Absolutely amazing

I think I’ve rated about five apps in my life including this one. After playing around with it for a few hours, I am blown away by how well it works and the clarity it produces with black and white images. The coloring leaves a bit to be desired, and options to change color in certain areas or objects would be a plus. It also doesn’t handle large images very well (had a few crashes with photos over 30mb exported from photoshop) but I wouldn’t call that a deal breaker. I needed Pixelup 15 years ago when I started piecing together the family tree.

It works, but trash.

Pixelup actually works! It enhances the picture so it doesn’t look pixelated, and it turns black and white photos into color, but there are 3 things that just make Pixelup trash. 1. The ads are 1 minute long instead of the standard 30 second one, and you actually have to interact with the ads, and its very confusing to get out of the ad. Second after you waste 3 minutes trying to save the photo, you get this huge irremovable watermark. And on top of that if you manage to do this 10x you actually run out of photos you can save. So I was debating on purchasing Pixelup assuming it was $1-3 but nope. Its like $4 a month. Not a 1 time purchase, a monthly subscription which I never support people who do that. What a waste of a good app. I would recommend Remini if you don’t want the massive watermark, but they are also trash for the same reasons I mentioned above.

Pretty Amazing!

Especially for those who’ve only left behind old photographs. It’s a way of bringing them back to life. You can tell that it’s not perfected just yet. But I’m confident. That soon the technology will be as such that you won’t know the difference between a real video.

Bill C

I do gallery photography and spend time as a Maring Corps combat Photographer in Vietnam. I just found it moments ago and have colorized two images from old family albumS.
I used to colorize with some older programs spending hours fussing over colors and and blended shades…one of the images was my Mom doing a High Land Fling at age 9 in a plaid kilt…
It blew my mind how it managed the colors, shades, subtleties and every other aspect.
I will rate it a huge “wow” well done.

This!!! 💯

I must say I’m quite impressed with the overall functionality of Pixelup. I’ve cleaned up a number of old Pics and a very detailed result 👌🏼. This most certainly gets a 5 star ⭐️ One thing that would be helpful is if we can do a OneTime Payment option. That would be very beneficial on our end Lol. Other than that, Great App 🔥 and looking forward to future updates 💪🏼

This app is horrible!!

I downloaded Pixelup today and tried it right away since there’s only a three-day trial period. The first photo, I saw no change whatsoever: the before and after were identical. The second blurry, bleached-out photo that I tried had HORRIFYING results: the changes they made to my father’s mouth were disfiguring, and the results on my seven-year-old daughter’s face made her look like a burn victim! I literally cried out, “omigod!” when the after photo appeared and I zoomed in to try to figure out why she looked so bizarre. That was it for me. Just looking now to see how I cancel my subscription….

Pixelup

I tried the this app app to evaluate the capabilities of Pixelup . In the marketing you see a photo that has four faces showing movement, and that’s not possible with Pixelup . Pixelup is limited to only a close up on one face, which made it a novelity function, and not a full fledged app. It’s cute, but not full featured enough to charge for Pixelup . I would suggest changing the trial structure to 10-20 try’s of Pixelup with a watermark, prior to having to purchase Pixelup . Keep going! If Pixelup could be more full featured, I’d look to see the progress.

Interesting app

I love the concept, but the experience needs improvement. Cropping should be streamlined using standard sizes instead of the drag and select feature. The auto detection option produces odd shapes and don’t think it’s helpful. Is there a way to build in a range for application of enhancements? Sometimes the edits come out looking too airbrushed or unrealistic. It would also be helpful to have an ‘undo’ option.

Don’t waste your money

The color conversion on black-and-white pictures is spotty. If there are any shadows in the picture they come out a greenish gray and there is no way to correct unless you do it in another app. The animate feature is a load of crap. It massively distorts the picture and adds creases to faces that don’t have creases. The result, especially with people smiling and showing teeth, is hideous. With the animate feature it makes the teeth all look broken. Won’t be renewing.

Scam

The ads are legit scam. The results are neither close to the ones in the ad, nor do the people after look any like the real people. Just machine learning increase of pixel density. Most likely trained a boat load of photos against pixelated photos. But the model still wouldnt know, what the people in YOUR photos actually look like. The model just “predicts” what they likely look like, based on the model’s training. In short: Garbage for actual family pics. Your family looks like people, looking like you.

Excellent but not flawless

This seems to be the best app of its kind. It’s incredible technology, but don’t ditch your original pics…sometimes (often) there is extreme facial distortion; sometimes you’ll get completely different face. Using Adobe mix has helped with this.

Not a big fan of apps who want money first

Not about to give my CC or information to a company that will not let you try Pixelup without giving personal information. They are basically saying our app is just out there to hope you forget or cannot find how to cancel or erase your information. There are a few apps out there that do the same thing that do not ask for your CC. I guarantee they all work the same. BTW Pixelup will not be as good as their example.

Brings old photos to life

Incredible to take photos of lost loves and see them once again in movement even if for a brief moment. I’ve never seen anything like this. Brings old photos to life with incredible details. The photo of my grandpa from WW2 was super fuzzy.

