The definition of hot garbage
This app is the definition of hot garbage. If I could give it 0 stars or negative stars I would. It it is extremely slow and provides little to no valuable information and proves to be extremely useless nearly 100% of the time. For example, 100% of the time I try to tap anything on the bottom bar say, “find a dentist”, “my coverage” or “my claims” it pops up an error message saying that they are unable to connect at this time and to come back at <insert time 20 minutes from now> Central Time. Come back 20 minutes later, same message. Further more, why am I give a time in central time, have you not considered users in other time zones!? This is not intermittent, literally 100% of the time. I can literally only view the content of the home screen. Cool, except when it’s not. According to the App Store the app hasn’t been updated in 3 months!? 3 months in modern software development time is the equivalent of 10 years. It’s safe to say that Delta Dental is the only insurance company I have ever had that doesn’t have an operable app. Get it together it’s 2019, my grandmother could write a more useful app than this.
Mine works fine for the iPhone XR
I just started going back to my dentist and saw you provided an app for us. I saw the reviews and still wanted to give it a try. Overall, it works fine for me! I love how easy it is to see the claims and the cost estimate calculator for each service. One suggestion would be for the claims, it would be nice to see (what they charged, what we will pay and what was covered with the insurance). Keep up the great work on making this overall friendly for the end user.
Very poor IT people
I have opened more than one incident report and they keep closing them without fixing the issue. I am an IT major and these people do a very poor job. I have requested that the people doing the app call me and they have yet to call me. They responded with one of the closing of my incident that one of my daughters has the same birthday as another and with each closure they respond saying that I need to contact delta dental to find out the correct name and birthday of my dependent. I guess they are unaware that most sets of multiple have the same date of birth and I am fully aware of what I named them and how I spelled their names and yes I know that delta dental has the correct spelling. If I could give negative starts I would.
Useless App - Don’t Bother
I don’t write many reviews, but when I run across an app that is pretty much useless I feel compelled to let people know. The only thing this app is good for is to look up your ID card. It doesn’t even show my claims. You have to manually add your family members to the app, but there’s no reason to. It doesn’t show their claims either even if you’re able to get them added to your profile. I talked with Delta Dental web support, and they told me that they didn’t even write the app themselves, and I even got them to admit the app is pretty much worthless. Deleted. Just use their website.
Saving ID to wallet doesn't work
Clicking the option to save the id card to the wallet does nothing. The method to set a preferred dentist is obscure. (The only way I could do it is to search for a dentist and then click the tiny star at the top.) Why can't it default to showing the dentist you've visited? Also, can't get help: both the App Support and Report a Problem links just go to the Delta Dental "about" web page, which has no links to get app support or report problems.
App as bad as website
My company made some changes to their agreement with Delta this year so I was assigned a new policy. The app only displays my old information for my ID card and both the app and website list my benefits as “pending” though I was assured by a customer service representative that my insurance is active. Of course while I was waiting on hold I hear that I can look up my benefit information on the company website. No I can’t. Please fix this. Notice also that the vast majority of the ratings for the app are one star. Nice try Delta, however your efforts so far have been a failure.

So I read a bunch of reviews on the delta dental app. Many, and I mean many of them are very poor, I assumed that it could have just been angry customers that didn’t want to pay their bills defaming the company. I then downloaded the app without heading the warnings and was unable to even log in because of an “internal error”.... great insurance, but an absolute joke of an app that the company should be ashamed of having an affiliation with to say the least. Delta, either make the app usable, or don’t offer the service.

I honestly can’t believe someone likely got paid to make this. Do the developers use this app? It serves absolutely no purpose - you can’t see your claims, all my information is outdated - it has all my plan info from last year and I can’t update it through the app. The only thing I found that I can do is add my phone number to the account and search for a dentist which I can also do on google and unlike this crap app I can get much more information about the dentist through google. Deleted.
I literally cannot believe a company as large as Delta Dental has such a god awful app. It does not work. It crashes constantly, asks me to sign in multiple times, won’t let me see my claims... basically the only thing I can successfully do is view my virtual card, but it takes AGES for it to load and for me to sign in. I finally took a screenshot of my virtual card bc it is easier to view than using this absolutely terrible excuse for an app. Designers need to take a massive look at how the app should function, and basically rebuild it.
It’s 2019, the iPhone has been out for over a decade, and delta dental can’t figure out how to build a workable app with basic functionality. Apps basic functionality doesn’t work. After logging in I can’t view my card, can’t view my coverage, can’t view analysis claims. The delta dental website is also terrible but it’s better than this. Just go to the website on your phone. You’ll be banging your head against the wall based on how poor the website is. But it’s still significantly better than the app.
This app is absolutely terrible. It basically has zero functionality and is only good for looking at your ID card, which isn’t helpful at all because I have a wallet. I can never view my claims, search for dentists or anything else without an error screen. Here’s the real kicker** I once called Delta Dental, frustrated because my app literally always refuses to show me my claim info, and I was told by the rep that this was because the app is literally not even affiliated with Delta Dental Insurance and that I couldn’t view my claims do to privacy issues.
Supports X; Works great
New version supports Face ID for the X. Login and everything works great. Not sure what everyone’s login issues are. I checked the help button and it looks like some states don’t support the same password. My states not listed so I’m guessing those people complaining about that haven’t even checked it out...
Embarrassing bad design
Tried to use this app to obtain a mobile version of ID card, since that should be faster than getting one by mail. First step is to try to get a username/password set up. It asks for SSN, DOB, and the answer to who-knows-what “challenge question.” Can’t get past challenge question. Go to help, and it wants you to sign in. No dice that way. How to call for phone support? No problem - just call the number on the back of my card. So this app goes to trash because it doesn’t solve to one and only problem it needed to solve.
A few years ago I was able to use this app on my iPhone no problem. Now every time I try to log into my app with login credentials it states my information on my account needs to be updated. Then when it launches the delta dental website on my phone and I submit my credentials it states my information is not accurate to what’s on their database, despite the fact the information is correct. Now I’m stuck only being able to access my account through my laptop.
What a Mess!
I sure hope this insurance is better than their website and app! I have been screwing around for a hour trying to get a login that works on both. After using "Forgot Password" numerous times on the website, I finally hit a new password that seems to let me in without generating an error indicating that my username/password isn't in their system. Now, when I enter those same credentials in the app, I get a message it indicating it's incorrect. Forget it - I'm dumping the app and going with just the website.
