Incorrect data and no support

2024-09-15

A few weeks into using Athlytic , my training load focus drastically changed and a lot of my data was missing or misrepresented on the charts and dashboards. I reached out to the developer but no real support was provided. Concept for Athlytic is great and I want to continue to support it but I can’t trust the interpretation of the data.

Update after developer response:
There is a difference in responding to my emails and actually helping to support and fix the issue reported. To provide context for anyone reading this review, my training load drastically changed unexpectedly one day. Even though I was doing cycling and strength workouts that took me into zones 3,4 and 5. The data was completely missing from my training load. One of the developers responses was…

“The numbers are your most recent based off the last 30 days so it changes. Thank you!”

There is a bug in their program that is inaccurately reporting things like training load and other metrics. I made it clear that I would be more than happy to help them debug and figure this out because if it is happening to me, I’m sure it is happening to other users.

I’ve uninstalled Athlytic and requested a refund. I told them Athlytic is a great concept but has bugs that they are unable or unwilling to fix. I’ll be more than happy to increase my review from a 1 star if they do fix it. But their support still leaves a lot to be desired.

Horrible

2024-10-14

I was so tired of wearing two bands with Whoop, along with the $30 monthly fee, so I was excited to use this app. THIS IS NOT WHOOP. I have a really stressful life and I tend to over do it if I’ve gained a couple of pounds. I hate that the Apple Watch doesn’t take sleep or previous workouts into account … instead it yells at you to get your active calories done every single day so I bought whoop and kept the Apple Watch for notifications. This is worse than an Apple Watch. I can’t get out of the “light zone”, even when I lift weights, with high interval cardio in between sets for over an hour + run for an hour … I burn 2500 calories a day .. and I still couldn’t get out of “light”. Because I’m obsessive, I was killing myself even more, to just get to … the light zone. At the same time, I was north of 1k active calories. I understand the Apple
Watch might be giving me more credit but I shouldn’t have to workout out 2-3 hours to feel like I’m failing. I can only hope Apple eventually buys Whoop and it’s all on one device.

Good app with lots of potential

2024-02-11

Started using this after using whoop for 3 years when I got tired of their 30 a month fee App has a lot of potential but can not be compared to whoop which is more advanced accurate and slick. But it’s not a fair comparison as whoop is a massively funded company with a ton of people while this seems like a single developer app . So kudos to them as they don’t have the financial resources of whoop or their access to actual medical research and people

Find it useful for the actual workouts which I find even better than whoop The recovery I feel needs quite a bit more work. They don’t incorporate sleep into it. Also not sure using mindfulness with deep breathing is the best way to collect the hrv as that is not how most people breathe normally .

Eventually apple needs to fix sleep tracking battery and hopefully provide a native fitness and recovery app as all the info is from apple sensors.

Great app. Metrics aren’t always right

2023-12-01

Overall, I love Athlytic and the idea behind it. Having used a whoop for a couple of years, my hope was that this would be a like for like replacement as I moved to the Apple Watch Ultra. However, I found that its sense of my recovery levels, and therefore recommendation for intensity of training is off quite often. I might have a terrible night sleep, and wake up, feeling totally wrecked, and it will tell me I’m highly recovered. I might have a good night sleep, strong, HRV, and it tells me I’m overtrained when I wasn’t intense the day before. It may know something, I don’t, of course, but I didn’t see this disconnect with my Whoop, so I’m skeptical. I think with more time, and more data, it will get better. I’m willing to give it a try. Athlytic is nice, is very reasonable, so I’m hopeful for the future. For right now though, it’s hard to give more than three stars given this issue.

Great App and Concept

2024-09-25

Love it and excited to keep using it.

Please keep up the good work. I’d like to see more features to compete with whoop and oura.

Also please note on version 5.3.0 iPhone 15 pro max, the More tab needs some vertical padding or margin at the bottom of the scroll view!

I’m ready to give Athlytic 5 stars if we see some polishing of the features and UX.

