Poor Service

I’m sorry to give this a one star because I can’t reconnect my bank account to get another advance. It’s not fair because my bank lost connection and I only delete it to reconnect when it’s connect was down. It’s was a good app till this happen. Even if they said they would fix customers to reconnect their bank accounts in the near future, the damage has been done and they lost a customer because of their unfair policies.

Update: To clarify my review here. This connection happened before Plaid went down. I borrow from you in November of ‘21. After paying it back, I try to apply for another one, but it could not connect, so I unlinked my bank account and try again. You claim customers can only connect their bank accounts once and can’t connect again after it is remove. I knew Plaid lost connection with my bank because it happened with other cash advance apps. I delete your app after you told me your policy, why should reach out to you when I no longer used your app. This review is about my first experience with CreditGenie. I knew all ready about the down connection with your third party, Plaid!

App doesn’t work

EDITED TO UPDATE AFTER DEVELOPER RESPONSE:

I did contact Credit Genie via email. No one bothered to respond after several days.

I did not disconnect my bank account, and it’s probably not helpful for you to write back to your users in such a condescending tone. CreditGenie prompted me to add my bank account, I linked through Plaid, and then got stuck on a Saving screen. It should never just get stuck on a screen; that is a flaw in design. You should probably take the constructive feedback that users leave instead of writing rude responses. Perhaps listen to what people are saying instead of defensively telling them that they’re wrong. 🙄🙄🙄 I used Plaid to log into my bank account and then it goes back to a credit genie screen that says “saving” and gets stuck there. It never saves. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling CreditGenie . Same thing. Don’t waste your time

Never got my advance!!!

So I applied for a cash advance and they said it would deposit into my account on the 4th of November. Well I never got it so I called and they said by the 5th I said ok never got it. So then I emailed and they said you should receive it by the 5th then another email said sorry we have a glitch in our system and it won’t deposit til the 8th now?!?!? Come on are you serious??? This seems like a scam to me and no one will be taking any money out of my account because I never received a advance. Pretty disappointed right now needed it for a bill that was due yesterday and now today it’s late! I wouldn’t recommend using this company at all! They don’t deposit they just want to take money out and you think they deposited money…. I wasn’t born yesterday so I will not be giving a good review a constant run around. What a joke!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous.

CreditGenie is the worst I’ve seen, I’ve deleted it and redownloaded it multiple times after it connects to my bank but won’t “save”. I get emails from my bank saying it’s connected also, and plaid says each time that it’s connected, but CreditGenie itself refuses to load or save the information so that I can get an advance. It’s almost as if it doesn’t want you to use the service. So stupid. Save yourself the effort.

Response to developer:
You can only create 1 account per phone number. So I’m not sure how that’s possible with my bank account being connected. And for your reference for further responses, unless things are set up- you can’t access ANYTHING. Nothing shows in CreditGenie other thank your name, email or phone number. So there isn’t a way to know who to contact or how long to receive a response.

You saved the day!

This was quick and easy! I love it!

I am disappointed with credit genie! I was approved for 2 cash advances and attempted to take another one but was disqualified because my payroll frequency does not meet credit genie guidelines! I am confused my checking account is 27 years old. My payroll frequency is every other week. I called the customer service number in CreditGenie and I can never get through! I sent 2 emails and no response. So I attempted to remove my bank info and reenter it thinking something was wrong on my end . Now I am getting a message stating I can’t enter the same account number. This is so frustrating! I need to ween myself off of these Apps because they are nothing but trouble!!!

DO NOT GET THIS APP!!!!

At first, I was able to successfully use CreditGenie for a cash advance, but then I started getting error messages about being unable to connect to my bank account. I contacted customer support immediately, and they said they were having issues with Plaid that could take several weeks to resolve. However, they had no problem withdrawing monthly fees from my account during this time! I was never able to get it to reconnect after trying multiple times over the proceeding months, and now the developers refuse to refund the monthly fees I was charged despite being unable to use CreditGenie . They had no compassion and did not take accountability for the technical problems with their app. How can you continue to charge fees when you know your app isn’t working? It’s a scam!

Reconnecting bank account

I don’t see why CreditGenie doesn’t allow the ability to reconnect a bank account I solely was just trying to fix an issue with not being able to take a cash advance because my account was negative when it wasn’t so I decided to disconnect my bank account without knowing I wouldn’t be able to connect it again I contacted support to see if they can resolve issues I heard one of the devs respond and say some of there users abuse this feature I don’t see how and it takes away from real customers like me that have used CreditGenie for multiple advances you guys are going to lose a legitimate customer and if this issue doesn’t get resolved

Unreliable

Why do you make customers reconnect their bank account for every advance? None of the other apps do that. Now because of a bug in your system with saving bank account connections, I am 2 days without an advance I was counting on having to avoid overdraft fees with my bank. This shouldn’t even happen in the first place. When it comes to money, reliability is just as important as working well sometimes. Somehow there’s never a bug with connecting to my bank account to get your repayment, but this is the second time a bug has prevented me from getting an advance.

