Works except trouble using password manager

I was able to successfully use myORCA with my ORCA card and do an instant reload using Apple Pay on an iPhone.

Unfortunately, I did have trouble logging in using a password manager to automatically fill in my email and password. Eventually, I was able to manually delete and the paste my password in from the password manager, and I could login and everything else worked. I had this problem on both iPhone and iPad, but eventually deleting and pasting the password allowed me to login on both. Once logged in, I stayed logged in next time opening myORCA , so this problem only happened on first login after setting up my account (unless you select logout in App, I assume).

Clunky in the details

Horrible security questions that should be torpedoed for new ones (only one applied to me). Doesn’t use my existing Orca account, leading to uncertainty with my old Orca cards. Doesn’t recognize certain Orca cards. Timed out while entering credit cards—way too little time. Also, the entry field for the Orca card number prompts the user to enter saved credit cards from Safari (obviously incorrect) while the actual credit card entry field doesn’t activate the the saved credit-card prompt.

So useful!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I learned there was going to be an app for the old blue ORCA cards, but I’m so glad I got this. It’s so useful! It was such a pain to wait days for money to be added to my account and now it’s immediate. Thank you!

Doesn’t support contactless payment

You can use myORCA to add value to your Orca card. Okay. But you can also do that on the “this app” website. The benefit of myORCA would be if you could add your Orca card to Apple Wallet and use your phone or watch to tap on and off the transit system. Updating this review because the developer says this is coming in 2023 & that will be much appreciated.

Good start needs work

myORCA is good but needs some tweaks. Why is the font so giant? When adding credit card why does it not use the iOS ability to propagate a credit card I have on my iPhone and auto fill.

Good start! Can’t wait to use my iPhone and ditch my orca card all together

Love this app!

The this app app makes it easier to manage an ORCA card account — loading money on the card and such. So then, you can use your ORCA card to travel on King County Metro and other buses, trains, light rail throughout Seattle and the Puget Sound region!

Great addition to our public transit

myORCA is so helpful. Makes using public transit even easier. Easy to use. Easy to add my old card and plan trips

Hoping for improvements

Knowing this is the initial release there may be more functionality ahead. Here are some suggestions:
Apple Pay or Google Pay option in payments
Apple and Google Wallet functionality

Super convenient!

So much easier to get money into my card on the go. Especially compared to before!

Great so far

I’m really glad this was finally created. It seems to be working great so far! I’m excited to see what they do with it.

By

Amazing!

This is such an easy and amazing app! I highly recommend it. It was very easy to use and took me only 5 minutes to set it up. I love it!!!

By

Wonderful!

I’m so glad that that ORCA now has an app to manage my card as I regularly travel on multiple transit systems!

No Apple Wallet support and no Sign In with Apple

1. Common, it’s 2022 and no support for Apple Wallet? I want to ditch my physical wallet. We have to wait until 2023?

2. I don’t want to create new account for every single app. Give me ability to login/sign-up with Facebook/Google/Apple accounts instead.

3. The UI is too big, I would prefer smaller buttons, text, etc.

Where have you been all my life?!?!

myORCA will change my crazy, WAY too busy life!

By

Such an improvement! Go ORCA!

So happy ORCA finally has an app where I can manage my card on the go! Love the new look and feel!

By

Easy and intuitive

Very easy to set up an account and link to an existing ORCA card!

Great easy to use app

App is very intuitive and has good functionality

Greatest app of all time

This is the best app ever!!!! Even better than that Pokémon app. I can actually catch trains and busses with myORCA .

By

day one problems

verified my email, cannot log into myORCA . i can log in to the website just fine but myORCA just doesn’t work? it’s also clunky. no up or down arrows to move fields? lazy. no password management for iphone? lazier. this is day one. did no one test myORCA at all? like seriously you spent how many millions rolling this out after removing stops and having constantly late buses and this is the garbage we get? lol. i would avoid this until it’s out of its beta phase. because this feels like a beta release

Adds value instantly!

I love that I can add value instantly using myORCA .

Looks nice but slow and needs upgrades

My main issue is that it constantly logs me out rendering myORCA pretty useless. It’s extremely frustrating and for whatever reason it doesn’t play nice won’t the apple password manager so I have to manually add which just ends up with me constantly changing my password. I like the live time transfer info. Would love more maps and status updates.

What a joke…

myORCA has my e-wallet with multiple active credit cards, as well as my physical preloaded orca card. When I try to scan myORCA it launches apple wallet then pings back and forth between asking me to put the phone closer to the reader, scan my face, or enter my passcode. Your readers are too close to the ground to effectively use Apple Pay, nor should it even be necessary.

