If your goal was to make customers the enemy, you succeeded

* forcing people to input their Heinen’s card number or no sale for you, what is this, the Giant Eagle self checkout lane? I refuse to shop there at all now.

* no family cart option! Super inconvenient.

* EXTREMELY limited pickup slots so guess what, you have to pay $9.95 no matter what. Have fun competing against the Rocky River boat people who use $10 bills as tissue paper! (Or just go there in person and let the no-mask-wearing middle aged white guys give you COVID. What an excellent choice for the medically vulnerable!)

* no payment option other than CC, no PayPal, nada

* the absolute temerity of asking for tips on top of the $9.95! Why don’t you pay your own drivers properly?! If the slots are limited to 5 per hour as they seem to be, you are raking in $50/hr on top of the products you are selling, and you can afford it.

* I knew it was the beginning of the end when you started installing cart racks in your parking lots but wow, you really stepped up the level of garbage people nonsense on this. I have been a loyal Heinen’s shopper for decades. DECADES. I have defended you against everyone who says you are overpriced, explaining that your level of service more than makes up for it. No longer. This is a gross cash grab and you should be ashamed.

Heinen’s made a bad decision

What a poor decision to take Heinen’s off Instacart and try to do it on their own, charging a 10 dollar delivery fee each order-not even monthly! I plan to take my business to the other companies through Instacart. I think we have all become very custom to making errands more convenient in order to spend our time doing other things, aka using Instacart for grocery shopping. I’m assuming Heinen’s will lose a lot of sales though they most likely won’t care.

Moral of story- shop elsewhere as Heinen’s constantly gets more and more greedy.

Abandoned Downtown Residents

During height of pandemic, Heinen's abandoned downtown residents like me for half a year, first claiming it was because of extensive repairs that needed done, then finally admitting it was simply because they had lost business because people were working from home.

That was a blessing in disguise, as I discovered Instacart and continue to use it even today. Now I can avoid paying the overpriced grocery items from Heinen's and I really don't miss their overhyped customer service.

All that aside, I would never pay $10 per delivery for their service. The indifference toward its regular customers seems to continue even now.

It’s easier to go to the store myself

I loved this app-most of all for their customer service. I was a faithful shopper for 15 years. I am so disappointed.
It costs $10, plus a tip each time I shop online, and the prices are higher online?
The slots are so limited that I am usually grabbing one a day or more out. But anything I add to my cart in that interim may or may not be added to the final list-even if Heinens says it’s been added I won’t know until after the delivery arrives and I go through the shoppers list.
The convenience is limited, at best, and not worth the excessive extra amount of money. I’m better off shoppping myself anywhere else.

Compared to other grocers, Heinens isn’t great. At minimum, it should have the option to add your Heinen’s card to Apple Wallet or at least show your Heinen’s bar code in Heinens .

I don’t want to order online. I just want to shop in the store. Heinens is probably good for those who grocery shop online but for the rest of us there’s no function to Heinens.
Instead of picking one of the two useless options I deleted Heinens .

I shopped at Heinen’s weekly through Instacart. I was able to shop at this app and other stores with Instacart, but now they want me to pay a higher fee for only this app. No thanks. I’ll take my weekly business to other stores.

3rd party delivery service

Customers should know that this app uses a 3rd party delivery business to deliver and thus are unable to refund any delivery fee/tip in the event, as in my case, your order is never delivered. So I’m out ~25 bucks. Never again.

Bring Instacart back!

Poorly designed app. Horrendous impersonal shoppers with no option to find similar items if your item is out of stock. If it doesn’t change quick, I will stick with Instacart at other grocery stores

Terrible

Absolutely terrible. Was much easier when I could order this app through Instacart.

Had a hold on my account for the order but then an employee contacted me telling me my card was declining when there was plenty of money in that account. This is after they told me my delivery would be delayed due to their system messing up.

The employee was very kind and helpful but Heinens and system is trash. I am home sick and my daughter is also sick and this was a huge inconvenience.

This app is useless to those of us who enjoy going to Heinens

There is big design flaw in this application. It immediately requires the user to select “delivery” or “pick up”. What about the option for those of us who still enjoy going to the grocery store to select the items ourselves?? I would like Heinens to have the option of just browsing the sales and regular priced items so I can build a shopping list to utilize while I’m actually at my favorite this app location.

Difficult to order

I had no problem with ordering on Instacart. If you entered a word that was part of anything, it would open up a selection. Now you have to know the exact name that you are ordering. Trying to add to an order is exactly what the name implies trying and trying and trying. This website needs work.
That being said, the foods selection picked by their associates is excellent. They check so by dates they check to make sure that the fruit is fresh. Good job at training.

Poor service with new app and no Instacarr

I never once had a problem with this app and Instacart. But first time I use Heinens, I have a messed up order. this app was out of two items and I did not get a call or a text to replace them. So now I am missing ingredients for what I was going to make. I called customer service and she said there was nothing they could do. Guess I can go to the cheaper Big Bird if I am going to get poor service.

Off to a bad start

This is a big downgrade from Instacart. Heinens is difficult to use because it is so cluttered with ads. I don’t get notices that my order has been delivered.

My experience with ordering on the app

I love shopping at this app through Instacart. It was awesome. I was very skeptical to use Heinens because of the reviews and have to pay a 9.95 per delivery which is much more expensive than Instacart. I have a friend who does deliveries. She texted me to say that she got my this app order. I wanted to make sure that she got the full tip. She did get the full tip plus whatever other fees she gets for getting that order, so it is really nice that you know the tip does go to the driver, not the Heinen’s employee. I did have a few issues with the items that I did receive. I reported the issues and I got a refunded immediately. I am not happy about the $9.95 delivery fee for each order but I do love this app and I’m glad that the actual driver who picks up the order does get that tip.

3/23: I’m updating my review for Heinens I actually called this app, customer service. She explained to me the reason why Heinen stopped using Instacart. Instacart kept raising fees for businesses who use Instacart. The this app representative that I did speak with, explained to me that the $9.95 delivery free as well as the tip will go to the driver who actually picks up the order at Heinen’s in brings it to your door.

Great experience!

I have loved using this new feature from Heinen’s. They continue to raise the bar! I was able to order everything I usually would, including deli and meat counter items. There were a few items that were sold out, but the shopper contacted me immediately via message to ask me if I’d like to make substitutions. I wasn’t available to respond, so she went ahead with the order without those items, which I think is the best choice in those situations. The manager brought the order to my car (for pick up option) just outside Heinen’s in cooler packs to keep everything fresh, cold and/or frozen, and everyone (as is customary with Heinen’s staff) was incredibly friendly. As a transplant to Cleveland, I have quickly become Heinen’s loyal. They have outstanding products and services, and this new app and service feature, once again, places them ahead of the pack.

I’m so grateful this app finally added an app and has now offered their own delivery service. It’s awesome to have this app own associates picking the orders. They care more about the quality of the product and continue to offer the great service I’ve come to expect with this app. I’ll gladly pay a fee to have this app associates do the shopping! this app continues to show they care about their people, customers and products!
