Wonderful product, but—

this app’s easy to use and from what I’ve seen thus far apparently wonderful customer service. However the one thing that is making me give four stars instead of five is how it’s causing me to monitor too much information. My parents and I each have accounts all in the same bank, however I want to be able to have the option to not monitor their information as well as my own. I know which transactions are mine and I also understand that this app needs access to financial accounts to work properly, but I would like to be able to monitor just my own accounts under the same bank, rather than everyone else—truebill used to provide this with the option to “hide” the other accounts and ignore them since they were not mine. Please provide this in a future update. It would be much easier for me to monitor my own individual finances that way.

Additionally; providing an option for a yearly subscription on Aura store would be preferable to paying $10 per month. Less expensive that way.

Review on my identity theft protection

The major drawback is. The alerts are not in real time. That is very critical for me. If a transaction is in the pending status. You will not get notified that a charge or withdrawal has been made on any accounts that are being monitored. So technically someone can make charges to your credit cards or even without money from a account. And until the transaction is completed you will not be aware it. And in the meantime the money would have been withdrawn and credit/ debit card transactions would have been withdrawn from your account. This is a major problem. That is why I prefer to start with a monthly subscription versus paying it annually. Because you can see any potential defects and decide to cancel if you choose to and not be out of paid in full subscription in full and only lose a monthly payment and cancel at any time if you choose to.

Jump through hoops

I had an this app subscription a couple months ago or so, and I had canceled the subscription for whatever reason. Now, when coming back, I go to log into my account and it won’t let me, stating that since my subscription has been cancelled , I have to call customer service. Customer service helped me set up a “new” account even though I already had one . It only gave me the option for a free trial because it was under the impression my account was new. It accepts payment for 2 weeks free trial then 15$ a month after . I get into the account , check some stuff on Aura , then go back to check about a half hour later, it’s logged me out and giving me the same “call customer service prompt “ and canceled my subscription because I had already apparently used my free trial. Any other site would have recognized me as an already active account, let me resubscribe no problem, and be about my day. Instead I’m jumping through hoops. Taking my business elsewhere

Easiest credit monitoring system

I started using this app after watching the Anthony O’Neal show. He shared his experience using it so I tried it. I’m glad I did. this app’s credit alert system is easy to use, they are quick to respond when you call, customer service is really nice and this app makes it easy to understand your activity. When you lock your credit they also alert you to inform you of the attempts to view your credit and they inform you they blocked their entry. I also like the dark web monitoring and the personal data base monitoring. It’s a great app to use.

Useful

Great product but need some work still. Two main issues is the Red Flag Transactions and the VPN. There should be a way that once you check a transaction that is over the threshold, you should be able to remove the red flag if its a valid transaction. It would be pointless to raise the threshold amount for a charge that is only once in a while because then if there is a fraud charge that is a lower amount then it doesn’t get flagged. Its very annoying to go in and see all these red dots on transactions that you have already deemed valid, how are you supposed to note the ones that are not valid if you can’t remove the red dot on the valid ones. I had to remove the VPN from my phone as it kept affecting my Wifi and slowing down or freezing some of the apps I use. You should be able to have a VPN that will protect your phone without affecting how everything works.

The service is OK, the app not so much

The service is pretty much as advertised. Telephone support staff are friendly and seem like they genuinely want to help. One issue has been addressed and fixed. The this app app is another story. On both an iPhone and an iPad, as soon as I tap anything in the Identity tab, the screen goes black and Aura is unresponsive. This is not an issue when using the website on a Mac desktop, so apparently is an iOS problem. this app was notified of this 3 days ago. So far no reply. I still have a fair amount of time before the free trial period ends. If this app or it’s app developer do not respond I’ll just cancel and move on.
Update: Here we are quite some time later. After a couple of phone calls, no fix. I was assured that the “tech team” was working on a fix and that they would be returning my call. That never happened. The trial period expired and I had to let this app go with no resolution to the iOS problem. So much for customer retention.

All-in-one data and identify protection

this app is pretty baller. You get VPN, data protection, credit score tracking, and much more involving your identity on and off the web.
It’s standard price even by monthly purchasing, is basically the standard for some VPN’s which don’t do all the extra stuff. Their employees are also available for any issues if you prefer to call about them, rather than email.
They’ve helped tremendously with data brokers already and the VPN is stupid nice for Netflix and such.
Literally the best on the market currently, and I’m happy I opted into their services.

