Super buggy

I signed up for my free trial to check out the new programs..well it’s useless because CGX is so buggy. I can’t play a single video because my tv fills up with green pixels. I thought maybe the issue is with my phone or the tv but no, all other apps are fine and can be cast without issue. I tried to log in through my browser on my phone and it’s recognizing me as a different user so I try to sign up for a free trial again..doesn’t work. I click on “complete purchase” and nothing happens. Again, think it’s my phone or internet. Try on my laptop and experience the same exact thing. So I’m wasting my free trial because CGX nor website work. I also feel for those paying money for CGX because I don’t believe it’s quite there yet.

Can’t even make an account

It keeps telling me “error: user with email is already being used”. I have a very unique email, so how is this possible? I tried signing up via Google, Apple, and with two separate emails. I even went through the process of changing my Google password to get signed up. This is an epic pain, because now I have to relog into multiple devices, apps, and websites with my new password. No dice. Tried just logging in, thinking I had accidentally created an account (despite downloading CGX for the first time today), still nothing. I can’t user CGX, hence the one-star review.

Needs improvement

Although I love Caroline and her workouts the apps needs some very easy fixes to make it more user friendly. When you click the home button it doesn’t go home, you have to keep clicking the back button instead. There’s no way to see workouts you’ve already done easily while searching or favorite workouts you want to do besides scheduling. I also wish you could continue seeing workout video if you minimize CGX and need to look at another part of your phone during a rest period .

Content is good, app is terrible

I really enjoy Caroline and the content, but CGX is so poorly designed is nearly unusable. It doesn’t show which workouts you’ve accomplished, it’s nearly impossible to navigate, it’s very unclear and not user friendly. Very disappointed.
From the home page it doesn’t even show the workout programs. You have to click into a very random “favorites” section to then find all of the available workouts. Once you start a program and want to do it day over day, CGX doesn’t show you which one’s you’ve already done. That seems like the most obvious need - show your progress as you go along. It’s makes absolutely no sense. Truly terrible!

Great workouts, Terrible App

I love Caroline! I’ve been supporting her for years, but I’m starting to believe CGX/subscription is a waste of money. You literally can’t get through one workout without it crashing in some way. Sometimes you can’t even screencast the workout, which is one of the bigger reasons I decided to subscribe. I’ve already cancelled my subscription even though I still have it for a couple more months. I ordered CGX when she first launched it, and I’ve only been able to successfully get through 8 workouts in 6 months without issue. That’s terrible. I really hope they go back to the drawing board and figure out what the issue is.

Good workouts, buggy app

Love Caroline, love the workouts, but having paid 100 a year I would expect CGX to function.

I stream the workouts using chromecast or airplay depending on which room I’m working out in. These issues have happened with both-

If I watch the intro, then want to turn off the music for the workout, it restarts the intro. Annoying but not the worst.

The real problem has come where often about 75% of the way through a workout it pauses and won’t load further. I try restarting CGX , going backwards, waiting for buffer, and it will just won’t continue. It’s not my internet because I can stream on my phone from then on but that’s pretty annoying because it is too small to see. I don’t have this problem streaming from other apps. I tried logging in to my partner’s Ipad to at least use a slighting bigger screen when that happens but even logged into my account it says we have to sign up first.

This is making CGX almost unusable for me and I really think this issue should be fixed.

Waiting for developers to address bugs before I subscribe again

The workouts are great, CGX needs a LOT of work. Casting to your TV, which is essential, is buggy. I tried to search for particular workouts and the filters don’t work like they should. For example, I try to search for a full body workout that’s over 40 minutes and it gives me a long list of every possible workout, including upper lower, etc. And God forbid I pause the video while casting. It takes close to a full minute to stop glitching. Probably the most annoying thing is that CGX throws up different random glitches from time to time. I can’t even remember all that I encountered during the two months I had a subscription.

It’s really a shame, because the quality of the content is excellent. But there is no way I would pay money for an app that has this many problems.

Great workouts, frustrating app

I’ve been working out with Caroline for a long time and I’ve always admired the quality of her content! The workouts on her app meet that expectation; however, CGX has numerous bugs that make it incredibly frustrating to use. I chrome cast the video to my TV and the video constantly buffers and often crashes. I know it’s not my internet because the video plays fine on my phone without chrome casting. When the video crashes, it doesn’t save my place, so I need to skip through the warmup and intro then find the timestamp where I left off of. Sometimes when I try fast forwarding, the video doesn’t respond, causing me to reopen CGX and hope it works when I try again. I basically need to allocate more time to my daily workout to account for all these technical difficulties. All these issues are making me regret purchasing a subscription. I hope these issues are fixed soon, so I can continue working out with Caroline frustration-free.

Need improvement

Calendar option needs work!

