3.2 out of 5

No clear Alarm function so pretty much worthless

2022-05-23

Since the closed loop system the this app has dumbed down the whole system. Multiple alarms for the same thing. If you going high and driving, can you snooze it. NOPE so you trust God to take the wheel and clear the alarm after accessing the pump. Not so bad right, hold on, as soon as you think you are out going to wreck and orphan your kids you just have time to click the pump back on and the next alarm that comes about 30 seconds later now yiu are high, then 30 seconds later tells you to calibrate, 30 seconds if you don’t calibrate will kick you out if auto, 30 seconds calibrate, 30 seconds kicking you out of auto mode - do yiu want to see the warning screen for what going out of auto mode means, click no so now else take you to a screen that tells you what you missed by not going to the what happens when you go out of auto mode so there really is no no you have to see that screen. Each one of those has multiple clicks to get out of and after about five minutes you’re finally done. Would be great if MiniMed could clear those so I could see it on my phone instead of looking down and try not to wreck my car an orphan my children over and over again because you cannot ignore this alarm it’s obnoxious constantly over and over again and you can’t clear it because each one has a different number pushes in a different number of directions before you can hit OK.

Disappointed in new version.

2022-06-24

I downloaded the new 1.2.1 version from an Email recommendation from Medtronic. WISH I had not. Every time I check my sugars on MiniMed , which is always minimized, the link is lost. The site keeps telling me MiniMed is uploading, reconnecting or MiniMed no longer connects to my phone or iWatch letting me know the alarm status for lies or highs. I relied on MiniMed sending alarms at night to my watch. I sometimes feel that before the pump. Please fix the glitch immediately or give back the old version which was always connected and accurate.
So disappointed in this new version.

Not working on iphone 13

2022-07-25

App worked fine on iphone 12, ios 15.1, but for whatever reason when I upgraded to iphone 13 and installed ios 15.2, app starts and then fades to background no matter if I start new again or just select from open apps after swiping up. Seems like a waste if it won’t work with updates to phone/software.

Terrible App and Product

2022-08-26

MiniMed does very little to improve diabetes management. It becomes “unpaired” frequently. Pairing it again is a cumbersome process. Still trying to pair it before my endocrine appointment this morning so we can review my extreme lows.
The closed loop system drops me all day long and into the night to below 40.
It is not fun to wake up to EMTs staining down at you after you nearly died from hypoglycemia…again.

MiniMed Mobile

2022-09-27

MiniMed does not work on iPhone 13 max. It takes you to the carelink website WHICH is not the mobile app. You need to fix this NOW or stop advertising it for people interested in buying the pump. Apparently you have been receiving this complaint since December 2021??? Thinking about reporting to BBB or FDA. As a type 1 this issue is very important for diabetes control. Fix the issue or delete it from App Store

Leaves huge amount to be desired

2022-10-28

MiniMed does not sync with apple health, the 770g closed loop system algorithm is not very effective. I am on very good control when on a set basal and the moment I am on the closed loop, things go crazy. Even though I have used monomer for almost 20 years, I am looking at the next option unless there are some serious improvements.

Update: over a year later and still does not work with Apple health.

Technology has been Around

2022-11-29

I find it VERY hard to believe you have no idea when a new phone comes out that you aren’t already working on MiniMed and device updates. Come on Medtronic you are failing miserably. I’ve used your devices since 2003 and quality and commitment to your patients continues to deteriorate. There truly is no excuse for MiniMed not to be working with ANY iPhone running current updated software. I will be calling the BBB and the FDA tomorrow to make safety reports.

App is not working!

2022-12-30

I checked the most recent reviews, so if you've read through them too, you can guess where this is going.

MiniMed will not boot up, constantly stuck on "Reconnecting to pump..." before it eventually gives up on it owns and refreshes. MiniMed usually does have issues with taking more than a minute to reconnect with my pump after I've accidentally closed MiniMed , but this is ridiculous. It refuses to work at all.

