Definition of Frustration

I bought a new SE in Spain and live in Spain. I I downloaded the this app app from MINI Store. MINI won’t let me register saying tahtvwe have to go through BMWUSA . When I try to log into the this app app, I get a message that it wants to connect to BMWUSA.(I am an American). I can not be the very first person to have this issue!! I’ve called 3 different help lines, emailed folks,and still no resolution. Tech support is super slow and confusing….extreme disappointment.
UPDATE:
Tech support contacted me and the issue was resolved by resetting the country of my Apple App Store (yes, you can do this once you cancel your subscription to AppleTV and enter an address in Spain and a credit card that was issued in Spain). Now you can Reload the this app app, delete the original one (the one you had downloaded when your store was set to the US) and then register. (Don’t forget to re-subscribe to AppleTV and to reset your App Store back to your home country. ) To this app: whom to contact and how to contact tech support is very, very confusing. It had to have been designed by Kafka himself. Also, please provide detailed instructions, like I have above, on how to resolve the issue step by step, or walk someone through it over the phone. Better yet, don’t make people go through this 12-step program and make the issue go away. I can’t be the only one with this issue.

Replaced a Working App With a Non Working App

You removed the old app and replaced it with this one. I have a 2017 with this app Connected XL and you’ve removed my ability to connect to my car with MINI . A feature that I spec’d and paid for when I bought the vehicle new. I understand if I don’t have the parts and software to connect to MINI, but why totally kill the old one? It worked and was very useful. Please restore this functionality or allow the old one to live on so that customers who paid for the low level connectivity MINI provided (fuel level, navigation integration, etc. ) can still be used. This seems shortsighted and not at all inline with how this app treats its customers. This is my second this app, and possibly my last. Forced obsolescence is not the foundation of a loyal customer base.

Connectivity Issue

I bought my this app in Mexico. While I understand that it is possible to connect it through the this app Mexico app, it is a terrible inconvenience to sign out of my Apple ID and switch my region to Mexico, as I am at risk of losing all of my photos and videos, as well as other data. I would also have to leave my family iCloud; rejoining it would entail unimaginable complications. Making the this app app universal would solve all of these issues, as it is terribly inconvenient for the user to have to go through all of this when buying a this app outside of their App Store region. I cannot be the only person with this issue. Make MINI universal and have the region selection happen inside MINI !

The one star was me being kind.

Every few weeks, MINI forgets my car. It is an improvement over the previous version that deleted all of my user information every few weeks.
Additionally, it doesn't recognize my VIN despite the previous version did. The developers focus on making MINI work for model 2020 and later. After much backlash, they found a workable, where you can access MINI via a USB cable to connect your car.
Here is how it works for me. Every few weeks, MINI doesn't recognize my car. I have to re-enter my VIN, wait to be rejected, then connect via USB cable. If I am already connected via USB cable, I have to disconnect and reconnect
MINI is not compatible with the this app Cooper image and reputation.

Primary and Secondary driver issue

When you first set up MINI and add a vehicle you can select if you are the primary or secondary driver. This works fine for multiple drivers.

Problem is that if a secondary driver mistakenly selects Primary on setup it boots the original Primary and current Secondary drivers. This is obviously by design. However, there is no way to correct it on subsequent use. For example, a driver who previously selected Primary by mistake is not prompted any longer to select. My daughter selected Primary in error. I had to reset my app and it then removed her. When she went to set up again to select Secondary there was no option for that, so adding the vehicle again removed it from my account. Now we are stuck where only one of us can use MINI .

If you lost the app on your pre-2019…

Here is a navigation solution since this app won’t tell you this, and will not fix the problems the loss of their app caused for people who have navigation systems.

First, look up your trips using Siri via Apple Car Play so it accesses the Maps app on your phone, not using the this app assistant nor the this app nav screen. (Hold the button on your steering wheel longer to get Siri instead of the this app assistant.) After Siri locates your destination on the display, there will be a small icon that looks like a paper with an arrow next to the destination name; pressing that will give an option to transfer it directly to your this app navigation. Then it will use your car navigation for the trip: heads up display, etc. as if you set the destination through the this app navigation.

Super easy, and routes are arguably more accurate than the this app navigation. You can pre-plan trips and save them in your iPhone’s Apple Maps to pull them more quickly, if that is your need.

Is there anything anyone can do at MINI?

I bought a 2013 Clubman s in March of this year. The cars transmission and timing chain failed within just months of owning it. Being able to utilize MINI was a very exciting feature and big selling point for me. I was extremely anxious to have features on a oldish car that made it feel like a new model. I have spent countless hours through forums online and at the dealer to no availI but I finally have my answer. I guess it’s my bad for lack of research but still very disappointed. Everything I bought a this app for is at this point non existent. Hope someone sees this and can make sure something like this doesn't happen to any costumer after me.

Updated to add… no functionality

MINI is regularly updated, so I guess that is great. MINI does nothing though to improve or even add to my driving experience. I have a 2019, and even a year ago when I bought it MINI basically did nothing besides let me make appointments at the dealership. Multiple updates later and that’s still the only function that does anything. I don’t know if this works better for models that are loaded with all the options, but my All4 PHEV is higher than the base model trim and MINI is worthless. If you are a JCW trim level driver, you probably do things already that are beyond MINI. Hey this app, how about an app that actual does something useful for the majority of drivers with cars that are 6 years old or newer (just as a starting point)? Every update I cross my fingers and get nothing.