Feeling Confident & Secure

I only got Aura because of Perogi from Scammer Payback, and already I feel so much better about my safety online.

I’ve used Malwarebytes for a few years, and that has helped amazingly, but now I feel even safer with my information since this application keeps my information from the dark web and protects my identity. Technology definitely has its advantages, and this is one of them.

Thanks to Perogi for protecting people like us, and for allowing an application like this to be partners with him and his work. Truly life savers

Surprisingly Good!

I dumped LifeLock because they were expensive and the overseas tech support was difficult to deal with. Tried Identity Guard, which was cheaper, but their iPhone app was terrible — unusably bad. However their tech support was US based and they promptly refunded when I cancelled service, so points there.

When cancelling IG, the rep asked if I wanted to subscribe to this app instead. Apparently, they are owned by the same company. I said No, but did check it out and subscribe later. I’ve been pleasantly impressed by the service.

1. Much cheaper than LifeLock and with current deals, cheaper than Identity Guard too.

2. IPhone app works and allows user to archive transaction alerts.

3. Design looks bare but actually offers quite a bit, including VPN and password vault.

I’m left wondering why Identity Guard exists if this app is part of the same company.

For the moment, I’m pleased with this app. Would love a more obvious UI that offered easier access to all the features, but for now…it’s fine.

Good Protection

I’ve been using this app for two months now I love the security that it is online. I was a victim of identity theft so now I’m very careful when I’m online I use my VPN 24 hours a day. They will alert you if someone try to uses your social or anything that comes up as underneath your Social Security number in your identity they will let you know right away with alert. They will protect and secure your information I feel comfortable now. I will remain a customer as long as I continue to be protected.

All the benefits of LifeLock, plus more and better price

I tested out both LifeLock and this app, and I found that this app alerted me faster than LifeLock and alerted me to more potential fraud. Additionally, this app had more features like a VPN and automatic removal of personal information from websites like Spokeo and WhitePages, while LifeLock required additional costs on top of their already high cost for the same things. The customer service at this app answered my questions better than LifeLock. I am recommending this to my friends and family.

Peace of mind.

this app has every aspect of my personal, and financial information covered. From data breaches to the dark web I am in good hands. I recently learned one of my passwords was in a data breach. I’m grateful this app notified me, and I’m able to change it before any damage was done. Also the ability to add a family member is a great. My mom is up there in years, and struggling to keep her finances etc straight. Signing up for this app has been a blessing! Thank you this app, Margaret.

Fantastic ID and antivirus software

Love the Antivirus and Identity theft software. Easy to set up. We have both Mac and Windows laptops that we use. Software for the antivirus was easy to download and set up. I love the VPN software. Scan runs fast in the background. The identity software gives ease of use and simple to set up for our accounts, giving us great notifications. The only thing I would like is antivirus software for the IOS. Overall, great product.

Great! One suggestion

Aura is great especially because it removes all of your data from data brokers! I've been meaning to remove myself from those sites but this seems a lot simpler. One recommendation is to have the ability to whitelist certain financial institution so you don't receive notifications when getting paid, etc.

By

So far so good

App & co. doing everything promised. I am getting notifications as requested. I appreciate being able to talk to a live human 24 hours a day. It offers me peace of mind and the ability to look into nefarious transactions. Being charged for $24 for “ my chipotle” order in Florida one night was terrifying and shocking and is how I ended up subscribing to this app. I have peace of mind knowing that this app is watching out for me and my identity to the best of it’s ability.

Identity Theft Management with Ease

Signed up for this app. Love how simple the UX is. And how simply it works. Monitoring your vital digital ecosystem all in one dashboard. Alerts yuh of existing threats and compromises from the Dark Web in an instant. Love how it monitors your bank accounts, credit cards, identity and how it ties your credit scores to alert you when new credit cards are opened in near real time (within the hour)

By

Close to good, but clunky

Password manager works but sometimes requires multiple logins and is slower than others I’ve used. When creating a new login, there is no option to create a random password. Antivirus and vpn are the same. Works, but disconnects internet connection when starting up computer or turning on the vpn. Needs an ad blocker option for the price. Data breach and security alerts are helpful and have cleanup some information.

Excellent service!

I have been using this app for a few weeks now and I feel very safe online now! I signed up originally because I was scammed and my personal information was leaked online and with this service already several leaks have been plugged. Customer service is fast and so friendly! this app is worth every penny!

By

So far, so good.

