Not talk therapy

Be aware this program does not offer traditional psychotherapy. Any connection with a human being is primarily to get you situated with the program and then to check in about the program. It’s not about working through specific issues, etc. I felt misled about what I was signing up for and lost time and money that I could have spent connecting with an actual therapist to talk through current life transitions. It’s not what this is about.

Don’t bother

Really there is so much better free content out there on the Internet. Don’t bother with MeruHealth. The information is incredibly basic and not presented in a very dynamic format. There are no real useful tracking tools. And the little breathing exercise gets and godly boring.
If you need help or looking to find ways to be more mindful and less depressed, please reach out and find resources. Just don’t waste your money on this one.

Issue with the app/ program

It’s hard to tell when the new programs will come up and to track completion of tasks. Moreover the person providing instruction is not the best relaxed one and there should have been voice only option with 2-3 different presenters instead of video of someone talking to you. The “therapist” did not provide any warning or feedback on progress before marking my program complete. Waste of 7 weeks

Therapy with conditional help

I signed up for the program and I had a traumatic event happen the weekend before I could start the program. They kindly gave me a week later to start. I really needed help managing anxiety and depression at the time. I connected with the therapist or so I thought. The first week helped me. I messaged the therapist about my troubles and they kicked me out of the program. They didn’t offer a different therapist. The email to cancel said it was my choice! Then they charged me $100 after getting money from my insurance company. I found a real therapist and they couldn’t believe this company would do that to a person in need of a service they clearly advertised.

Just got my bill nearly a year later

Just be warned. Every week I was in this program, i was charged $40, and apparently it was not collected along the way. I just got a bill for $500. This is highway robbery for the level of service I was provided: a sentence a day from a therapist reminding me to do a 5 minute activity (by the way, just download FitMind or Headspace for much better and more cost efficient activities).

There is no way this program warrants thousands of insurance dollars. It’s insane and should be illegal to take advantage of people struggling with their mental health like this.

Not what you think

This is not an app to get therapy. This is an app that walks you through a 12-week “self guided”(except not) mindfulness program. There is a “therapist” who is there to nag you to do the lessons, and to have one or two check in appointments with, but they are not getting to know you or able to help at all.
And spoilers, week 9 is about food. As in, changing your diet to meet arbitrarily moralized health benchmarks, laden with anti fat, anti food, fear mongering disinformation. As someone who has struggled with disordered eating, this came with no warning at all and was deeply triggering and upsetting.

DO NOT recommend

I had an introductory call and did not agree with the diagnosis then decided not to proceed. How do you get an diagnosis in less than an hour of talking to someone?? That makes no sense whatsoever but its the only way they get paid. They promised me that given I’ve decided not to proceed that they will not move forward with my insurance. Fast forward to today there’s a claim on my record with that exact diagnosis. I guess they went ahead (against my wishes) to get themselves paid. Extremely disappointed in my experience w them.

Seek a professionals advice before downloading

Thought this would have a more hands on communication element but was more like taking a class in mindfulness 101. Care specialist seems to only care if you do the correct amount of sessions required so they can bill you not how you feel or are progressing. I feel scammed by how little support I felt until I complained. Then I heard some were paying $500 out of pocket for this and now I know these people are criminals

Feels like a Scam

There is no one size fits all for mental health but I thought it would be valuable to offer my experience with MeruHealth. I was going though a rough patch in my life and was looking to find a remote therapist. MERU HEALTH IS NOT THAT. The interaction you get with an actual therapist is slim to none. I found that most of the program was pretty cookie cutter and didn’t feel personal to me or my situation. On top of this they will charge you absurd prices just to have an initial call to see if it’s even a fit for you.

I cannot in good conscience recommend Meru to anyone struggling with mental health. Not only did I lose a bunch of money and time with this company but it actually made my mental health worse.

Please do you research and find a therapist that will actually meet and understand your situation.

Low quality content, hard to see the overall use

MeruHealth is extremely badly developed and looks like one of those apps that were actually HTML pages from the early iOS days.
Clearly I didn’t come for MeruHealth though but for the overall mental health program, unfortunately this program follows suit and I’m having troubles seeing how this is any helpful the way it is designed right now. You watch a couple of videos staring at a woman wildly waving her hands and explaining to you a single topic every day of the week in different words, then you ger to clip on a “biofeedback” device which is really just a HRV meter and you do breathing exercises while trying to keep the sensor calm.
I have to say that my therapist doing the intro call actually was very good and friendly, unfortunately, my contact with her is now limited to chat and seems to be completely separate from the rest of the program. I wouldn’t do it again

Meru

The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because the heart rate variability device that I received from them doesn’t work and it is taking a while for them to replace it. They plan to replace it thought.

Small easy steps.

I have enjoyed the program because of the easy to follow instructions and small steps of progression.

Such a great asset!

I have really enjoyed having the Meru health app literally in my back pocket to support me in my mental health growth journey. This is a very transitional time in my life both personally and professionally. Having the day reflections, meditations, and activities has helped me stay focused on my journey.

Great program

I found this program helpful and was formatted in a way that was easy to navigate and understand.
As with most things, it’s not a one size fits all approach and you get out of it what you out into it.

Life changing

Thank you MeruHealth and my wonderful therapist Jan! I can’t get enough! Everyday I have the tools to face my day, my emotions, and how to be more present. I am still learning and have so much to do still in this healing journey. MeruHealth and my therapist have change my life for the better.

New attitude

This is a unique opportunity for me to learn about the topic of mindfulness. One of my colleagues told me today that she enrolled in the 12 week program also. We have a state wide meeting next month and she said we could talk about the program and show attendees how it works. Glad to be participating.

A Must Try

I love MeruHealth. The therapist are amazing and the exercises are easy to go through. You will not be disappointed.

Updating after Bug Fix

As mentioned in a previous review, MeruHealth has been amazing, and the support from the therapists has been extremely professional. I’m almost complete with the program and I’m noticing much more about the habits that I inadvertently picked up because of my brain being on autopilot. Each time I notice them, if it’s something that needs improvement, I’m able to leverage the tools MeruHealth provides to work to change those habits.

Omg

I am in the middle of the third week of the program, but I have to say I am shocked at some of the improvements I am noticing. My sleep is noticeably better, and I am sleeping through the night most nights. This is an incredible change, because, prior to Meru, I would wake up four or five nights out of seven, at 2:30 or 3 am ish, and not be able to go back to sleep. I am also seeing some positive improvements in mood and motivation. Like I say, it’s early on, but I am incredibly impressed and, definitely want to continue with Meru.

Love Meru

This is fantastic . You think it's simple and easy but it's not . When you have anxiety living in the moment is difficult . It's like training or learning to breast feed we are not born with these abilities we have to be taught . Thank you for developing this program , it is helping me.
