asian users off their app, but there are so many people who are clearly not of any Asian descent on here to satiate their Asian fetish. I get that Asian people come in all different looks and mixed people obviously exist, but some people are very clearly not Asian when they put their roots as “United States” and “Other” with some explicitly admitting on their profile they are not Asian. In an hour on Yuzu under “dating” I think I screenshot 30+ non-Asian dudes clearly here to be weird. At least let us filter these people out. Yuzu gives the option but then it doesn’t actually for whatever reason. For people who aren’t Asian, there are other ways to find community with k-drama and anime than colonizing an app that is meant for the Asian community. If your filters worked it would be a good app. Gonna go back to Hinge because their Asian filter actually works.

I have had fun on Yuzu and it’s exciting to something catered to the AAPI community. However, the amount of Asians vs. non-Asians I see on Yuzu is about the same, especially as I have swiped more.

It would also be cool if you could narrow preferences down to ethnicity.

My other complaint is there seems to be a large number of bugs. My preferences aren’t being reflected in the profiles I’m show (people from much farther away are being shown).

Specifically got Yuzu to look for Asians but about 50 percent of the people I see on here are either African American or of some other descent other than Asian which defeats the whole purpose of Yuzu . Idk if it’s because Yuzu is new, but there are so many people located hundreds or thousands of miles away.

I just got matched with someone that was just looking for a friend while I wanted a date. It even tells you which section they swiped right on. And then they give you a cheeky "vibes can change". Talk about an uphill battle trying to skirt the friendzone.

Echoing what a lot of other reviewers have said, there is a need for a safe space for Asians to find other Asians. The more non-Asian users are on Yuzu , the more it takes away from this space and its purpose. While Yuzu cannot exclude users, they should allow users to filter according to their preferences. At the most basic level, it’s what all dating apps should do—allow people to find who they are looking for. Also Yuzu uses up too much storage. Fix this!

I love the concept and it’s a great app - but the preferences is so buggy! It’s shows people outside your set distance, people younger/older than your age preferences… what’s the point of having these set if it doesn’t work!

Yuzu has a good concept and a good foundation, but it needs a big improvement when it comes to matching. Nobody can see who likes them until they match. There’s no messaging options available until matches are made. I feel being able to view the profiles of people who like/wave at you, let’s you see for yourself who they are as people. Having no messaging option available until you match with someone and not being able to see who likes you really limits pretty much everything.

For the most part it’s a pretty solid app only bad thing is the inaccurate dating radius. Example have your dating distance set to 40miles but still people 1000+ miles away.

The distance feature doesn’t work. It shows people from all over the US. It shows me single men when I’m married and only looking for friends. I chose the social option. Yuzu needs some work.

this app’s mission and intention for Yuzu is great and something I have been looking for for the longest time. I have mostly enjoyed using the social aspect of Yuzu (versus dating side). I want to continue being a fan of this app, and will be here hoping for some app improvements. It is still too new (as an app and for my region of the US) that there is not a lot of people for me to go through before I see profiles that are 150 miles away from me. I really wish there was a way for Yuzu to be very strict to my distance preferences because there is no point for me to consider friends that far. The biggest gripe I have is that I continue to see several people that do not seem to be of Asian descent here… in a space that is for Asians to meet other Asians…I understand this app may not be able to should not discriminate or filter people out of Yuzu….But I think there should be more of an effort to emphasize and provide educational resources in how to respect this space/what are some of the problematic issues here/or understand that this space is for community building and/dating for Asians.

Yuzu is good. But it deleted my account. I was literally on it five minutes ago. Went back on and my account was gone. Had to create a new one. I also noticed that a lot of people create accounts, but don’t use Yuzu . I matched with lots of people on social, and that was it.

Maybe it’s because I’m used to apps like bumble but I’m not a big fan of the UI. Also filtering doesn’t work, so even tho I filter to only people near me it gives me people from far away. I wish it was a bit more like bumble where if there isn’t any people in the filtered specifics you put it would tell you. Another thing is notifications don’t really work in Yuzu . When somebody texts me I don’t get it till I open Yuzu the next day.

I got Yuzu when it came out, so I know they are still making improvements but I hope that it gets better otherwise I might end up not using it unfortunately.

Swiping left and right both deny. Gotta hit the hand. So it’s not like Tinder. So I was rejecting without knowing. It should tell you red or green or something to indicate. It has a lot of little bugs overall but that was annoying.

I would like to keep using it. Kinda still better than east meets east.

Idk if it’s just my phone but when I try to sign in as a new user it doesn’t let me continue when you get to pick to be “social “ or “ social and dating”. The continue button is covered by the “ social and dating” select box and it doesn’t let me press continue. I do have an IPhone SE so I’m not sure if it’s my phone or Yuzu . Just started using Yuzu and have some suggestions. Please fix the filter on range. Maybe I’d like to meet people who are near me and not 750 miles away. There’s a setting for it but it doesn’t work and routes back to any radius it seems even though it says 30 miles for example. Also regarding communities, I really like the concept. But I’d like it if there was a feature to view someone’s profile from there. Let’s say I’m chatting with a couple people and would like to take the chat out of the community tab, there’s no way to personally message one person from there unless I shared details in the public chat. Also app kinda bugs if I leave it and come back, sends me a bunch of people I’ve already swiped on OR says I’ve reached the end of the line when that’s not true. I really like Yuzu though and have high hopes for it! I hope to see some improvements soon

I guess Yuzu needs some traction with popularity. So far it’s very boring and basic. I would like the developers to give us an option of removing written prompts if we don’t want them to appear on our profiles anymore, or hide/unanswer other “about me” questions. I also would prefer if my pictures weren’t zoomed in to 700%, it’s so off putting that I am looking up at people’s nostrils when their profiles come up. The prompts are also a bit cringey to answer :T Other than that, good luck to Yuzu, I’ve seen several of the same come and go and I’ve liked this one the most thus far.

