Crossword - Word Hike Reviews

I enjoyed it until the minor flaws got old. Would have been tremendously better: 1) without the animations, with 2) even slightly better grammar, and 3) without the constant pluralization. You’re timed on completion. Okay. But then there are these indulgent animations that make you stop in the middle of spelling a word. When can you start again? Who knows! You also can’t type “over” existing letters - suppose the word is chimney, but the “i” and “n” are already in place, you’d better spell it “chmey”. Okay, but awkward. Nearly everything is plural, even if it doesn’t make sense for it to be. And lastly, grammar! Hint: Not having the adventurous. So it apparently means “calms”, but why is “having” part of the hint, and why is it plural? Most of the words are elementary school level, so I guess they make it harder with poorly written hints. Lots of tiny words, so they make them a smidge longer by pluralizing with “s” or “es” or such?? Oh and lots of the answers are multiple words when a better answer would have been a single word from a slightly more advanced reading level. I don’t know if this was a conscious choice or if the developers were non-native speakers.

This game is great. However, whomever they got writing clues for this game is either too young to be using some of the words in this game or is playing a joke on you as a player and they know it. One clue was “Home of the Gulf State Park”. How would anyone outside of that state know which state in the USA that houses that park. Also, some clues have better words associated with the clues than the word they are meant to hint towards and it’s very confusing. The graphics are great, the themed words are kind of fun, and it’s overall a solid effort. Unfortunately, the wording is off just enough that I couldn’t handle the ridiculous wording and have chosen to delete Crossword . If they ever decide to correct those hints or find someone with a better understanding of the words they are using, I might pick it back up. Until then, DELETED!!

This could be a really fun app. But it has some annoyances that are very frustrating. One is the animation after getting a correct letter. It slows the game because you can’t type another letter until the animation is finished. Sometimes the clue list doesn’t move after finishing a line. Sometimes it won’t let you put in a letter on a line by clicking on the clue or the square. And finally, the ads are incessant, long and repetitive. If this was a satisfying, as in none of the above mentioned annoyances, then I would consider paying the $5.99 to get rid of ads. But until/unless that happens, I won’t pay for it.

I’ve immensely enjoyed the game because it makes you think and also you may learn something new. Having said that I’d like to make a few suggestions. Clarify if more than one word in answer. Secondly, some of the words or descriptions are not anything some of us might not know, example; British words that are used in America. There are probably some American English that others don’t know also. Perhaps you’d say British use, or whatever, so we don’t bang our head on a word we aren’t familiar with

Do not download this game! This is another case of watching a video with a specific type of game play and finding the game is nothing compared to the video. The game is actually different than what was advertised. This is a this app puzzle. Extremely simple. What was advertised was a word association guessing game. Where you had to guess the next word but it is associated with the first word. Others in this review have probably explained it better than me. But it was a waste of download and time for sure. Don’t fall for it like I did!! This is nothing but a this app puzzle everyone!!

I hate more than anything else on Crossword Store when you see an ad for a fun looking game, you download it, then it is completely different. What is the point of that? It’s especially egregious here because the game advertised is just as easy of a game to program as what the game it actually is. Stay far away from this game. I’ll be immediately deleting it after this comment, and I despise the game developers for wasting my time and flooding the internet with more false advertising.

A game was advertised as being a game that each clue in the line would correlate with the next clue in the following line to get to the final clue. Like a word association kind of game where be something like this Monarch…butterfly…garden…etc. This is just another form of this app. Was hoping for the original game advertised. As a this app game it was fine but easy for the first couple rounds did but wasn’t what was thinking was getting when clicked the link

So far way too easy. Don’t give so many hints, but maybe it will get harder. Also, thank you for not bombarding with ads, I can actually play the game, and usually I appreciate not being bombarded so I buy the game to give to the creators. Other apps, I’ll just delete them if it’s too crazy. It’s rude.

I hate how they ask you to write a review after playing a couple rounds. At first everything is perfect. It’s really not a clear idea of how the game is going to go. It is easy to navigate.

Great Educational and spelling game

When I originally downloaded Crossword I thought it was the work connect game they have on TV because that’s how it was advertised on IG. I decided to still try it. But the game is okay. I really hate that the timer isn’t accurate. There’s no way 15 seconds went by and I just start. I went as far as using a timer myself. This entire app is misleading.

This isn’t the same game that was advertised within one of my games, it was showing cartoons/ pictures with multiple-choice answer for which cartoon it was or whatever the question was, and then it filled in a this app?? this is not at all that I don’t understand, I only played a few rounds of game is super simple, but I want the game that was advertised.

This started around level 500. I complete a puzzle. Then, going to the next level brings me back to the one I just completed, except it’s empty. Or, if I leave a puzzle and come back, most of the answers are blank, even though I already filled them out.

It’s no fun doing the same puzzle twice.