1) Should be able to cancel an entire program if you start it on the wrong day. Instead, have to go day by day and change it up.

2) When adjusting the calendar, you can only do a week at a time. If you want to do the previous or following week, you have to go out, click the calendar icon and go to the next week. It is time consuming and a lot of extra irritation.

3) Why no printable calendars with the programs? If they are there, I have been unable to locate and perhaps they should be given their own tab?

Caroline is a fabulous trainer and I am looking forward to utilizing CGX. Hoping the things stayed above will be changed and make CGX better!

Content is amazing, app not so much

CGX user experience can be so much more streamlined, especially the calendar and the program navigation. The calendar is straight up buggy. I’d like to know at a glance which workout is up next without tapping in to see what those dots mean. Loading takes a while. Knowledge articles could be attached to their appropriate workout programs for easy access. Going back out of the workout page, then to the search bar, then scrolling through search results before finding the related content is tedious.

Certain features not working

I tried CGX because I was having internet issues working out at a hotel fitness room in the basement. I like that the content can be downloaded ahead of time, but it wasn’t able to record that I finished the workout (maybe because there was no internet connection?). I also cannot see the workouts I have completed, and I have to search for a specific workout.
Adding notes feature wasn’t working for me, it gave me an error message and I cannot copy paste the notes either, so I just didn’t bother. It was working at first, but it didn’t save the notes so when I checked it again the notes were gone. Then when I tried doing it again, I kept getting error messages.

I also wonder why have heart rate monitor etc if it is not able to track it? Are we supposed to connect it with an iWatch or something? I don’t have any of that. Just curious why bother creating the feature if it is not doing anything.

I am still debating whether to continue subscription or not, I do like her workouts but not sure if CGX features are working for me.

Great Workouts, Frustrating Subscription Issue

I’ve been enjoying Caroline’s workouts for a while now—they are absolutely top-notch! However, CGX has a major flaw that’s really frustrating. Despite having an active subscription, every time I open CGX , it keeps prompting me to select a subscription plan as if I haven’t already subscribed. Even when I try to restore my existing subscription, the problem remains. This issue has been ongoing and it’s starting to get on my nerves. It disrupts the experience and makes it difficult to fully enjoy CGX . Please fix this issue as soon as possible, as it’s detracting from what is otherwise a great app!

Too many glitches

I downloaded CGX to have a clear program to follow while abroad. When I am not on WiFi, CGX just DOES NOT WORK. It’s so frustrating to waste time being logged out and having to log back in or get the program video to load. There’s needs to be a download option to view offline (like Netflix, download an episode, watch then delete). I also can’t follow the written version because the form library is inaccessible.

I am on a free trial, but without such options to use CGX offline, I am not able to purchase a subscription.

Needs more

I am enjoying the beast mode program but I'm kind of disappointed that CGX doesn't include all her YT workouts.

It's also kind of annoying that when you start a program it doesn't automatically take you to the next workout when you finish one. For example, I'm on beast mode day 7. When I go into CGX to start my workout, I have to find the program, then scroll to down to whichever day I'm on. Maybe it's not big deal, but it is just really annoying to me.

A feature to add more rest time between lifts/ sets would also be great (Ladder app offers this) and maybe an add on of 10 min abs or HIT as an option when you finish your workout (a feature BODi offers) Adding in/ teaming up with my fitness pal or something similar for counting macros/ calories would also be a nice touch, but that's not a big deal really.

I love CG YT and just really wish CGX had more to it.

Just some ideas to help take CGX to the next level. CG is my absolute favorite trainer and I'd love to get more out of her app.

Needs a little work

I looove Caroline’s workouts, I’ve been following her workouts for years and so happy there is an app now. I enjoy being able to workout without all the noise. The disappointing part of using CGX is that it doesn’t work well. I try to assign workouts to a certain time and day and when I go to view them, they aren’t listed. I like to schedule options for myself but either can’t see them or delete them. I now add to favorites to access them. It would be nice to be able to see which ones I’ve completed as I like to keep trying new ones, but there’s no way to know which I’ve completed. The quality of the workouts are great but feel it’s lacking the planning aspect. I hope CGX keeps improving as I love Caroline and her training.

App issues

You can’t close your iPhone while casting CGX and then open your iPhone to pause or restart without it shutting everything down. I will say that this may be an iPhone issue because I’ve noticed recently that ALL apps do this and it’s SO flipping annoying.

CGX does have issues with pausing and starting even without closing anything. It also deleted my “week streak” which should not have happened and now I’m mad about that.

A suggestion would be adding a function that shows which workouts you’ve done, a section for tracking weight, in measurements and overall progress. I also wish there was a way to assign a program instead of always having to navigate to a specific workout every time. Also getting rid of all of the typos would prob be nice.