Reconnecting to pump…Not!

2023-01-31

Got MiniMed to work a time or two with previous versions. This mew one is stuck at Reconnecting to pump….tech support said it sounds like my iPhone is defective and I should reach out to Apple. Ok, all other BT devices work fine. I’ve just given up on this crappy half baked app and am going back to the dongle for downloading data. With no Apple Watch integration, or ability to dose using MiniMed , it is my opinion MiniMed was slapped together just so Medtronic could say “see, we have BT and an app too.” Other than seeing a few hours of historical data, there is no useful functionality with MiniMed. This is all from a company that we trust has the wherewithal to design a precision device reliable enough to monitor my BG for me and micro bolus insulin accordingly. Come on guys, pump is great, MiniMed makes me cringe, yikes. If it works as expected for you five star folks, well, maybe I should head to the Apple Store cause my phone is defective after all?;)

Useless

2023-03-04

I been a type 1 for 43 years. Been pumping since 2001. Was hoping I could access my most used pump features from MiniMed. What’s the difference of looking at my phone or directly at my pump for basic info? None. So what’s is the actual point of MiniMed ? Apparently nothing. My stupid pump beeps and buzzes and is generally annoying as it is. Oh! Just imagine a world where I can manage the CONSTANT alarms from my phone! But no. MiniMed is stupid. The pump has WAY TOO MANY button pushes to get simple things done. I get it. You’re afraid some seven year old kid is going to overdose on insulin. Got it! Well, I’m 53. There ought to be a short cut mode for ADULTS that can and have been managing this nightmare disease for 43 years!! Cmon!? Btw latest iOS doesn’t support your useless app. I guess my review is moot.

Primitive Functionality, Always Disconnectinf

2023-04-02

MiniMed is constantly disconnecting, which requires an extremely slow, multi-step process every time you need to log back on. Very clunky functionality that resembles old browser navigation; not something you’d expect from a technology-forward company.

Since getting my new pump last year, I have not once been able to provide pump data to my doctor during an appointment as it’s always disconnected.

Medtronic also frequently sends out an email stating that you shouldn’t run the most recent OS updates as it may affect compatibility with their app, basically requesting they hold your device back from updates because of their apps’ technological ineptitude. It’s scary that a company this incompetent possesses your intimate medical details.

Doesn’t work

2023-05-04

Don’t waste your time and money on the pump upgrade if you want it for this feature because it never works. It worked wellish in the beginning but they seem to have an issue keeping up with iOS software updates. Every other app developer is able to upgrade app to work with each new IOS UPDATE but they are stuck on an almost year old IOS build. Something as life dependant as an insulin pump should have a better tech team to be able to keep up with new IOS builds. When it was working I would have given 3.5 stars as you can view real time sugar levels as well as on another device like your spouse or family member, great if you get lows during your sleep, bad is you can't adjust anything from app so it's just a view only and there its not compatible with apple watch or apple health app

Useless and bad alarms

2023-06-04

I can never have my alarms set to show up on my phone because it just constantly gives alarms that aren’t real. For the ones that are real, even after I’ve cleared them on my pump, they stick around on MiniMed , drastically limiting the functionality.

Wish it looked more modern and sleek

2023-07-06

MiniMed needs Apple Watch compatibility, which I assume is in the works. It’s unfortunate that MiniMed must always be running in the background for use, and that MiniMed doesn’t look very sleek at all when compared to the Dexcom app, particularly the time in range screen.

Not working on iPhone 13 Pro Max

2023-08-06

Got a new iPhone. My old iPhone XR had iOS 15, and I never had issues with MiniMed . Unfortunately on my new iPhone 13 Pro Max, when I try to open it, it looks like it’ll work, but then goes back to Home Screen. Hoping you’ll get it working soon!

Simple, doesn’t make much difference, needs a watch app

2023-09-07

MiniMed is very basic. Unfortunately it does not let you control anything on your pump. I would like to see the addition of a watch app added with this.