I think the Today tab could offer more content and make each piece of content larger, as well as display previews of charts.

The Trends tab is great but I also wonder why data such as “steps” among other things is found there and not in a general dashboard, like the today tab. Would it be worth having a set of recommended preset layouts on a dashboard view? Would that be the today tab?

The workouts parent view is also a bit clunky with the workouts being a scroll view occupying half of the whole view, with the chart in the upper half. The details view of the workout themselves are excellent though.

I’m not sure what the purpose is behind a workouts summary view. It’s nice, but I’d prefer to see Athlytic focus more on health diagnostics, health status reporting, health predictions, health suggestions, etc. Browsing workouts is cool but not in isolation. It should be integrated with the health status reporting experience.

I hope this helps! I think we need more 3rd party software that can replicate these proprietary options like Oura and Whoop.

Excited about Athlytic!

2024-04-24

I’ve had an Apple Watch for years but got a whoop band earlier this year. The monthly subscription quickly became old- especially considering I was still wearing my Apple Watch for the Watch purposes and it can do everything the whoop does. Coming off of whoop, I was looking for something to track recovery and effort given throughout the day. this app does everything and more! I’m glad I found this because I can use my watch but also have a powerful fitness tracker on my wrist now also. I’m also excited it is still early for Athlytic so I’m looking forward to where it can go. The frequent updates are good because I feel they actually listen to what people are asking for.

If I had to change anything, I would say make Athlytic more of its own. It looks similar to the Apple health app in some ways and I would like to see a fresh look just to separate itself more. Also, I love the new chart under the trend tab. The only thing is the recovery vs exertion tab is the only one you can press and slide to see more specific times. I think if all the charts were like this, it would be an even better experience. It would be nice to press and slide on heart rate throughout the day or workout to get a deeper insight. Overall, Athlytic has everything and as mentioned earlier, I’m glad I found it early on and can’t wait to see it continue to improve and grow!

Love this app

2024-03-12

When I exercise, I am all about the metrics. I even use a white board to write down goals and workouts, then I take a picture of the completed board at the end of each month so I can look back and know what I’ve done month after month and how I trended week to week. Athlytic takes my tracking to a whole new level. Just the Exertion Zone alone has radically changed my schedule, which before was more or less guesswork. Now I know when I need to rest, or when I’m not working hard enough, and how to train for the right balance. I was about a day into Athlytic when I realized I could skip the free trial and buy the yearly subscription. I haven’t regretted it. There is a bit of a learning curve, and I’m still learning all it can do, but I am utterly sold.

Awesome.

2024-03-26

this app has the metrics dialed right in. I’m currently ramping up my training regimen in time for summer and have been using it to help “coach” me on how hard or easy to push myself on a 5-day-on, 2-day-off exercise regimen. Every day where I feel well-rested and ready to hit the gym or track, Athlytic reflects that and recommends I train that day, and even gives suggestions on which activities I could do to help reach the exertion level it’s looking for, and every day I’ve felt underslept or recovering from the day before, Athlytic reflects that as well, and recommends I take the day off. I’ve only been using it for about 6 weeks at this point but it has quickly earned its place in my little suite of exercise apps and I already find it indispensable. 10/10 recommend.

Dramatically increases value of Apple Watch

2024-06-10

If you have an Apple Watch and are even modestly interested in health and fitness tracking, Athlytic is required. It takes data captured by your Apple Watch during sleep, exercise & regular life and overlays analysis, visualization, and reporting related to your exercise, sleep, and recovery. It is honestly much more robust and insightful than what Apple has designed themselves into Health/Fitness apps. Athlytic has regular updates and what I especially appreciate is transparency on how metrics are calculated, what data was used, and what the different metrics mean. I previously used the Apple Watch and Whoop strap but this provides superior value for 1/12 the price of whoop. For less than the price of an Apple Watch band you can dramatically increase the value you get from the watch itself. Well worth the subscription.

