Awesome app BUT my accounts keep disconnecting

I really love Bright BUT my accounts keep disconnecting which is the reason for giving it a 2 star rating. I reached out to this app for assistance but they were NO help. After troubleshooting the issue on my own I found that if I updated the password to my account that disconnected and re-entered the new credentials in the this app app the account successfully reconnected. Well when I logged in to Bright this morning (just a few days after re-establishing the connection to previously disconnected account)I found it disconnected AGAIN and another account also disconnected. I logged into the accounts and changed the passwords and re-entered the credentials in the this app app but no luck. I keep getting a message saying the accounts are already connected BUT they are not. This is so frustrating because the whole reason I opted to download and use Bright is for the convenience of having everything in one place, using the automated payment option and bonus, I love how Bright automatically saves money for you. Not sure Bright is for me at this point. Previously I paid my accounts through automatic payments and I may just have to go back to doing that at least until this app improves on their customer service and fixes this bug. I really want Bright to work, ugh.

Horrible!!

Bright has taken money and it doesn’t say where on Bright or when it would take money from your bank account. It hasn’t posted to my credit cards, it was quick to take it out I’ve only had Bright for a few days. I don’t agree with your response. One of the “team members” I chatted with on Bright about my frustration just kept saying he understood and this app is a young growing team. BEFORE YOU HAVE PEOPLE LINK THEIR ACCOUNTS YOU SHOULD TELL THEM WHEN THEY SHOULD EXPECT THE MONEY TO BE TAKEN OUT. This is literally still ridiculous. I had my “goal” taken out of my bank account last week and I didn’t know that they automatically take money out I just believed I would be able to click and take my OWN money out when I thought be best. They told me last week they were waiting for it to post and then it would be transferred back. Couldn’t tell me how many days even thought they were very quick to take it out. I got a
message from this app through my email today that it would be reversed in 4 to 5 business days after I finally emailed this app and told them I thought it was ridiculous that they couldn’t tell me when the funds could be refunded. May I remind anyone who reads my review a only had Bright for 2 or 3 days before they initially took the money out and now it’s taking over a week to be reversed.

Too much to say...

They drain your bank account. you can’t have extra 5 dollars on your account because they will withdraw it and start making payments non-stop. So if you want to have spare money bad luck. They don’t pay attentions to your credit cards they just pay, pay and pay till the point that they sent a $222 payment to a credit card that had $0 balance so now I have a credit card with $-222. Make no sense. They did it couple times and I called them but they don’t really care and still sent payments to the credit card with a $0 balance. They just send an email apologizing but they don’t really do anything about it. The point to have Bright is that you shouldn’t have to call them to let them know which and how much to pay on the credit card. (Which I did few times because they were sending payments to a card with $0 balance) They only good thing is that they give me a $1500 credit with a little lower APR to pay off couple credit cards. better than nothing. But Still I give 1 star for the horrible customer service and for not being carefully with sending payments.

UPDATE: their response is always the same to every bad rating. (Copy and paste) It seems that they don’t really read our concerns. Another reason that confirms the 1 star rating.

Worst customer service available.

I was promised and told 3 times that I would get refunded because they charged my account AFTER I cancelled my subscription, this resulted in a negative balance in my bank account of (160) because they’re charge screwed up my math and cause a domino effect of overdraft fees! After 2 weeks of genuinely struggling to contact them, I was promised a refund by two different people, I have screenshots and everything to prove the transactions and overcharges. I got told “dont worry, I’ll take it from here” from Ava in guest service, after initially getting told by Andrea in guest service that the issue would be resolved, and yet I never got my refunds and than got completely IGNORED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE, they genuinely hung up the phone before even talking with me and than made it so that I can’t reach guest service through Bright chat, I HAVE to email them, to which they continue to ignore me! So long story short, after I canceled my subscription with Bright I continue to get charged fees which resulted in a cash loss of (160) which I guess I’ll never see again, which I cannot afford to never see again. So I guess I will be eating rice for the next few months. No thank you for your help. I’m so upset, and honestly sad. 10/10 would never recommend Bright.

