I used to LOVE the convenience and functionality of the X1 card. Especially the ability to super easily create virtual and temporary card numbers in X1Card . I attached many important services and subscriptions to this card.
Then my experience changed. I woke up to my charges getting declined. I went to X1Card to see what could be wrong. “Your account is on hold. You must provide additional security information”. No text message asking me to confirm a recent charge, no phone call about a security concern. Just 100% shut down of all my card numbers and account.
I did the extra security measures in X1Card . Take a photo of drivers license. Do a 3D scan of my face.
In my view, it is not acceptable to block my entire account to ask for these things. If they needed them to be in my account or updated every year, etc, they should have asked in advance vs locking my account.
I complete the extra security steps. But instead of releasing the hold like the original app message said it would, it now says, your account is still on hold and “under review”.
So, no other options to get my account unblocked. I think, ok, I’ll just call the number on the back of my card and get it sorted out. But guess what? No customer support phone number on the back of the card. In fact, no support number anywhere on the website or app. Only text or email support.
So I text. And convey the urgency of unblocking my card. And no response.
They will absolutely close your account if they get jealous of you making lots of points. To the person that said “this is the Apple of cards”…? I don’t think so buddy. Apple, or any other ecosystem/service provider for that matter, will NEVER intrude into peoples personal lives. They don’t have to! They have better things to do. But not X1 my friend. X1 will ABSOLUTELY monitor, intrude, and JUDGE you, and SEEK a reason to pick on you… close your account, and then tell you it was part of the T&C…. specifically if you’ve done some great work around points haha :) and they will find that reason to close your account, and get it done within hours. I have witnesses, friends, and a good handful of examples. Oh and also their employees will lurk you on LinkedIn and other social media…. Their defense is that they can use any means to look up someone’s card activity usage. Say GOODBYE to Privacy with X1 card :)) P.S. don’t even get into this mess. Go with Sapphire, AMEX Gold, Apple Card… ANYTHING….. but this privacy intrusion bank. Thank me later.
I’m expecting my credit score to take a big hit next month. X1 issued me an account with a 18K limit and a 30% APR about 8 months ago. I applied and excepted the card only to boost my credit score by having more available credit. I had no plans to use the card except for an emergency because of an interest rate bordering on usery. It’s definitely exploitation but that’s how the game goes sometimes. I’ve only charged around $300 total in 8 months and have never carried a balance. They lowered my limit to 7K and sent me an email saying if I start using the card they would consider raising it again. Losing that much available Credit is going to cause my credit score to take a pretty big hit. I regret applying for this card and I will probably end up canceling the card all together out of principle. I personally recommend Apply for the Apple Card or another Goldman Sachs issued credit card. Wells Fargo is also aggressively issuing credit. They are much better alternatives than this company.
Vlad Tenev now owns X1. Vlad, the guy who owns Robinhood, the beginners guide type of app into tje stock market. The guy who loves Payment for Order Flow and to make money off of you buying a share, and him giving you an IOU for that share until the price drops and he buys the share for cheap while pocketing the difference. (Theory is that they never even buy the share and pocket your money from the start). Vlad is not to be trusted and has tainted the free and fair stock market, thanks to Apex Clearing, late January of 2021. Huge rabbit hole, but in the end, Vlad is a criminal and the most recent email X1 sent out and the alarming confirmation by customer service representatives means this acquisition is real, and scary.
I signed up for the X1 card waiting list YEARS ago, and I have used the card ever since approval and loved the boosts and how quick the point redemption program was and now I’m not going to use it and X1 means nothing to me. See ya.
X1Card is only as good as the product behind it. The 3% has now changed and only available on the amount over $1000 spent each month. I’m taking advantage of the 3% this year until my term lapses. And it’s only 3% at certain vendors. I think the team has promise and are adapting, so hopefully they will make necessary changes before going away… Otherwise, back to the solid Double Cash and other 2% cards. Confusing for newcomers too. It only shows 2% because after my 1yr of 15k spend, they go back and give me the 3% after my 1yr. However this plan is gone for new folk. Good luck X1 team. I was SO looking forward to not using anything else now and in the future too…
Title says it all. $0 annual fee, slick mobile app, cool features I have yet to use (such as auto-expiring virtual cards) and with enough spending, better rewards (3%) than other cards out there. BUT, big capital "but", the vendor list needs to be rapidly expanded to include more merchants - airlines, hotel franchises, Uber/Lyft - just to name a few (and that's just within the travel category). Once X1 secures a vast array of partnerships, I think this card will be close to unbeatable. Three stars for now since the reason I got it was for more rewards as a % of spend. Rewards don't do me any good if they can't be redeemed usefully.
Very nice smooth app, I’ve not encountered any flaws and customer service has always been helpful and fast. My issue is this, how fast they’ve ALREADY altered their rewards program. I am a man of consistency when it comes to just about everything. When I first applied for this card in 2022 the rewards were if you reach a certain spend amount they would triple your points for the year which would give you ultimately 2.1 percent back on everything. Good deal. Then I look today in 2023 they’re now changing that program to a measles 1.4 percent on your first thousand spent every month and only get 2.1 on purchases made after that threshold monthly. That’s bogus. Smh. Always a catch sooner or later. May or may not continue to use this card when my year is up
My favorite card, but with some poor UX recently. Sleek, nice app, loved ability to make virtual cards. After a very frustrating weekend of my card being turned off due to a bug, then turned on again, then flagged for fraud multiple times, a customer service manager reached out once everything was resolved. Appreciate the attention to detail with their service, and the ability to text CS to resolve issues is excellent— wish all banks and cards had that.