Can’t give 5 stars yet, because I just set it up. But, customer service was excellent and I was not on hold, or in “robo-voice world” forever. Would have helped me to have a bit more explanation during set up as to why certain offered features may or may not be necessary for my situation. Not all of us are super tech-savy, or really know what is necessary in this day and age of full-time, tech-savy, _ _ _ hole criminals.

Review

Great except when i called this morning i was disconnected twice. This is inconvenient. My time is valuable and it makes me re identify myself. I dont mind really, however, this all stresses me. Therefore, like i say it ads to my stress and anxiety. Why does this happen? Please check. Other than that everyone is very nice and helpful. Thank you Jodi l Campbell

Clunky, timed-out, a big waste of time

We had high hopes for Aura but after only one day, we will be canceling our free trial. Download Aura and it never ever loads my account information. It just keeps on saying “loading account information”. Unfortunately you can’t access your account settings online because it just takes you right back to Aura . Tried to set my daughter’s limitations but because of aforementioned issue, it wouldn’t let me change them. It does not allow for more judicious blocking either you block something entirely or not at all. Daughter’s phone would not connect to wifi while Aura was on her phone, even though the restriction is for browsing in safari, not to deny her access to wifi. As a test, I asked my daughter to remove Aura which would essentially give her full access to the internet. She deleted Aura . No notification that Aura was deleted, but still READS that her device is connected to my account. Dangerous! I tried update phones, reloading Aura , updating Aura , nothing. Bottom line—google, if you can actually believe this, has more safety features that allow me access than this service, which is sorta like saying that I’d feel safer with a psycho. Absolute garbage and a total waste of time- I spent HOURS trying to get this thing to work—all for nothing. Avoid.

4 Star App 5 Star Service

I recently downloaded the this app app and have been very impressed with the services it provides, especially the identity protection and constant monitoring. This has given me peace of mind knowing that my personal information is being protected at all times. I love that that it automatically opts out of any data brokers who currently have your information.

However, I do have a few minor issues with the actual app. For one, it does not have landscape viewing on iPad, which can be a bit frustrating. Additionally, the website seems to crash every time I try to login and set up MFA on the safari browser on my laptop. I would like to see the option to choose a country for VPN service. I would also like the desktop app to be more of an all in one stop and not just antivirus and online security.

Despite these issues, I am overall very satisfied with the service provided by this app. The identity protection and constant monitoring are incredibly valuable and make up for any minor problems with Aura . I hope that the developers will continue to improve Aura and address these issues in future updates. Thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far hahah.

Lack of Customer Service

Was thinking Aura was going to make a difference, but all in all it really just compiles information and gives you updates on when a company looks at your financials or personal information. Essentially it is the same thing for when someone views you on LinkedIn and you get a notification saying someone looked at you. The majority of the services Aura provides are all features that your bank already has as an available option. I tried to cancel 4 days before the monthly subscription date was coming up and was not helped. Then I tried to cancel and the representative kept trying to upsell me as I was trying to cancel. It felt disingenuous as I was explaining my frustration that the response was that I should spend more money with them. I was told that it is physically impossible to be refunded and was told that they could not help me at all. While having Aura , I never used it and it was just background noise. There are tons of other alternatives that are on existing apps we have with our banks. Customer service couldn’t care less. I would not recommend Aura.

Landscape view for iPads and other tablets is not enabled.

this app’s mission to help those who have become identity theft victims and worse in admirable. But, Aura developer needs to add landscape view for those of us who use iPads and other devices that must be used with that orientation to accommodate an external keyboard.
As a victim of ID Theft, I am no longer allowed by my 2 banks to use online services. I haven’t yet found a place to register my accounts in this app. Most of the world now uses online banking, but there is a growing number of victims for whom it is no longer safe to bank online. We need to add our offline bank accounts just like everyone else.
Other than my suggestions for improvement as listed above, Aura is clear and easy to navigate, and there is no crowding of features. It has ease of use for computer beginners and intermediates, as well as those who use devices other than computers.
If the above suggestions are implemented, I will review Aura again, and give it the better rating it will then deserve.