Great Concept - When It Works

Bright is an excellent concept. It breaks up credit card payments over the whole month and pays them for you (allegedly) with AI-learned timing to minimize interest. The problem is that you only get the benefits if you set absolutely everything up perfectly from the very beginning. The AI only runs at setup - if you add any cards/accounts after the fact, you’re just manually plugging it in. Nothing gets the smart-adapting plan that you think you’ve paid for. I changed my target payoff card soon after setting up, and it was never actually adjusted until I contacted support.

Bright also promises “small withdrawals” to build up your CC payments over the month. It started out doing that, then all withdrawals stopped. I manually transferred in some money, and in the same week Bright withdrew almost $500 from my account. That money is just sitting there with no payments scheduled after several days. There’s no option to manually move the money to any of my linked cards. It’s just going to sit there until Bright decides to move it, or I have to wait 4-6 days to get it back to my bank. Not a great feeling after paying nearly $90 for a year’s service.

This app has a few quirks, but it’s absolutely being a lifesaver for me.

There are a few bugs in Bright, and I’m unsure how the algorithm that’s being used is determine the amounts it does on the days it draws on my account. Some days, I’ve had two withdrawals taken out of my account on the same day. Others, they take a few hundred (which seems extreme, but based around my pay schedule, actually works out just fine for having enough leftover to last me until the next payday). And the fact that it automates the payments to my cards, so I’ve grown accustomed to the balance I see in my checking as my *actual* budget is so extremely helpful.

Bright has a lot of promise, but over the last month, it’s been really helping me a lot. It’s lowered interest charges over pay periods and even refunded the minimum payments on one of my accounts by the way it handles payments. If you’re struggling with managing debt and a budget, Bright is really worth a try. I do hope they develop even more features and fix some of the bugs. Will be keeping my eyes on how this helps my credit score!

Horrible.

At first I thought the idea was pretty cool, but then I noticed things I didn’t like. For example Bright is constantly being disconnected from my bank and it doesn’t tell me when this happens until after many weeks - right now I noticed it was disconnected back in Nov and just never reconnected it again because I feel like I have to do this multiple times a month, and today I just got a text message from this app telling me there was a bank issue. At the end of the month when things are due. So they should work on letting you know the bank disconnect after two days. Second thing is I have a minimum limit set.. when the bank was disconnected and reconnected, this app took more than it should have past the min amount and then overdrafted me. Third thing is the monthly fee I don’t recall ever agreeing to. It’s $10 a month. I feel like it’s a hidden charge - and finally. The first month it made sure to save extra and actually pay down my debt on my one card.. then after that it was only making minimum payments and not paying anything extra, but making sure to save enough for their monthly fee. Needs a lot of work.

Awesome AI paid down my debt automatically

Bright is awesome! Really helped me pay down my debt, without me even noticing! Today I checked. Only been using this app Money for 3 months and paid off 1 card. Thank you xoxo! this app automatically saved money from my checking account, and paid my credit cards at the background! The AI worked so well, never overdrafted me. They even got all the due dates right so I never missed a payment. Credit cards are so easy to get, but so hard to pay off! Geez how would I know that credit card minimum payment is meant to keep me be indebted forever. And every card has a different due date. Sometimes I went to vacation and forget... then boom got charged late fee of $39 and then interest rate! I felt I would never pay them down. Then I joined this app and I feel hope again. There was a couple of times I had to contact customer service - so nice and patient. Highly recommend for everyone.

A financial SOS lifeline

I haven’t been the best with my spending habits and it has gotten me into some debt. When I realized I needed help I went on a search for something that would truly help me. “They” say that there is an app for everything so I starting comparing different debt reduction apps and found that most of them wanted you have you take out a loan or pay for them to help you. Then I stumbled upon this app! this app Money is one of the best things for me to pay down and reduce my debt and keep me on track. No longer do I worry about making on time or even extra payments to my credit card because I have a friend who’s got my back. Thank you this app so much for helping me be more responsible and become a financially smarter person. One thing I hope to see soon is spend ability feature on Bright that tracks your bills and tells you how much you can spend and not go over budget to help pay debt off quicker!