I like the game, ads are annoying but I understand why they are there.
It’s the music, sounds with the ads, etc I hate!
I turned off sounds & music but still get music & sound from your ads!! Will probably drop due to that be so annoying.

This game has these “theme packs” and there’s one called “happy holiday” but one of the hints for the word you need to guess is “dead body used for medical study”… what does that have anything to do with happy holiday? This game is a false game and they have major issues. Do not download this game, and do not buy anything from this game. Whoever these developers are are so wrong for this. Make them go bankrupt

Its a lot of fun until you have a pop up ad that gives no option to close it out. I see Crossword updated 2 days ago for “bug fixes” but I haven’t been able to play at all because of this issue

I get that people complained about the game being too easy at the early stages but now I think you’ve made the clues too ambiguous. Please find the happy middle between then and now

I keep getting cheated out of my coins when “Solitaire Tri-Peaks” ad lacks an option to Close! Please get rid of this game’s Ad. It has the same exact issue on other games. Not a happy player 😤

I want the game that was in the ad. Why do you always put a fake game like we won’t realize it after we download it that it’s nothing like the ad. And how do I get the game in the ad. I really wanted to play that one! Just dumb. You might have a great game but you are getting a very low rating from me cause I am very disappointed with the scam!!!!

The questions that I saw were elementary. They may get hard as you work through it but I couldn’t stand the music long enough to find out. I went into settings and could not turn it off.

I let my kids play this when they are bored an d being to laud and this games makes them so silent and also it helps the work on words and working together so over all this is a 5 star game

I got through level 277 game froze I cannot go to the next level. I love the game, but it seems stuff for some reason. I even tried rebooting. Anyone know why?

This is a good strategic game as crosswords often are, it can be as easy or as difficult only if you know the answer. Colorful and eye catching with fantastic graphics. Great for all ages. Just give it a go, and complete the clues. What is there to loose but a little bit of time.

I downloaded this game to play the version where you have two words and you create new words from one of the two words(for lack of a better explanation) and it’s only crosswords when all I’ve seen in the ads are the game I explained. The crosswords are very funny and also challenging so I’m not that bothered but this def is false advertising. Also the ads are killing me with every game there’s an ad after every round it makes me want to just delete them all.

The game is nothing like the ad that promoted it, it’s regular this app puzzles with extremely simple clues, like daughter of a king is princess 🙄🙄 also, it’s full of long ads that won’t let you get out unless you follow like three other pages and each video is like a minute long, I had to delete it within five minutes of downloading. Also, closing out Crossword was the only way I could leave the ad.

I absolutely love this game it keeps your attention and it’s worth every minute of your time. I just started playing so I will update as I play on.

The game you get when you initially download Crossword is NOTHING like the one in the advertisement. You begin by completing this app puzzles. I don’t particularly like crosswords, and had looked forward to categorizing items. Please don’t dupe perspective players by showing games that may never cue up.

I have played a few rounds now and am pretty happy with this game. it’s different and fairly challenging. The ad content is normal. You see a n ad after every finished board, it’s about what you expect in games today. If t gets worse the more I play, I will change my review.

I always read reviews before downloading a game and the reaction to the ads is what tops me from trying a game. This one is not too bad.

I Love the gameplay, but the clues are frustrating. They are obviously written by folks with a less-than-conversational grasp of English. Plenty of arcane clues, subject/verb disagreements and single/plural errors. Lacking attention to detail. Like they used an old thesaurus to write clues…..just a little off. Or maybe it’s written for British English. It’s certainly in English but some of the answers seem more geared to British English than American English. I have a much-better-than-average vocabulary, but sometimes the answer words are super arcane, archaic or just plain poor synonyms.

I downloaded this game because of an ad I saw during another game. The ad showed a game that was essentially unique word-association NOT a this app puzzle.

I played the first few levels hoping that the word-association level would come up. It’s not. As far as this app puzzles go- it’s not that good. The clues are pretty basic and Crossword itself is frustrating. It took me a minute to be able to get to the settings b/c of all the pop-ups for sales, videos to watch for more coins, etc.

I’d deal with those quirks if I wasn’t so annoyed at being mislead and duped. More and more ads for games are doing this.

I downloaded Crossword because I saw an advertisement that showed a word associate game of sorts. Clues to told you “Georgia is Line 5” or “California is two behind Georgia” and it looked like a fun game for me and my nieces to try.
But I was surprised when I downloaded and opened the game and it was just this app puzzles….. and not even good ones. Most this app puzzles you have to get the clues for across and down correct to win, but there are times when the puzzle doesn’t have both down and across. One puzzle I ended with the down “answer” being rrste or something like that, but definitely not a real word. Other issue I have with the puzzles is sometimes the “down” answer is either only half the length of the puzzle or two different answers.
My advise, if an advertisement brought you here, don’t bother because it is nothing like what you think.

