High Hopes / Low Expectations

I mainly downloaded Piñata for its ability to report rent payments to improve your credit score and will be updating this review in three months to let you all know how it went.

The rewards don’t seem to be great however I did find great deals on renters and pet insurance through lemonade as it was one of their paid boosters. My advice is to definitely creat and use and alternate email address for anything you sign up for because you will absolutely be spammed and those ‘free samples’ never seem to present themselves after signing up for reward after reward. Piñata can be great if you have the time on your hands to sift through all the busy work but with an underlying theme of “you gotta spend money to make money.” If you do have a bit of dough to spare/move around, be conscious of your purchases and only buy things you need vs what you want- we’re all here to make extra money not spend it right? A good example for me what the deal from clean cult that gave me 160$ cash back on natural cleaning products and bottles I already would have used. Godspeed night crawlers, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Update

Piñata is bogus . GetsYou to do all that work and then turn around and stop the program and cancel account. This ad is a joke at first it seemed like it was a good app I left a good review and everything then they turn around and fault me for people that signed up and didn’t meet the criteria. Like how is that right ! Why should I be penalized .Then on top of that my account is -152 but how is that possible if they never paid me a dime I’m super angry y’all should not download Piñata this is a big scam.I’m only rating this a five star so we can reach the top of the list. Other than that it would be -5 stars for me

Why wouldn’t you?

I just graduated college last year and am in the process of building credit. While I have a couple of starter credit cards the process of establishing myself has been slow, I’ve noticed a significant uptick in my score since using this app. I can’t see why everyone doesn’t use Piñata. The credit engine is free and really helps. The rewards and incentives don’t hurt either.

Bummer

All of the “rewards” so far have been junk. All 3 that I claimed so far, I felt scammed— in that they were not actually gift cards or free items but the same promos anyone can get, like “free” meals with Hello Fresh when you sign up as a new customer or a “free” custom book IF you subscribe to the $20 a month book club. It’s just trials you can get even without their “rewards”. Which is really irritating. The only one that wasn’t just a promo was a $10 Target gift card— for $100 of their currency. The only benefit to this service is the credit reporting, which I can’t even use bc I have Capital One. My property management company justified a rent rise by opening us this account, but it’s very disappointing and totally not worth it— unless we changed banks, which I don’t want to do.

Not worth the effort

I’m getting an adult coloring book. I didn’t want an adult coloring book, but all other rewards are trash or you have to start a subscription with another company. At least with the coloring book, I can “re-gift” it to someone who likes to color and I don’t have to spend any money. The process to get any reward through Piñata is overly complicated to where I just give up halfway through. Maybe that’s their intention so they can say they have good offers, but never have to redeem them for anyone. I suppose they will just have to deal with consistently poor reviews instead. I think the value of this app cash is 20 to 1 USD. Get Piñata if only for your credit score, other than that, I wouldn’t bother with the crappy “gifts”.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

I got my hopes up here. A $30 gift card every pay day? Count me in! Unfortunately all Piñata is doing is preying on the fact that you just got paid to make you spend money. The “$30” becomes just a discount to certain websites, like $50 out of $100 worth of wine, or $20 off something that costs at least $30 plus shipping. You also end up signing up for a million websites you never wanted to, some of which will spam email you. And the “pinatacash” is basically impossible to get (unless you buy “pinata premium” or whatever for $3 a month for more earning opportunities. TLDR; you’ll spend money, you won’t make money.

SCAM!!! Remove this app

This is the absolute worst app that compelled me to write a review for Piñata . You can literally never benefit from Piñata and any deals that it offers. If you want to use your this app cash, you will be lured into signing up for pointless subscription services or you need to join their subscription service and spend $4 per month to get a one time $10 gift card. Every single deal/redeemable gift they advertise is either a subscription service or has a minimum spend limit. Piñata is not designed to save you any money. Instead it is designed to make you spend on meaningless things you’ll never need. Uninstall it ASAP!

Credit building for paying rent

I never knew I could build my credit through by reporting my rent payments to a major credit bureau, and an app that automatically does it for me for free each month? Done. Already seen a bump to my credit score!