Also, why is it logging me out every time I close myORCA ? Since when is that a practical approach for any application? Especially one thats commonly used on the fly. Picture yourself having to sign into an EZ Pass app every time you go through a toll. I’m a pedestrian. My hands are full, and I’m in a rush, trying not to get hit by a car, while trying to follow the instructions on my gps. Why is your app making all of that more difficult when the objective was to make it easier?

Nowhere near the industry standard

I just moved back to PNW after 20 years away and was shocked at the state of transit options in the area (for a region that prides itself on being so green, everything is 120% car based!) in general, but payment options specifically.

Every other major metro area, I wave my phone or watch as I walk past and the machines take care of it. Not here! You have to buy a special card, that’s only available in limited places, and you have to pre fill it as you go.

That said, I respect myORCA as the system admins have acknowledged these issues and have a roadmap to address them. Granted, that roadmap is long and winding to avoid stepping on the toes of any of the corrupt, unnecessary profit takers along the way, but they have a plan to at least make the payment system better.

Except myORCA, which is very much limited as the other reviewers have noted, just locked me out, saying my credentials are invalid. The help system ONLY offers me a password reset, but that says my email address isn’t recognized.

But I CAN still log in on the website, so obviously myORCA is just busted. Cool.

By

Can’t even use it

Seems like a great app, if I could use it at all.. it keeps telling me variations of my email not existing/password being wrong when I can use both perfectly fine through the website and the password reset emails even come through properly from myORCA while simultaneously being told that “that email does not exist”.

Just want to be able to properly pay for my rides.. please make myORCA functional..

Also seconding wanting myORCA to not log you out, or at least give the option to opt in to staying logged in or save password. Ease of use for transport apps is highly important..

Historically terrible

Ever since it’s inception, orca has gone out of its way to be as difficult as possible, in every regard. Their concept is to provide nothing but an inconvenience and make everything about purchasing, managing and using it as inconvenient as possible. Every single thing about orca is bad. There’s no incentive to use it and if you have one, chances are you won’t be able to. myORCA isn’t terrible in the sense that it doesn’t do what it’s designed to do, it’s terrible because of the lengths that they go to ensure that it’s not user friendly on purpose.

By

After update I can’t login the app

I don’t know what happened, after this update it won’t let me login using myORCA . I know I have my credentials right, I can log in using a browser. Before that it was okay at best, remembered my card but it would log me out all the time. Maybe wait until contactless payment comes but even then just use the website

By

App doing great

So far myORCA is working great! I do have an unregistered epurse card where the number is worn off from useage and I can’t read it to add to my account but it has over $60 on it. I’ll have to go into the sales office to get it loaded and I’ll transfer the balance to another existing card.

By

App good start but customer service needs big improvement

App provides real-time card balance & transaction. But question posted to Support in app, & requesting refund went unanswered for a while & still waiting. A new director was just hired, I believe. Hopefully, Orca devices will be better maintained, and customers’ request for any help won’t keep being ignored.

By

Not very useful

myORCA won’t keep me logged in and also doesn’t integrate with 1Password so I have to reset it every time I want to login to myORCA . Why does it log you out at all?

It also mysteriously does not show my linked card, but when I try to link it again it shows an error message saying the card is already linked.

Tap to pay/transit card integration with apple wallet is nonexistent.

By

Use app to pay??

I love the convenience of being able to load via an app now, but I am wondering when the rollout of being able to tap to pay with myORCA is coming? Everything online says early 2023 but it’s May and I can’t find any other timelines?

By

Good start needs work

myORCA is good but needs some tweaks. Why is the font so giant? When adding credit card why does it not use the iOS ability to propagate a credit card I have on my iPhone and auto fill.

Gets the job done just fine

Able to get it all synced and loaded in minutes, no problems at all using. Nice and straightforward. So much better than the London metro card.

By

Needs better developers

myORCA is ancient tech. Please hire better developers and use modern technology.

I expected it to be easier to use than getting the physical card. Instead have to enter 5 min worth of information, including the street I was born on and still had to get a card! So disappointing.

I should be able to Face ID, and away I go, ready to use. Update your tech, it’s not hard. Thanks.

By

Barely functional

I get a system error every time I try and load my purse saying transaction failed and then I still get charged for it and it shows up in my purse, which means double charges on accident.

Despite it saying it support Apple wallet it’s not for actually using your card, just paying. You still need a physical orca card to ride. Pretty lame and typical of sound transit, bare minimum and never striving for best. 👎

Would be fine, if I could sign in

Have reset my password multiple times. Can sign in fine on website, but constantly get an invalid email/ password notification when I try to sign in. Worked fine the few times I was able to sign in after initially installing myORCA . Now, even after repeated delete and reinstall of app, same issue.