A Jack of All Trades is a Master of None

I'm going to keep this short because there is a free trial that you can use and form your own opinion. The biggest draw is its all-in-one functionality. You sign up and log in and then you are given a tour of all its services an features. Yes, it does everything it advertises but doesn't do it great. The biggest disappointment is the password manager. Unlike other services that allow you to import or save passwords as you use them, this app requires you to type everything in like you're using a secure notepad or something. The VPN is ok but lacks features that other VPNs have for cheaper. Finally, lets talk about the Data broker. I have no proof but after I canceled my membership I started getting 5-6 spam calls a day and 20 or so marketing texts. I suspect they take your info and send a removal request to every company regardless if they even have your info. Well now 500 companies know that you have a live and working number. Like I said, try it out

VPN 0/5

The VPN frequently — I mean at least once a day — shuts down the internet on my phone. And when it does that, without internet, I can’t even get on Aura to disable the VPN to get internet back. So it means I have to do all these frustrating workarounds that sometimes require uninstalling Aura altogether. And I know it’s the VPN because this problem started when I installed Aura and only occurs when the VPN is. It’s been a thorn in my side from day one. The final straw, which led to this review, was it happening while I was driving which interrupted my navigation. I had to pull over to shut down my phone and get my internet back so navigation would work again. Completely ridiculous. This problem has been going on for the entire 7 months I have had the service and I keep thinking they’ll do an update to fix it. But nope. Nothing. Still horrible VPN functionality. And I suppose I could just disable the VPN altogether, but WTH?!? I’m paying for it! So please fix it! If it means anything, I have an Apple iPhone 14 ProMax and am running the most up-to-date iOS 16.3.1.

It does the job!

I’m loving it! It informs me right away when activity happens. I think they want me to see how it notifies me. Yes. I love this! I feel like I got my life back and the healing is about to begin. My credit score is already healing. There are still other things I’m waiting for to clear. But I am very happy with this so far. Maybe I will finally get to be approved for my very own credit card for the first time in my life. Every bad score I ever had was all from someone else who wouldn’t let me be. I’ve never gotten to have a credit card with my very own name without needing a co signer. But maybe this will finally change and I’ll get a little independence for the first time in my entire life. I can finally say I don’t have to share my identity with someone else anymore.

Sparking Garden Roots

From the day of this app’s Public Announcement to my most recent login, there has been a steady increase in performance and reporting which is ground zero for all things great, and is categorically superior to any logistics operation I’ve ever been a part of. From the go, I’ve discovered that both this app and the well-oiled machine that runs this detailed crime-fighting gauntletShow no signs of slowing down, making them A one-station operational deterrent to the predators of the online shadows that Will soon have no place to hide at this app’s current pace. I feel humbled but proud to i’ve witnessed contribution according to its affect on his in speed. To continue to endorse as long as online shields of this magnitude are necessary.

Waste of Money

I’ve been using this app for several months and it continues to disappoint. The password manager feature has been broken since day 1, and customer service has done absolutely nothing to fix it. After spending 10+ hours on the phone with them over several days not one person was able to fix my issue, so I still cannot access this feature. Both mobile and PC versions are difficult to use and have had unexplained technical difficulties. I also get up to 5 emails for the same alert, which is just annoying. Lastly the vpn is basically useless, it only allows you to connect to one server, and it slows down your internet considerably. this app fails here because it tries to do too much, and it doesn’t do any one of them as good as apps that focus on just doing one really well. Hopefully in a few years time they will have worked out all the kinks, but as it sits now you’re better off using different services that actually deliver on their promises.

Free Trial Refund

Be aware, they don’t refund you after free trial. I have tried to cancel it before the billing date, the website gave me an error, so I went ahead and send them an email as instructed asking to cancel my subscription before the free trial period end. Still got charged, called multiple times and explained the situation but they simply said That they don’t give refunds if it was purchased through apple store. It makes no sense, I was charged automatically, and wasn’t specifically going to App Store and buying it. Now, I am stuck with waiting for this transaction to clear, and need to request refund from App Store only after that. The people I spoke including the supervisor didn’t care much and were kind of dismissive, like “not our problem” attitude. I actually liked Aura , but this whole interaction was really not professional. You had a error on website, you didn’t check email, and then you tell your potential customer, go deal with it on your own.

By

I’ll continue with the app as long as it keeps improving

When I first got Aura it was out of necessity. I had fallen victim of id theft and so I needed to go thru a lot of hardships to finally feel safe. this app was a big factor in helping me find my peace again. I can’t even lie I really like Aura. However I also did have issues with the vpn on my last phone and on this one. Each time I would turn it on even my Verizon service wouldn’t work but it seems that the bug has been smushed because It works now , so thank you.

Ps one suggestion is with the credit reports I would like the number of whoever is running my credit to ask them why maybe a solution incase it’s not me who’s wanting a credit report or wanting to open a new account because again it’s happened to me before.