Try this app! You’ll be happy you did…

I downloaded Bright with the intention of just scrolling through it because I thought the description seemed intriguing, but I ended up signing up for the whole deal and I’m so glad I did. Also it’s late at night on Christmas Eve right now and I had opened up their chat bot because I just had a quick question, I wanted to verify something, and to my complete shock I immediately reached a human being who was extremely friendly and helpful, honestly it was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. So for anybody who wants to save money or maybe you want someone else to take care of your credit card payments for you, or maybe you need any of the other countless helpful things Bright offers, you should try it!! Trust me there’s nothing to lose, if you don’t end up needing them you can just delete it, truly there’s no downside :)

Amazing Customer Service

When I signed up for this app I was immediately impressed with how straight forward everything is. From the layout to the detailed debt management plan. Everything was very clear and understandable, which is sometime rare with these things. What impressed me the most was the immediate human representative response I received. I had a question about my account so I opened the chat window to contact support. This was all done at 2am so I expected to go through a lengthy auto response but was shocked that within seconds I was connected to an actual person! My questions were answered quickly and it was nice to actually get a response that wasn’t automated or simply directing me to an FAQ page (especially in the middle of the night). Can’t recommend Bright enough if you’re looking to manage your debt and know that they have your back!

Good idea, but not for everyone

Long story short, I had almost $300 taken out of my checking account and this app was to pay it toward my credit card...the only problem is 3 weeks later my credit card issuer reached out and said they had not received a payment for the month and now was overdue. I thought this app paid my credit card weeks ago? Hmmm.

Basically this app had taken my money and for whatever reason the payment never made it to my credit card. It was still processing and the “estimated date” this app said I should expect to see the payment go through kept getting pushed back every day.

I reached out to support and they were able to reverse the funds back to my this app account which from there I could transfer back into my checking account. Thankfully I got my funds back today and closed my this app account. I think Bright is a great idea but it didn’t work for me at all, i’m just better off paying it off myself rather than have a 3rd party do it for me. Support was very helpful but i’m sad it was a below average experience. :(

Stole my money!

Bright is extremely misleading and useless! I made an account back in December. When I signed up there was no mention of a monthly fee and I never agreed to pay for anything. They charged me $9.99 in January and I didn’t even notice the charge. They charged me again February 15th and when I saw it I thought it was then taking out money to put into Bright account to pay towards my credit card payments. After a few days I never saw the money in Bright so I emailed them last night about it. I got an email this afternoon asking me about how I would rate the suppose to received for my issue. At this point I’m confused because I never received a response email about the situation. I scroll down and see an email attached showing that someone had responded maybe 30 minutes after my first email. But I literally never got it. I searched my junk mail, trash, EVERYTHING and there was nothing there. So I had to send a completely new email to try and get a refund and now I have to wait again for a response. Definitely not a helpful app AT ALL and just like the year 2020 I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Awesome app to fix debt!!

I was a dumb teenager with a credit card, and spent way more that I should have. Feeling overwhelmed with 2k in debt (I know not a whole lot but still quite a bit. With this app, I’ve been able to drop that debt from 2k down to 1300 in just a couple months without having to even touch anything bank wise. I’ve had two issues that needed to go to customer service, and they’ve been absolutely amazing. Once it made my account go into overdraft and they fixed it immediately with crediting my account back in less than an hour, and the other (just now) I needed help removing a bank account, and the support lady names Sophia helped me in less than 10 minutes!! Amazing app with amazing customer service. Only complaint is some of my debit cards don’t connect (kohls card) but they’re working on adding more accounts as soon as possible.

One of the best apps I have found

I don’t want sure how I would like Bright, I have tried many different apps to build my credit and only a few I have liked. I was pleasantly surprised by what a difference this app has made for me. I don’t even notice the small amounts they use to pay my card, and couldn’t believe what had been paid on my card, and what was saved in my stash without me even having a clue! They only use small amounts that you won’t notice and I have never had an issue. Low balance-no withdrawal. I swear I haven’t noticed a single withdrawal! But my FICO score is up 39 points so far because my credit usage decreased so significantly, and I have extra money saved in my stash for a tough week or month. I recommend this to anyone needing to get ahead on their credit accounts or improve their credit score.

One of the Best Apps ever!

I love Bright! It does exactly what it promises in the best way. It takes small amounts from your bank ( in little bits that I don’t even notice or affect me) and just sends them straight to the CC companies to pay down your balance. I literally don’t have to think about it at all, ever.
I’ve tried other apps that try to take small amounts for payments or savings, but their systems are so irregular and annoying, they end up taking bulk amounts at the most inconvenient times. Never had this problem from Bright. this app has got it right. I’ve had Bright for less than two months have it’s nearly done paying off a $200 balance. My only suggestion would be to be able to manually add other types of accounts to save to or pay off. I just want to use Bright for all my financial needs!!!