Love this app

2023-10-09

I love that I can whip out my phone and check the status of my pump and sensor along with all of my glucose readings.

I have a request for the developers though. I just bought an Apple Watch and would love to have MiniMed work with my watch. Having access to the information from my pump through my Apple Watch just seems like a natural progression or improvement that should be made for MiniMed

Good App

2023-11-09

This a good app for the purpose it serves. You can use MiniMed to check your BG numbers instead of pulling your phone. You can also see Act. Bolus and if you are outside of auto mode you can see Basal rate.

MiniMed will notify you when you need to check BG or calibrate. It also informs you of any highs and lows. Lastly is provides in range stats via a pie chart.

For anyone wondering, MiniMed does not provide functionality for controlling your insulin pump, ie, 770g.

The iPad app is out of date and there isn’t an Apple Watch app. Both need to be addressed in my opinion. There also needs to be an option to link to Apple Health.

Overall I give MiniMed a 5/5 for its purpose. There is room for growth / additional options.

App keeps crashing

2023-12-11

I’ve been using MiniMed for months & have liked it. I noticed today it wasn’t working. It keeps crashing & closing. I open it, then it says updating & crashes again. I have not updated operating system or anything on my phone so I don’t know why it stopped working. Update: I finally got my app to work. I had to delete MiniMed , reinstall MiniMed , restart my phone, update network settings, & delete phone on my pump then repair phone &pump Bluetooth. Sigh… it finally works again. Yay!

Please, please, PLEASE can you make a widget so I can see my blood sugar on my Apple Watch? Please!!! :)

iPhone connectivity

2024-01-11

I love MiniMed I do wish worked on my iPad so I could study it better. MiniMed alarms me at night if my pump is on vibrate under covers when sending alarm to phone i.e you and others around you can hear it. My team at work during travel knows the tones going up mean I am going up tones down I am going down very important when running for next flight. I am 55 been diabetic 16 years. I like to be able to glance at app end of the day and see trends. I do not think the phone should control the pump as others have stated I believe it’s safety issue. Recently been in stalking situation. Due to my phone. I prefer the control on my hip. I would like to see exercise incorporated more when get burn going you can’t feel the lows.

Why would I want this app open 24/7?

2024-11-17

MiniMed itself is fine on an iPhone 6s Plus with IOS 14. The problem with it is that you have to leave MiniMed open on your phone constantly. It drains the battery, only to show me exactly what the pump shows me. The only potential purpose for MiniMed is to monitor someone else’s health. I won’t be keeping this.

Does not work with iPhone 12. Not supported

2024-11-17

Really Medtronic? I purchase the latest and greatest pump and it Doesn’t work with the latest and greatest iPhone 12? Your dreadfully slow innovation and plans to continue CGM that requires fingersticks are driving up T:slim and others sales. Just buy Dexcom already and integrate; or get off your horse and innovate!

So disappointed

2024-11-17

I can’t believe this isn’t compatible with iPhone 12 pro. Someone from Medtronic even called me last week and verified that it would work with my phone and iOS. Beyond disappointed

iPhone 12

2024-11-17

I’m happy enough to have received the 770G insulin pump and to start tracking it on my new iPhone 12 as well. Super disappointed that MiniMed isn’t supported on the iPhone 12...

Not a huge help

2024-11-17

MiniMed isn’t really that big of a help.It basically displays my blood sugar on my smart phone… And that’s it. I can’t control the pump with my smart phone, which is profoundly frustrating. What’s more, MiniMed isn’t available on the Apple Watch. Hopefully it will be in the future – but for now, this application simply does not do enough to warrant a high rating. Maybe future upgrades will make it better. But for now, it really isn’t worth it.

Anytime my bluetooth accidentally gets turned off, my phone restarts or updates, the app and pump disconnect and won't reconnect. I have to uninstall, reinstall the app, and delete/repair the phone and pump. All frustrating.