Amazing

2024-06-10

I spent weeks doing some pretty extensive research trying to find the best option for training. I was on the verge of going whoop and then someone suggested this app (thanks Reddit!). After comparing the two through even more research, I decided to just give it a shot because the cost alone is worth the gamble. I’m an avid Apple Watch user, I’ve been committed to it for years and I am thrilled that I don’t need to invest in anything else to track my training. I track my sleep via Sleep Cycle which, for all intents and purposes, seems to be accurate enough.

Only one (minor) suggestion and completely irrelevant to the function of Athlytic, but I’d love if there was a social media presence on Instagram for updates/ news/ etc. Not everyone is on Facebook and it would be nice to be in the know!!

Great app, very useful information!

2024-06-10

I’ve been using Athlytic for about a week after doing a lot of research into apps that may provide me the information I’m looking for when combined with my Apple Watch and various activity apps I currently use. After reading about this app I downloaded the free trial and signed up after a couple days after using it, seeing that I was getting what I was looking for. It provides all the useful info I need as a cyclist in a clear and concise way, without having to wear another device on my arm, or paying for any long term commitments. As a bonus I had a technical question that I emailed to them and got a reply back within 10 minutes and they walked me through the problem (simple error on my part). Customer service like that is invaluable!

Does most things well

2024-06-23

I have been running Athlytic side by side with both Welltory and AI Stress Monitor. Overall this is my favorite of the three. The analysis of sleep and recovery match the recovery that I feel, and I appreciate the exertion suggestions it provides My one complaint is that it doesn’t pick up heart rate from a heart rate chest strap in some applications. For me I ride Zwift with a chest strap, and because I don’t wear my Apple Watch it records zero exertion even though Strava and Apple Health record both the exercise event and the heart rate. Makes no sense to me and the developer has not provided an explanation.

Update: the developer contacted me and is helping me resolve my issue.

As in many things, Strava is the root of the issue. Strava does not play nice with Apple Health, and while Strava keeps raising prices and handling their PR in a very clumsy way, they can’t seem to sync with Apple.

Lifestyle changing fitness app

2024-06-10

My husband is an Apple Watch user but the Apple Watch fitness details is limited compared to Garmin, Strava, etc. users. Athlytic helped him understand his level of exertion from his workouts and how well he recovered (or didn’t recover). Very specific details that are unavailable in the Apple fitness app.

Athlytic calculated all of his health stats and workouts, and basically told him he wasn’t pushing hard enough.

Intrigued by this, I decided to download Athlytic as well, even though I’m a Garmin user, and surprisingly found more detailed information that I didn’t quite get with the Garmin Connect app; exertion, recommended workouts and why these workouts were being recommended.

We’ve been experimenting with the recommendations and so far I’m a pretty big fan. Mostly because I’m realizing I still have more gas in the tank than I realize and it’s probably why it’s taking me some time to get past this comfort zone I’m in.

It is definitely more Apple Watch friendly than it is Garmin with a minor issue I’ve experience. I’ve been able to overcome it with a manual workaround. Tiny amount of inconvenience, considering the overall benefit.

Wishing Athlytic creator all the best. Pretty well thought out.

A Better Whoop

2024-06-23

I rarely write reviews, but after using Athlytic for 2+ years as a CrossFit and endurance athlete, I had to give the developer proper acclaim. Not only does Athlytic turn your Apple Watch into a device with all the important outputs and data as Whoop or Aura, it does it for the fraction of the subscription cost. And, you still have an Apple Watch that does all the things you would want a smart watch to do. But the thing that most impresses me and made me finally stop to write a review is how active the developer is in continually pushing out updates that add significant new functionality and improve the UI for no added cost. Several times a year we seem to get a major update that almost makes it feel like a whole new fitness tracker environment. This is a great product period for anyone serious about training who owns an AW.