The most annoying thing (aside from the asian fetish users) is that the filters don’t work. Distance specifically can be quite frustrating as someone not by a big city. Additionally, while non-asians cannot be banned, there should be a better way to filter out non-asians/fetishizers. Obviously, there are people who are multiracial but there are obvious times when they are not.

I wanted to download this because i personally fell Asian women are beautiful. Asian culture as a whole is beautiful to me. Not everyone wants to fetishize and I’m sure you all know that but from the reviews I see a lot of complaints of non Asians. So with that being said I won’t even attempt to create a profile. While I love the concept of Yuzu, there’s no way to really make this for the Asian community without running into exclusivity and discriminatory issues. As a result, there are a bunch of old non-Asian men who have gotten on be app which has ruined a big part of the appeal for Yuzu . Obviously we can’t tell if they’re interested in Asian culture or just have some weird Asian fetish or cultural appropriation. Maybe there will be some workaround with this. Also there’s are some clear bots in the chat group. Would love to be included in the development group on this

I’ve been meeting some cool people on here but my main gripe is the distance filter. I put it to be within 20 miles from my location but one of two errors can occur

1) I get people from 1000+ miles outside of my current location
2) Yuzu says that the person is one mile away from me when in reality the person is across the country

I love how Yuzu is catered to Asians though! It has come cool features and beyond the distance measurement has some amazing potential to be a great app

obviously the developers can’t exclude/ban people based on their identity, but from my understanding it is meant for asians/people with asian culture. and I have just seen a lot of people that I would rather not connect with that aren’t asian or are just there for the wrong reasons. I wish there was a filter for users to look for people in their age group or with the same ethnicity like on other apps. it runs well overall though and I’ve connected with some people

Asian guys complain when Asian girls don’t like them. Then we get an app that will allow Asian girls to find Asian guys, but it’s somewhat ruined by the the numerous non-Asians that join just because they have a fetish and see there’s a lot more to prey on.

Yuzu has potential, but there’s got to be something the developers can do to make this a safer place for Asians. Many of us are tired of being fetishized so if that’s your thing please take it to Bumble or Hinge.

Yuzu is fine. The only thing missing is a verification. It should have a verification for security purpose and to avoid catfishing. Hinge and bumble and other dating apps have users verify their profile and this app have should too.

To be honest I downloaded this app because they advertised that it was an app for Asians to find each other.

There's a lot of problems with the functionality of Yuzu - you get repeat profiles, profiles outside your filters, switching between social and dating sometimes doesn't work, etc etc etc.

That being said, the filters not working has actually worked out for me. I find people all across the US to talk to and that's really what I was looking for.

TL;DR; Yuzu is not great but the people are.

Came looking for friends and I’m married. Set it to women and location 20 miles and under and I’m getting a bunch of guys and over 250 miles. I know y’all are a new app with not a lot of users yet but let the filters actually work… also can there be a gender option for social? I came to this app through an ad I got on Instagram, and ever since the last three days I met some of the coolest people on it. I’ve met someone I think that will hopefully be in my life forever as well as some great people in the community to hangout for brunch, raves and having lots of fun with! And they do a lot to maintain safety and keeping it fun for everyone!

I saw this app through an Ad on Instagram and it peeked my curiosity here’s what happened. So I’ve already met with a lot of people. If you don’t want to date people, it’s still okay since there are community chats that you can check out and you can turn it off completely and just go for “social”. So far, the people I’ve met were very fun to talk to. Of course there are weirdos from time to time but you can’t really avoid it since it’s the internet haha. Anyways, Yuzu is relatively new and expect bugs. Hopefully they add more community chats and fix the distance filter.

I kinda like Yuzu, I feel I definitely see generally more better quality people than other dating and social apps. Not to be mean but there are alot of weird and strange people on other apps, there are more normal people here besides the other nonasians who are fetishizing asians. But just don’t swipe on them and they will get no matches and then get bored and delete Yuzu , no worries. Overall the concept is good and I think Yuzu has great potential to do more

was so hyped to see Yuzu on my tiktok for you page. i’ve always wanted a social app focused on my community, as it can be hard to make new friends in a big city. since Yuzu was recently released, there aren’t a TON of people on it like other apps. however, the community chats are already active with daily convos. super pleased with my experience so far and can’t wait for the space to grow!

I’ve had Yuzu for about a week. I like the social/dating toggle, community groups, and I think it’s cool how you can specify your “roots”. It’s great there is an app for the Asian community in particular, and I’m excited to see what new features they come out with!