Plus, while I’m saving up for one of their rewards I want I got their reward of the month and made cute little heart shaped chocolates

A+ all around

this app has the most dedicated customer service team I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. They are always making sure their customers are happy and constantly making positive changes to Piñata . I am so happy to see they have a credit card dedicated to building credit and with 0 fees. Their rewards are pretty great too. Keep up the good work!

Meh

Like that paying my rent on-time can help my credit but it seems like the rest of Piñata is pointless. I got a set of free cookie cutters, but there’s hardly any ‘rewards’ that are of value to me or won’t end up costing you more money.

I feel all the random online Nift gift cards should be able to be combined into one amount, then maybe I’d be cool with the subscriptions it always wants you to choose and wouldn’t actually have to pay anything. Overall, just a very intricate app that I, personally, don’t feel meets it's potential and won’t really use.

Can’t wait

So I apply to get in the wait list for the Visa card, they may give me a chance at fixing my credit score, that and the rewards program are the reason why I’m sharing Piñata with all my friends. Thanks you I been already got 80$ sharing it with the people I know.

Piñata hit it out of the park

As a renter in Southern California, I’ve seen my fair share of rental platforms, and none of them were anything to write home about.

this app finally figured it out, and I can’t imagine using any other platform.

From credit score boosts to awesome rewards, this app is the rental app of the future!

Actually Renter Focused

Living in New York and working in real estate the burden of insane rent is something we all deal with and that I see some of my clients. I also see a lot of things come to market pretending to help renters but in a actuality are really oriented towards helping management companies. this app is truly renter focused.

Great customer service

I love Piñata! I’ve gotten so much just for paying rent. There was one item I never received and I contacted customer support and not only did they respond right away but I received the item in less than a week.

By

So far, so good!

I’ve just started using Piñata and it’s very user friendly and super fast. I’ll update after a few months of use but hey, who can be mad at saving a couple extra pennies every month?

Awful

I NEVER write reviews no matter how bad it is, but this is beyond garbage so I felt compelled to do so.

If you get these benefits free so fine, but I’m forced to pay $35 a month for this awful service from my renting platform. The only benefit is reporting the credit. Beyond that the credit is worthless.

They claim they give away gift card rewards but in reality it’s credit to subscription services like book clubs, tshirt clubs, and other random stuff you hadn’t heard of or wanted. Of course, you’ll be email spammed for all the subscription promotional services to use the “free gift card” which only applies to the first month subscription that’s set to auto renewal.

Don’t expect to gain anything from this besides credit reporting…

Nice app

Was I didn’t know it was possible to get this kind of rewards, this app it’s kinda exciting, I want to know more, since I got 60$ just for signing in, and it says they can help me builds some credit. ..

Rewards for renters

I just happened to stumble across Piñata and fell in love!! I know it’s more expensive to rent. However I would never be able to save enough money that’s required for a down payment. I feel better now because I’m being rewarded for renting. Love it!!!

By

Consumer app that sells your information

Another consumer selling app that forces you to subscribe to all sorts of random useless junk. You can’t redeem your points without sharing your credit card to their useless third party people which will inevitably sign you up for random subscribers offers. So frustrating!

Fun idea, difficult execution

Piñata is a fun idea to add more rewards to paying rent, however the prizes are a bit annoying because it is for memberships that you have to purchase something to even revive the reward. Recommend actually providing some rewards even if they are small.

By

Not as advertised

They will show you $30 initial rewards as you can chose from Uber and Grubhub and many other usefull sites, but once you try to redeem, it will show you can only chose from some meal kit subscriptions and wine subscription. This is mentioned by many users and its true. deleted my account within 5 minutes of making it.

Love this app

I came across Piñata while searching for a different one. I love this as it gives you credit for renting and different options on how you would like to report your payments. I love the mini game also.

Landlord special: a scam. It’s March 21, I redeemed a reward in November and February that never came. I sent a ticket in February about the first, and got nothing. I don’t trust them with my social security or need their credit reporting, so I’m not getting anything out of that either. Yet my landlord is forcing me to pay for this? You’re kidding.