Better than Whoop/Oura at a fraction of the cost

2024-06-10

This does everything my Whoop did (and more), lets me only wear my apple watch and costs 1/12 of the subscription fee. I’ve been looking for an app like this for a year and glad i finally found it. I’m still in the early stages but since Athlytic pulled in my past data i didn’t even need to wait a month (like Whoop) to start tracking my activity, sleep, exertion, recovery, etc. so good.

I had a minor issue getting things set up on my watch (a simple restart fixed it) but the response time from the developer was almost immediate. Much appreciated.

The only aspect i learned was i need to run the apple watch workout mode when i workout so detailed HR data gets recorded (as opposed to once a minute). That makes a big difference the the exertion numbers.

Best recovery app I’ve found for Apple!

2024-06-09

I have tried a lot of apps across a number of platforms. In the end I have settled on this app as my go-to for Recovery information. I am a runner and while recovery is important in regards to my training, I care more about this information for my general wellness and day to day life.

The sleep tagging is incredibly useful for identifying patterns in what positively or negatively impacts my sleep. The recovery and HRV information is a great indicator of when I may be getting sick, overtrained, or just experiencing general body fatigue.

No algorithm is perfect. Not metric tells the whole story. But continual information that you can personalize and track over time can help you understand yourself bit by bit. this app has been the best app so far in achieving this for me.

Amazing!!!!

2024-06-10

I have been using Athlytic close to a year now and I absolutely love it! I tried WHOOP prior to using this and loved the additional data that it provided me, but had serious issues regarding data accuracy, customer service and the wearable itself. While using it I still wore my Apple Watch, so it felt redundant, but I had no idea that it tracked all of the same measurements I was just missing Athlytic! Ever since downloading Athlytic I feel so much more in tune with my own body and know how much I can push myself on any given day. I love data so having access to how my body is performing is a game changer for me!

The one thing I would love is the ability to change the sleep goal. I think mine is set at 7:30 per night and I would love to be able to change it to 8 hours or even more. (maybe i’m just missing a setting somewhere)

Absolutely Phenomenal!!

2025-02-05

My wife used a Whoop for about a week and needed to switch back to her Apple Watch for all of its other benefits. That’s when we found Athlyitc and haven’t looked back.

An absolute fraction of the price with every bit of functionality and useful data to influence your training decisions while keeping the usefulness of your Apple wearable intact.

The best part?? CONSTANT new features, design improvements, and candid listening by the developer(s) on Instagram and App Store reviews. Athlytic already has the functionality to replace Whoop and other wearables for 99.9% of the population and continues to outpace them on leveraging data and analytics that continue to become available via Apple hardware. 10/10 recommend.

Best in class!

2024-06-10

I have never felt the need to write a review for an app in the past, but Athlytic deserves to be seen.

Over the years I have used several fitness devices long-term, Whoop, Garmin Forerunner 945 and Oura for sleep. I recently decided to give up Garmin and try Apple Watch to see how the data would fit my lifestyle. I was by no means impressed with Apple Watch as-is, thankfully I stumbled upon Athlytic, and was blown away.

I have been using Athlytic for 3 days so far, and I am very impressed with the data that is presented within Athlytic itself. The overall metric reporting and presentation of data is similar to Whoop, which I love because it’s familiar. It’s very clean and the graphing is very nice, it even syncs with Cronometer and updates my caloric intake vs output.

The only critique that I have (being a designer myself), the design could use some tweaking to make it feel more premium and consistent. There are a lot of text heavy elements, and wasted space in sections with too much space between elements. Athlytic could feel very premium with some minor graphic organization and updating of some data presentations.

Overall- I absolutely love Athlytic, I will subscribe for the year, and it may just be the tool to keep me using Apple Watch as my main fitness wearable. Excited to see where the developers take Athlytic!