By

So far, so good!

I downloaded this app a few months ago to see if it could help me pay down my debts as well as it advertised, and it’s been pretty smooth sailing ever since! Bright has made great improvements to really let users hone in on the best method for paying off their debt, and even has ways to pause the AI or set a limit for your bank account where this app won’t take more money out so you don’t overdraft.

It’s nice to know that money is being saved for me without having to do anything, and that I can combine it with my own manual payments to really crush my debt fast!

Their customer service is also great, they are quick to help answer any questions I’ve had, or work to resolve issues if they come up!

Good for Some. NOT FOR ME!

As I’ve read through some of the reviews. I also got hit with an automatic withdrawal. Fortunately, my withdrawal wasn’t large enough to have a real impact on my bank account, but I do worry about how much more will be withdrawn until my account is completely deleted - which I couldn’t get a straight answer on. I had the not so great pleasure of speaking with Sophia. She didn’t give much help, but kept using “as mentioned”. How can you know what to safely transfer out if you don’t know what I’m spending each day?! I would’ve been good with a set amount transferring over each day or week, rather than waking up and money is transferred - it’s random! There must be some fine print somewhere about the cost! I don’t recall seeing that until I signed up and started clicking on things to see for myself. My balances wouldn’t appear, my due dates were wrong. If I have to fix everything that you are supposedly linked to, why bother linking my credit cards?!

By

Not what they claim

If you are trying to pay off debt, but still live check to check, this isn’t for you. It will automatically take money from you at random times in order to “save” for a credit card to make a payment. If you need that money for a mcchicken or gas later that week, good luck. I also found that there’s no way to remove a bank account or card info from Bright . There’s also no way to delete your account on your own. You have to “contact support” which is just a robot with a name who repeats the same lines. It shouldn’t be this complicated to delete an account. Please do yourself a favor and don’t even bother. There’s also a 9.99 a month charge that I also didn’t see anything about. It’s just an awful design all the way around. If you have money to spare and you just want it to automatically pay your bills then I’m sure it’ll work for you. But I can’t afford to put even $5 towards a card that isn’t due until the end of the month. I have other bills to pay!

By

Service cost

I was really excited about Bright! I installed it, gave it access to all of my banking and credit card information, set up my account completely and not once during the entire process did Bright let me know what the service charge for this subscription would be. I would be fine paying the $9.99 a month for what Bright is supposed to do for me ( I pay a lot more for other things that I just don’t need)..... if I was told up front what I would be paying for. But because it felt like the subscription was hidden from me due to the fact NOT ONCE was I asked or told about it during registration, I immediately canceled the service (which was extremely easy, so thanks for that) and deleted Bright from my phone. Hidden service charges for things are something that are extremely irritating to me. How can you say that your going to save someone money every month and hide the fact that you charge. Very scammy in my opinion.

By

Happy there’s an app... but functionally it may not be ready.

I want to start off my saying that I love and definitely believe in this app. It’s a great service. However, after downloading it shows the correct amount saved, but doesn’t have my smart pay card there. So I’m thinking that it’s off. I check online and it’s there as it should be...

The application not being able to accurately display correct account info defies the point of an app as I still will need to check out the web app to provide accurate info.

Hopefully this is updated at some point... but I would DEFINITELY get this app if you need to pay off some debt. I’m loving the service so far.

App that puts money back in your pockets

I was looking for an app that could help me reduce the interest I pay on my cards. I have over $7000 in credit card debt and even on a tight budgeting I end up paying $200 in interest fees. That’s literally a waste of my money and these banks will never help.
With this app taking control of my card payments, balances have moved faster, and now I’m weeks away from paying my cards in full. I have used this app for last five months and Bright has proven very helpful to me.

By

I love that I don’t need to worry about this stuff anymore

I gotta be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first. An AI advisor that helps you pay your credit cards smarter? However, been using it for almost 6 months now and couldn’t be happier. I already paid down 2 cards and I don’t even need to think about all this anymore. this app Money just takes care of paying all the bills on time and makes sure I only pay what I can afford. Super happy that there’s an iOS app now, too.

