Constant crashing

2024-07-27

I spent $24 on this, $27 with tax and everytime I selecta color SINCE the free trial has worn off Mockup crashes. I can't build anything because of this and even when I work without changing the color the program will randomly change items to white and I can't see them and have to click around to find the item on A white background!!
I would have left this feedback directly to support or in the feedback in app but it crashes so constantly I couldn't do that either!

Basic tool design missing

2024-02-03

The most basic common UI for drawing and using drawing tools is missing. Spent 10 minutes and then decided i was not interested in learning a new way to draw shapes and aligned objects since it is so typical to most programs. Very disppointing

Do not download

2024-08-26

Mockup is is very finicky when trying to use it. I was working on prototyping Mockup to present to clients on it. The day before the meeting, Mockup crashed and when I tried close it and open it again it only showed me a white screen. After about 10 seconds, Mockup closed and went back to my Home Screen. I tried to trouble shoot the issues by shutting down my device then turning it back on and turning on and off my wifi. I was unable to recover my work which is very unfortunate and I will not be using Mockup again nor be recommending it to any friends anytime soon.

No useful elements

2024-04-05

I got Mockup to help me design my first iPad/iOS app. At first I was going to stick with the free version, but the temptation to use a library of iPhone elements was too great to resist so I subscribed! Now, today, I'm attempting to actually use the elements they give you and THERE'S NOTHING THERE!! A couple of weird, uneditable title bars and not much else. Not nearly enough to do anything ios-related and certainly not enough to make it worth paying for! I really feel ripped off and disappointed.

I used to love this app…

2024-03-02

I used to use Mockup for everything UX/UI. Now I’m afraid I may need to go over to something else despite paying for the lifetime membership. I haven’t used Mockup in a few months due to a shift in work, but now coming back I can see that a lot has changed - not necessarily for the better.

Maybe there’s a secret way to copy/paste, but I cannot find it. Why has this option been disabled? The work around is to create elements I guess. Not really thrilled. Also the new UI looks much worse than the previous sleek looking drawing tools. As well, I used to be able to move the drawing tools out of the way. I’m left handed so my hand is always hitting them or covering them now that they are in a fixed position. The main file page is also really odd with the “window” looking quadrant icons. Maybe Mockup needs a UX Designer. Why the big changes??

This is sooooooo buggy, nothing works right

2023-08-21

Absolutely nothing work correctly in Mockup. And I want to shape detection to work it doesn’t work. When I want to write Mockup to text and shapes. The toolbar will randomly disappear. Canvases disappear with three fingers slide down but then there’s no way to get them back. The color picker will select white instead of black which I’m clearly selecting. This is incredibly buggy.

Doesn't work

2023-09-22

Projects from you ipad and iphone don't show up on the desktop version. Whats the point of having a desktop version doesnt do anything. I paid for the premuim version to look at a blank screen... great what a waste of money. For an application for UX/UI designers this has horrible ux. You can't even login to your apple account.

Lost hours of work.

2024-08-06

Only tested free version. More than once lost hours of work. Can not load saved this app files. One time app just crashed and hours of work were all gone. Another time icloud sync from another iPad wiped all new work. Restore attempts from hourly backups did not work. Terrible! If you try this export to pdf every hour or so. Better still get the screen template you need and load it as a layer to procreate app or other stable paint tool.

Feature set is not there

2024-07-15

I love the idea of simple mocks, but team we had just switched to Miro as it was so much faster and had all the features we needed. UI is painful here and basic OS commands you're used to (like option drag) don't work the way they should.

Syncing fails, but great on ipad

2023-12-25

I lvoe the infinite canvas, symbols, duplicate, show/hide grids and device outlines, etc. But this product will not sync correctly between my devices. I'm logged into the same apple ID, and still it refuses to sync my work correctly, my iPad work remains undisturbed, but the desktop and mobile apps rarely show the current version.

Missing a lot of basic stuff

2024-04-10

Great app, but could use some polish. For example, why is the element search case sensitive? searching "text" will come up with a "Context Menu", but you have to search "Text" in order to get a "Text Field" to come up. Many other little things too, but a lot of these reviews covered the others.