Great analytics

2024-06-10

Athlytic gives such great insight on when to recover, when to keep pushing, how your workout affected your body that day, and what you should do to keep going based on the set training intensity you select. I will say that some of the analytics can get a bit in the weeds if you’re not an athlete or a fitness professional. But it can still greatly help even for the everyday person. Especially love that it pairs so well with Apple Health/Fitness apps and the Apple Watch. I also went one step further and downloaded a food tracking app that works well with apple health; this then auto updates in Athlytic and tells you where you stand with calories in versus calories out (low key my favorite feature, so useful). Also enjoy the sleep insight and how I sleep is calculated into what level of effort (or exertion) I should aim for that day. Overall great app and definitely going to keep my subscription going on it.

Data Good, crashing bad

2024-06-09

Just started using Athlytic as I’m considering switching over from whoop. It’s a bit harder to understand, but has a lot of good info. Definitely missing some functionality that whoop had (strength training regimens built in, correlating journal activities / tags with sleep/recovery), but not otherwise really solid.

One annoying issue is that if I click back to any historical data on the calendar, Athlytic crashes. Makes it pretty difficult to review what I actually did on a prior day.

That said, the developer (Gary) responded to me within a day or so when I reported the issue. Despite not being as built out as it could be one day, I’m giving this five stars because Gary is a rockstar. Wild that he built this on his own.

Amazing.

2024-06-10

I have to say I have used, Garmin whoop, apples watches and everything else I could get my hands on. I loved Garmin but also love the simplicity of an Apple Watch and how it works into my day to day life. Athlytic has connected me to the best of both worlds for Garmin and Apple. On long workout outs or weekends away I tend to use my Garmin watch.

Day to day workouts durning the week I use my Apple Watch. Athlytic syncs both for me. It’s amazing.

I love the layout and simplicity of Athlytic. Man it just brings recovery and exertion to a whole new level. Health and wellness are all about finding a good balance. The best endurance athletes in the world spend 80% of their workouts in lower zones of exertion and Athlytic really helps me see where I am each day with my training. When to push a little more and when to let my body heal. This developer needs to be seen and Athlytic needs the recognition it deserves. App is CONSTANTLY UPDATED. Great, great job guys. Keep up your amazing work.

Fantastic🥳

2024-06-10

I very rarely have written reviews on apps, but I had to in this case. I signed up for the paid version last August, and since then this has become the first app I check every morning to see my recovery score, log my items from the day before, and compare with how I feel. It’s certainly modified my behaviors to try to improve my recovery and sleep performance, and the data from workouts using my Apple Watch is summarized in a fantastic and easy to understand way. My wife was hesitant at first, but now she is also obsessed with Athlytic and uses it daily as well. The developer is responsive if you have any issues, and he’s consistently released new features and updates that have improved the overall experience. Widgets on iOS are great, and I’ve got a couple on my lock screen, and then the widget panel just off my Home Screen. I had debated Whoop for a long time, but couldn’t get past the cost of switching and the monthly membership model. In the end I decided I loved my Apple Watch and this app provides me with essentially all the same information at a much more reasonable price point. I can’t praise Athlytic and developer enough, thanks for the great experience!

Fantastic App!

2024-06-10

I very rarely leave reviews for apps but Athlytic is amazing. It puts most of your health data in ONE spot to review and gives suggestions about how to improve your health, sleep, readiness, and training. It’s called “this app” but I would propose one doesn’t have to be an athlete to benefit from all the insights Athlytic provides. To be honest, I used Welltory for several months before a random Redditor asked if that app or this one was better. I loved that Welltory also put so much health data in one place and almost paid a high subscription fee for it (on sale it was like, $60/year). However the Welltory’s UI was just terrible - extremely busy and difficult to read and find the information you wanted. It also gave a bunch of extraneous “tips” without the option to toggle them off.

this app gives you just the right amount of information in a beautiful and VERY easy to understand format. I love love love Athlytic. Highly recommend. I’m fact, I subscribed before the trial period was even over 😆.

Also, I’ve had a few questions here and there and the customer support has been prompt and helpful. Great app, highly recommend spending time and money on Athlytic!

