Stay far away

The absolute worst renting experience I have ever had, and it isn’t close. Incompetent, unresponsive, and generally useless. The didn’t do any cleaning or maintenance before we moved in, and then tried to charge US for the (very minimal) cleaning we insisted they do after we moved in. They took 3 months to address a leaking roof causing mold in the property (they took so long, it actually put them in violation of California law). Any time you call them, you will get a call center - it doesn’t seem like they have any actual employees in the United States. Currently, we’re stuck without a washer or dryer, because (after 6 months) we finally convinced them that the unit in the home was broken - so they took it away and left a new one, which lacks the correct hookups for the home. Oh, and there’s a third washer currently sitting in the front yard which also didn’t fit; they haven’t gotten around to picking it up, so it’s just sitting out front exposed to the elements.

In terms of the app itself - it doesn’t work either. I couldn’t even log in for the first 8 months, and never got any response from anyone when I asked support about it. Scheduling a service appointment is incredibly buggy, several UI controls simply don’t work, or will throw an error, forcing you to restart the entire process.

tl;dr, do not, under any circumstances, rent from Belong. You will regret it.

Disclaimer: This review is about BELONG, not the app. My experience with Belong has honestly been a letdown. They skipped mentioning some important safety stuff about the area, like a transition house for inmates nearby – news to me! In the first month, our car disappeared, and over the next five months, my windows took a beating five times, plus my license plate went missing twice. Basic stuff? Yeah, that's where Belong struggled, taking three months to hand over my mailbox key and five months to sort out bill payments. Talking to them was like pulling teeth – emails went unanswered for ages. And get this: our neighbor, who shared the backyard, turned out to be a registered child molester! Belong conveniently forgot to mention that, and even the landlord didn't know when we finally met on our way out. Belong's lack of transparency and lousy communication seriously messed with our peace of mind during our stay.

Sign in With Apple Has Never Worked

I made an account with Sign in With Apple on their website. Their app has never worked when trying to sign in though, I reported it as a bug with zero traction.

Not related to app functionality but Belong is generally a very poorly run company. I applied for an apartment in Washington state through them where we have a first qualified applicant rule. The site said I was “first in line” only for me to get completely ghosted, never offered a tour despite continually submitting time, and then when I called support for help they said they had offered it to somewhere else. So essentially what happened is that I had $50 stollen from me via the application fee while Belong broke our local rental laws.
