Smart Printer App & Scan Reviews

I purchased a HP printer only to find it will need the smart printer app. Keeping in mind I was looking for something a bit more plug and play, this was a small bump in the road as it was yet something more I had to set up. Before I can even tell if I will be happy with the printer, a screen pops up to ask if I want some life time membership to it for $70. Or I there are also other options like monthly. I close that not knowing if I will even keep the printer. After continuing through to the next screen it pops up again!
When I close that out, it asked me to write a review and rate SmartPrinterAppScan …..so that is what I am doing. Even before trying it out, I can tell you I am already aggravated with it. The programmers are experts in their field. Fix that so anyone just trying to get started with this will have an easier time. Thankfully I do know my way around this but for someone that doesn’t (or someone that wanted something simple) this can be a frustrating experience.

Just received our new HP smart printer for Christmas and when I went to set it up it’s saying I have to pay for a subscription to use the ink?!? That is RIDICULOUS! We wanted an at home printer so that we don’t have to pay to use it. Its also saying if we opt out of the subscription we have to return the ink cartridges that came with it. What a complete and utter rip off. A new (expensive) printer should come with ink without having to pay extra just to use it. Just another example of big corporations trying to rip off and nickel and dime the little guy! Returning immediately!

He’s my first one so much and I had that one for about eight years. It’s still Printz but the photos are not as good. I gave it to my daughter and bought another one and love it! Highly recommend

Just going to say, I’m not going to pay a monthly, yearly or even a one time fee of $70 when most printers will link to your WiFi network and you can print like that. On the off chance they don’t there’s usually an app from the manufacturer that you download to do so. Same process and the only thing you’re paying for is the items you already bought: phone/pc, printer, internet. Not adding a subscription service into it that you don’t even need. 75-90% of the time

Don’t get this, it’s a ripoff. Wanted to setup my new HP wireless printer & was having problems. Downloaded SmartPrinterAppScan , stupidly not noticing it has nothing to do with HP. Could not proceed without subscribing, and again (stupidly) paid $70 for lifetime (because it was cheaper). Now stuck w/ a worthless app that does NOTHING. Went to rate it using their link & was advised it was not in my country. Lesson learned. Thought I was safe getting an app off an Apple store.

Easily connect to my HP and Canon Printers without any setup. Highly recommend 👍👍👍👍

Terrible setup instructions. I was forced to buy an App to complete the setup, but when I was asked to select which printer I wanted to setup, the model of printer I bought was NOT included on the list. Why would HP require me to use an App for setting up an HP printer and then not include the model of printer I purchased on the list of printer options I had to choose from? What a complete joke, so frustrating, and not funny.

If I EVER grasp how to setup and download with this printer I hope to not have to avoid my family because we can’t fax. I can’t use my app without downloading it with each use.

I’ve spent many hours on a project for which I bought this printer. I scanned photos to send to my family,as well as post on social media. Then, I tried to find them and they seem to be gone.

I bought this printer, because I’ve always loved HP’s technical support. Seems it’s gone. I’d even pay to get acquainted with the intricacies of this machine.

I’ve downloaded the Smart Printer app and it doesn’t help.

I suspect it’s a great printer if you’re technically adroit.

This is the biggest crock of crap I have ever purchased, $270 down the drain, and you have to buy a monthly agreement to use the wireless functions. I read that as being included in the purchase. It also seems to require internet with WiFi in order to set it up. This may be the most expensive thing I have ever used for target practice!

Trying to set up this printer by printing the instructions at eight every drop of my ink and I never got it connected. I’m trying it again. Wish me luck and I’ll change the rating if it actually works without charging me to use the printer. I find it ridiculous that they wanna charge me per month or per year for me to use their stupid printer

I want to use my phone to be able to use my printer but I have to spend another fee! Come on, I am on a limited income. This is ridiculous. HP doesn’t do a thing and I must pay more to use a printer I bought from them?

I may as well go to a store and pay them for as much as I print from my phones!

I understand app designers need to make money but making SmartPrinterAppScan for your printer that you should have made in the first place does not constitute charging extra for what should have been included with the printer in the first place. And exorbitant pricing is gouging!

If your tactic is to annoy the consumer with constant pop ups to purchase a membership than kudos, it's absolutely insane how many times it came up before I could even print.

Also, SmartPrinterAppScan is buggy, thanks for nothing.

I have tried several times unsuccessfully to sync my iPhone to my HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M281cdw. I do not feel I should have to pay for an app since I already bought the printer. I feel that this should be included with the purchase of the printer.

Last time I buy a printer that requires you to purchase a “Premium” access to print from the phone.

Never get an hp printer. The customer service is useless and the last two printers failed exactly a year after purchase so not under warranty. Save your money and time and avoid this horrible company!

I foolishly downloaded SmartPrinterAppScan thinking it was the HP Printer app. Knowing about the HP ink program I paid the $79 fee which I thought was for the monthly ink. WRONG!
Whenever I try doing anything in SmartPrinterAppScan , it crashes. I’ve asked for a refund but I’m doubtful it’ll happen.

Set up only allows you to use your phone. Will not let you continue unless you make an ink purchase. Unable to find a phone number for assistance.

My ability to to print from my phone is not reliable

It’s disappointing that you spend money on a printer then it makes you pay to print stuff off your phone, what kind of service is that.

I purchased Hp officejet from Costco. App works like a charm with my printer. Interface is super easy to use. I dont need to install driver to work. Honestly, setting up driver is always a hassle for me. However, you should follow instructions carefully at first time. Otherwise, printer cannot connect to iphone. App also comes with sending fax for free. Great!

I would give this a zero but… used this worked real good purchased it and now every time I go to use it it won’t let me until I purchase it again what is up with that ! Money back time !!!!!

Trying to make me purchase a subscription

Don’t touch! They make you think this is needed to run your printer. Immediately after you download it, they ask for $70 and make you think you have to pay it in order to set up your printer!

Locked me out with no paw Never gave me one. And can’t reset. This is horrible. Spent last two hours trying. Never had issues with other companies like this. Sob

To make you pay for an app Is just sad when you paid hundreds for the printer in the first place!

Doesn’t provide a sign on for an existing account and won’t let me proceed without making a new plan purchase. Total rubbish. I am cancelling my Smart plan. It didn’t save me any money to boot

I’ve used HP printers since day one. Finally retired and bought this for some limited color cards, notes, etc. From arrival to the trash in 62 days.

I purchased the full app and it cannot find the printer. My MacBook Air found the printer right away and installed it. All 3 devices are on the same network. What a joke

Keeps asking me to buy it again and no options for help

This thing doesn’t do anything except require you to sign up for the Premium version that’s silly expensive.

SmartPrinterAppScan is a scam, don’t waste any of your money. HP has a free APP that can do it all.
SmartPrinterAppScan well couldn’t even find my printer which was on the same wifi address as my iphone.
Garbage!