I had been in the waiting list for months and was overly excited when my invitation arrived. I went through the application process and was most excited about the no hard pull of your credit. I was a little skeptical about giving access to my bank account but thought since there was no hard pull I would make an exception. So to my shock when I’m the next day I get an alert from Experian saying X1 had pulled my credit! This is exactly what o didn’t want, another credit card inquiry on my credit report. To say I was heated is an understatement. I went online and found reviews of people saying this had happened to them and they also read and were under the impression that this card was only a soft pull. I wish they would be more transparent and say that they also pull you credit after you are approved. I still would have applied but probably would have waited until another time when I hadn’t just had my credit pulled for something else…
I have to say I was very impressed with this card. I loved everything about it. I’ve had the card now for about a year. The only think I’m disappointed on is the redemption value. Cash is 60% to the dollar and most place require more than one point to equal the cash value. What’s the point of giving 2 points to the dollar if it requires that to redeem for cash? The overall functionality is great and the card is beautiful but doesn’t quite exactly sound the same as they say it should!
I’ve been a card holder since shortly before they left ‘beta’. I’ve really never had an issue. I’ve had to contact support a few times for questions regarding promos or my account, and they have been helpful and decent. Having the text chat is super nice as it is fast. I have not had any issues with credit limits or billing after the sell to Robinhood either.
I’m not the biggest fan of how they monetize the product now. For example, you have to pay monthly to have an auth user with access to X1Card and credit reporting… otherwise they only get a card This isn’t really BAD, as it is on par with the norm, but it feels bad since you expect those things.
Overall, good financial product and I’ve enjoyed the metal card 😏
Hate to see that this card didn’t work for some people because this is my favorite credit card to use out the bunch I have. X1Card is super appealing, they give big credit lines, and it’s easy to accumulate cash back. I’ve never had any issues with transactions or making payments. If your on the fence about applying for this card because it’s not coming from the Chase’s, AMEXs, Capital Ones, etc.. of the world, don’t be scared! Highly recommend!!
Very simplistic and clean, looking application, which allows you to simplify your life. And a time where everything is hidden and made hard to take advantage of the benefits. It’s nice to see a Card doesn’t care about having you jump through hurdles to get cash back. He clearly shows anytime you make purchases or cash back. It is easy to make payments into add other card members. It is easy to add a partner and not have to show all purchases, which is great during the holiday season ! Very excited about my new metal card and would refer anyone who asks.
I am disappointed with credit limit, it will not cover all of my autopay accounts. On the other hand, impressive point programs, I think the Friday choice day, for gas, food etc,
Is pure genius. Looking forward to“Pound “ the Points!!! Great Card . This makes my Fourth Metal card I love the laser logo. Can’t wait to tap it on the bar and get the party folks ‘Asking what card is That ? I’ll text you the addy. If she is a crazy 8 on the ten scale
I say, hey let’s sit down And I’ll Hook You up!
I love the Referral Points. Thanks guys
I’ve been using the X1 app and card for a few months now. I’m really impressed with the user interface and the engaging weekly rewards multiplier boosts. The X1 card has quickly become my go-to card because of how fun X1Card is at helping me maximize reward points compared to the next leading card in my wallet. Plus, today when I had a technical support question, they answered me via text with a solution that worked on my first try! Can’t think of too many apps these days that deliver that type of service. Kudos!
I’ve only had my card for a few weeks now but the customer service has been hands down the best I have ever had to deal with! The fact that I can text the company and have a real person text me back within a very short time period and have a nice conversation to handle my needs says a lot! I hope they never lose this close interaction with their customers! And I really liked the sleek presentation when getting the card. You have a lifetime customer here after only a handful of interactions!
I’m not one to write reviews, but these people deserve some recognition. Every detail of my experience so far with X1Card and company has been unbelievably smooth. It’s been so smooth I’m kind of still waiting for the ball to drop. Like, their has to be a catch. Applying is smooth. The card shipment was quick and smooth. X1Card setup is crazy slick. Setting up auto payment is simple, fast, and for the first time ever for me, you even have options about how often you want to pay (and you even get rewarded). They’ve left no stone unturned. A lot of hard work went into this and it shows.
This is what every card has to be. I was approved and the card got added to my apple wallet immediately. Excellent. Next the card allows me to create virtual cards on the fly in such an effortless manner that I can only wonder why the other banks are not offering this feature.
Additionally the card provides the best points out there. So far I would use CITI double cash for everything which would give me a 2% cash back.
With x1 after you spent 15k you get 3% back that you can spend within a vast number of places. Highest points return card with no limit on categories. Spend anywhere and get 3% back.
Love it so far. The rewards are pretty basic. The metal card and marketing around that is gimmicky, but the virtual and one-time cards feature is a game changer. I know a couple of other providers like Cap One let you know virtual cards, but no one makes it this easy. I have slowly moved all of subscriptions to X1. One subscription per virtual card. That way I can keep track/cancel as I need. Game-changer. The one-time use card is also fantastic for shady websites. I think Apple Card has a similar feature where you “refresh” card numbers each time, but that’s much more finicky to use. I prefer this design. Overall, very happy with this. Didn’t even cost me a hard pull, highly recommend.
GREAT app. So refreshing to see a credit card company focusing on building a viable everyday card with a user friendly app. I use this as my everyday card now, and anticipate getting 3x points for the year. That alone (since it can apply to EVERY purchase once you pass the spend minimum) makes this a better option than the Apple Card, Citi double cash, or other 2% cards. I also really like the trial cards and one time use cards.