By

I so frustrated at this point

I got this app cause my mom recommended it and so I did but I had to cancel it the first day cause it didn’t transfer my information to Aura from the website and I can do anything to change settings or anything cause it just send me to Aura which when I go to Aura I’ll sign in and it just keeps telling me to pay for a subscription which why if I already subscribed?? So fine I cancel the subscription I had on the site and I retry again but only on Aura …guess what it doesn’t recognize I paid and keeps telling me to buy a subscription literally no matter what I do so I cancel it emailed and signed out Aura and deleted Aura . I thought everything was fine cause I got an email showing the cancellations on the 19th of June and yet now I’ve seen a charge for 120$ on the 30th of June! I have the emails of confirmation that it was canceled so why am I still getting charged?

Aura, technical support shines.

I called order up for technical support. I had never called them before, so I did not know what to expect. The agent who assisted me was very patient and knowledgeable about Aura . I wanted to learn how to change my passwords from within Aura . They were able to help me do this, even though it took a little bit of time because of my lack of knowledge of Aura . The support I received was truly outstanding, and if I could, I would recommend that this agent be remunerated for their superior and highly human interaction. I could not be more happy with the support I received today. Thank you.

Trust and confidence in Aura from new Subscriber

I signed up for this app about a month ago, primarily because I’ve had a couple of credit cards that had to be replaced because of fraudulent charges, and that can be a nuisance. Also, I’ve gotten a new MacBook and I wanted antivirus protection for that.
Sign up was easy and can be done in multiple steps. Rates were reasonable compared to other security services. Communication has been excellent regarding reminders and information from this app has been helpful. The helpline has also been available to answer my questions. Good experience for a new customers!

Works, however.

Aura works fine and does what it says however i found it REALLY hard to unsubscribe like a weird scam website. Firstly you CAN sign up on mobile but you CAN’T unsubscribe from mobile. Second its relatively difficult to find the actual page to unsubscribe because it feels like they are trying to hide it deliberately. Lastly when you get past the 3 steps and offers it gives you to stop from unsubscribing and you finally click on that “cancel membership. “ it prompts an error and you have to call a toll free number and wait till someone picks up. From the phone you can unsubscribe but its so unnecessarily annoying and gives me bas vibes of the company. I will be unsubscribing and i will not return.

So far, so good.

I’m giving Aura and service a try. Coming from Experian’s horrible customer service experience. I’ve had to call this app’s customer service a few times for setup and they have been awesome so far. Aura is simple but smooth and works as intended for the most part. The VPN could use some user options but is fast and good for a quick use case scenario. Current problem after two re-installs, is the new call and message protection doesn’t appear on Aura and is not active in my online family account. Already contacted customer service and waiting to see if I’ll bring it up to 5 stars.
And this app’s awesome customer service did it again. Fixed the call protection issue without drama and to my satisfaction. Thank you, you guys are awesome!

Good at first …

But found it conflicted with the VPN that comes with my service and I was constantly having to turn one off or on. They also offered a spam phone call service for an extra $5.25 a month and I had signed up for that as well. When I realized that neither were going to work for me I canceled in June. Still got billed July and august for $5.25 spam phone call part. No big deal. I called this app and spoke with a lady who assured me it had now been canceled. Fast forward to September and I got charged again. Again I call and a man said he can see I’m still being charged and he would escalate the matter to see why, but it will take up to two days to get back to me with an answer! It has been two days. It’s not the money as much as the principal. I’ve been charged three times since originally canceling and I’m still waiting for a call back.

Disappointing - Kid monitoring

I canceled within an hour of signing up. I was looking for an app to replace the Bark app I had to monitor my child’s iPhone/iPad. When I searched and saw Aura I was was ready to change right away. With the Celebrity Robert Downy Jr.’s endorsement I thought it should be good.
I downloaded and kept trying to find where to monitor my child’s devices. OooHHHH you now have to purchase the “Family” plan. UGH more money. So it went from $125 a year to $300 (monitors 5 adults and unlimited kids) a year. Um NO, I only have 1 kid I am not paying $300 and thats only what I saw I didn't even upgrade so I don’t know if there are more fees/charges once you upgrade.

I cant get over the cost to even try the kids monitoring and time limits. I only have one child and I have to pay the same that someone can monitor 3, 5, or 10 kids. Because you have to upgrade to Monitor your kids is a disappointment. I thought this was an app to help protects our kids. Going back to Bark.