By

Mediocre

- App should not sign out, this becomes a barrier to quickly refilling card. No use of FaceID. - Payment method storage is clearly a visually separate and worse experience. - No incorporation of Apple Wallet for use of digital Orca card. - Only reason to use this over the website is adding fare with Apple Pay.

By

Functionality

myORCA is very limiting. It needs a lot more functionality - from comprehensive trip planning, to individual bus & train ticket purchases, to maintaining ID cards and payment system. It also needs live updates, and point to point guidance. Long ways to go for a technology hub of the world (see SBB mobile - the Swiss public transportation app).

Orca card activity bug

So, I use the orca card almost daily, and I noticed the recent activity on my orca card seems to keep showing constant activity as in right now.

It shows boarding and transit time with the current time and date repeatedly going on for around 50+ times. Today I only used it 4 times. This is a bug that I hope gets resolved soon.

By

Recent Glitch in App Data

App was great until recently. It no longer has accurate data for each activity. Instead it now lists the date/time you open myORCA for every single activity; if you reopen it on another day, they all have that date/time and transfers are noted w those times, too. Making it useless. Please get the specific data for each ride/activity to generate as it used to. I use iOS if that plays any part in this glitch. Thanks.

By

Quite a buggy experience

It’s convenient being able to load my orca card from the phone. But I lost my card recently and I tried going to the replace card option and it’s bugged, you select it and the screen comes up but then it kicks you back after a second. I have no way to replace my card now and lost my monthly pass.

By

Get it Together! What a Pain

I recently got a card and today wanted to add money to my card but myORCA had completely forgotten all the info I had submitted when I set up my account Had to do it all over again and that failed. Ended up having to google how to add funds to my card without an account Should have just had an easy experience of opening myORCA , tapping on my account and paying using the payment I’d already set up Ridiculous waste of time for a simple task I needed to do. Guess I’ll just pay cash for my bus rides

By

Good but HELP BATSIGNAL TO DEVELOPERS

First off, thank you SO much for myORCA. The fact that I don’t have to go to physical place to refill the card is a dream, and I love it dearly. However, I’m in a pickle where it wanted me to update my billing address for paying with a personal card on Apple Pay, and I did that, made sure it matched in my Apple Pay settings and the Orca app, and it still won’t work or update-keeps saying “update billing address” where I would normally use my fingerprint to process the payment.
Thank you to anyone who sees this, I don’t know nothing about tech but am so grateful for all you all do 💞💞💞
Permission to email or fix or whatever ya gotta do, did everything I could/what it prompted me to do.

By

Buggy

I can no longer use my saved payment info during checkout, or give the info at checkout without error. Went to quickly load my Orca card and was stumped and frustrated. Yet, in my account settings I can view the credit card that I have as a saved method of payment. I can even edit the nickname that saved card. Still doesn’t appear as an option in the drop down at checkout, only “Apple Pay” or add a new card (which results in an error despite accurate info provided).

This issue wasted a good chunk of my time and made my life harder, so I can’t give it anything other than the lowest rating. Applications are supposed to have a distinct function, and this currently cannot serve a single one for me.

Still no Apple Pay?

Bought a card using the Orca app for a Seattle Trip. The card linked to my app seamlessly which was actually pretty cool. So, why bring the card? I hate physical cards.

Oh, wait. Orca doesn't work with Apple Wallet and you can't pay using myORCA ? I still rode the light rail sans payment, once. My protest ride. Paid into my account for the trip. Now that preparation is useless. So annoying and so archaic at this point. I'll buy another Orca card, hold a physical one, and I'll cancel my other one. I'm not mad... mostly I'm just disappointed.

By

Time to axe it...

And just do open payment for Seattle area transit. Fails repeatedly to do autoloass on correct payment method when you have more than one saved. Along with littany of other problems it has, it's time to just junk it. Why create yet another barrier to transit usage. If you want farebox recovery those joke of a link station ticket machines and myORCA aren't the answer.

Orca Card

Very helpful :) I can add money to my Orca card or buy passes with no problem. Very happy with myORCA. Thank you. I won’t have to go to the transfer station to add money anymore. I will never have to worry about transportation again. I love that I can do this on my phone. Saves me a trip.

No way to reset security questions even if you have the correct log on and password. To the best of my knowledge I never filled the security questions. awful!

James Glen   2 years ago

I applied for my Orca card a few weeks ago anticipating my visit to Seattle this coming week for a family reunion. I completed my application for an account including the documentation for a senior account. Indications were I would receive a MyOrcacard in the mail and that the initial card cost was "0". I have yet to receive the Orca card. I contacted MyOrca via Twitter but it was clear I was communicating with a bot. My Account has been verified and as I understand it, all I need is a card. My question at this point is when I land at Paine Field, will I be able to get a card from a machine and then apply money to it? Second, will my senior credentials be availabe through the card that I have on my account?