Great app with room to grow

2024-04-23

As a UI/UX designer I have been looking for a way to transition to using my iPad to sketch out my ideas and process. Evaluated many options and there are plenty of options out there to satisfy. But Mockup has provided the built in templates for devices and simplicity of tools that fulfilled my intention of replacing my actual sketchbook and still feel like I am using it.
There is plenty of room for improvements and growth that I hope the developers continue to work on. But for my creative flow it is the perfect solution in support of my process.
One bad experience - I had worked on sketches on my iPad and later open Mockup on my Mac where it idicated there was an update. I ran the update and when I opened the file to continue working all my sketches where gone!! The artboards added to do the sketches where still in file but the content deleted. When i went to check the backup there was no backup saved with that version eventhough it was from the previous day. :-(

Bad for Cross-Platform Mockups

2024-04-10

Not great for designing the same screen across multiple device types as each board only contains rows and columns of a single device.

Would make more sense to allow me to add templates to the same file so I could more easily create cross-platform experiences side-by-side.

Cool app though, just missing something I feel is really key. If you don’t need that, buy it.

Not a great experience

2024-07-03

I want to believe this is a good app. However, Mockup immediately left me wanting. Using the Apple Pencil was not a good experience, as lines do not “snap” into place if drawn slightly wrong. The mobile device outlines are also not considered borders like in design prototyping apps, making it easier to make mistakes with the sketch like accidentally drawing over the outline. I want to support them, but the initial experience doesn’t prove to me that it’s worth it.

Pretty good but needs some changes

2024-04-10

In my opinion Mockup still has a ways to go until it is fully functional. I think that Mockup needs to allow the user to resize elements after using them.
Another suggested change is to give the user the opportunity to send elements to the back or front.
But Mockup works fairly well, if only for the simplest of projects.

Look promising but...

2024-06-03

Look good, but it locks too many thing behind the paywall sothat i couldn't taste it as free user. Who need a this app when they can only navigation bar? There is very limit thing to try on
Because you make it work on touch devices, it is lack of auto snap too
Mockup has large preset, it is good point but compare to figma, i couldn't say which is better

Great app otherwise

2024-09-02

Mockup is very convenient to use however is very buggy. When I deleted a frame to create more space for notes and export the files everything is misplaced (the frames are all over the place and so is my notes). I tried all the exporting option and always the same so is very frustrating.

Good but could use more template items

2024-08-29

I used Mockup this morning to design a screen for an application I'm building. I like Mockup , but I am not developing for mobile. Most of the widgets are geared towards iPhone and iPad development. If it had this app items for web app elements from Bootstrap it would be more useful for me. If it had chart elements from higcharts and ag-grid, I'd give it 20 stars. Mockup works exactly as it is designed to. I never hit any crashes or snags in my use of it.

Love it!

2024-06-29

I’m enjoying the simplicity of Mockup and love the endless template options. One feature I’d love to see added is the ability to lasso select parts of my sketch so I can move them around the canvas as well as resize them. Right now if I draw an object too small, I have to erase and redraw; same with moving objects. Other than that, it’s perfect!

Simple and easy to use

2025-06-28

Mockup makes it incredibly easy to wireframe out new ideas using native apple tools. While there are some features I’d love to see that could really polish Mockup up…

- Ability to paste in images
- draw and hold to activate the shape tool
- had work get erased a few times, but this is somewhat avoidable through taking screenshots. Not ideal, but isn’t a deal breaker.

Really excited to see where this goes!

Pretty dang good but needs work

2025-01-06

There should be an option to turn off double tap to switch between eraser and most recent tool. Also, it would help to clean up the behavior of elements when selected on the canvas. There should be a clearer delineation between one tap for the menu, two taps to move and resize and three taps to edit text. The size slider is too optimized for very large text and not enough for normal font sizes. An option to align images inside each other as well as sending layers back or forward would be nice. Export options are good and the overall ease of use is great. There’s something crazy that happens sometimes when using the pencil to write text into the text fields where I’m tapping something and the text loses all of its formatting. That needs to be fixed.

Can't export

2025-02-07

App doesn't work properly. I can sketch, add screens, etc. However, exporting them is impossible. It just shows the loading sign and didn't do anything. Please fix this problem.

Fantastic! Keep it up!

2025-03-11

Amazing app! Well done and keep it up!

The only comment i have is in regards to the shape detection which I believe needs improvement!