Won’t update vehicle charge status

I really wish I could rely on MINI to tell me what the charging status is on my 2022 Cooper SE. It worked at first but since early Oct 2021 it has been terrible. Currently it shows a 100% charged status (says it was updated from vehicle six days ago) when in reality I am at 28%. Has only updated the charge status once in the last 5 weeks or so. I can’t speak to other features on MINI because this is really the only function I see myself using in MINI . I certainly won’t rely on it to give me accurate info on closest charging stations if it can’t even connect to my own vehicle to update. Disappointing. It would also be nice if MINI could be used by more than one driver. If my partner takes the car, he cannot have MINI on his phone. App will only support one driver per vehicle.

Not all Mini’s shall connect

In my opinion the best this app App was available for the 2014 models. It was user friendly, playful and provided useful information about your car. Since then they have messed up future versions of MINI like this one to include the vehicle software which I thought was great you could watch videos and movies on the display when it was parked. They ruined that too. MINI It wont connect with my 2014 and in my newer one simply doesn’t have anything that will enhance your experience or make you glad you are the owner of a this app, unique among cars. This this app app simply gives you what you already have without it. Need you k is how much fuel you have? Look at your gauge. Need you know what fuel range you have? Turn on your car. Need a navigational map? There are much better options on a cell phone that connect you to commuters at large better than the this app app such as Waze. If you’re a proud owner of a this app, MINI does nothing to enhance that experience.

Charging status doesn’t update!

Recently purchased a 2023 this app SE. Love the car but MINI needs work! I can plug the car into either a level 1 or level 2 charger we have in the garage and the car will charge but MINI will not update to reflect the current state of charge! This is essential for an EV. We need to be able to see what the current charge level is without having to go out to the car and check on it every time! We also have both a BMW I4 and a 330e in our home and while using BMWs app which is nearly identical to the this app app BOTH cars update constantly as the cars are charging. I’m not sure why this is an issue for the this app app being that it’s the same company. Aside from that MINI works well enough. But this needs to be fixed!!

First Mini purchase

As a first time this app owner, excited to take delivery of our new 2025 Cooper S 4dr coming direct from the factory. Excited to start using MINI , however, greatly disappointed with the initial tracking process. I search high and low in MINI for a notifications setting regarding status changes during the build/delivery process and found nothing. We are almost at the end of our delivery journey, but I would suggest to the developed that you add in notifications to enhance the experience for users waiting for cars from the factory.

I hope MINI experience improves after delivery. Time wlli tell I suppose.

Needing minor improvements

Love MINI minus the small lags and responsive issues. It predominantly happens when using it on the Apple Watch but sometimes happens with phone too. For example, trying to start climatize or unlocking doors. It is specifically consistent on said lag after car has been turned off and dormant for a couple hours or more. It would also be cool to add some new features at some point like what temperature to climatize straight from MINI , interior lighting, steering wheel/seat heating, etc

Great, but for one flaw

MINI does most of what I need. The one issue is that if you want to charge only within a specific period, you MUST set a departure time. And if that time is too close to the charging period, your charging period is meaningless. I charge frequently with a L1 connection, so my charging periods are longer. And with 2 EVs, being able to schedule charging on a single circuit breaker is important. Having to jump through mental gymnastics to calculate when I can even program the charging period is not desirable.
Other than that, MINI is brilliant and a pleasure to use!

It is what it is…

MINI works well with my 22 Countryman. Those of your in “older” this app’s (not hating.. I love all this app’s) what are you wanting MINI to do for you? Remote start? Summon? I used to have the older this app app with my previous Countryman. Actually , I still do have MINI , and I use it from time to time, but only because of that G force thing. Wish they would bring that back. It was kinda neat. CarPlay makes things a little easier as the current this app connected idrive system is a little blah.

Needs edrive electrical consumption

MINI is nice, but isn’t super useful on a daily basis. I home charge my car and manage charging with ChargePoint. I liked the this app Connected EDrive, but it would not count all journeys. Even better would be a listing of all journeys that had start date/time, duration, kWh used, start outside temperature, distance, average speed, and mile/kWh. Then if this could total up by a date filter or group by week or month, I would be able to better know how factors affect range and be able to more accurately estimate where I can go on a charge.

App initially did not work with new car and iPhone 13

I love MINI now, about 6 weeks into owning a new this app. On January 7, 2022, I received a new 2022 this app Cooper all electric hardtop. Beginning on January 10, I let the this app dealer and MiniConnected know that MINI “charging and climate timer” feature was not working. After spending many hours on the phone with the dealer, with MiniConnected, and in the vehicle working on ideas from MiniConnected, MINI began working as to this feature about a month later.

Connectivity issues?

I am “forced” to write a review because the “support” for MINI doesn’t exist. MINI is for a 2022 this app Cooper SE. Nobody answers my requests for help. When clicking on the car icon a message saying : “Connectivity issues. Temporarily unable to load this content. Please try again. Retry.” I have been “retrying” again and again for weeks with zero result. I have deleted and reinstalled MINI several times, rebooted the IPhone, rebooted and deleted MINI at the same time. all with no result. Any idea on what to do to make MINI working? My dealership’s “this app Product Genius Customer Service Rep” has no clues about it. Thank you.

I love this app!

It’s great having all the information pertaining to my this app right here in one place. Features are useful, and easy to navigate. I’m new to this app, so having the ability to search through the manual, allows me to find answers about my vehicle’s functionality on the fly. I like that I can see upcoming scheduled services, the status and location of my car, as well as the ability to lock and unlock remotely right from MINI . Nice job this app.

Magical little car!

Driving our this app is a treat in itself. Aside from its wonderful aesthetics beautifully designed vehicle, it corners fantastically is easy to park goes from 0 to 60 in no time it’s quiet and charming. We get compliments all the time when we’re out in about. Especially in the British racing green which was originally Irish by the way! From an original car race in County Kildare, Ireland. 💚