Great information for athletes

2025-09-12

I’m on my mountain bike 5-7 days per week and use my Apple Watch in conjunction with my Garmin 130 to track literally everything, 24/7. At a quick glance, this app gives me a ton of great data to actually read, rather than solely going based off how I feel. It gives you a lot of the data you get from something like a Garmin Fenix, which you’d otherwise be missing with the Apple Watch. The Revcovery% is shockingly accurate for me - I’ve had days where I’ve felt tired, even though my Recovery% is high, and when I head out on the bike later in the day, my power data indeed backs up the Recovery score. On top of all that, the developer, Gary, is also super responsive and helpful.

So good!

2024-06-10

Highly recommended for people who are working out daily or endurance athletes. Even if you don't work out daily, this is a great why you monitor how you recover and get an idea of what impacts recovery and causes you to feel sluggish. If you're coming from a band like Whoop, the biggest thing this offers is tracking of carbs and calories versus your caloric burn and helps you understand how calories in can help fuel recovery. I'm using LoseIT to track my meals, it syncs my micronutrients to HealthKit and this app reads the data from there. My only suggestions for Athlytic - Can we get a watch face widget or I think Apple calls them Complications, to display recovery percentage in the watch face? Also, can we get a journal feature like Whoop has? Something where I can check whether I've had alcohol, caffeine, melatonin, done yoga, etc and have a graph of what positively and negatively impacts recovery?

Was looking for something to take the place of Whoop

2024-06-10

I recently tried a whoop strap and loved the information it provides. I did however not like the fact it did not work with apple health nor the monthly subscription fees. After doing some research on the web I stumbled upon Athlytic. It provides a good bit of the data that the Whoop strap does but uses your Apple Watch and some other data points that you can choose yourself. Although I like what I see you can tell Athlytic is in its infancy and I look forward to the refinements and features that are ahead. I think this time next year it maybe a full fledged replacement for the data you would get with Whoop for a fraction of the price. I signed up for premium and look forward to where this goes.

Hmm, my recovery index is changing multiple times a day

2024-05-18

Despite prioritizing sleep and mindfulness my recovery is changing up to 10 times a day. It shows 80% at the wake up time and 40 minutes later 14%, then 70% and so on, jumping up and down multiple times. Love Athlytic but recently it’s very annoying.

Update:
Figured that the issue is that Oura Ring isn’t saving HRV samples to Health. Had to dig deep and create a custom Shortcut as a workaround.
Would be great to specify what other than Apple Watch sleep trackers can and can’t do. Not sure how I feel about spending my time to figure out all the nuances. However, Athlytic is excellent and it’s clear that stated in the original review issue isn’t related to Athlytic . As I fellow developer I can appreciate your work. Thank you

Use it every day

2026-01-16

Since I got Athlytic I’ve been able to take the huge amount of data in apps like Heart Watch and AutoSleep provide and use them in an easy to use way. It’s one thing to know the data, it’s another thing to make it actionable and that’s what Athlytic does so well.

If I could add one thing it would be for Athlytic to give me an idea of how long my workouts will be to hit my target exertion goal based on historical workout data. That would make it easier to plan my day. I often find I’m chasing the exertion ring, but fall just short of it when I could have gone another 10 mins to close it.

Keep up the great work. To those on the fence, to me this was a worthy purchase.

Good alternative to WHOOP for Apple Watch users

2024-10-14

this app is an easy alternative to WHOOP for people that like Apple Watch over other fitness trackers. I appreciated WHOOP’s presentation and analysis, but this app provides much of the same information and works nicely with Apple Watch. It was quite annoying to wear two devices at once. I did it for a year to compare the two and the metrics they provided generally trended the same so I’m pretty confident in this app’s metrics & will be canceling my WHOOP subscription. The other big plus for me was the lack of data collection. Everything this app does is on-device, so I don’t feel like I’m the product. No one ever reads the fine print, they just click accept or use the service. With this app, I can at least feel confident that blindly accepting the terms isn’t forking over my health data to be sold, used for research, etc.