Neat idea neatly executed

2024-08-02

I really appreciate the iCloud sync, shape detection, and duplication functions. I think it could be polished up a bit, for example no need to manually enable the shape option, support for system gestures to undo/redo, and more templates like Home Screen widgets would be cool. Overall a really neat app that I’m sure I’ll come back to wherever I feel the need to sketch out an idea before I build it!

Great for UX designers & product managers

2024-09-25

I've been using this app for over a year and its great for making quick sketches to show the designers on my team what I want. I recommend it for anyone trying to build their own applications or product managers.

Almost Perfect!

2026-02-24

this app is usually my go-to app for sketching out design projects. I love the UI and various tools included. I subscribed to the premium version and I believe its 100% worth the money. My ONLY concern though is we don’t have an ability to create custom-sized documents. Sometimes I am unable to accurately sketch out a layout because it does not resemble the pre-chosen sizes. If this app added this ability, I would no longer revert to GoodNotes or Procreate for my sketching. Otherwise Mockup is amazing!

Love the app

2026-03-28

Found it accidentally and so glad you made it. Very easy to use, intuitive and not any unnecessary functions (for a UX designer user). The only feature I would like to see in the future is, after selecting certain elements on the page, I would love to resize them. Currently I can’t resize but to move or duplicate or delete. But considering it’s free and there’s probably not a big team behind this, I’m grateful for what you have today.

Almost perfect

2024-08-03

There are plenty of great sketching apps out there but this app has earned its place as my go-to for UX ideation. It’s simple and fast because it does away with all the unnecessary clutter - just what I need for putting early design concepts together.

A couple of small thoughts (none of them dealbreakers):
- sync can sometimes still be a bit off when using across multiple devices
- three finger swipe down to hide canvases is way too hard to get right. Perhaps consider changing the gesture or allowing gestures to be user configured (and/or add an option to contextual menu)
- wish there was an easy way (a mode?) to move canvases around. Sometimes I get deep into a project and realize I need to reorganize things a bit
- drag to the edge to create new canvases is handy, but actually I wish when I dragged to the edge I just saw a bunch of ‘+’ buttons so I can create only specific canvases (ie creates a row/column but other canvases are hidden). Note this might not be a big deal if it was easier to hide canvases
- elements library is great but it should allow me to drag and position things before releasing them on canvas. Also I think it would feel more natural to position objects by center point instead of top left
- might want to consider reusing the existing selection tool to define elements rather than using a second selection tool just for elements which is rectangular only

Keep up the great work Hasan!

This is the best app for UX designers, UI designers, PMs, small business owners, etc.

I have tried Procreate, Invision Freehand, (will try Figma Whiteboard which was in beta last I saw months ago), and others but it is always something: no Apple Pencil support, buggy / laggy, only works if using the parent SaaS, dev abandoned the project, no structure like projects, folders, linked canvases, or a combination of these.

There is nothing like Mockup for iPad plus it has a Mac App and iPhone app. Buy it, support the dev(s).

Mr. Hassan Kassel,

I sense there is huge potential to market this to UX designers, LO-FI tool for UI designers, and as a general "must have" for anyone interested in mocking up a design fluidly and quickly with projects, folders, and prebuilt canvases.

I’ve subscribed to support development but I truly fear that you will stop developing this project eventually pushing out updates every so often throughout the year until it is abandoned due to not enough revenue or the rise of another passion project, if you will.

Please let me know if we can collaborate and I can plug Mockup into my University where I am a student with tons of other students and teachers at an international scale.

Secondly, I’m a program instructor for my platform, and this is something I’d love to highlight in my courses.

I’ll do my best to support if I with your commitment. Please let me know and I can email you.

It's glorious thank you

I had always wanted an app like this so I can jot down designs and had always used notetaking apps to do the job but Mockup strips that away and adds features that I love to use. Just the whole flow being able to design and create on my iPad to jumping on my mac and grabbing the designs is very seamless.

Finally in the flow state

2025-11-16

I’ve been trying out all kinds of apps to whiteboard & sketch designs, and this is the only one that got me into the flow state. I actually feel like I’m working, not just using a tool — and I’m officially having fun!

Highly recommend!

Pretty Handy & Useful App

2025-12-18

I’ve been using this great app over the past 1 year and I found it really helpful for my UI sketches. I can draw any solutions easily. The interface of Mockup is neat and clean and it is easy to use.