I really enjoy the word puzzles when I get to play. If I look away and my phone goes to sleep, I have to watch an ad to play again, finish a game, watch an ad, do a little side game for coins, watch an ad. I watch an ad every 30 seconds! I spend more time watching ads than playing the game!

This is NOT the game that was advertised on the other game I was playing. This game started as an ordinary this app puzzle which is not what I wanted. Perhaps the section of the game I saw advertised will come along later in a different level, but I can’t get to that section yet.
Just let me buy the game and get over seeing all the ads, which incidentally are WAY too often. I have learned my lesson with “in-app purchase” games—-I’m deleting this one. Boo and hiss on you.

I enjoy the crosswords. There are so many ads in addition to the ads you can click to watch to get extra rewards. I wish there were more chances to play the logic game. I also wish the tutorial didn’t force you to use the one free hint to start the game and now you have wasted a free hint and either continue the game hintless which I did, or pay for coins. Fun word game, but like most of these games is basically just a cash grab from micro transactions.

When these way too often ads start taking 3-4 minutes, the developers greed destroys the game completely. I cannot waste that much time in these ridiculous ads, for the limited amount of gameplay!
Update: The farther you get into this game, the more obscure the answers become, and the clues become completely ridiculous! I made it to Level 533, in the last 4-5 levels, I used up over 5000 coins, because the clues had nothing to do with the answers. Level 534, won’t even try, I’m deleting this ridiculous waste of time!

I like this game a lot and the additional games you can click on . For example the daily trivia, the tile game and the logic game, which is my favorite!! Is there a reason why you have to complete 4 this app puzzles to have the ability to play another level of the logic game? I don’t see the point! Can you not just make it available? Otherwise I may end up deleting the whole thing…The Logic game on its own would be an amazing thing!!! Thank you

Yep, you guessed it, ads ads ads ads ads ads and more ads. If you want to reply to a text message, there’s an ad for that. If you answer the phone, there’s an ad for that. Don’t dare switch to something different or actually important unless you want the same stupid ad you’ve seen every time you put your needs above the game! Truthfully, it bombs you with ads regardless, but if you open an option; say the game’s store, be ready for the same jelly ad again and again!
Other wise it’s a super fun and challenging game!
Now that I led Crossword to write this review, I get rewarded with another showing of the same stupid ad!
Tread carefully lest you are blessed with more ad time than actual game play!

I got this game today playing it on and off all evening. After going to bed I woke and couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided I would play it a bit. I’m in the middle of a round, an ad popped up over bottom half of my keyboard. I’ve tried to x out of the add, let it play and neither works. It’s still there. This upsets me when I find a game I really like but can’t play it due to an ad. I understand ads pop up at the end of a round but this is while playing and it’s a small pop up. It covers the whole bottom row of my keys and I can’t slide it to another area. I’m really bummed but have to delete the game. This needs to be fixed somehow.

First off I do like the this app aspect of the game. I do not like all the side hustle games, especially that tile hike thing it’s awful. The thing I hate most about this game is the constant ads and they’re not just little short ads. they are over a minute and a half. Completion is based on time and adds that our so long it was just time consuming to me. I don’t mind the ads. It’s the length of time and you cannot exit out of them. If you exit out before it is done you have to watch another advertisement. Not all are able to pay the price to not watch any ads. I do enjoy playing the game, but I don’t play as often and I do foresee me deleting this game in the near future because of the issues.

This is an awesome game. I can’t put it down. However I notice the word “column” and “row” are being mixed up often causing me to get the answers wrong. I’m tired of having to watch another add for a hint because I can’t trust if they’re using the word “column” in the right way. Column and to are two opposite words from each other. It’s messing me up.

The game is not at all like the advertisement I clicked on to download it. Which was okay for a few levels. You have to do this app puzzles to unlock the logic puzzles. The this app puzzles have poor clues and are only for horizontal words and just a couple vertical words. So not really even a true this app puzzle app. The logic games are okay but they’re all exactly the same format and eventually get to being just as poorly written as the this app puzzles. Not worth my time.

Crossword harvests extensive data - including ALL browsing activity, transactional records, etc. - basically everything about your hardware and anything you do, view, or have on your phone. The privacy policy attempts to mask their data collection through wording to avoid disclosure of the extensive amount of data taken…and openly sold to a LARGE number of sources. And even if you are able to demand an opt out - it is only for 12 months.

Game may be great but you are selling your ENTIRE digital life to this company. Beware.

I do like your game but am very turns off by any depressing as such as fish dung if I cannot complete a task in time to give them water or a woman and her young children suffering because I don’t provide shelter for them. I am sick of see these ads. I will NOT download these. This is not what draws me to your games. I like puzzles and problem solving but do not need to see the depression involved in saving someone for a game. I play your games for a release of real life. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS!!!!