I do like that the recent iron program actually explains that it’s aim is for hypertrophy. Thank you for including the point or purpose of the programs structure and what it aims to accomplish! So many needless FB posts in the group from people asking about which programs to do because the description for each program is lacking so badly no one knows what to do. Super annoying.

Over all I love Caroline and her workouts and can’t imagine how much work and detail goes into creating all of this. Thanks for taking the feedback! Caroline is a legend!

A few suggestions

I like the work outs, nice to have home workouts. However as a husband it would be nice if Caroline would wear more clothes out of respect for wives. Again good work outs but she sometimes doesn’t wear much, so it makes it awkward if my wife is watching. I understand working out I have doing it for years but if she was just a little more clothed I wouldn’t feel embarrassed to be working out with CGX.

AMAZING content!! App needs work

I LOVE Caroline. Her workouts are fabulous!! I am used to streaming her workouts on my TV. I struggle with browsing past ‘Assign a workout for today’ and all the steps it takes to access the workouts. I wish that was the default page. I do often have to stop workouts to tend to my kids. More often than not, the airplay will disconnect and I have browse to the workout again and find the spot that I paused. Drives me nuts!

Excellent content, frustrating app, tech support is silent

I’ve been following Caroline Girvan since COVID. Her workouts are excellent. I want to like CGX but I’m unable to access my account. CGX did work fine until it locked me out. I have not been able to use my app since 5/31. Despite almost daily requests I received a tech email once with no follow up. This is an expensive app with no tech support . I am a loyal fan of CG but frustrated.

Great content but app needs some redesign

Caroline’s content & workouts are second to none. I love the workouts! However, there’s nothing in here to track my journey. I’d love for the programs to have some sort of status bar - showing % complete or x of x workouts completed. All I see is total workouts but can’t see what I’ve actually done. Even when clicking on a workout I can’t tell if I did that one already. That seems like a basic function that’s missing. Also I don’t love the home “page” design. This is where I wish a progress chart would be. There’s satisfaction in checking boxes, closing rings, etc. it needs something like that. Overall it’s fine but not great.

PLEASE FIX

I love the creator, but I have to exit out the view to see what’s next and then it restarts the whole video. The warmup videos don’t be showing up either, it’s blank when clicked. Also can you list the name of the exercises in the warmup and cooldown. I wish the calendar shows the program setup where you are able to select the workout days and different times instead of just letting u choose 1 day and time only. Also can you include substitutions of exercises.

Good workouts, app still has few bugs to fix

I love Caroline and have been an avid follower since the beginning of the pandemic. I was so excited to see her finally have an app to use. However, the casting feature is still finicky and it doesn’t want to cast and stops in the middle of my workout. I would also love to see the video save my place if I ever need to leave CGX as when it crashes I need to start the warm up and video all over again. Overall great but could be more user friendly!

So excited to start Beastmode, but have a suggestion

I can’t wait to start the new program live! I understand releasing the work outs day-by-day, but I like to have an idea in advance of the general workout. CGX doesn’t allow us to see the full name of the daily workout; I’d really love to able to see the full name and the workout descriptions at least. Then I can plan in advance if there are other things I want to do as add-ons and figure out my overall timing

Completion

For every episode it would be nice to have a button or automatically have it completed. I’m at the beginning and every day it passes and I complete it I have to remember what was the last workout/day that I completed. It would be great if they can add the feature of completed to the actual day it was completed. I think a lot of us would be happier.

Love the workouts.. some nit picks for the price…

Love the workouts but CGX could use a couple of updates. 1. There is not an indicator of progress within actual programs so you have to go all the way into settings to see what you did last. 2. It would be nice to have a recommended schedule and then edit it vs have to add each workout to your schedule.

Bug fixes needed

I am on my 4th time uninstalling and reinstalling to make app work. No issues with content as CG is amazing and CGX is fabulous. But it’s frustrating to plan your workout only to not be able to get in app or have it keep freezing in the middle of workouts.

Great app please add You Tube content

Hi! I have been using CGX since Day 1. I am a beginner at strength training! this app is a great tool for anyone wanting to start strength training. I would like to know if it is possible to get CG’s you tube content on CGX ? I am in between Beginner and Beast Mode and find her you tube content resourceful, however I am paying for CGX and want it as a one stop shop to continue my training and not having to go through multiple apps. Thank you again for this wonderful app. Keep up the great work!

Love the beginner’s program

I am so excited for CGX! And I know that feedback will only improve it:
*the steps and health info under statistics does not match the info in Health on my iphone or that under Activity on my Apple watch. The steps on the this app app are way over.
*how do we input a rest/active rest on the calendar? Is there a way to note the activities for a rest day in the calendar?
I love everything about Caroline’s approach on fitness and healthy lifestyle and look forward to continue using CGX.