Can’t Save

Unfortunately Pixelup doesn’t give you access to your photos it defaults to random folder and only stores 40 pictures in that folder without allowing you to edit the folder or add new photos to it. App doesn’t let you import photos either you have to take a picture of the photo in real time.

I reached out to the developer who indicates they are waiting on a Google update to fix it. Not acceptable when I just subscribed for a year and I can’t save photos.

DON’T BUY

One of the black-and-white pictures to color was absolutely lovely.

I have only one picture of my aunt my uncle and friends on his fishing boat in black-and-white. When I added the color tears came to my eyes because I got to see them the way I remember them in color.

A good photo enhancer… for screen animation is horrible

I like the enhancement method for some photos. But In general, a bit over enhanced. No settings to control sharpening/AI repair. Does give a cool hyper-realistic look if you want that. The color photo conversion is a bit much although will give you a starting point. The animation is bad. Many free programs will give you better animation. Good effort, I’m a paying customer and will hang on If I see some improvements.

Transforms images in horrifying ways

I’ve seen bizarrely distorted faces. A low res family photo became a high res nightmarish photo with scary distorted faces. The ad load is insane - you watch a (looong!) ad, regardless of where you press you seem to go to the AppStore. You press back and there is a second countdown before anything happens! Unusable unless you pay a lot, and why would I given the bizarre results. Maybe the filters are fine but millions of apps have filters.

Needs improvement

Although Pixelup does a nice job enhancing the face, there has been a few times it doesn’t capture the entire face, (bearded man for example) which is very noticeable. The glassy eyes are a dead giveaway that modifications have been overdone, most times the eyes are cartoonish like, not very appealing. Also it should improve the entire photo’s pixels not just the face. Room for much improvement

By

App needs lots of work

It’s animation isn’t good makes photos wide and you can see mirror image like over top or behind image.
Needs lots of improvement done …Restoring photos isn’t good it doesn’t allow full coverage of photos…color contrast isn’t good with old photos please try better solutions before charging.

Sorry honey but I’m not feeling it.
Photos are to be beautiful as always.

Nice enhancement but a long way to go on animate

The enhancement and colorize are pretty good however the animate will crop and stretch horizontally so that while you know who it is, it’s an odd look and Pixelup itself seems to lock up after the animate

Some Decent Results but Privacy Concern

Pixelup does a really good job with some types of photos but in other cases I don’t even recognize the faces that come back in the enhanced photo. In fact, sometimes the faces are kind of creepy - childlike. I also notice that in many cases, only the faces are enhanced while leaving the rest of the photo untouched. It makes it look like the faces are fine tuned but everything else kind of blurry.

I have really only used this to enhance photos taken with older cameras with lower resolution, I have not done so much with the colorizing feature. Skip the animation - it crops only the faces from the photo and the final result is a very weird looking face - almost unrecognizable - with eyes moving around.

Finally a concern about privacy - I suspect this is similar to Pixelup that was going around a couple of years ago where it made you look like you were really old or young. There was a concern then that the photos were being collected by Russia for a facial recognition database. This is no different - I noticed you cannot use Pixelup unless you are connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or cellular signal). That means the photos have to be transferred somewhere and returned enhanced rather than it being enhanced on your local device. Just an observation.

All in all - a good novelty but don’t expect miracles.

Skeptical

I was Skeptical at first but downloded Pixelup anyway and was blown away by how well it worked. you dont even need to pay to use it if you dont want to.

Pixelup

Best photo restorer and enhancer as well as Colorizer for B&W photos and color enhancers for faded or yellowed older photos. It’s especially useful for photos of my family from the 1850s to the 1930s. It’s worth the yearly price.

Only Animates Cropped Face

The marketing material is a complete lie when it comes to animation. It will first drop off only the head, then animate and save the cropped head only. The rest of the picture is lost. On their advertising it shows full pictures with the faces animated. The software can NOT do this. Might give it more than 1 star if the marketing wasn’t so misleading.

Finished product comes out too small in pixels

I like the idea though

I don’t want alerts. Stop hounding me.

Pixelup does a great job of enhancing resolution. However, even though I subscribed, upon EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION it pops up wanting me to enable alerts. I said no! Stop harassing me to enable them. Would be 5 stars but because of the incessant harassment I give it zero (1 star). Turn off this nonsense and I’ll change my review.

Not as clear as described!

This is not as clear as your commercial described. I tried several photos and several came back with a fake face on my photo?!! I don’t believe it’s worth the effort. Canceling! Hello!

Love it

I’ve had several apps of this kind. Pixel Up is the best one I’ve used so far

Stupid app with tons of ads

There are plenty of much better apps with free trial and no forcing to watch stupid advertisements and after it’s finished, it asked you to pay money. Just simply wasted my time to show me an ads and ended up begging for money!

By

No instructions

I’m disappointed I used this on one picture and cannot find our read instructions on how to use with other pictures. If I new this I would not have purchased Pixelup for a year. Beware!!!

App works fine. Nice to colorize old photos. However it will not allow you to animate more than one face in a photo, which is disappointing. Also when trying to get tech support, they try get you to subscribe to some question/answer app for $2. Troubleshooting should be included in subscription price should it not? 🤔 Reason I decided to CANCEL my subscription. I'll find another app.

Why can’t I access photos from my library? If I can’t do that, this app is worthless.