I feel better with the protection but there is a lot of room to improve

I signed up for this service and it seems to do a lot for the price. But Aura can be really annoying and it seems like it should be able to “learn” over time but it doesn’t. I have to clear the same alerts every month (same paycheck every month) and it isn’t just one alert, it generates multiple alerts for the same item - very annoying. And both my husband and I have to each clear the same, multiple alerts instead of one of us being able to clear alerts for the account.

The VPN also occasionally glitches with other apps so I semi-routinely have to turn it off and restart my phone. Apps just won’t load or open at random periods of time. I have a secondary vpn that I often have to switch too until whatever bug is going on seems to clear itself and then I can switch back.

I like the concept, I appreciate having the monitoring in place, but Aura makes things frustrating.

Aura customer service understands me!

I had some questions about the protection by this app and I was glad to hear that the customer service agent was a North American, regular guy who can relate to me. I am not against speaking with people from beyond the pond, or even in Latin America, however, I have gotten annoyed talking to a gentleman one time from another major company, who spoke English and was obviously, Hispanic, he did not understand me in an English, so I asked him if he spoke Spanish and conducted the rest of my conversation in Spanish with him. I shouldn’t had to do that, but I had to because he just couldn’t understand me an English. I’m glad to see I can speak to a regular American voice who can understand English and can relate to me. He answered all my questions and helped me discover new things about this app’s services.

Not Great

As with anything there’s always something for everyone. Aura is difficult for me to work with.
The main reason I wanted to try Aura was because I get countless calls per day from scammers, telemarketers, and robots that I unknowingly signed up for.
After experiencing most of the 2-week free trial they gave me, I don’t think I will be purchasing anything in the future.
Please note, they do not give you an estimated time span for how long it might take to successfully remove your information from certain companies. At least not that I know of and it’s hard to research it. My information has not been successfully removed from any of the companies they claim have it.
Lastly, there are quite a few requests that have been “paused” and I cannot figure out how to get them unpaused. There is always a text bar that I can write in but no prompt for what needs to be there so no progress gets made on those specific companies.
When I tried contacting this app’s support team, the “chat” button does not work at all.
I’m very grateful for the free trial experience, but I would not recommend Aura if you’re going to use it to request removal.
It seems to work on the other services, as they found a data leak for an account I made seven years ago and had no idea I even had an account with that website.
So at least they’re good at finding leaks, but they don’t seem to be good at removing information from databases.

This app is sort of beat.

Have attempted to set up malware blocker about 4x. Just takes me on a link loop back to my own email. Trying this on a 2 week trial. App isn't great & is sort of hard to navigate. Seems buggy, although it gets great reviews? My phone is less than a year old & no issues elsewhere.

In addition to that, I was very interested in the data broker removal feature. I've had Aura for about a week now. Most of the removals are 'paused', looking for some sort of 'authentication' from me. Yet, the authentication screen is blank. No idea what info I'm supposed to be providing to unpause the removal of my info from data brokers?
Meanwhile, I've managed to get responses from many of these broker sites doing manual data removal requests in the past week. It's annoying & time consuming, but at least it's done. And, let's all be honest-most of us really use apps like this for this exact feature in the 21st. Aura, especially considering the price, will be a hard pass from me.

You do too much, Aura

I am genuinely baffled at how highly rated Aura is. I wanted safety features for PC gaming and filtering inappropriate content on my child’s iPhone. What I’ve gotten for my money is a pushy PC app gag wants to run the show, an iOS app that pesters INCESSANTLY to turn on the VPN that breaks other apps, and…no alerts from my kid’s gaming. She’s a good kid but there is NO way after all this time I haven’t gotten a single alert from her time on Roblox. Every time I open Aura on my phone, it acts like it’s never seen me before and makes me sign in. Sometimes it firehoses me with alerts that it hasn’t seen my kid active on her phone when she’s standing there using it. Then radio silence for weeks.

Aura tries to do way, way too much. Some of it is home grown, some has been added through M&A activity. This thing runs a VPN, it MITMs game chat, it operates at ring 0 on our PCs, and we hand it our PII so it can monitor for it on the dark web. (I’ve never gotten an alert for that, either, and my data is definitely out there.) We are handing the keys to our personal kingdoms to a buggy app whose supply chain gives me the ick. Can I get an SBOM?

I’m well past the point of being able to legitimately ask for a refund, but I’m cutting my losses and not renewing.