Process won’t complete

I’ve been stuck on the same page for hours and hours. I connect my bank account it tells me success then it goes to a blank page with a G in the middle of it and the word saving underneath it with 3 dots after it like this “saving…” but it never completes just stays stuck there. I’ve tried restarting CreditGenie and doing it over a couple times I even reset my phone and reopened CreditGenie and tried again that way with the same exact result. So 1 star is what I’m giving CreditGenie because it just doesn’t work correctly.

Kept freezing

Right after connecting my back the page froze on saving. And it wouldn’t budge. So I tried it again. Same thing. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing. So I’m uninstalling. Sorry I couldn’t use CreditGenie. Was looking forward to it. Maybe at a later time when they fix these bugs.

Update: I contacted you guys by email and haven’t got a response so I did reach out directly. I’m going to delete and re install and see if the issue is fixed. If not I’ll email you guys again.

Legit

I applied for my first cash advance and was approved instantly. It took 1 business day for the funds to show in my account but I didn’t mind that; I’m thankful for the fast application and easy approval. Out of every app I have ever tried this is the worst, I emailed them only to get a email saying they are open Mon-Fri 9-5 or something like that. The advance I got is only in CreditGenie and not in my bank and I selected to pay the extra money which is like 5.99 to get next day delivery they said after 9pm the “next day” they would deposit the money it’s been 3 days and nothing. The contact number is a joke that repeats the same thing. So far CreditGenie looks like a SCAM!

Where is it anywhere, on your app, that’s says you can get an instant advance for $100, no credit check, no nothing, but if that was the case, I would have $100, wouldn’t I? I don’t know what your requirements r cuz I can’t find it anywhere to see!? I wish y’all would stop saying “ instant advance “ when that’s not the case, your not Dave or Brigit etc etc! If I’m wrong, then show me how to get a cash advance for $100, instantly and that I can just pay it back next payday!

Was helpful while it lasted

For the first couple of months I had no problems with CreditGenie and loved the services it provided. However, I’ve reached out several times these past couple of days via email for help with reconnecting a supported bank account to no avail. When I sent my final email stating my dissatisfaction and wanting to delete my account, they simply said okay, bye. You would think they would want to keep customers. Smh

Have Not Receives ‘Instant’ Advance

CreditGenie was OK for a while. However my last requested advance has still not been received after 4 days although it shows up on my Credit Genie account. And I paid an extra fee for ‘advance’ delivery (by Monday - yesterday). I have not heard back from support either. Where are the funds?

Not User Friendly

I signed up recently and linked my bank account. I received a message that it doesn’t meet eligibility requirements. I sent customer support an email asking why as I thought my bank met all requirements. This was about a week ago and I never got a response. I unlinked my bank account and tried re-linking it and now get a message that there’s an error so it can’t be re-linked. I’ll look elsewhere for a cash advance.

Terrible.

Was able to get a cash advance when I first opened the account which was great. Repaid with no problem. When I went to get another advance it unlinked my account and will not allow me to fix the connection. When I reached out to customer service they said it was an issue on plaids part. Plaid said no issue on their end. Would not recommend. Cannot figure out how to delete my account now

Really appreciate the customer support with CreditGenie. I called, and spoke to someone immediately. Even though I didn't qualify for an advance this time. Will try again.

Don’t do it

They promise funds by 9pm and it was the next day. However, they don’t deposit to your bank account but to your credit genie account and THEN you have no way to transfer it. It says connected to bank account but no way to transfer. You have 24 hours to respond to me or I will be reporting as fraud since you can’t answer the phone either. I will not be scammed.

Can’t get my bank to connect

I can’t get my bank to connect and I never have issues with plaid on any other app. I’ve tried contacting support twice and always get one email back asking questions and then never responding when I answer them. Very frustrated that other people seem to really love the help CreditGenie is giving and I can’t even get it to work at all.

Cannot link account despite multiple attempts

I tried to use CreditGenie about 2 weeks ago and link my NFCU account and it advised me that it was a technical issue and to try again later. Two weeks later, CreditGenie still won’t successfully link my account though I’ve verified the same account using plaid on other apps

Not able to link information

I have tried several times linking my account just to tell me the information did not save and to try again every time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CreditGenie but nothing.

Horrible company that is rude. I reached out to them asking why the limit has changed and that I was being offered 100 and now can only receive 5. I told them I was unhappy since I am salary based so my income has not changed. They told me when my next payment clears they will disable my account by Ev-el-yn rather than helping me. There are far better payday loan apps available seek Earnin, Dave, Empower, Brigit, really anything that has better customer service. This company is RUDE. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!