By

Bright does what it says!

this app does what it says. It analyzes your cards, makes them easy to pay and avoid money wasted in interest! I like that they support all my cards sonI don’t have to use 4 apps now. It’s an all in one deal for me.

By

The idea is great but the execution is horrible

Started linking my bank and credit cards. First one went through just fine but most had problems linking. One credit card showed up as a funding account. Wasn’t comfortable that you could not delete funding accounts and credit cards that have zero balance is showing as maximum balance. Can’t even manually put the correct balance. On top of that the support is via email. Nightmare. Please delete my personal funding and credit cards and deactivate my account. Please also send me an email that it’s been done. Thanks.

By

It works! Like a money advisor for credit cards

I have been using this app for over 3 months. It gets to work immediately paying my cards and helping me manage my debt. I highly recommend.

By

2 cards down 1 to go!

this app helped me pay down my cards faster than I expected! Surely an app for anyone who is struggling with finances. Loved the sleek design and experience.

By

Really Unique Concept

I'm impressed with this app's AI component and the fact that it does what it says - pays down your debt.

By

You won’t be able to delete your information

They launched a service of which whenever you don’t want anymore there’s no button to unlink your personal banking information. According to them, that’s because they are a “young” company. Like what does it have to do with the fact that I cannot remove my personal credentials?

By

Works as promised

It was easy to sign up and works as advertised.

Game changer in Fintech

Love Bright for saving me money, and I paid off two cards

By

Best app ever

Is a great app to save money love it

By

Won’t connect to bank

Loved the sound of Bright. Sadly, it won’t connect to my bank account (not a minor bank) and there is no option to use Bright without that connection.

By

Amazing app, helped me pay down two cards completely!

I am a this app user for about 6 months and Bright exceeded my expectation. I like that I get to see all my financial information in one place. I get notifications, I get updated on payments of my cards, and I don't have to do the hard math to pay off those cards. I’m very much satisfied.
I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to take more control of their money.

Take back control of your finances with ease

Between moving across the country for a new job, furnishing a new home, unexpected and costly car repairs, a couple impulsive international vacations, and the expiration of promotional credit card interest rate terms, it was time I reeled it in and took back control of my finances strategically and realistically.

The beauty in the technology behind this app lies in its incremental pay-off method, where you're meeting at least the minimum monthly payment (or more depending on how quickly you'd like to resolve your debt) through multiple small contributions towards the payment as opposed to one bill per month which would leave me with little liquidity/cash for essentials or entertainment during the days between the payment due date and my next pay day.

So rather than being dinged hundreds of dollars one day a month and eating ramen noodles until the next Friday, I have 15-20 reasonable contribution amounts spread throughout allowing plenty of cash for say a concert or night out whenever I might need it.

Not only that, this app takes into consideration your spending habits and will adjust the variable withdrawal amount per your expected financial behavior and patterns for the given day of the month - super clutch.

Not to mention it's all automated on the back-end so not having to perform that unbearably dreadful chore of logging into the credit card provider's portal and submitting the payment is a major weight off my shoulders.

5/5 recommend this app to anyone looking to become financially healthy with ease and convenience. Put this app to work so you can focus on your work.

Keep up the good work this app Team! 🌟🙌

I have a charge on my debit card for $2.10 from this company and never signed up for anything-how did this happen?? I dont even have any credit cards to pay off.

Sherry Blige   3 years ago

I don’t want you services any more. U have taken $475.69 out of my account since 1/19/21 and you're saying I only have $118.08 saved where is the rest of my money. I want to cancel this an have my money refunded

Ashley Z   3 years ago

I never knew when they were going to take money out or how much they were going to take. After I paused the account, I checked my Bright savings account and it said it had $0, when they had taken $73 dollars from me already. Where did the money go? I contacted support and they mysteriously found it without explanation. 5 days ago, they said they would put the money back into my bank account and I have yet to see it. I do NOT recommend!

Christina Arnold   3 years ago

I downloaded this app thinking it would just put all my cards on one app so I could just pay my cards with one app. Was not looking to consolidate. Now I find I was charged 2.73 so I deleted the app and then was charged 70.00. I filed a dispute with my bank. Very mis informing and who in their right mind would agree to pay 70.00 when just trying to pay their credit cards?? I want my money back immediately!!!

I can't connect to my account and they won't let me delete my info