Recovery coach

2024-10-14

I tried numerous recovery apps. I almost just got a whoop to track my recovery. I was really wanting something that was cheap and I could just use my Apple Watch with. I tried the free trial of this app and knew that I found that app! Best recovery app available! Works so perfect with my Apple Watch. It gives me things I should do differently (needing to sleep more was one of my biggest problems). It gives me what workouts I should do each day, how long, and what intensity to do them. It gives my typical workouts and other workout ideas. This is the perfect workout coach app in my opinion. When it gives a recommendation such as sleeping more or eating better, listen to it! My recovery went from like 30% and I felt so horrible to yesterday for example I did two of my normal workouts and I am still at 88% recovery this morning!

Good alternative to WHOOP for Apple Watch users

Great App!!

2025-11-18

For the most part, I listen to my body - when I need to train, gauge out my volume, and when it’s time to rest. Athlytic is great because you have something to visually see and correspond with how you fell. You’re also able to correspond how to train for the day (load/volume) based on the total amount of sleep you’ve gotten. Is it accurate? Who knows?!? I think people get little hung up on “accuracy” - as it pertains pertains to something that would see subjective like, “how do I feel today?” Athlytic is a great platform to monitor what one does for activity in correspondence to the amount of rest they’ve gotten. I believe this will help prevent over-training and lead to sustainable results and a continued training life.

Great App!

2025-12-20

I’m seriously considering getting rid of my subscription tracker and using this! My only suggestion so far would be the ability to edit sleep times. Sometimes I wake up and look at my recovery and then decide to work out later in the day as opposed to my normal early AM. Athlytic read my awake time as 4 am even though I went back to bed for another 2.5 hours, so my recovery appears to be lower than my other tracker due to that. I did edit it in Apple Health but Athlytic doesn’t appear to pick up on that. Otherwise they are almost identical in comparison and I’d much rather wear less hardware! I really love Athlytic and even the inability to edit my sleep time wouldn’t deter me from using it.

Essential Training Tool!

I have always been interested in getting a Whoop to better understand my training stress and fatigue and guide my recovery, but it just didn’t make financial sense for the up front and monthly costs (especially for someone who had already purchased the Apple Watch).

But with the updates the the Apple Watch and this app, I get all that data for a much more affordable price! I love that it recommends each day’s exertion level based my recovery score, and also makes adjustments to my sleep goal based on how active I was that day.

I’m training for a half marathon after a hiatus is long-distance running, and this has been as useful a tool as my running shoes!

10-Months Review

2026-02-21

I downloaded this Apple in January 2022 and since then, I have noticed that the developer is very responsive and continues to make significant updates. Overall, I am very pleased with Athlytic and find the pricing to be very fair. I run 3-10 miles twice a week, plus do OrangeTheory Fitness (HIIT) twice a week. Athlytic helps me focus on days I should push myself and days I should hold back a bit. I use SleepWatch with Apple Health to implement the sleeping stats into Athlytic. [Note: To get sleep data, you must use a third-party app. this app does not collect this data]. A minor issues I have seen a few times is 1) the Apple Watch complications are slow to update. Even opening and closing Athlytic on the Watch doesn’t refresh it; 2) sometimes the Watch app says I need a Pro subscription, even though I do. Often, power cycling the Watch will fix this bug.

The ONLY actionable health metrics insight

This tool has changed my life. Its ability to estimate recovery, exertion, energy….all as a wholistic picture with an actionable advice has moved my training to a new level. I’m 47 and can testify that overtraining is the problem number one when it comes to results. This tool will help you prevent it if you use it smartly. Use a nutrition tracker in conjunction to get a caloric shortage/overage estimates. It will also you train you to use “Breathe” regularly to get your HRV numbers updated. That in itself will promote recovery. Most importantly, follow its advice on rest, additional workouts, etc. if you always are within it’s recommended ranges, you will see how great you’ll feel. Much gratitude to the singular developer who is working on this tool.