Calendar issues

As with any new app, there is always room for improvement. I’m loving the programs and all the features! Is there a way to wipe the calendar and restart if you’ve goofed it up? I like that you can input an entire program, but if you get off track, it’s difficult to change. I now have multiple days of programs on each calendar day. Yep, I goofed it….I just want to fix it. Other Than that, WELL DONE! : )

A few suggestions

First off, Love CGX . But with most things there is always room for improvement right? I would love to be able to add friends on CGX or share info with friends, as my cousin and I workout “together”. And I would absolutely lose my mind if all of Caroline’s content was available in CGX as well as YT. Having it all on one place would be a dream. I appreciate everything about CGX especially the “form” videos! Caroline Girvan is absolutely amazing and i recommend her content to anyone dedicated to getting fit!

Updated app is an improvement

Initially had issues with CGX lagging while casting to television, so rated it at 4 stars at the time. Happy to report that I no longer see this issue since the last app updates. Have read/heard that a web version is in the works and looking forward to that!

As other reviewers have mentioned, would love if we could see a % of completion progress meter for particular programs. Would also like to see a way to track weights progressively rather than jot down in one section of each workout. This is helpful, but being able to see weight progression longitudinally would be great as well. Thanks for the updates and working out those initial bugs, great app and love the workouts!

Love the variety of workouts and the ability to use it all over!

I love the ability to use CGX in my home gym and while traveling. At first I wasn’t sure how to use it beyond my phone, but figured out quickly how to project it to the TV in our home gym. I also loved how I can use my own music and still have the beeps come through. I also discovered how I can use the program while traveling in other gyms! Love the many workouts to choose from too!

Love. Every. Minute. Of. GSX

I have been following Caroline since spring of 2020, and have been literally seeing Girvenators grow into millions in the next couple of years. And of course I moved to GSX, an app that is solely dedicated for people who want to get stronger. I use it minimally five times a week and CGX is exactly what I need, no ads and pure training. I’m getting stronger and have told everyone who are interested in strength training about CGX . Worth every penny and more, much more.

Love the extras!

I have used a lot of fitness apps and this is perhaps the best one because of the fitness/lifestyle blogs. I love that Caroline explains the science and research behind the programs she puts together! I don’t know any other online trainers that reference studies from medical journals to support their ideas and teach their audience something new about training!

The this app app features the excellent training and perfectly designed workout programs of Caroline Girvan. Along with this, there are well-researched and meaningful articles written by experts, Caroline included. The form library, which shows Caroline’s guidance on proper form, is extremely helpful. I recommend CGX to anyone who is looking for amazing workouts that are combined with a holistic, joyful approach to health and fitness.

No other fitness app comes close!

This is the only app I’ve come across to completely educate you on your fitness journey not basing itself on outward appearances, fads, or popularity but purely by knowledge backed by professionals.

It gives no-nonsense information complete with articles from Psycologist’s, physiotherapists, nutritionists and of course Caroline, the fitness coach. I especially appreciate how it approaches the latest trends. The user is given clear, science based information and allows you to decide what to do with the information without pushing any hidden agenda on you.

I highly recommend CGX to anyone who is seeking to improve their every day choices and tune out the excess and sometimes overwhelming noise surrounding the health and fitness industry. It’s worth every single penny!

Finally a workout app I can get behind!

this app is a wonderful app. It is so nice to finally look forward to at home workouts again! The workouts are challenging but completely customizable so you can go at your own pace. The best part is that she doesn’t talk during the actual workout. She gives you an overview at the beginning but then you only need to follow the beeps. Which allows you to zone out and focus on your workout rather than the screen. A few suggestions I would make is for the workouts to somehow show as completed after they are finished. Especially the ones in the 10 week programs. It is very easy to mix up where you are at in the program since they don’t have any indication of what has already been done. Also, an internal calendar would be nice in order to track your progress within CGX . It does show a count of workouts completed but that’s about all you see. Would be great if you could view and share what your week/month/year looked like using CGX .

My favorite program

I have tried many workout programs over the years, and Caroline’s workouts are, by far, my favorite. I have seen more results in my muscle tone, the shape of my body, my strength & endurance than any other protocol I’ve done. 10/10. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for CGX and future programs.

CGX workouts are fantastic and great value !

I am a long term ( as in over three decades including my own experience as being a trainer in the earlier years ) weight lifter and since 2020 I haven’t stepped into a gym . Caroline Girvan’s workout style really fits with how I like to train and fits in with my work at home schedule. He app workouts are brilliant and she provides many workouts and different training modalities and specific longer programs as well as shorter workouts and workouts for specific body parts . I really couldn’t ask for more !
